Watching MUTV and all the callers bringing up how the title could now be a real possibility. Sure we've been playing well recently, sure we've finally been getting the results and sure Chelsea may go on a poor run at some point but knock that shit off until we've won every game for at least about 2/3 months straight or something.

Seriously, we're in second and I know it's going to take a calamitous fuck up of historic proportions (nobody has ever failed to win the league having had this clear a margin at Christmas) for us to even have a sniff. Don't be silly, MUTV fans.

Well, Joey Barton may be back at Burnley, but...

Joey Barton has been charged with misconduct, with the Football Association claiming the midfielder placed 1,260 bets in the past 10 years.

The FA says he broke rules by betting on the "result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of, or occurrence in, football matches or competitions".

The BBC understands that Sam Allardyce has agreed a two-and-a-half year deal to become the new Crystal Palace manager.

The contract has not been signed yet but will be shortly.

He will be in charge for training tomorrow and the trip to Watford on Monday.

The formal announcement is expected around 7pm this evening.

Still don't see the issue of him betting on games if he doesn't have any influence over the matches.

I think with betting on that matches you'll definitely be open to having an influencing effect - just due to how footballers tend to be a fairly close knit group - especially teammates or former teammates. Saying to a mate 'oi don't do x,y,z, I've got a bet on' might be what's happened - although that would get into match fixing territory surely?
