No matter who wins now, this was what I want a world cup final to be.

Second world cup in a row where we get a group stage rematch in the game for 3rd place.

After that awesome last second FK goal, I wanted the Netherlands to win. But still, what an entertaing match that was.

I low key wanted to see a France - Argentina rematch in the round of 16, because I like big names meeting early in the knock out stages, but alas. Poland going past the group stage in the first time since forever is also nice. Too bad for the Saudis they couldn't keep their momentum from their victory.

The Portuguese defending the penalty point against potential tempering had me laughing hard 🤣

Most games this world cup so far have been on the "Meh..." side of things. But I enjoy these wild results a lot.

No way today's Germany is beating today's Spain next game.

I'm so glad I decided to not get emotionally involved anymore after 2014 - good for my nerves AND I can enjoy another underdog getting the upset victory. Hope we get even more crazy stuff this group stage.

I had this absurd thought of FIFA going full WWE with this World Cup, having Qatar reach the final by blatant cheating and corruption, only to be beaten narrowly by plucky babyface Denmark. But, oh no! Out comes Mr. Infantino, the evil boss, telling them Denmark is only considered world champion if they beat Russia immedeatily - playing with 13 men and captained by Putin himself.

This was a fun world cup overall, I was mostly well entertained this past few weeks. The next one will be really weird.

If nothing changes soon, I wonder if England just stops trying to score, because they really don't want to take this into extra time.

I just saw the referees assigned to the quarter finals. How is it okay for an argentinian ref to direct the game of France - Uruguay after France kicked out Argentina the round before? Even the fairest and most integer referee on the planet, there will be people doubting his every decision against France. Shouldn't FIFA look to avoid such things?
