Finished watching over the weekend. Loved it, captured everything I adore about the Fallout games, some great characters, the comedy landed more than it didn't and it had Kyle MacLachlan in it. What's not to love?

None of the above. It was dogmeat.

I went to the premier last week. It was dope. I got cool pins and a set of perk cards. The entrance was through an actual vault, and everyone who worked there were in vault 33 jump suits. I got a bunch of free beer that came served in blue pint glasses, a hot dog that was cold, popcorn and sealed metal bottles of vault-tec verified purified water. Then I got to watch the first two episodes on a giant cinema screen in a room that was decorated to look like Vault 33 with all the corn and stuff. Harry from The Traitors was sitting in front of me, and Demi from Love Island was in the next row. Also Jonathan Ross was there, but I think we can all agree that that's not as exciting as Harry from The Traitors or Demi from Love Island. Afterwards there was a Q&A with Jonathan Nolan, Todd Howard, one of the writers, Ella Purnell who plays Lucy (she's lovely ), Aaron Moten who plays Maximus, Walton Goggins who is Walton Goggins and Kyle MacLachlan who played Zack Carey in seminal 90s sexathon Showgirls. It was rad. I'd fully recommend going to premiers because you don't have to pay for anything and you get a bunch of free shit. My wife was blown away by how short Todd Howard was.

Chapter 10 spoilers

Yep, that's exactly what I'm referring to. What a moment. I love how it's so different to the original yet so true to the mythos. I genuinely can't believe this game exists. Like, it's definitely bloated and I'm going to have complaints about the open world and pacing for sure, but as a work of fan service it's absolutely phenomenal. This is the Avengers Endgame of Final Fantasy, it's big and messy and probably doesn't hold up to much scrutiny, but I've never had so much fun.

Chapter 9 spoilers

Chapter 4, anyone managed to pressure the Fonadu in the optional combat encounter thing? I know you've got to evade his Death From Above ability, but he barely ever does it and it's super tight on timing. Very annoying. Bah.

I'm still very early on, running some side quests in chapter 2, but man, I can't believe this game exists. Remake was a somewhat flawed but wonderful dose of fan-service that I overall adored, this takes that fan-service to the next level. I'm sure I'll have similar complaints about the pacing (as by design in games this big), but as long as it keeps dishing up these grandiose versions of characters, enemies and locales I fell in love with over 25 years ago, I know I'm going to come away with a smile on my face.

Yesterday I completed Demon's Souls, my first ever actual Souls game, having previously only played (and adored) Bloodborne and Elden Ring. Good game, although definitely of its time, and held back by some really bizarre and opaque systems (opaque even for FromSoft), but lays the foundations for arguably one of the best developers going. I was overall disappointed by the bosses, with only 2/3 of them offering any serious challenge, the rest seemed overly reliant on gimmicks over difficulty, but the levels themselves were all mostly fantastic (with the exception of the poison swamp, obvs). A friend of mine once said it's the best 7/10 game of all time, and I'm inclined to agree, because it's definitely hampered by its numerous drawbacks, but it sinks it's teeth in like only FromSoft can.

Now that there's been some time since I finished it I feel I can safely say Garl is one of the best JRPG characters of all time.

Not a misheard lyric, but until last year I thought they were called the Manic Street Peaches. I owned multiple of their albums. It was all really very embarrassing.

My only FIFA experience in the last 20 years is FIFA 22, and my only experience of that was career mode. With that in mind, what am I doing and when am I doing it?

Serious question, has much changed gameplay wise since FIFA 22?

My new phone contract started yesterday, which means I got gamepass back yesterday, hurrah! Played up to an including the first boss last night. It's really good but I also don't know if it's going to get its hooks in me or if I'm going to stick with it. It's definitely a Bloodborne cover album, and whilst I don't inherently have any major issue with that, it does mean I'm scrutinizing every aspect of it. It's very much a case of if you're going to take a run at the King, you better not miss, because I found myself just wishing I was playing Bloodborne the entire time I was playing it. I might keep going, but I've also just started Cyberpunk, Starfield is calling out to me, Spider-Man and Alan Wake are weeks away and I still haven't finished Armoured Core, Jedi Survivor or Tears of the Kingdom. This year has been an absolute embarrassment of riches.

Please do not put me in goal, I would like to actually enjoy playing.

Rolled credits on Sea of Stars yesterday, now working on 100%. Excellent game. Thoroughly recommend.
