Status Quo guitarist Rick Parfitt has died in hospital in Spain aged 68, his manager has said.

In October, he said he would no longer be performing with his band after suffering from a heart attack in the summer.

The musician has suffered a series of health problems including having to undergo a quadruple heart bypass in 1997.

 

 

Say what you want about the band, but this hit me pretty bad. Once of my mum's all time favourite bands and we went to many gigs together over years (my first ever gig was seeing Quo at Sheffield City Hall when I was about 8 or so).

Status Quo have always been a fun band, and I would have liked to see them at some point. They're playing some acoustic sets, but it wouldn't be the same without Rick Parfitt's energy.

Not a massive fan but they do have a place in my heart purely because at the end of a match down the Orient they play "Rockin all over the World".
