  5. No no, I know it takes a long time (played this game many many times). But it IS actually freezing on me, and I'm not actually doing the ctrl-alt-delete thing. Truly odd. I'm sure it's still something to do with the data being corrupted, just not sure HOW it's getting that way. Thanks anyway
  6. Trying to start a new game, and just downloaded the January update from another topic in this forum. The problem is, all the staff members are set with contracts about to expire, and they refuse to begin negotiations with me. Tried a few different things (going into the file editor, using the arsenic editor), but so far nothing is working. Have also been having a problem with the game ALWAYS freezing as it's trying to set up the database for a new game, which I guess could be causing the problems. Any other thoughts or ideas?
  7. Is it just me, or did that half feel like it took forEVER?
  8. Sounds about right. I'm not a huge Saints fan and love to shove it right in my Saints-lovin' friend's face when Atlanta beats them, but when Nawlins won the Bowl a while ago, I bought him a drink and celebrated the victory. That's how I handle these situations...except for the Phillies. Fuck them. I WILL NEVER FORGET 1993, YOU INSECTS! Philly earned my hate by cheering for Michael Irvin's career ending injury. Fuck Philly, and their fans.
  9. Be Prepared is awesome, no doubt. Though I also like Frollo's "Hellfire" song from Hunchback of Notre Dame. Pretty heavy stuff. And on topic, that's a villain that I liked that I'm sure I wasn't supposed to. Probably because of that song actually.
  10. So the Dr. thinks I have West Nile Virus. Yay?

If you get West Niles Virus, you become addicted to expensive wine and fall in love with your aging fathers personal helper.

      (I'm so sorry.)

  11. I honestly wonder if he didn't say that simply because he's running out of guys to throw at Jon Jones at 205. Seriously, if he beats Hendo, there's who left who would be looked at as any kind of a serious threat? Gustaffson, maybe?
  12. Louis CK stand-up on Netflix. I needed a good long laugh.
  13. So TMZ is reporting that Jon Jones totaled his car and got arrested for DUI. Then got bailed out by his mom. Wow. Just...wow.
  14. Also found that Romo has the most yardage, second most touchdown passes and third highest passer rating in the fourth quarter by any QB since '08. That's all well and good, and in fact, I was aware of all of that. But pure numbers don't always tell the entire story. Look, I support Romo because he's my teams QB, and he's a good QB, and lord KNOWS he's not the only thing that's kept the Cowboys from achieving what they should have achieved. But it's like I've told my friends: There's a difference between Tony Romo and QB's like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. Romo really likes to win. Those guys HATE to lose. It's a leadership mentality that I think lets Romo down at the most inopportune times. He's not the only QB in the league that (I feel) lacks it, but he's the one on MY team that lacks it, so obviously I'm going to focus more on him than any others. Again, I hope that he proves all of the doubters, myself included, wrong this year. Lord knows it's been long enough since the Cowboys made a serious run deep into the playoffs. I need SOMETHING to say to the Saints/Ravens/Steelers fans that make up my workplace.
  15. Should be a good fight, and I honestly think that the winner would stand a good chance against Cruz coming off of his surgery and recovery. One thing that I was thinking about (and I'm sure has been pointed out many times already) is that so much of Cruz's game is based around his speed and movement, that it makes you wonder if he'll be nearly as good when he comes back. I know he'll have the best rehab and all of that, but still, that kind of injury isn't easy to come back from, and just look at the NFL where some running backs/wide receivers NEVER fully are 100% afterwards. I'm sure he'll still be good, but just HOW good?
  16. I'll grant you that weird stuff sometimes happens to a QB and that it's not always that QB's fault. But when so much weird stuff seems to happen around ONE QB, whats the common denominator there? That, plus his less than impressive December winning percentage are my main problems with him. And sorry, but no, I don't hold that playoff game against the Seahawks against him. He shouldn't have been holding on that kick to begin with. And let me just say that I'll agree that Romo wasn't the big problem last year, the defense was. Or more precisely, the defense's inability to hold onto a LEAD was the problem last year. There's no doubt that Romo has tons of talent. But I'm just afraid that MENTALLY he's not ever going to get over the hump. I hope I'm wrong. I really really do.
  17. Yeah, I grew up in Texas, so it's ingrained in me, lol. And even before that, I knew about and liked the Cowboys thanks to my Mom, who was a big fan of Roger Staubach. And I was lucky enough to marry a woman who's just as big a Cowboys fan as I am. And she gets even MORE upset when they lose, which makes for fun times at our house.
  18. That's why I put it in quotes. As far as Dallas' defense goes, that's one of the main reasons I'm happy with their off-season pick-ups. Through free agency and teh draft, they addressed their biggest defensive need, which was the secondary. They already had one of the best defenders in the league (imo anyway) with Demarcus Ware, and adding some guys behind him that can hopefully stop SOME of the passing attacks will only help. Not saying they'll be on the level of the Bears that year or the Ravens in 2000, but should be a strength now instead of a liability.
  19. That whole "Rex Grossman taking the Bears to the Superbowl" thing actually gives me some hope that if HE can do it, then maybe Romo can too. Romo may be inconsistent and big the worst times to implode, but he's not NEARLY on the same level as Rex Grossman. On his BEST day I don't think Grossman was really near the top of the QB heap, and Romo has definitely been there.
  20. I'm trying to be in pro-Romo mode, and I really hope he proves me wrong. Told my wife that I thought this could be the year for something good to happen. So we'll see.
  21. Now, I like McKenzie and everything, but I just don't see this fight going well for him. At ALL.
  22. Yeah, like I've told all my friends, Romo is the type of QB who is just good enough to lose you the big game. And he's so damn inconsistent. He can throw for 330 yards and 3 TDs one week, and toss 3 INT's and fumble twice the next. I've honestly never thought of him as a clutch QB just for that reason. I really don't see the Cowboys ever winning a Super Bowl with him as QB.
