Edit: Just read the plot summary on Wikipedia. The whole thing makes sense now. Holy shit that was awesome.

So I had a couple hours to let this sink in. Here are some thoughts (Spoilers for this episode and possible spoilers for the next season)

I'm not nearly as disappointed in the "Ford was behind everything" twist as I thought I would be. It was well done and me being confused at first had more to do with me not paying enought attention to the episode than with the writers doing a bad job. It's sad that Anthony Hopkins won't be back for the next season though. Or will he? Remember, when he made Bernard kill Theresa there was a new host being created in his lab and we still have no idea who this host will be so maybe he made a new body for himself to transfer his consciousness into. They never mentioned that such a thing is possible but if anybody was able to figure that out it would probably be Ford. Maybe he wants to live with his creation forever. He obviously views the hosts as something better than humans. Maybe he wants to become part of that. Or maybe he already did that by creating a younger version of himself. Then who is the host that was being made in his secret lab as Theresa was killed?

The William/MiB reveal was done perfectly as well. I also loved the expression on his face after one of the hosts shoot him for real. I know his story ark is basically done but I still hope he survives the the uprising so that we'll get to see more of him.

Initially I didn't like the Maeve escape because there were so many moments where the guards simply could've gunned them down and didn't until I realized that this was a scenario designed for her as Felix pointed out. The guard were probably hosts as well.

Also there is some Alternate Reality Game stuff on the Delos and Westworld websites. Amo Amongst some emails and other easter eggs you can find in the source code there are links to some mp4 files that strongly suggest that Elsie is alive and that we'll be seing more from her in the next season:

That also proves that Ford wasn't lying when he told Bernard that he never made him kill someone like he did to Theresa. At least unknowingly because after this episode I doubt he meant for Elsie to survive as she probably figured out something about his new "narrative".

I think they are real bugs. The point of that scene was to establish that something in Dolores programming had changed. She was not supposed to be able to hurt any non-host. But she did swat the fly. So my guess is the fly was a real fly.

So they can get staph? Not really sure what the point of that little feature would be. I'd imagine one of the main selling points of a sex robot would be that it wouldn't transmit disease. Even my oven's got a self-cleaning function and I'm only in 2016 here. Get with it, Hopkins.

Speaking of sex robots, I never would've even made it on the train. McPoyle turning down that coat check girl was the least realistic thing that's happened thus far.

I do hope he gets to go on the treasure hunt though.

Having grown up in Orlando and specifically in/around the hospitality industry, this show really doesn't have to work as hard as it's working to vilify tourists to me.  I'm already ready for somebody to put a penny on the track and derail the train. I'm not sure that actually works though. Also...

I think the whole staph thing was done to establish that they current hosts are made of organic material to make them as similar to the human body as possible.

As for the drinks I suppose they are included in the price the guests pay to get into Westworld.

Missed opportunity on Westworld's part then.

Staph thing struck me as odd because the milk drinking guy pretty much established that they're more like husks than... I guess clones would be the word?

My original idea (which is based off another "dystopian future where people can commit murder for funsies" script I read long, long, long, long ago and absolutely loved) was that they were people pulled out of the past of alternate dimensions/timelines and brought forward to be part of the park and that the "newcomers" were all present-day citizens who were wrongfully convinced that the people behind Westworld used/possessed resurrection-type technology, but really it's all about keeping them distracted from the time-travel skylarkings and whatnot.

People in the past had digestive tracts though so that's probably not it.

I have some questions about the final episode regarding Arnold:

What was the point of injecting Dolores with parts of Wyatt's personality to kill all the hosts? To stop them from oppening the park? How so? I'm sure he knew that it wouldn't take them long to fix the hosts. So that isn't the problem. To scare of potential investors by giving them the impression that the park is dangerous? That could be it. But he could've accomplished that without having Dolores run amok.

If it came out that a host could kill a human, as happened to Arnold, the entire plan would be scrapped and no one would invest in it. They were basically bankrupt and then William/Logan came along to save the day. Arnold almost succeeded. Instead Ford won, and Ford's final narrative was of course the uprising.

I'm hoping we get to see more young William as he grabs control over all of Delos and makes them bankroll Westworld.

Also really like the potential for what stories can be told with the hosts as they became increasingly sentient. And what happens with the park, guests obviously won't be allowed to come but I don't see that stopping anyone.

I didn't really get the after-credits scene, unless it's implying she's going to leave the park and just go on a rampage somewhere.

Ugh, so much to talk about and only 2 years to wait.

I would think a lot of the show will cross over into the other parks, but they're going to still feature most of what's going on in Westworld alongside it.

The other parks are a great opportunity to keep bringing guests in as Delos scrambles to contain the disaster at Westworld as well. Because somehow there has to still be outsiders coming in. I'm curious what the boundary between the parks are. Obviously hosts were programmed to never cross them, and they're probably some kind of natural boundary making it hard for guests. But all bets are off now that the hosts are "awake".

As for whether or not Ford made himself. It's possible, and I've been leaning towards him imparting his entire life's experience on a host to in effect make himself immortal.

We already know that hosts can pretty much be given a person's memories; it was established that Bernard's memories of his son were basically Arnold's own story imparted onto a host by Ford. I'd imagine if we don't see Ford resurrected we might possibly see a host with his memories 'living on' and that would give some scope to develop the character and his motivations further. Isn't Hopkins signed-on for season 2?
