The shameful ostracising aside, he's 30 and a know quantity who struggles to make reads and relies on his athleticism. I can't see him being the long-term answer for anybody, which I imagine he sees himself as. He's in the top 32 QBs in the league at least but I don't think anybody wants to give him starter money when they've seen his ceiling.

Teams should be frantic to get him in as a premium back-up though, I'd like to see him in Pittsburgh. Big Ben is held together by tape at this point so he'll likely see playing.

So crazy to me that Wilson and Kaep could be on the same team. I still remember the ad campaign for I think Madden where they were doing all these competitions against each other because they were going to be like the new Manning vs, Brady rivalry.

Ryan Fitzpatrick agrees to terms with the Bucs, will compete with Josh McCown for the backup role.

Fitzmagic is decent pick up for them. He comfortably upgrades their #2 spot.

And downgrades their #1 when the Fitzmagic gets Jameis injured and he takes over.

Eh. Beats Ryan Griffin, Sean Renfree or Sefo Liufau..

Does it though? Based on how he played last year, I'm not really convinced.

"Lets sign Ryan Fitzpatrick, he's a competent backup!"

Image result for monkey paw gif

Fitzpatrick is done, last year showed that. He'd be a fine addition as a backup at that price if his curse wasn't guaranteed to break your starting QB.

The NFL is putting the fun back in football.

On Tuesday, the league announced it will relax rules on celebrations.

Bring on the fade-away jumpers, snow angels, and group dances.

In a letter to fans from Commissioner Roger Goodell, the NFL said it wants to allow players "more room to have fun after they make big plays."

Goodell spoke with more than 80 current and former NFL players about relaxing the rules on celebrations.

"We know that you love the spontaneous displays of emotion that come after a spectacular touchdown," the Commissioner said in the letter. "And players have told us they want more freedom to be able to express themselves and celebrate their athletic achievements."

Goodell elaborated on the decision after Tuesday's Spring League Meeting in Chicago wrapped up.

"We saw a lot of interest in liberalizing and allowing the players a little more freedom to be able to express their joy, their individuality and frankly celebrate the game," Goodell said. "So that's what we think we've accomplished here. There will be an ongoing dialogue with a lot of parties to make sure that we implement it."

Examples of celebrations to be allowed under the new guidelines:

  • Using the football as a prop after a touchdown
  • Celebrating on the ground
  • Group demonstrations

The relaxed rules aren't a free for all. Offensive demonstrations, celebrations that are prolonged and delay the game, and celebrations directed at an opponent, will still be penalized, the letter said, in order continue "sportsmanship, clean competition, and setting good examples for young athletes."

In short, three-pump twerking is still a no-go.

"[Team owners] recognize that sportsmanship is an important thing for [players] to demonstrate on the field in large part because of the people who are watching," Goodell said. "And also to keep high standards and that's something that is why we will want to continue to have their involvement."

The decision to let players celebrate more freely is a long-awaited relief for players and fans alike. Commence the creativity.

The fun is back!

No twerking though, so not too much fun.

Marvin Lewis says the relaxed celebration guidelines set a bad example for kids.

Your team employs Vontaze Burfict and drafted Joe Mixon, you fucking idiot.

They're also 3rd in arrests since 2000 and he's been their coach since 2003.

      Another season in the books.
      because
Marshawn Lynch has already announced his retirement
Here's what we've got to look forward to:

Did a quick search and it seems we, somehow, don't have a thread for this (correct me if I'm wrong).

Anyways, who grabbed it so far and what are your thoughts? I quite like the new catch mechanic, though it seems trickier to intercept this year (but, conversely, easier to perform knock downs).

We're 2 weeks away from the start of the regular season so it's time for a new thread!
Let's start off with some predictions. Last year I correctly predicted:

After a little discussion in the NFL thread I have decided to start up a dynasty league for EWB.
