  3. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29739156/lions-cancel-practice-protest-police-shooting-wisconsin The Lions canceled practice in protest of the Jacob Blake shooting. The old white Metro Detroiters are angry about this because "The Lions suck and they should be out working for my entertainment, how dare them have an opinion". But good on them for doing something, anything. Also, Ahmaud Arbery was Tracy Walker's cousin (our starting safety) so this hits very close to home for him especially. "The Lions are now choosing to try to change the world using their platform as footbal

  6. I don't really buy the argument that taking betting companies out will cause financial problems for smaller clubs. Most of the betting shirt sponsors are in the Premier League and Championship, and there are always lots of companies from all sorts of industries wanting to get involved in the lucrative football business. A lot of clubs in League One and lower have local companies sponsoring them, and some of them are very well known. Because of our town's railway connections we have had LNER (and formerly Virgin Trains before that) on our shirts for the past few years for instance, so it's

  7. On the subject of sponsorship and lower league team income, it should start with a premier league ban, these clubs are a size they should attract alternative sponsorship, then eventually filter it down

  8. C'mon now. The man just got convicted of assaulting and bribing a police officer. There's no fucking way he should be near the squad after his behaviour. What do you want them to do? Come out wearing Suarezesque t-shirts in support of him? Defend him all you want but if he played for any other team, there'd be no way you'd be doing the same. Even if he's completely innocent as you make out to be, he was a fucking idiot who deserves to be punished by his manager. Lets see if Ole or Man United have the stones to do the same.

  9. They could and should. These owners of these teams don't give a hoot about their supporters groups as much as they might indicate otherwise. They're all just paying customers.

  12. They're going to have to move him now. Basically PSG and Man City are the only two places I sense could land him. No idea what either gives up to do it, as it won't just be monetary. Though I saw Inter floated as a possibility which seems like a big drop for him. But they could easily send Martinez to Barcelona for him as part of a transfer.

  13. At this point, fuck it. Messi to Juve to play with Ronaldo. Dream Team pairing, and you get Fanboys unable to decide if they're loving the two together, or accusing the other of hogging the ball/attention to get all the goals and accolades

  15. I hope there's more to this than fancy CG dragon battles. With good writing, Daemon Targaryen could be a great television character, but he also seems like one who could be very easy to mess up.

  16. I won on like my fifth overall game! The servers seem to be totally busted and haven't tracked any of the games I play (yet) but I won a game! Block Party wiped out 16 of the 20 that were playing it and then ended up getting a last second win on Royal Fumble.

  17. I get where TCO is coming from. There’s a fair few English-born players that I’ve been happy to have in the Scotland team. And their affiliation isn’t as plastic as you might think: more often than not they have a Scottish dad who indoctrinates the poor boy into being a Scotland fan from birth, dooming him to a lifetime of disappointment. The reality is Scotland and Ireland are developing players from pretty small populations, but both have fairly large diasporas. At that scale you have to take advantages where you can get them.

  19. That's not a good squad. Spineless decision to include Maguire and has no left backs for some reason No Jack Grealish is a bit of a joke at this point too. Southgate must not like him for some reason or another. Still wonder what if for him. He'd have 50 caps, played at the Euros, potentially a World Cup and would likely be our next captain. 😭
