  1. Tetris isn't just influential. It's freakin' god. Its as addictive today as it was back whence. Final Fantasy's appeal to RPG's, Tetris appeals to people who like puzzles. Theyre different types of games but you can't discredit one or the other. Tetris is massive. FF is too, but to a different audience. I only ever liked FF7. Love that game. 'greatest game ever' might also consider accesibility. Children and old folks can't really get into the ultra violent games. Games like Tetris, Pacman etc are universal. That shouldn't make it lose its list cred
  2. I thought Rowan Atkinson effectively did this in Rat Race? And im sorry. But I will never agree to any company messing with Mutley. He's like.. untouchable.. except with a pencil. I'd prefer a Wacky Race animation movie. Like I dunno 'Wacky Races: Paris to Dakaar' (sp?). That I could accept. But mess with Mutley at your peril. For Dick Dastardly though, I gotta go with the guy who played King Arthur in Spamalot in the UK were talking around about December 2006. Dont know what his name was, but he was perfect. if anybodies good at figuring that stuff out, go ahead
  3. which is just so professional and cool. I thought he was Robert DeNiro with his mannerisms.
  4. Bah. Im back (who am I? I dont remember myself). Loving the SIMS 2 finally having bought all of the expansion packs (minus pets & seasons & free time...) and spend all my time forcing Barry Delsan, a Sim-Italian into becoming a legendary businessman. He's top of business career comfortably and I had him running The Corner Shop before I sold up, sold up his shack of a house and moved him into that big $77k home. Which i've decided is ridiculously huge so I'm going to move him out again, buy an empty plot of land and build a home and a homebusiness on it. My ambition for him is to open Delsan Home Stores (DHS) which will be a Wallmart/town centre construction lots of different shops/restaurants/gym etc on the same location. Liberal usage of the ticket machine shall be employed!

uhm... smith is on tonight at 10?
  6. Im hooked. Perry is going to get an Emmy nomination and thats on the strength of one episode. I was following it in the UK for months, and was delighted to be here in the US to see the first episode (will see the 2nd one also). and I really look forward to C4/E4 or Sky picking this up. Thats where the show will justify its cost - in syndication.
  7. Ok.. a little update..... My career so far... 05/06 - Relegated on the last day of season with Middlesbrough to the Championship. I jumped before I was pushed, and resigned joining Championship side Wolves. 06/07 - Finished mid-table after a strong near all season push for the playoffs. Bitterly dissapointing. 07/08 - Finished a place lower than the season before, but the Wolves side is taking shape. Sold the clubs hero to Middlesbrough which got me a lot of flack but I was spoilt for great strikers. 08/09 - Hurrah! Finished 3rd in the league and got to the FA Cup Final with Wolves. Lost in the FA Cup Final to Arsenal but became best buddies with Wenger as a result and earned the club a route into Europe. Won the playoff final against Bolton just. In the january transfer window I brought the clubs hero back for a fraction of what I sold him for... great piece of business. 09/10 - The Wolves are back in the premiership and struggling in the first quarter at the bottom half of the league. Expectations were to rebuild the team. My deciscion? To jump before my ship went down as dutch underachievers PSV came in and offered me the chance to take over! I hopped into the Dutch league and worked a success story with them pushing PSV to the quarter finals of UEFA Cup, the finals of the Dutch Cup (lost to Ajax on penalties.. Ajax are phenomenal) and their first runners up spot in the Dutch League since the game started. I was going for a 'racially pure' dutch side by selling all foreigners (or those who didnt have a Dutch Nationality anyway) and this seemed to backfire... 10/11 - We got hammered by Ajax in the Super Cup and destroyed by a russian side in the 3rd Round Qualifier for the CHampions League. Maybe it hadnt been a good idea to sell all those top foreigners. On an off chance i declared interest in the Crystal Palace (premiership, rich) job and this sent the fans into a riot at PSV. Within a few weeks I was SACKED despite finally turning in the teams first victories (i had gone on a 8 match loss streak previously). Primera Liga topping Alaves were interested in me offering me their job for 3yrs, but their stadium is crap, their bank balance poor. and I'm above all that now! I managed PSV to a runnersup spot damnit! I really fancied cracking the french league for the first time and I declared interest in Bordeoux, Lens and Marseille, with the chairmen all saying they might hire me. None of them did, and I landed up BACK in the Championship in england managing debt laden Southampton (they have 16m in the bank but thats on a 25m loan). How the mighty have fallen. Lesson to be learned people, dont get too big for your boots...
  8. Not a good game to play on my flight to america "BANG!" Ahhh! Terrorists! hmm.. I'll buy it when I get to america if its available in Cape Cod or New York.
  9. No chance about Mario appearing on Sony. The Wii will still come in as #3 out of the main consoles but it'll crack them a new market and earn them enough money to continue. And they are still untouchable in the portable gameplayer department. PSP for all its gadgets just hasnt wrested the market from them. To better illustrate - the PSP has only 1 wall at my local GAME shop w/movie titles included. The Nintendo DS has 1 and a half walls, and the GBA has another half of a wall.
  10. He's said that his playing days are over. He's maintaining his player contract though "just incase theres a crisis" by which he means injury crisis which is shrewd.
  11. LBTN is correct. Expect coops to be part of the management staff when its all settled after the summer. If LMA think they can stop Gibson theyve got another thing coming. King is dead, long live the King! Looking forward to the new season now that the structure at the club (and culture) isnt going to be upset by some foreigner. also: remember that Gibson has always appointed first time managers (since he took sole control at the boro in the early 90's) and he got it right both times with Robson and McClaren. I trust his judgement in gatesy.
  12. I dont understand, why arent you just clicking player search, nationality Scottish. Voala. Regardless of league, there they are. Sort by value, then filter by position as you pick squad. Easy. in news for my game, my first two matches as manager of the United States of America? 2-1 victory over Paraguay, at home in my first match in charge. 2-0 victory over Holland, AWAY!! The press called it a huge upset. But the dutch were limp as anything. Partly because a quarter of their squad were PSV players and I sabotaged them by giving 45 minute instructions as PSV manager. Meant if I got the lead in the first half, they wouldn't have the players to make a comeback in second half. Paid off brilliantly! Conflict of interests? Naaah. I just managed to draw my first PSV game 2-2 away from home. I expected to walk all over my opposition but it had to take a load of tactical changes late in the second half to salvage a draw against NAC Breda. I need 2 left sided midfielders, and a veteran dutch goalkeeper to act as back up when the window opens in a months time.
  13. Yeah... I like uhm... Rock. Atleast the press think so. In my game, I finally got Wolves promoted at the third attempt (4th season of the game, 1st was relegation with boro). Finished 3rd and won the Playoff with Bolton to get into the premiership. I also had an incredible run to the finals of the FA Cup, losing out to Arsenal (and earning a new best buddy in Arsene) and picking up a UEFA Cup place for Wolves first year back in the top flight. Total restructuring of my midfield in the summer brought in the likes of Mark Bresciano (australian), Luigi Di Biagio (replacing Gaizka Mendieta as the 'experienced head' in my team. Mendi went on a free to Norwich despite me offering him a new 1yr deal) and various others. Started good with a 5-1 romping against Birmingham. But then I had like 7 draws in a row, and lost 2 after that. In europe, I snuck into the group stages of the uEFA Cup, won my first game against STeau and then lost to Celtic. At this time, THE USA offered me the managers job of their national side, I took it and briefly had a Continental Reputation. This is important... because as I felt, being in my last year of contract with Wolves and about to fight a relegation battle I thought it was time to end my stay. So I was looking around and noticed Guus Hiddink under some considerable strain at PSV. I declared interet, and the press seemed to think I would be THE man to replace Guus should he be fired. Better than them laughing at me. Guus was fired 3 days later, the chairman rejecting accusations by the press that he was already talking to a replacement saying instead he'd take his time. That same day I agreed an $18,750 a week, 2 and a half year deal. I'm going to PSV! Ive only briefly looked over the squad but it is BRIMMING with talent. The youth team is incredible, no reserves to speak of, and a first team thats only got 4 non-Dutch nationals. Its my dream project with PSV now to kick out the foreign mercs and lead an all dutch squad to Dutch League and European Glory. Once I achieve that, I'll try and build a LOCAL team and send it to victory. Oh yeah, they are still in UEFA Cup and top of their group so Ive made a huge step forward in my career rather than a step back (which was what I did when i went from Boro to Wolves). Oh and coincidentally.. my first international friendly with the USA? Who the opponent is? Holland. It was a sign. transfer kitty of £7.25m. IF I sell the four foreigners in the first week of the january transfer window I can probably raise that to about £10.5m which I can then invest in snatching up cheap talented dutch players. Gonna be fun~~

The creator dude is just a god when it comes to gaming. I like his quote where he says "Well, there goes my rep as a non violent game maker" since you can make your creatures wage war. It looks so awesome but its been in development for sooo long... I just wanna play it! Mind you, if they pull off everything they've promised with regards to tiny graphics files etc then it should be a hguely enjoyable playing experience without all the shoddy loading times we get with most modern games. I cant wait. Robin Williams > * Robin Williams creature > Will Wrights
  15. hehe, not in the game I was playing. Casillas was the Goalkeeping God and had been for about four-five years undisputedly. Me as Valencia, Barcelona and AC Milan had been embroiled in a bidding war for 18 months before I finally got the guy for £60m. He was that good he made instant imp[act and I woulda won the damned title if I hadn't bankrupted the club and got fired As for most expensive FLOP, that would go to Diego. I signed the guy for £15m for Middlesbrough on the game before the valencia one, and whilst he was usually an ever present, the guy did f all. Eventually sold him for £500k after four seasons. huge.. huge loss. In my current game that I profiled a season of a few pages back, I'm with WOlves and doing the opposite. I've been so shrewd in my investments in young players from the youth teams of premiership clubs and the squads of scottish teams (a freaking gold mine) that I sold Kenny Miller for £2.9m + 50% sell on with his replacement costing only about 110k (and now being courted by Chelsea), just sold Kris Boyd whose followed me from club to club and made a cracking profit on him. I bought him for 1.5m for middlesbrough, then bought him for WOlves for 250k from the boro. I sold him on to Wigan for 2.5m. Nice profit~~ And i've just about finished the sale of a former middlesbrough youth player who I signed for 55k, for a cool £1m to Spurs - Jason Kennedy. Kennedy has slowly matured over the last two season and has been BLISTERING this year to the point he was keeping new free signings Luke Moore and the GOD that is Marcus Bent out of the team. (Bent btw has 20 goals in 20 starts). I could either keep Kennedy and upset people because ive got such a great strikeforce (theyd all want to play eventually), or sell one, make a huge profit, and invest a tiny fraction of that into another youth player to send into my youth team for a few years. I took the money! I didn't have to sign anybody however tho because Norways #1 young striker arrived on a bosman in November. I feel guilty I have such an embarrasment of riches in attack.
  16. my last game on the old FM, last season, last transfer window all before i put the new CD in I was bloody determined to finally crack the Primera Liga with Valencia after 8 years trying. The one constant hole in my side... goal keeper. So I bit the bullet, after accumalating a HUGE transfer kitty (about 35% more than I actually had in the bank.. but hell, I'm not the one doing the accounting). I threw a £60m bid at Iker Casillas at Real Madrid. I'd been pursuing him since day one and was chuffed as pie to finally get the bugger. Ofcourse, his outstanding performances didn't matter. That £60m outlay in one lump sum meant I was bankrupt 3 weeks before the end of the season... DOH! I feel much safer playing with a couple of hundred grand here and there at Wolves now lol...
  17. Dont diss Maldini ;-) He'll outlast all of these whippersnappers. COuple of hip operations, knee joint replacements, he'll go till he's 60.
  18. 2006/07 is finished... and my first year with Wolves (in Championship) has fizzled out. After a good start, 1/4 way through the season things were going wrong and I could smell a repeat of my relegation season with the Boro. I bollocked the team after two matches and they responded sending us on a undefeated streak through to the end of January. Star Discovery was 19yr old Wayne Hennessey who was a rock between the sticks in goal. However he got an injury in december, was out for a month came back and never really recovered his form. We slipped out of the playoff positions and I threw the more experienced keeper into goal to steady the ship. I went through three different formations over the course of the season and masterminded a series of huge victories such as; 5-2 over COventry 5-1 over Plymouth 7-2 over Preston (Away!) 5-1 over Fulham and loads of 3-1's and 3-0's. Had the third stingiest defence at home (i.e. best). Jody Craddock one of my key defenders made it onto the subs bench for the 'Players Team of the Year'. It was a brutal dissapointment to go so close to pressing for 2nd automatic qualification spot to end up with WOlves worst finish in the game (11th) though my board and fans were still delirious with it. The chairmans been generous in the close season giving me 4 budgets to choose from and I've plomped for £100k a week wages, and £700k transfer kitty. I've overseen a mini clear out ahead of the new season; Darren Anderton (AM/MR) & Michael Oakes (GK) released on frees. Anderton was useless for most of the season. Oakes was reserve keeper and his wages were too much for such a person. Ian Black (DM) to Preston for £250k, his own transfer request. Jody Craddock (DC) to Crystal Palace for £250k. I agreed this deal expecting to be playing Wolves in the premiership and thus needing better defenders. Turns out i'm stuck in the Championship and my star defender has just been sold... grrr... and most controversial of all. The sale of 2x Fans Player of the Year and 20+ goal scorer KENNY MILLER, for a cut-price 2.9m to my rivals Middlesbrough. Bastards got their own back on me here. I led them to relegation, then stole Doriva, Adam Johnson and a few others from the Boro to fill out my Wolves team. Now they've snatched by all-star striker and Wolves Idol. Fans were furious with me for it. However I had to sell now because it was the best possible deal I was likely to get for Miller - 1m now, 1.9m over 24 months, 50% sell on clause... when he had a minimum fee release clause of £3.1m and only 1 more season left on his contract. I had tried re-negotiating with him throughout this season but the guy wanted three times more than I could afford. I hoped to get promoted to the premiership and have a bigger wage budget to play with. No luck, so Miller had to go. Ive put all this transfer money to some good use with my swoops in the transfer market; Joey Barton (DM) from Man City on a FREE. Stuart Parnaby (DR/WBR) from Middlesbrough on a FREE. Going to try and convert him into a MR. Nigel Martyn (almost 41 yrs old!!) on a free from Everton on a 2 year player-coach deal. Hes likely to retire from playing after this coming season. But he will be the oldest Wolves player when he starts the season for us. I signed him rather than Jerzy Dudek who also agreed terms with me because Martyn has a GK coaching rating of 20, and I figured that Wayne Hennesey is going to be my #1 soon, he just needs mentor. In comes Martyn! Alan Stubbs (DC) for 80k from Sunderland. The 35yr old comes in to plug the gap left by Jody Craddock. An experience head in defense might eradicate the mistakes of last season. I have a widely young squad. Chris Cornes (AM/STK) for £400k from . Sold by Wolves during the 05/06 season I'm bringing him back from the 07/08 season onwards to be the returning hero. A cheap replacement for Kenny Miller, I hope, he is still only 20yrs old. He joins fellow young strikers - Tom Craddock & Adam Johnson (who I signed both from Boro last year) Currently trying to sign Gaizka Mendieta from Boro for £400k also. Will add onto this topic some more info in half an hour but my dinners ready doh!!
  19. Hoorah guys, I've finally managed to get back into Football Manager. This whole settling into uni and writing/making movies has had me rather distracted. Bad news however - I decided I would start off managing my local team Middlesbrough. Well. Blow me, but I got relegated on the LAST day of the season. All the results went my way - but I couldn't get the draw I needed to stay up. As the first contract you have is only 1 year and I figured Gibson wasn't going to be happy (despite how cool he is), I decided to bite the bullet and fall on my sword. For the next season I jumped to fellow Championship side Wolves, taking over from Glenn Hoddle. Fantastic season so far. Were in the last playoff position about half way through the season. All positions from 2-9 are up for grabs right now changing on a weekly basis. Ironically, Middlesbrough under Rioch again are looking the likely champions as they have led the league all season. Sods. In going to Wolves I did manage to bring some of the 'Likely Lads' from the boro however. Doriva came in as my right hand, my veteran captain... and performed shit so he's fallen to third choice. Young Adam Johnson has performed ok as a 2nd choice midfielder/attacker. Kris Boyd who I signed for Middlesbrough for £1.5m and then brought to Wolves for £250k has been a revelation. Has around 11 goals and is looking like the player I first scouted! Signed a bunch of others which are keeping me going, but the core of my team is some great youth players. Wayne Hennessey, welsh goalie (19yrs old?) has become 1st choice and risen in value from £16k to £635k. Unfortunately I think I might have pushed him too soon as his return from an injury has been less than stellar - rating of 5, 6, 6, 7. If we drop out of the playoff positions I'm going to have to drop him Coolest "first time" incident so-far is that on the last day of last season at the Boro I praised Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez big time hoping it would boost his players confidence as I needed pool to win their game if I was to stay up. Well, we became great friends and at the start of the season at Wolves, Rafa sold me a player on the cheap "due to his great friendship with Chris Bell". Awesome~ I'm now in the process of building relationships with one team in each league in the hope of similar results. Hibs in Scotland, Sevilla in Spain, Nantes in france and Parma in Italy.
  20. BOllocks. I've just bought a Nintendo DS.. *bangs head off wall* I love nintendo and all... but really... bastards. Those are some blatantly obvious modifications too which they could have done on the ORIGINAL version before they released it. The mic in the center is like... DUH. So why didn't they? It was all a plan... bastards.
  21. horrors a nightmare to do and Sci-Fi is limited but drama and comedy is ok I'm I think in the middle 1970's on my first game. Racked in a fortune over the years and I'm keeping my original star from retiring by always attaching him to movies. So he's pretty darn old now and just co-starring. Haven't played for a while since by now the whole game is so busy with stuff that it stutters a little on my crap lap top. But I'll be going back. God invented the pause button for such games. Pause, move, do stuff, unpause. Watch stuff happen, pause again. lol. The Movies, by Turn Based Action~ Must check out this add on. I've never been able to upload to the website unfortunately. It won't let me go 'Online' in the game.
  22. DVD is coming out at the start of next month too. I'm off back to uni on sunday so I can't watch it on tele so I will buy it and add it to my Sharpe Collection. I've got almost all the books, the entire dvd collection also. Blessed is Bernard Cornwell, the Sharpe Creator who turned me back onto reading after I got tired of the same old plots in Robert Ludlums books.

    Penetance Query

Danke reflecto. I found out a few hours ago lol. And desired, it would be exciting, if it werent so bloody stressful!
  24. Hi I need to ask if anybody can tell me what the objects were called that people purchased from the Catholic Church in order to 'buy' repentance/penetance. Its one of the elements in the creation of Protestantism. The Catholic Church was heavily criticised for selling these objects... but damnit, I don't remember what they were called as a unit. People would commit a sin, and then buy an object from the monks who were hauking these sacred things... If anybody can help it would be the finishing touch of a script ive had in development since last october. And about time, since we shoot in three weeks!
