Sir Roger Moore has died

MDK, I might be biased because I didn't think Daniel Craig was a good choice for Bond when he was announced. But Casino Royale the best Bond film? Hardly. Though it is Craig's best film. (Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, The Man With The Golden Gun, Thunderball, The Spy Who Loved Me, From Russia With Love, and Goldeneye are all better than Casino Royale. And no, those aren't my favorites in any particular order.)

Hewey, I'd rank The Living Daylights somewhere in the upper-middle, but License To Kill at the very bottom, as far as Bond films go. Because as I said, LTK is a generic revenge action flick with Bond shoehorned in. Otherwise, my choice for worst film would probably be Moonraker. (A View To Kill would be garbage if they hadn't cast Christopher Walken as the villain.)

Die Another Day is far worse than License to Kill. It's completely awful even before the horrible turn of the century crap CGI kicks in to make it unwatchable, and Brosnan has clearly had enough. At least LtK has a decent song...

I'm on the Moore over Connery train just because I like my Bond's a bit silly and Connery's only silly was amazing but also the one where he 'oriental's up.

To me the worst Bond movies are Die Another Day, Moonraker and Live And Let Die. Licens To Kill isn't good but it doesn't even come close to be as bad as these three.

Well now I can't trust anything you say.

It has Jaws falling in love IN SPACE. How can you not love that? :o

It might just be because is (relatively) recent but I just loved the change in tone. All the other Bond films have been a bit campy, which is fine, but think of it like comparing Batman (1989) and Batman Begins (2005). I loved that it pretty much just revolved around a game of poker and it also had Tyrone from Snatch in it.

Casino Royale was fantastic, and no Craig Bond film has come close since. I love campy Bond most of all though, so Craig will never be among my favourites.

But "What the fuck can he get away from?" Tyrone from Snatch was in a Bond film.

It's fun in a "so bad it's good" way like The Room or Plan 9 from Outer Space. If you have some friends over and need a movie to riff on MST3K-style I'd highly recommend it. But that doesn't make it a good movie to me.

For me, the Bond rankings are:

  1. Dean Malenko
  2. Sean Connery
  3. Roger Moore
  4. Pierce Brosnan
  5. Daniel Craig
  6. Timothy Dalton
  7. George Lazenby

8. Armbar
