  1. I believe that's Mr. Gilmore's! RIP Richard Kiel
  2. So Multiversity was purified, super hero comics weirdo wizard Grant Morrison firing on all cylinders- if you are into that kind of thing.. I am. I cannot wait for issue two, which will have some purty Chris Sprouse art. The wait for Cameron Stewart on a Marvel family tale and Frank Quietly on the Charlton Comics-based issue will also be adverse for this Morrison fan.
  3. Anything with Frank Quitely is must read for me. Other artists that I can think of off the top of my head that get me jazzed would be: Chris Burnham, Declan Shlavey, John Romita Jr., Brandon Graham, Becky Cloonan, Jerome Opena, Greg Capullo, Steve Epting... Ehh I'll just stop there I could go on forever.
  4. Thanks for sharing (bumping) this. I was especially intrigued because I never really got through your top two favorite films. I saw most of these during an epic Miyazaki marathon TCM ran back in like 2006. Watching Spirited Away immediately followed by Princess Mononoke for the first time, on the first night of the marathon, was life changing. It was just something I randomly stumbled upon channel surfing at that. I think I had become visually overstimulated in the midst of it that and did not finish Kiki's or Porco Rosso. I was very sleep deprived in school that week. So like I said, thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to laying some fresh eyes on those and likely loving the hell out of them.
  5. Yeah, having multiple directors is totally understandable, but still dissapointing. I remember some super early rumors had William Friedkin directing season two which would have been badass.
  6. I am a huge Remender fan and I don't think anyone can touch his dialogue in hero books right now. Additionally, I don't think anyone takes better advantage of the rich tapestry of characters and wackiness in the Marvel U than Remender. He even made a loathed-by-many Fantomex into my favorite Marvel character (when he writes him anyways). As said, Uncanny X-Force and Uncanny Avengers have both been excellent reads. Even his Venom and Secret Avengers runs were fun. Hopefully AXIS is goodness too (who am I kidding it's gonna be a melodramatic blast). I'm also hella psyched for that Avengers GN he's doing with Jerome Opena. While on the Marvel tip- Hickman's Avengers are hitting his Fantastic Four run sweet spot for me where all the pieces are falling into place and humming along in perfect harmony. Especially New Avengers. If you dig Marvel and mind-bending sci-fi, you owe it to yourself to check those runs out.
  7. I still wish Bill Simmons' fantasy casting of Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer would actually come to fruition. That'd be amazing and unhinged. But season 2 should be quality regardless. I'm half way through Nick Pizzalatto's 'Galveston' right now and am enjoying it very much. It's helping with the TD withdrawl.
  8. I suggest you all check out Princess Mononoke if you have not. That one is my personal favorite anyways. And of course, Spirited Away is moving.
  9. I finally gave Broad City a chance and ended up polishing off the whole season in quick sucession. I also appreciated that you can see a little of Amy Poehler's infuence in the tone as a producer for the show. Her cameo in the finale was awesome.
  10. Yeah that article is getting alot of attention amongst fans of the show. I thought these two WSJ pieces about the literary influences of this show were also really interesting. http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2014/02/02/writer-nic-pizzolatto-on-thomas-ligotti-and-the-weird-secrets-of-true-detective/ http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2014/01/30/the-most-shocking-thing-about-hbos-true-detective/ As for tonight's episode...
  11. My mouth was open for that entire tracking shot, which I didn't realize was a tracking shot unitl about 5 minutes in. Excellent television.
  12. The third season has been like watching a completely different show, in the best way.
  13. It really is inexplicable how solid Long Halloween is in comparison to pretty much everything Loeb writes these days. Like shockingly so.
  14. Nice to see Kluwe make his points without using ad-lib, over-the-top obscenities for once.
