  13. Add Kobald, Kodama & Obariyon to the database & add them to the CHIKARA roster as the stable the Batiri (with Sinn Bohdi). Also add a relationship as proteges to both Sinn Bohdi & Mike Quackenbush.
  14. One of my favorites as a child and still has a soft spot in my heart is Rockman (Megaman) and Blues (Protoman). I'll have to post back later with a few more after giving this some thought.
  15. In regards to this comment, Teej... Spoiler: Click here to viewDo you mean Tommy being Hush? Or, the rumor that originally Hush was meant to be Jason Todd as they flirted with & eventually most of the fans figured on (thus why they changed it or so the rumor goes)? Or...am I forgetting some thing from the ending?
  16. Eh, some one actually pointed that out on a couple of boards and I think even earlier in this thread. Though as much as I like the Riddler and think he could work if done correctly, I doubt the Joker would work for it. In pretty much every cannon comic that's addressed it and hasn't hinted Joker knows, Joker shows very little interest in finding out who Batman is. It is a after thought for the most part in the enjoyment he gets out of the chaos & carnage the two of them cause together. Then again, there was the Gordon reveal scene, so there is always the option Joker is still curious at first. Eventually true to his nature, he changes his mind & doesn't care about who Batman is and turns on Reese. Since as shown by DK, Joker may be a dog but he's one that tends to bite the hand that feeds it and turns on its master (the mob). Besides, IF and it is a big if, Reese is Riddler...I especially can't see the Joker following some one like him for long (mostly out of ego/pride). There's always the thought that Mr. Reese is a red herring/tease too. (The cat comment amongst other things, ect.) Though the idea is appealing simply for the potential can of worms (that I've always enjoyed in the comics) it opens with the Batman & Dent relationship.
  17. Not sure if it still counts but Edward Nygma (a.k.a. the Riddler) knew after using the Pits to cure the cancer he had a bout with (during the two Hush arcs). As well as it has been hinted (in recent years before the shake up, heavily) that the Joker knows who Batman really....he just doesn't care about that side of Bruce because he sees the truth. BW is the mask, Batman's the one that is the real deal & the one that interests him. (The infamous line he used at one point to pretty much all but confirm it being "Even a crazy person can put two and two together to get four, Bats"). EDITED NOTE: Pre-Crisis Bane & Hush too, obviously.
  18. Saw it again a few days back and it was during that second showing (in IMAX which made the movie that much better) I caught one of many things I didn't the first time. After Batman steps in during that alley scene where Harvey is going to "blow the brains out of" one of Joker's men, Batman says his name. It might've been just because of the fact he said it kinda fast & his "death metal" voice can be hard to understand at times but I could've sworn he said the Mad Hatter's real name. Perhaps setting up a baddie for the future or maybe just a tease (similar to how the cats line between Fox & Bruce got people thinking of Catwoman). Another line I didn't originally pick up at the midnight showing I went to the first time as funny as it is was this gem from Fox & Bruce... Bruce: It uses sonar? So like a... Fox: Yes Mister Wayne, like a submarine. Cue a smirk and nod from Bruce. (For those that don't know, bats use sonar too.)
  19. Also pretty much any of the Joker based graphic novels they've published as they have inspired a lot. (The Man Who Laughs being where they got the scars and the Killing Joke inspiring a lot of his mentalty in the movie). You can get these at Barnes & Noble and Borders for pretty cheap. (Including Watchmen, Hellboy, Sin City, tons of Marvel and other DC stuff, JTHM, ect).
  20. To be fair, he didn't exactly let Ra's die. It was a gray area to be sure but it stayed within his general code and single rule he goes by. As he said in the scene, just because he wouldn't kill him doesn't mean he has to save his life either. Ra's taught Bruce all Bruce knows and Ra's clearly had a few tricks he didn't teach his pupil, and has been shown to be rather resilient (even in this version). Batman/Bruce gave him a means to escape (the window) if he wanted to take it and they did the old Hollywood trick of cutting away from Ra's & leaving it vague enough that the question does linger (whether he died or not). Which I think was partially some thing Nolan did on purpose (as a seed to leave behind if he ever needs Ra's again or if another director takes over and wants to bring him back). Not sure where you heard that, the Nolan brothers have said time and time again that they've been fans of the comics for some time (I believe since childhood). Admittedly, having not liked certain aspects of the comics which makes me doubt we'll see them on the big screen any time soon (namely Robin...not that it is a bad thing Robin will be missing).
  21. I wouldn't even say that the Joker is the most out landish character they've taken a realistic twist on. Ra's al Ghul was a immortal that has lived for thousands(/millions, it varies from story to story) of years and has in that time built a underground black market empire. Not exactly a story that has its foot firmly placed within the realms of our every day world. Yet they didn't address certain aspects of the character (without flat out denying them, Ra's even teasing Bruce of whether he was immortal or not in Begins at the party) and it worked, very well. Just like I've seen some dismiss the Riddler as a future bad guy, a guy running around & stealing things and leaving clues in their place? Yeah, no, that wouldn't work out at all and would be rather campy. But to make him what Nolan suggested Spoiler: Click here to viewa hacker for all intents & purposes, that could go some where. Would it be killings on the scale of the Joker? Probably not but it could cause mass panic in Gotham as most things now (and especially in the slightly "in the near future" Gotham) are run by computer. Things start going wrong, bank accounts emptying, trains' schedules going hay wired & some colliding, planes crashing, car accidents by stop lights being altered, ect, all the while little riddles being the only thing the Riddler leaves behind (almost mocking the police & others to try and get him). And, the more I think about it, the more I actually do like the idea of Depp as Riddler better than Joker. Plus as a side note, with that gimmick in the movie...the viral marketing pretty much writes itself (). I mean, I'll throw out another example of the rogue's gallery that with a little tweaking could work (in a minor role similar to Scarecrow's in DK), Killer Croc. Big mutant guy that looks like a lizard doesn't work, for obvious reasons. But a big guy who is muscle for hired (as Croc was pretty much in the comics) who is into body modification & tattoos and under goes heavy body art & plastic surgery to attain what he wants (that "lizardish" look some people have in real life), boom, Killer Croc (explains where his name comes from even). Also Reaper... Spoiler: Click here to viewThat was the point, Joker told two different stories of how he got his scars because its implied even he doesn't know who he is any more. His mind is constantly changing who he is of his own whim and he refuses or just doesn't care to face his actual past, whatever it may be. This image of a walking enigmatic chaos was further put over when Gordon said they couldn't find matches for his prints or even his DNA. Which, is partially why the more I think about it, the more I actually kinda like the idea of the Joker constantly being recasted. He changes so much in the comics and his appearance while it stays a basic outline, changes just as much due to various artists drawing him. Each actor could bring some thing new to him without having to measure up to Heath's performance or god forbid, having to TOP it. They could do their own things, just as Heath did and it could stay within the realm of the character's personality and that's kinda the beauty of the Joker. He can be nearly any thing you need him to be. As DMN said, I'm oddly even more pumped about the franchise than I was after I saw Begins (which left me really excited as both was it a great movie & it teased my favorite, the Joker coming back to the big screen). Because if Nolan stays on, it means most of the cast stays on (Bale, Freeman, Gary, Michael, ect) which has helped carry the workload of these movies. As well as Nolan has taken both pieces in such different directions & feels (while managing to make them feel like part of the same story and not feel disjointed or like different films entirely such as the earlier franchise did), proving he could do the same with what's to come. There's over fifty years worth of comics of Batman the Nolans can tap into and morph to bring it to reality, and it is both amazing (and kinda sad) they are the first ones with the movies to really get they can do that with Batman (and that people want to see it).
  22. About that, DMN... Spoiler: Click here to viewIt was rumored Phillip was going to cameo as the Penguin in Dark Knight before the movie came out. There was even some steam behind it with a leaked script with some name changes listing one character some thing along the lines of "Iceberg". Then in one of the photos for the viral marketing there was a ad in it for the "Iceberg" club, the place owned by the Penguin. It was later dismissed by Nolan and as we see, no Penguin in the Dark Knight. Though I think the character could still work, as a main baddie with the mobsters behind him? Naw, for the very same reasons that Black Mask or Scarecrow couldn't work as a movie carrying opposite to Batman, they are just barely above the mobs & gangs. However, Penguin as a side character that owns the night club as a front for his dirty dealings & informant for Batman as he became later on in the comics? That I could see working really well and adding another element to the movies. For those that cry for realism, you don't need to make the Penguin...Danny Devito. Make him short, fat, wear suits and carry around a umbrella (tricked out or not), and boom, there you go. If the constant wearing of tuxs weren't enough to warrant his nickname, give Oswald a beakish nose like some people have without going over board with it. No need for the weird hands or bird cries or circus freak background, ect. Pretty much the only character off the top of my head I can't see taking a realistic approach with is Mr. Freeze. But even Zero provided a some what interesting solution to the problems he as a character creates.
  23. With the future of Dent... Spoiler: Click here to viewThe reason why I (can't speak for others) varied on Dent's fate is that he fell from pretty high up, yes but so did Batman. It isn't out of the realm of a realistic cop out by saying he was just knocked out and banged up badly from the fall, even if Batman also had his armor to soften the fall. I wouldn't like it and would prefer Dark Knight to be the end of Harvey but just saying, it could happen. Especially with the future of the Joker character now up in the air with Heath's death. Plus as others have said, you never saw the body after the fall & aftermath. As for Mysterio's post... Spoiler: Click here to viewNot sure about how truthful that spoiler about the third film is. Since some of the things they made mention of, Harvey to be more precise, pretty much happened in Dark Knight. From the Gordon/Harvey/Batman trio alliance to Harvey's fall from grace to even his "death" in the Dark Victory, the continuing saga of LH. As well as I said for various reasons, the Holiday Murderer angle would need a lot of tweaking if they were to use it. Some thing that seems so much of a friggin' trouble when you won't get the big pay off it got in the comics and could use a similar scenario with Calendar Man much easier. And, dam's... Spoiler: Click here to viewEh, guess we'll have to respectfully agree to disagree on that. With or without Alice in Wonderland being a iconic theme that many have used or been inspired by, I think it could still work. If any thing, I think that is partially what could make a realistic Mad Hatter work so well. Him taking some thing most relate to their childhood, some thing innocent & pure and twisting it into some thing ugly & demented. Much like the Joker does with the image of a clown for most.
