In response to the Red Sox statement from earlier this week. Obviously the Garden was Celtics/Bruins but it mentions Adam Jones from the Orioles at Fenway and Wilpon being in a rough white neighborhood in South Boston. But yeah, it’s the New York fans who are terrible...

A subset of Boston fans are famous for their racism. I mean they didn't exactly treat Bill Russell well and he's one of the all-time greats.

Every city has its jerks but for some reason when you hear stories about overtly racist fans they so often come from Boston. It's unfortunate for all the non-racists there but there are certainly factors that go into people ignoring it for long enough that Boston is known for it.

MLBPA rejected the league's final offer (72 games, 70% prorated pay which climbs to 80% prorated assuming they can actually do the postseason) and informed the league that they will not be making a counteroffer.  So the ball is now in MLB's court if they want to force a 48-game season.

MLBPA's hope is that calling Manfred's bluff will lead to the owners just caving and doing 72 games at full prorated pay.  By choosing to do a 48-game season, the league would be willingly sacrificing another full month's worth of TV revenue for every team.  And since this would come just as it was announced that MLB's won a new billion dollar TV contract from Turner, only the most ardent billionaire bootlickers could take the league's side at this point.

As it stands, I can't see a lengthy strike being avoided unless the owners make Manfred the sacrificial lamb and put a new commissioner in by next year to make it look like they're at least trying to negotiate in good faith.  Manfred has completely destroyed any goodwill he had with the MLBPA.

Your team cheated, @GhostMachine. Cheated.

*Ahem* 2004 - the ONLY team to ever come back from being down 0-3 in the ALCS and go to the World Series.......vs. the Yankees. Which also make the Yankees the only team to be up 3-0 and NOT go to the World Series. They weren't cheating then, sunshine.

Besides, everyone not a Yankees fan knows that the Yankees are MLB's heel team. And not even a cool Ric Flair type team that people still want to see win. They're motherfucking X-Pac, who everyone wants to see get beat, or just go away.

Oh do you really want to tap into the history of baseball to make an argument there, guy? Because the Red Sox will be on the short end of the stick there.

Or do you want to talk modern times where your team cheated to win a title? I’ll let you choose.

And what you don’t get, is Yankee fans don’t care that they’re the “heel” of MLB. Not one single fan. Unlike you Sox fans who chanted “Yankees suck!” While you cheated your way to a championship, because of a century long of insecurity.

Both sides are being entirely greedy and unreasonable.  I imagine a strike or a lockout is looming, and the sport is gonna destroy itself doing it.
