  1. Zombieland: 8/10 A fun little film. The Comedic cameo had me in stitches! Where The Wild Things Are: 9/10 I can see why some people might not like it but thankfully I'm not among them. I adored this film; the wild things themselves are technical marvels and the Cinematography is so far the best I've seen this year. I must mention the boy (Max Records) who plays Max was perfect....one of the best child performances....ever.
  2. My favorite scene of all his films http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNMXbeaKeak&feature=related RIP.
  3. Ugh...so something is wrong with my 360. I can play games fine, but it won't log my Gmaertag in, and the system no longer recognizes the hardrive so I can't even save anything and as a result I lost all my saved games. Since my warranty has expired I guess I'll have to fork out the cash for Microsoft to somehow fix this.
  4. So far...I'm impressed, and I think the Jackie Earle Haley is a great pick as he was absolutely fantastic as Rorscarch and incredibly creepy in Little Children. As the for the whole film I'll just have to see it, I thought Zombie's Halloween was decent, but the Friday The 13th remake boring after the first hour.
  5. Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince: 7.5/10 - A good film, beautiful cinematography, and great acting from the trio and the actoor who plays Professor Slughorn Terminator: Salvation: 6/10 I thought I'd hate this, but I actually enjoyed it until the cop-out ending.
  6. So I watched this, and I liked it. Nothing really happens until the end, but thats more in fault with the book then anything else. I actually enjoyed all the romantic themes in the film and the book, it was a nice breather before the epic events that take place in the 7th book and final two films. They still have a lot to explain though especially for Snape in order to actually 'get' what happens in the seventh book. One thing I did enjoy was slughorn, he was amazing, and the trio have really come a long way from their awkwardness in the first two films. The trio have never been better in the acting department.
  7. Truer words have never been said so elequoently (But I thought the first film was actually good for a beginning) As for G.I. Joe I don't see how it can be any worse then Transformers 2.....I mean the previews already show an improvment on acting. Still won't see it though, just not interested.
  8. Some of the movies I watched this Summer (so far), starting with the most recent: The Hangover: 8/10 -Great performances by the leads, and very funnyfrom beginning until end. Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen: 4/10 -Mind-numbing and painful to watch...and I loved the first one. But the effects were superb! Up: 9.5/10 -Pixar does it again. The most engaging film all year so far. It's also Pixar's most funniest. Star Trek: 8.5/10 A great way to open up my summer (avoided Wolverine and Terminator due to bad word of mouth and reviews from my Friends AND Critics), the acting was fantasting, especially the chemistry between all the members aboard the ship. The plot and villain weren't the best of the film, but they did not drag the film at all. And for someone who doesn't really like Star Trek...it was really fun and I'm now anticipating the next installment. Friday The 13th (Remake): 5/10 So I rented this as a horror fan, and even though some of the deaths were fun and with a very strong 15-20 minutes, it begain to get really boring at the end to the point where I wanted it to finish.
  9. I do hope UP gets in next year, as it was as good as Pixars Best. Seriously the only time I was let down from them was when Cars came out, and even that was just underwhelming. I do wish they adopted this in years past where films like Pans Labryinth, Eternal Sunshine, United 93, Children of Men and The Dark Knight (The biggest Movie of the Decade so far!!) might have had a chance making it in. Also, The Bourne Ultimatum could have made it in also (I mean it win 3 oscars, including Best Editing!). Just for fun though, here's what I think might get nominated (excluding foreign Films, cause unlike last year, I have no idea who the big players are): -Nine -Up -Avatar (The movie about Robots that will actually be good...It's Freakin James Cameron!) -Shutter Island -Precious (Getting Amazing buzz in the festival circuit) -Invictus (Eastwood Directing a Nelson Mandela pic w/ Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon=Oscar Nominee for sure) -The Lovely Bones (Peter Jackson + An Amazing novel=A Great Chance of a nomination) - A Foreign Language Film- Probably the one that won at Cannes - Green Zone (Paul Greengrass) -The Road or Where The Wild Things Are .... so I kinda cheated in the end
  10. The trailer looks fantastic, so far the best of 2009. I have high hopes for this film, it looks so much fun and just the trailer brings back memories of my childhood. I'm especially happy that the Wild things are not completley CGI and look very true to the book. Spike Jonze, don't let me down!
  11. I was originally going to give the Leafs the win in tomorow's game, but since the Ducks are coming to T.O. with another loss, the last thing they'll try is losing to the Leafs, lets just hope its a Rangers type of loss and not a Montreal beating. Oh and I love the lack of minutes Poni is getting, the less I see of him the better...thank you Ron Wilson. One final note, Schenn's 9 games are getting near the end, and I do hope we keep him, I don't think the minors would help in the development department in comparison to now plus I do believe he's been one of our top 4 defencemen.
  12. I just beat Galaxy man and everyone else's levels are just too damn hard. Lovely little game though worth every point!
  13. Glad that the leafs get a point tonight, not too pleased with losing the lead, reminding me too much of last year which is the last thing that should happen. I do think that Toskala just isn't a shootout goalie, although he is a monster in regular time (well depending on the defence of the leafs, if they're atrociously bad, then you can't really blame him). I love the additions of Moore and Kulemin, and the more I see of Schenn, the more he impresses me, I'm still hoping they don't send him down (and since White has been a healthy scratch, he might be the one to go back down to the minors, with Finger coming in). The thing is I'm really fond of White, and it seems to me he's more then a defenceman, and would probably play better as a winger (looking at his performance in the preseason). I would rather get rid of Stajan (his ship has sailed, at least to me) and Hollweg (there are good pests and bad pests, and Hollweg is at the extreme end of the bad spectrum). Overall though, I guess there were 2 HUGE positives for me this game: 1)We got a point even thought Hollweg kind of ruined us getting 2 points. 2)Looks like Kulemin is finally getting more responsibility and he's delivering. In the end though, we could (and probably should ) lose as many games as possible, but come fighting in each game so its worth watching in order to get one of those high draft picks. And with Wilson as the coach, I don't think we'll see as many bad losses as before. (Speaking of the draft Don't think we'd get Tavares or that Swede but another top 5 pick would be great).
  14. Shows I watch that are mainly targeted to tweens and under are Life with Derek, and thats about it? But back in the day it was pure awesomeness: Batman: the Animated series (I also liked Batman Beyond), Spider-man, X-men, Rocko's modern life, Looney Tunes, Power Rangers, Are you afraid of The Dark, and the list goes on and on. (Plus I could still watch them and enjoy them, especially the superhero shows were just amazing). So basically the kids today are getting the shaft in terms of shows. Plus I just don't have time checking the new stuff like Teen Titans and the new Spiderman animated series (which I heard was surprisingly good)
  15. Black Christmas: 3.5/10 Apparently this was a remake....was the original this horrid? The Descent: 8.5/10 IMO still the best horror film of the past 2 years....and 3rd best for this decade (counting Sixth Sense as horror and The Ring)
  16. Looks great and will probably be read and finished being read the same day I have it in my hands. (Y)
  17. The Dark Knight: 9.5/10 The best film of the year so far, and one of my personal favorite films. It's also far and away the best superhero film yet making films like X-2 and Spidey 2 look like 6/10 films rather then 9/10 films. Amazing performance by Ledger playing my favorite Batman and any other comic book hero villain, The Joker. and the film, even after 3 viewings (one Imax included), it never gets old. A wonderful epic and I don't mind it dethroning Star Wars at the #2 spot at all (There's still 3 star wars films anyway, and one in the #3 spot is no joke). Step Brothers: 4/10: A very stupid film that thinks swearing for the sake of swearing is funny. Wall-E: 9.4/10 The Second best film of the summer and the best animated film in years....even better then other great Pixar films like Finding Nemo and The Incredibles. Another personal favourite. What a summer.
  18. I personally thought 3 should have focused only on Harry and Sandman. They should have kept the black suit in it, and then introduce Venom right 'till the end....making Spidey 4 a film about Venom and possibly The Lizard (since Connors was in both the second and the third). But alas a shitstorm brew instead. And to think Spiderman 2 was one of the best superhero films of all time(along with X2, Batman Begins and SUperman) and yet spiderman 3 (with everyone still intact) was a disaster is kind of surprising.
  19. So Brooke is gone, and I knew it would hit her hard, I'm glad she's gone just because its more safe for her mentally to stay away. Honestly though, I could see Brooke being the only one from the rest of the group to actually go somewhere with a music career, while Syesha can do some broadway, as for the guys, I could care less. This season overall has been pretty weird, theres no great standout like other seasons but all 12 contestants were at the very least good to great. So I pretty much see a David/David final.

    Summer Films

I'm surprised not many are looking forward to what I think is going to be one of the biggest films of the year...WALL-E, it just looks epic PIXAR, and I just adored Finding Nemo, and the director from that is helming this. And looking at there track record, the only underwhelming Pixar film was Cars, but even that was tolerable. Anyway my list would go like this: 1.) Wall-E 2.) The Dark Knight 3.) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of The Crystal Skull 4.) Iron Man 5.) Prince Caspian 6.) Pineanpple Express 7.) Get Smart 8.) Hellboy 2 9.) Speed Racer 10.) Hancock I'll be there opening day for all these films, and hoping for the best as I have high expectations for all of them. Looks like its going to be a great summer after a very underwhelming first quarter of 2008 (One of the worst in a long time IMO) with regards to film.
  21. This game is just pure awesomeness, and I just can't get enough of Pit, easily my favorite character. Online is so-so, but glad its there. I still have jiggly, Wind Waker Link and that other fox bad guy to unlock. So addicting.
  22. 1.) Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back 2.) Almost Famous 3.) Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring 4.) Citizen Kane 5.) Terminator 2: Judgement Day 6.) The Godfather 7.) Casablanca 8.) No Country For Old Men 9.) There Will Be Blood 10.) The 40 Year Old Virgin 11.) Lord Of The Rings: The Return of The King 12.) Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind 13.) Aliens 14.) Pulp Fiction 15.) Goodfellas 16.) Raging Bull 17.) 2001: A Space Odyssey 18.) The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly 19.) Gone With The Wind 20.) Toy Story 2
  23. Here we go again, The globes are done and in less then a week the Academy will show their nominees, but we all know that the most important awards are the ones we give to our favourite films! So what films are eligible, I ususally use the eligibility list from the Academy, and here's the link Right here. You can choose up to 5 nominees in each respective category where the ranking plays a vital role to your films chances in making the cut. As for the ranking system: 1st Choice: 5 points 2nd Choice: 3 Points 3rd Choice: 2 Points Choices 4 and 5: 1 point each You must nominate at least 3 films in each category in order for your vote to be counted. The actual awards thread will be held sometine at the end of February (in terms of my work schedule) so lets just say your Ballots are due February 1st at 12:00 PM Eastern Time, and I will not count any ballots after that time. This will give me plenty of time to add up the tallies. As for the categories: Best Film Best Director Best Actor Best Actress Best Supporting Actor Best Supporting Actress Best Visual Effects Best Cinematography Best Fight Best Villain Best Animated Film Edit: Update: Sorry for not being too clear, the 3 category limit rule is for each category, your other votes for other categories will be counted. So don't bother nominating in categories that can only bring up less then 3 nominees. Oh, and just as Tom mentioned, your winners will be sent by PM once the nominees have been announced. I would perfer your nominees in this thread, but to the few members who gave me PM's, thats alright. As for my nominees: Best Film 1.) No Country For Old Men 2.) Ratatouille 3.) 24. 2007 was such a landmark year for games with great AAA titles coming out for all systems. Each system also had that one game that made everyone turn their heads. The only problem was near the end of the year, eveything came out at the same time, which really made my wallet bleed, but man was it worth it! Another question is what game was the most dissapointing to you last year? It's actually a hard choice for me between Bioshock for the 360 and Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii, both games are just absolutely perfect. But in the end of the day, I went for my old friend Mario, playing Galaxy was like playing Super Mario 64 for the first time....but now with an even better soundtrack! Bioshock comes reall, really close, and special mentions goes to Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, and Guitar Hero 3. I've yet to play Rockband but I'll get my hands on it soon. As for the most dissapointing game, the honuors go to Assasins Creed which after the first 2 assissantions, I just got bored of playing it. The sad thing is that its gorgeous, and had potential. Anyway on to 2008 which brings Brawl, Final Fantasy, Solid Snake, and Dante for our gaming pleasure! Boy, was that stupid, the thread was right in front of me and I still missed it. But yeah here's my top 10: 1.) Super Mario Galaxy 2.) Bioshock 3.) Guitar Hero 3 4.) Call of Duty 4 5.) Mass Effect 6.) Halo 3 7.) NHL 08 8.) Metroid Prime 3: Corruption 9.) Uncharted: Drakes Fortune 10.) The Orange Box
