I mean, not the worst idea, but at the same time, someone put Daniil out of his misery and take him away from the nightmare his career has become. With the new points system in place, it's become really hard for Red Bull to sign talent for the long term because once they finally get to the point where they might be needed in a STR they might not have the points required to get into F1, and then you can get a situation like with Brendon Hartley where you become the oldest 'developmental' driver ever. There's still talent out there, but the pool's dried up a bit. Also for people interested, here's a list of Superlicense points, dated from May 2018. So of course this will shift significantly when the season ends and points are handed out, but it gives a good idea who is still out there... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZV8oPWkkDgfkfM1WAcgebIGYBWciAmMoHHxdzPgOX5Q/edit#gid=
Katsuya
I suspect that Kvyat is only the option if Ticktum doesn't win F3 this year - that's the only way he can have enough points to get in the car. At the same time, a year out might have done Kvyat a wealth of good and he'll be able to come back and impress again. Also now the talk is Perez is going to McLaren and Ocon's staying at FI, but then another story came out today saying Perez is definitely staying at FI, and then there was the previous one saying he was off to Haas...at this point I almost want it all over and done with.

Chris2K
I wish it ended in Brazil still. I enjoyed the consistency of it starting in one part of the world and ending at the opposite side. Even if Canada's position always threw a curveball into the mix.
Katsuya
Ericsson just had an almighty crash at Turn One, rolled one way and then the other. Looks like his DRS failed and it's also failed on Leclerc's, thankfully not resulting in a crash for him. Ericsson's okay too.

Chris2K
Oh I remember the Adelaide GP, back when it started in Phoenix (or Brazil) and ended in Australia to go in the opposite direction.

Bobfoc
They should put the names of the races in a tumbler and draw them in a random order. Let's have Montreal in the winter.
JasonM
Kimi grabs pole with the fatest time in F1 history, 1:19:119, no man has ever done a faster lap than he has, on any track in F1. Also, Vettel was super salty when he heard it on the radio, probably expected him to be the guy to have gotten a tow rather than Kimi. But eh, I'm happy for Kimi, and the Tifosi get a 1-2 at their home GP. Now let's see Ferrari strategize themselves out of a 1-2 tomorrow... It's funny because if you got one driver that overdrives his car and tends to be aggressive to others, it's K-Mag these past few years. K-Mag always drives with elbows out, so it's a bit naff that he's complaining about someone doing a lunge on him.

MJB
Great race. Vettel making far too many mistakes, he has the car still to win this WDC but he needs to cut these errors out. Superb drive from Lewis, was within a second of Kimi for pretty much the first 45 laps.
Katsuya
Haas have had their cars disqualified after it turns out they ran with a floor that they knew was illegal. It means that Sirotkin moves up to P10, and therefore scores his first point - and it also means that this is the first season where every driver has scored a point. Provided that nobody comes in late, I guess. The Haas story is a lot more interesting though, it seems. Apparently, the FIA clarified rules on the floor before the summer break, and told teams they had until Monza to get this fixed. Haas apparently e-mailed the FIA and said that they wouldn't be able to get it fixed before Singapore, and asked for special exemption because of a shortage of parts etc. It seems that the FIA either never replied to the e-mail (which Haas then took as a "that's fine" signal), or said that they were free to run the floor, but if another team complained about it then they'd obviously be DQ'd. So Renault complained straight after the result, which also moved Haas above Renault in the Constructors - so either Renault happened to know about it, or they worked it out? Either way, Haas are appealing.
