What is the worst season of a TV Show you've ever seen?

Off the heels of the best season thread, flip it around and talk about literally the worst season you have seen AND finished (or watched at least the vast majority of).

For me it's easily season 4 of Arrow. No idea why I decided to finish that, but I did. But I vowed to never watch the show again afterwards.

Oh man. The latter seasons of Sons of Anarchy have to be up there for me. Namely season 6, most of season 7. Season 3 was a bit shit as well. I'd probably say Season 6 was worse than 3 or 7, though, because at least 3 moved the story along and 7 had a bunch of pretty good episodes wrapping things up. Season 6 was just misery porn after misery porn after misery porn, over and over and over until it lost any impact whatsoever.

I hated both 4th seasons of Buffy and Angel.

The concept of the Initiative in Buffy season 4 was good but horribly executed. As far as season 4 of Angel goes, fuck Connor and Jasmine.

I maybe wouldn't go as far worst I've ever seen, but I enjoyed Fringe all the way through, then they got recommissioned for a final season in which they dropped all the "X-Files, but with parallel worlds" and replaced it with a poor man's episode of Sliders for a whole season. Utterly disappointing ending. 

Also Red Dwarf series 7. They should have just pulled the plug.

The most recent three-episodes series of Jonathan Creek. That programme should have ended when Caroline Quentin left. It's a shame because there have been a few good episodes scattered about since then, but the latest ones have been meandering slogs. It always used to be that the mystery took up the main plot and the comic relief sub-plot would be sprinkled in to break things up, but they've now flipped the formula and had the mystery become an afterthought to the other goings-on.

This came to mind too. I thought he first couple of episodes were OK, but things really went south when they got rid of Rimmer. Kochanski was such a dull character who had no discernible role besides "disapproving woman who's slightly superficial", which added nothing to the show because Kryten was already the voice of reason and Cat was already the much more overt embodiment of shallow vanity.

This. The first things that came to mind were this and the Irish season of Sons of Anarchy. I gave up on the show during the misery ramp up in season 6. I also gave up on Red Dwarf during season 7 recently because it's pretty much unwatchable.

Season 2 of Heroes. After the first season, which was excellent from start to finish. They should have let the characters who died, actually die and build new ones, instead they brought everyone back, made everyone a dewy eyed teenager and the major plot point was everyone trying to find romance and it was terrible.

This is what I was gonna say. It was worse than a parody of the show and had one of the worst endings in the history of TV. It peaked at the Trinity Killer season but it plummeted off a cliff at the end.

I can't hate on the 7th season of Red Dwarf for 2 reasons.

1. The first episode was fun, especially the extended version.

Damages Season 2. The first season of Damages was really good. They tried to recreate the magic but the writing was absolute dog shit. The villain joins the good guys for zero reason. 

Season 6 Walking Dead. The show was not great up until this point. But it became nonsensical and forced this season. The walker horde, Jesse storyline, the deaths of new characters we barely know. Awful.

The final 2 seasons of House - except for season 6 premiere. The show started off good enough, then became stellar in seasons 4 & 5, had a BEAUTIFUL opener for season 6 that really should have been the series finale. And then there was just nothing worthwhile to do from there forward. They lost Lisa Edelstein (stupidly refused to pay her what she was worth, actually) and everything started screaming downhill to an obnoxious, contrived finale.

I would probably say the same. Sons of Anarchy became a slog around season 6 for me.

The S6 premier is the one with Lin Manuel Miranda right? That episode was so good. 

I will echo the final season of Dexter and S2 of Heroes. While not the worst seasons of stuff I've watched, both The Office and Smallville had huge drops in quality before having really really good final seasons.
