Red Hot Chili Peppers - "The Getaway"

I'm half way through but good lord this is a poor album. I know One Hot Minute gets a lot of flak, but at least it's got a passionate and tribal sound to it. This is just utterly dull, no funk, no passion, not even catchy.

I might force myself to like "Go Robot", but I'm not optimistic on the second half of the album, especially considering how hit and miss the last album was.

Kloffhinger is not the guitarist for the Chilis, but everyone else phoning it in really doesn't help.

Didn't make it through the album. The combination of Josh Klinghoffer just being competent and Danger Mouse over-egging the fuck out of every sound (as per usual) meant I lost interest pretty quickly. At least I'm With You had a few moments of goodness.

But to me, RHCP have three amazing albums (Californication, By the Way, Stadium Arcadium - I already own all three on LP) and the rest is pointless. But I'm more a fan of John Frusciante pushing his guitar skills than anything else. I even think Blood Sugar... is too Flea-orientated. RHCP will always be essential to me because of what they did in 1999-2006, yet my interest beyond either time is non-existent.
