The Debut Show

Friday October 1, 2004

First Round Match

Delirious Vs Matt Sydal

-These two men brought their feud, all the way from St. Louis to Smash Mouth Wrestling. The match started off with Delirious playing with his opponent, acting crazy and the whatnot, until Sydal fired back with a vicious Knife Edged Chop. Delirious became serious and hit a Tornado DDT for a two count. The end of the bout saw Delirious try for something off the top rope, only to have Sydal crotch him, and then connect with the Moonsault Belly-to-Belly Suplex for the three count, advancing to the second round of the SMW Championship Tournament.

Winner: Matt Sydal

Jimmy Jacobs Vs Cassidy O'Reilly

-Jacobs came out, sans the furry boots, carrying an old school boom-box, which was blasting the song "Come On Eileen". O'Reilly was announced, and he came out, wearing a long green robe with a shamrock on the back, and matching green tights. O'Reilly dominated the match, using his size to his advantage against the much smaller Jacobs. O'Reilly hit a beautiful Brainbuster, but when he went for a Hurricanrana, Jacobs dropped to his knees, driving O'Reilly to the mat with a Powerbomb variation. O'Reilly tried for a Superkick, but Jacobs ducked under it, screamed, kicked him in the gut, and then connected with the Contra Code for the win.

Winner: Jimmy Jacobs

First Round Match

B-Boy Vs Homicide

-These two friends went at each other like the worst of enemies, exchanging strong-style blows and taking the cheater's way several times, with Homicide almost scoring the win with his feet on the ropes, and B-Boy almost scoring the pinfall after a low blow. B-Boy escaped out of a Kudoh Driver attempt, but couldn't lock Homicide in for the Cross-Special Brainbuster. With both men frustrated, the tide turned back to the strong-style approach, as B-Boy leveled Homicide with a Lariat. The Notorious 187 got back up and connected with a Lariat of his own, but B-Boy didn't stay down, and nailed 'Cide with another Lariat, which was answered with another explosive Lariat from Homicide, who then ducked under a Lariat from B-Boy, turned, and absolutely decapitated B-Boy with a third, and final, Lariat. Homicide covered, and scored the three count.

Winner: Homicide

-CM Punk came out to the ring with a microphone in hand, and berated Chris Hero. Punk talked about all the times that he's defeated Hero before, and said that he's going to do it again on the 15th. Chris Hero came out with a mic of his own, and ran down the times that he's beaten Punk, and then laid claim to the match on the 15th, even going as far as to say that he's going to win the SMW Heavyweight Title.

Fatal Four Way Match

Dan Maff Vs Chris Hero Vs CM Punk Vs John Walters

-All four men put a lot of effort into this match. Punk and Hero did most of the fighting in the bout, as even when they weren't legal in the ring, the two of them would be fighting on the outside. Maff caught both men off guard with a Suicide Dive through the ropes, which got a huge reaction from the fans. Hero tried to score the win over Walters, but the Boston native wouldn't allow it. Walters even reversed out of a Hero's Welcome attempt, right into a Lungblower for a two count, but Punk broke it up. Punk took Hero outside of the ring, and the two men battled into the crowd, leaving Maff and Walters alone in the ring. Walters set up for the Hurricane DDT, but Maff blocked it, hit a few shots to the gut, and then pulled Walters up onto his back, and then drove him into the mat with the Burning Hammer for the win.

Winner: Dan Maff

First Round Match

Austin Aries Vs Danny Daniels

-The fans didn't know who to cheer for here, and when it became apparent that Aries was the heel, the only reactions from the fans were the "Gen-Next" chants from a couple of rows. Daniels connected with teh Rubix Cube on Aries, but to his dismay, Aries managed to kick out, though just barely. Daniels set up for a Piledriver, but Aries rolled into him, putting him in a pinning predicament for a two count. Daniels charged, but Aries side-stepped him, and then caught him with the Macho Neck Snap over the top rope, which lead to the very crisply executed 450 Splash from Austin Aries, and the pinfall victory.

Winner: Austin Aries

-AJ Styles came down to the ring, thanked the fans for having him here, and then quickly stated that on October 22, he will face Christopher Daniels, the toughest opponent he has ever faced in his career. Styles then switched gears, putting over Jay Lethal, and then running down Petey Williams, who Styles said was "a great competitor with the friends who place a bullseye on him" and Matt Stryker, who he called a "piece of crap" for turning his back on the fans.

69%

Matt Stryker and Petey Williams Vs AJ Styles and Jay Lethal

-The match started off with Styles in control of his opponents, until Stryker hit him with a Drop Toe Hold, and then held him to the mat as Williams leapt over the top rope with a Slingshot Legdrop to the back of AJ's head. Williams took control, and worked over AJ's left arm, setting him up for a Fujiwara Armbar, but Styles fought out of it, and hit the Backflip Soccer Kick, knocking Petey to the mat. AJ crawled to his corner, as did Petey. Stryker came in first, and grabbed Styles, but AJ connected with the Quebrada Inverted DDT when Stryker whipped him into the ropes. Lethal rallied the fans, and AJ made the tag. Lethal came in and cleaned house, taking out both Stryker and Petey Williams. Lethal set Stryker up for the Lethal Injection, but Williams caught him with a Leg Lariat, and then nailed him with the Canadian Destroyer, but AJ came flying off the top rope with a Forearm shot to knock Williams out of the ring. Stryker grabbed AJ, but received a huge Lariat, followed by the Styles Clash. AJ pulled Lethal on top of Stryker, and then hit a running Swandive Splash over the top rope onto Williams, as the referee counted three.

Winners: AJ Styles and Jay Lethal

First Round Match

Main Event

Bryan Danielson Vs Samoa Joe

-These two men put on one hell of a match, with each man receiving a bloodied nose thanks to the stiff striking of their opponent. Danielson worked over Joe's right arm, hoping that Joe wouldn't be able to apply the Triangle Choke if he weakened the arm. Joe beat Danielson into the corner, but the American Dragon fought his way out of the corner, and then applied a Cross Armbreaker, but Joe got out of the hold by punching him straight in the nose. Danielson recuperated outside the ring, which turned out to be a mistake, as Joe caught him with a running forearm, and then pinned him against the barricade, and jogged about fifteen feet away. Joe turned, and the crowd started an "Ole, Ole, Ole" chant, as Joe charged and drove his boot right into Danielson's face. Joe rolled Dragon back into the ring and covered, but Danielson kicked out at two. Joe then set Danielson up in the corner, and tried for the Ole Kick again, but Danielson moved out of the way, and then put the boots to Joe's knee. Joe grabbed Danielson, and applied the Triangle Choke. Danielson wavered, but then used all of his strength to ram Joe into the turnbuckle, and then exploded with a release Northern Lights Suplex. Both men were absolutely spent, and Danielson was the last man up. Joe charged, but Danielson rolled him up in a School Boy for a two count. Joe got up and swung wildly, but Danielson ducked it and applied a Backslide for another two count. Danielson tried to lock in the Cattle Mutilation, but Joe fought it off, only to get caught with a German Suplex roll-up for the surprise three count.

Winner: Bryan Danielson

-Danielson grabbed some water, had a drink, and then grabbed the microphone. He told Joe that he has nothing but respect for him, and then asked him to come back and shake his hand, but instead of Joe, Danielson got Austin Aries. Aries came out, grabbed the mic from Danielson, and told him that they had unfinished business. Aries said that since there are no official brackets for the tournament, that he was challenging Danielson to face him in the second round of the SMW Title tournament, on October 30. Danielson grabbed the mic back, and accepted the challenge, but was attacked by Aries, who took advantage of Danielson's weakened condition. Aries took him down to the mat and applied the Rings of Saturn, making him scream in pain. The fans erupted as Samoa Joe made his way back out. Joe, who was walking, screamed at Aries that he'd better leave. Aries stood and slid out of the ring, as Joe slid back into it. Joe helped Danielson back up, and the two men had a staredown...Joe then shook his hand, but the moment was ruined as Aries came back into the ring with a steel chair, and leveled Joe with it. Danielson tried to take it away from him, but Aries cracked him over the head with it, and then held the chair high before leaving.

Smash Mouth Wrestling Live

Danielson/Joe Vs Aries/Stryker

Friday October 8, 2004

First Round Match

Arik Cannon Vs Super Dragon

-Both men had recently wrestled each other in the Ted Petty Invitational Tournament, held by IWA Mid South, and Cannon came out on top in that bout. This match saw action that was similar to their bout at the TPI, but this time around, Dragon came out on top. The end of the bout saw Dragon avoid a Glimmering Warlock, and then connect with the Curb Stomp, driving Cannon's head into the bottom turnbuckle. Dragon then pulled Cannon up and hit the Psycho Driver for the win.

Winner: Super Dragon

-Trent Acid made his way out to the ring for his match, stopping along the way to allow women to stuff bills into his pants. Acid grabbed a mic and asked for the tunes of the Backstreet Boys to by cut off, as he counted the cash from his pants. Trent then went on to tell the fans that the women give him money for giving them someone to think about when they're fucking their "normal boys". Acid then called his opponent, BJ Whitmer, Jesus. Acid spoke about the resemblance between the two, and told the fans that "it's a good thing I'm not religious, or I'd feel bad about kicking Jesus' ass."

BJ Whitmer came out to interrupt Acid, and grabbed the mic from him. Whitmer got into his face, said "Aren't you going to be embarrassed when Jesus kicks your ass?" and then shoved Acid.

70%

First Round Match

BJ Whitmer Vs Trent Acid

-Whitmer turned his back to put the microphone away, but was attacked from behind by Trent Acid. Acid went to work on Whitmer, but couldn't keep the advantage, as Whitmer reversed a Lariat attempt into a Half-Nelson Suplex, dropping Acid right onto his head. Both men exchanged Knife Edged Chops before Acid missed a Yakuza Kick, and Whitmer followed up with one of his own, but couldn't pick up the three count on it. Whitmer pulled Acid up for what was probably the Exploder '98, but Acid rolled him up for a close two count. Acid sprung up to his feet, hit the ropes and came off with the Yakuza Kick, but couldn't cover right away, and only got a two count. Acid set up for another Yakuza Kick, but Whitmer caught his leg and turned it into a sickening Capture Suplex, leading to the pinfall and the three count.

Winner: BJ Whitmer

51 / 75 / 63%

Cassidy O'Reilly Vs Ace Steel

-O'Reilly returned to SMW after an impressive showing at the Debut Show against Jimmy Jacobs. O'Reilly came out, this time to the song "Five O'Clock" by the Mudmen, and drinking a pint of beer, saluting the fans on his way to the ring, but stopping to threaten one who touched his shiny green robe. Ace Steel came running out slapping hands with the fans on his way to the ring, and just playing an overall good guy. Steel took O'Reilly down with a Side Headlock, and then played to the fans, but O'Reilly rolled into a pinning predicament. Steel kicked out at two, but when he got back up, he ran right into a High Knee from O'Reilly, ala Harley Race. O'Reilly kept up on the attack, taking Steel down with a running Hurricanrana. O'Reilly went up top and came off with a Flying Crossbody, but Steel rolled through, pulled him up, and then planted him with a modified Michinoku Driver II for a near-fall. O'Reilly tried for a low blow, but Steel squeezed his legs together to block it. Steel then pulled O'Reilly up by his hair and cracked him in the head with a huge Headbutt. O'Reilly blocked a second attempt, and then connected with a boot to the gut. O'Reilly set up for a Powerbomb or a similar move, but Steel blocked it, pulled him up onto his shoulder, and then drove him into the mat with a Backdrop Driver for the three count.

Winner: Ace Steel

40 / 80 / 60%

-Jay Lethal and Roderick Strong were both in the ring and ready to go, but before the bell rang, Matt Stryker made his way out to the ring. Stryker grabbed a mic, and started talking about his upcoming matches; his tournament match against Jimmy Jacobs next week; his match against Jay Lethal on 10/22; and his scheduled bout against AJ Styles on 11/5. Stryker acted like he was cool, and did the "Gunshot/Wink" at a female fan at ringside. Stryker then told Lethal that he wished him luck, because he didn't want Strong to kill him before he got his chance. While he was saying that, Stryker was trying to get "buddy-buddy" with Strong, who shot him a glance, as if to say "Who the hell do you think you are?" Styrker backed off, and eventually left, allowing the match to get under way.

First Round Match

Jay Lethal Vs Roderick Strong

-Lethal started the match off strong (no pun intended). Lethal tried for a series of roll-ups, but Strong continually kicked out. Strong got sick of Lethal avoiding him, and caught him with a Powerslam off of a Crossbody attempt. Roderick then held onto the advantage, connecting with a series of Backbreakers, until Lethal started firing back with rights and lefts. Lethal dropped Strong with a Roaring Elbow, but Roderick took it in and retaliated with one of his own, followed by a Powerbomb lift into a Canadian Backbreaker. Strong covered for a three count, and the win.

Winner: Roderick Strong

28 / 73 / 50%

Six Man Tag Match

AJ Styles, John Walters and Jerry Lynn Vs CM Punk, Nigel McGuinness and Delirious

-The debuting Jerry Lynn got a huge reception from the fans. The team of Lynn, Styles and Walters made quick tags in and out to keep their opponents, specifically McGuinness and Delirious, separated from their corner. McGuinness had a good five minute exchange with Walters, which led into another exchange with Jerry Lynn. Lynn hit the Cradle Piledriver on Nigel, but a very frustrated CM Punk came in to break it up. Punk slapped McGuinness, and pushed him outside of the ring, but as he was doing this, John Walters rolled him up from behind with a three count.

Winners: Styles, Walters and Lynn

-After the match, as the faces were on their way to the back, CM Punk grabbed a microphone and complained about his team. Punk even went as far as to tell his partners that they didn't deserve to team with him. Punk then called back Lynn, and shoved him, telling him that he could beat him any time that he wanted to...AJ Styles came back into the ring to separate the two men, but Punk slapped him. Styles was about to swing at Punk, when John Walters ran into the ring and stepped between them. Walters told Punk that if it was a fight he wanted, all he had to do was ask, and that he'd be glad to pin him again. Punk poked Walters hard on the shoulder, and told him that his agent would be in contact with him.

First Round Match

Low Ki Vs Dan Maff

-The two men went nose-to-nose as the bell rang. Both men trained at the now infamous Doghouse, and they even shook hands before the brutality began. Each man ended up busted open early on, Maff from a kick, and Ki from a brutal Elbow shot. Both men exchanged explosive blows throughout the match, but nobody expected the outcome, as Dan Maff kicked out of a Ki Krusher '99. Ki's intensity grew as he realized that Maff had kicked out. Low Ki then tried to lock in the Dragon Clutch, but Maff continued to fight it off, until eventually, he connected with a Death Valley Driver, followed by a Ki Krusher of his own for the three count.

Winner: Dan Maff

Main Event

Tag Team Grudge Match

Bryan Danielson and Samoa Joe Vs Austin Aries and Matt Stryker

-The main event began with Stryker and Danielson chain wrestling. Stryker then tagged out to Aries, and Aries went tow rok on Danielson, who reversed the pressure on a Figure Four Leglock, and then tagged in Samoa Joe. Thelargest of the four men came in and went to work on Aries, absolutely destroying Aries with clubbing blows. Aries, on the defensive, connected with a Macho Neck Snap, guilloting Joe's neck over the top rope as he made the tag to Matt Stryker. Stryker came in and went to work on Joe's knee, setting him up for, but never being able to apply the Stryker Lock. Joe set up for an Island Driver, but couldn't keep Stryker up for it, and eventually, Stryker rolled him up for a two count, but Danielson tagged himself in, and took Stryker to the mat, going back to the chain wrestling before Danielson came out on top, grabbed Stryker's arms, and flipped over, applying the Cattle Mutilation for the tap out victory.

Winners: Danielson and Joe

-After the match, Aries yelled "I'll see you on the twenty-ninth", before heading to the back and leaving Stryker alone in the ring.

Dan Maff Vs Brock Singleton

-Singleton came out wearing head-gear and a university letter-jacket. Maff came out, and Singleton wanted to wrestle, but Maff absolutely destroyed him, driving him into the corner and beating him senseless with rights and lefts. Brock fell to the mat, and Maff connected with the running flip Avalanche into the corner. Maff pulled Singleton out, and then set up for the Burning Hammer, but Brock slipped off of his back, and brought him up, connecting with the F-Five, of all things. However, as Brock got up celebrating, Maff stood and waited, and then pounced, clobbering Singleton with a vicious Clothesline From Compton! Maff then covered and scored the three count, showing no signs of wear.

Winner: Dan Maff

First Round Match

Chris Sabin Vs Petey Williams

-The two former TNA X Division Champions showed up ready to fight, as Sabin took the battle to Williams right away. The fans were split on who to cheer for, as Petey was without the usual entourage of the devious Scott D'Amore. "Heil Sabin!" chants started up, but were drowned out by chants of "Destroyer" as Williams set up for the move, only to have the fans erupt in boo's when Sabin blocked it. Sabin hit a Springboard Missile Dropkick, but couldn't make the pinfall, as Williams rolled out of the ring. Sabin then got the fans riled up, and leapt to the top rope, and then jumped off and onto Petey. Sabin rolled Williams back into the ring, and went up top, but Williams blocked whatever Sabin was attempting, and connected with a Superplex for a two count. Sabin seemed to injure his arm on the landing, and Williams took notice, working it over with different submission techniques. Sabin tried to hit the Future Shock, but Petey blocked it, and then tried for a Fujiwara Armbar, but Sabin rolled, coming out on top with a pinning predicament, and picking up the surprise three count over Petey Williams.

Winner: Chris Sabin

Super Dragon and Frankie Kazarian Vs Chance Beckett and Josh Daniels

-Dragon and Kazarian came out to Joe Esposito's "You're The Best Around", while Beckett and Daniels waited in the ring. The two men came out giving each other high-fives all the way to the ring. That is, until Beckett dove over the top rope, taking out them both. Chance tossed Kazarian into the ring, and Daniels went to work, showing why he is called the Northeast's answer to the Dynamite Kid. Daniels connected with a series of beautiful Snap Suplexes before tagging out to Beckett, who dove off the top rope with a huge Flying Elbowdrop onto Kazarian, but Dragon broke up the pin, and then tagged Kazarian out. Super Dragon then went to work on Beckett, but Chance fought back. Beckett connected with a Northern Lights Suplex for a two count, but Dragon slapped him hard, dropping him to the mat, and then connected with the Curb Stomp. Super D tagged Frankie back in, and Kazarian came in with a vengeance, slapping and berating Beckett, and then Daniels, who tagged in. Kazarian connected with the Wave of the Future on Daniels, and then tagged in Super Dragon, who hit the Supernatural Driver on Daniels. Dragon covered, but pulled up at two, and set Daniels up on the top rope, tagged Kazarian in, and watched as Frankie planted Daniels with the Flux Capacitor. Kazarian then tagged Dragon back in, and Super D went up top. Frankie sat Daniels up, allowing Dragon to come down hard on his neck and shoulders with a Double Foot Stomp! Beckett had seen enough, and ran in to help his partner, but Dragon took him out with a Lariat, and then tossed him to Kazarian, who planted him with the Wave of the Future. Dragon and Frankie then each put one foot on an opponent, Dragon on Daniels, and Kazarian on Beckett, and they picked up the three count in stereo.

Winners: Dragon and Kazarian

First Round Match

Matt Stryker Vs Jimmy Jacobs

-Matt Stryker came out to the ring to chants of "Unibrow", but he just yelled "FEAR THE BROW!" The fans reacted well for Jimmy Jacobs, who came out with a new haircut, looking like John Cusack's hair, and passing out mixed tapes, an obvious homage to Cusack's movie High Fidelity (7/10, by the way). A few fans chanted "HUSS!" but Jacobs ignored them. Jacobs started off strongly, seeming to have picked up a more serious style of wrestling...but he fell back into old habits, as he tried for the Berserker Boot, only to have Stryker catch it, and apply the Stryker Lock. Jacobs fought his way to the ropes, but Stryker kept on the leg, obviously trying to injure it. Stryker looked like he was going for a Backbreaker, but positioned Jacobs more so that his hurt leg came down hard across his knee. Jacobs fought back, and almost hit the Contra Code, but he couldn't push off the turnbuckle with his leg, and ended up receiving a Back Suplex, which positioned them in the middle of the ring, and allowed Stryker to apply the Stryker Lock one final time, forcing Jacobs to submit.

Winner: Matt Stryker

-AJ Styles made his way out to the entrance way as Stryker celebrated. Styles had a mic, and basically just told Stryker that he better start getting ready, because when they meet on November 5th, it will be in the Title tournament, and it will be Stryker's last match of the tournament. Stryker left with a look of worry on his face, but it disappeared as he yelled at a fan for making fun of his unibrow.

Austin Aries and Trent Acid Vs John Walters and Jerry Lynn

-The match started off with Acid and Walters exchanging holds, until both men made tags, and their two partners came in and ended up in stalemate. Lynn hit an Arm Drag, but Aries got back up and connected with one of his own. Lynn got up, and the crowd cheered as they stopped. Lynn offered his hand, but Aries slapped him, right in the mouth. Lynn charged and took Aries down, pounding on him with right and left hands, before tagging out to John Walters, who came in and ended up on the wrong end of a Spinning Fisherman's Suplex. Aries tagged out to Acid, who then put the boots to Walters, and set him up for the Acid Bomb, but Lynn made the blind tag. Acid connected with the move, but when he went for the cover, the referee wouldn't count. Acid got angry, but turned around and was brought up onto Lynn's shoulders, and the veteran took Acid out with the TKO, but Aries tagged himself in and took Lynn out with a Spinning Heel Kick. Aries followed up by going out onto the apron, and then using the top rope as a slingshot, propelling himself back into the ring with a Twisting Splash onto Lynn for a two count. Aries tagged out to Acid. Lynn tried for the Cradle Piledriver, but Acid blocked it and hit a Yakuza Kick. Lynn kicked out at two, pissing Acid off enough to cause him to just boot Lynn in the mouth, and then tag in Aries, who climbed up top, and connected with a beautiful 450 Splash for the pinfall victory of Jerry Lynn.

Winners: Aries and Acid

51 / 82 / 66%

**1/4

-After the match, Aries and Acid celebrated, but Jerry Lynn picked up a mic as they were leaving, and announced to the crowd that despite his loss in the tag match, he was still going to honor his prior commitment, and that it was he who was contacted to take the spot of Rocky Romero in the SMW Title Tournament. The fans erupted for the announcement, but Austin Aries didn't like it, as he came back into the ring and told Lynn that he didn't deserve it. Aries slapped Lynn for a second time, but this time, Jerry merely responded by telling Aries that when he wins the title, he'll give him the first shot at it.

First Round Match

Jay Briscoe Vs Jerry Lynn

-Briscoe came out and shook Lynn's hand, wishing him luck after having already competed. Jay started the match out on the offensive, taking advantage of the wear and tear suffered by Jerry Lynn during the tag team bout. Lynn battled back, and hit his patented Legdrop over the middle rope, driving Briscoe's throat into it, and taking the air right out of him. Both men tried for their signature moves, but both men also were able to counter them. Lynn hit a Sunset Flip for a two count, but Jay rolled out of it, and then pinned Lynn for a two count. Jay didn't let go of his legs though, and pulled him up, and then drove him back down into the mat with a Powerbomb for another two count. Briscoe tried for a Springboard Dropkick, but Lynn moved out of the way, and then applied an Oklahoma Roll after Jay crashed to the mat, picking up the three count, and moving on in the tournament.

Winner: Jerry Lynn

-Lynn and Briscoe shook hands after their match, and as they walked to the back, "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson stopped Lynn, and asked him to be his partner next week against Austin Aries, to which Lynn responded with a very quick "Hell Yeah".

Fatal Four Way Match

Bryan Danielson Vs AJ Styles Vs Jay Lethal Vs Arik Cannon

-Danielson and Lethal started the match, exchanging holds until Lethal found himself on the advantage, connecting with a vicious looking DDT. Lethal then set up for a Tornado DDT, but Cannon tagged himself in and went to work on Dragon's neck. Cannon set up for the Glimmering Warlock, but Danielson blocked it, and then hit a release Dragon Suplex out of desperation. Danielson then crawled over and tagged in Lethal, but Cannon made the tag to Styles, and the two men met in the middle of the ring with an exchange of forearms, which went back and forth until Lethal blocked one, and whipped AJ into the ropes, which allowed Styles to hit his Quebrada Inverted DDT for a two count. Lethal rolled AJ up with a Small Package, but couldn't get the three count. Styles almost hit the Styles Clash on Lethal, but he crawled out of it and tagged in Danielson, who came in and went to work on AJ's shoulders. Dragon tried to take AJ to the mat for the Cattle Mutilation, but Styles blocked it and caught him with his backflip soccer kick. Arik Cannon tagged himself in and went to work on Styles, isolating him from both corners, but Styles reversed a Suplex attempt, and then tried for the Clash, but Cannon blocked it. Styles then set up for a Lariat, but Cannon ducked under it, and then connected with the Glimmering Warlock! Cannon then covered, and picked up the three count for the win.

Winner: Arik Cannon

First Round Match

Chris Hero Vs CM Punk

-With Hero already in the ring, AFI's "Miseria Cantare" started up on the PA, and CM Punk slowly made his way out to the ring. Punk jaw-jacked with some fans, but ultimately kept his focus on the task at hand, as he has had plenty of experience in the ring with Chris Hero, coming out on the winning end, and losing end, of their wars. The two men exchanged Arm Drags, and then moved into some chain wrestling before settling down with a slower paced Strong Style match-up. Punk was busted open around the five minute mark, when Hero caught him with a stiff shot to the face with his knee. Punk's nose bled profusely, but it just fired him up, as he caught Hero with a huge Roaring Elbow. Punk then pulled him up and set up for a Suplex, but instead, dropped him across the top rope, injuring Hero's ribs and abdomen. Punk applied an Abdominal Stretch. Hero struggled to reach the ropes, but couldn't, and Punk let go of the hold. Punk put the boots to Hero's ribs, and then connected with an Inverted Suplex. Hero fought back, and set up for the Rubix Cube, but Punk grabbed onto the top rope to block the move, and then drove his foot into Hero's abdomen to force him to release the hold. CM Punk then pulled Hero up to the top rope with him, and after a lengthy struggle, managed to land the Pepsi Plunge! Punk covered slowly, holding onto his left knee, and picked up the win. The mat was covered with the blood from Punk's nose, which was still bleeding.

Three Way Dance

Jay Briscoe Vs Matt Sydal Vs Cassidy O'Reilly

-The night opened up with the promotion's first Three Way Dance. Briscoe came out with a sign that said "Briscoes For Tag Champs", which was later torn to pieces by the arrogant and snobby Cassidy O'Reilly, who was introduced as "Wily" Cassidy O'Reilly. Sydal was the weak-link in the match, as he was the man that seemed to be targeted the most, but he and Briscoe double teamed on O'Reilly after "Wily" began to choke Sydal with his green robe. Sydal almost scored the pinfall on O'Reilly with a Quebrada, but Briscoe caught him with the Jay-Driller and put him away for the three count.

Winner: Jay Briscoe

First Round Match

Chad Collyer Vs John Walters

-Both men put on a good display of technical prowess, but only one could come out on top. The fans got behind Walters as large chants of "Collyer Sucks" rose from the audience. Collyer went to apply the Texas Cloverleaf, but stopped when the fans let out a groaning boo. The distraction gave enough time for Walters to roll Collyer up in a Small Package and pick up the victory, advancing in the Title Tournament.

Winner: John Walters

-Austin Aries came out to the ring and announced that he had picked the best, and coolest partner that he could find. Aries said that "The Two" of them would take out Danielson, before he even gets to their match next week. Aries then introduced his tag team partner as "The Coolest Man On The Face Of This Earth.... FRANKIE KAZARIAN!"

Tag Team Grudge Match

Bryan Danielson and Jerry Lynn Vs Austin Aries and Frankie Kazarian

-Aries and Kazarian worked over Danielson to being the match, making quick tags in and out to keep Danielson isolated in their corner. Frankie worked over the right arm of the Dragon, applying a variation of the Crossface to wrench back on the shoulder. Danielson managed to tag in Lynn, and the veteran showed Kazarian a thing or two about isolation, as he took him into a neutral corner and stomped the snot out of him, before hitting a Tornado DDT for a two count. Lynn set up for the Cradle Piledriver, but Aries stopped it. Kazarian then caught Lynn with the Wave of the Future out of nowhere, but couldn't make the cover, and had to tag out. Aries lined up, and went for a running move of some sort, but Lynn caught him in a Tilt-A-Whirl, positioned himself, and dropped to the mat with a devastating Tombstone Piledriver. Lynn tagged in Danielson, and Aries tagged Kazarian back in. The two men exchanged a fast paced series of Arm Drags, Chops and Body Slams, but Danielson blocked the Wave, and hit a Dragon Suplex for a two count, but holding on to the arms, and then moving right into the Cattle Mutilation, forcing the tap out for the submission win.

Winners: Danielson and Lynn

-After the match, Jerry Lynn got on the mic and told Aries that his days were numbered, because next week, Bryan Danielson WILL defeat him. As the faces were about to leave, they were attacked from behind by a man wearing all black, including a black ski mask to hide his identity. The man beat Lynn into a corner as Kazarian and Aries slid back into the ring and double-teamed on Danielson. Kazarian placed a chair on top of Danielson's face, as Austin Aries went up top, and then dove off the top rope with a Flying Elbowdrop, directly onto the chair! As the chair slid off of Danielson's face, you could see the blood gushing from a cut just above his nose and between his eyes. Lynn began to fight back, but the numbers caught up, as the man in black leveled him with a steel chair shot. Aries grabbed a mic, and said "Now that we've taken care of them...it's time for my huge announcement...and you're looking at it. We are the elite of pro wrestling. We are the best in SMW. We are, The Four."

First Round Match

Jimmy Rave Vs Nigel McGuinness

-Nigel McGuinness came out playing the heel, but the crowd quickly turned on Jimmy Rave, who continually used moves associated with AJ Styles, including the Springboard Forearm, and eventually even the Styles Clash, which Rave used to put Nigel away for the victory. Throughout the match, chants of "We Want Crumpets" started up, but died down every time Rave did something mocking AJ Styles.

Winner: Jimmy Rave

Singles Grudge Match

Matt Stryker Vs Jay Lethal

-On his way out, Stryker acknowledged Jimmy Rave, who also seems to have a beef with AJ Styles. Lethal controlled most of this match, as Stryker came in under-estimating his opponent. Lethal connected with a Double Arm DDT into a Front Chancery to almost pick up the win, but Stryker managed to get his foot on the bottom rope. Stryker exploded back at Lethal, and almost hit the Stryker Driver, but Jay reversed it into a Crucifix Pin for a two count. Stryker then tried for the Stryker Lock, but Lethal also reversed that into a pin for a two count. Stryker was getting upset, and it showed, as Lethal managed to gain the upper hand again, and even connect with the Lethal Injection, but Stryker kicked out at two. Lethal set up for his finisher for a second time, but Stryker blocked it, pulled him in and hit a variation of the Stryker Driver, sending Lethal head first into the middle turnbuckle. Stryker then pulled him into the middle of the ring and covered for the three count, gaining some momentum with a win heading into his bout with AJ Styles.

Winner: Matt Stryker

First Round Match

Alex Shelley Vs Colt Cabana

-Shelley started the match with some chain wrestling, working over the right arm and leg of Cabana as he did so. Shelley had Colt on the mat, and then took advantage by stomping on the back of his knee. Cabana got the upper hand with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex, but then decided to be funny instead of keeping on the attack, which ultimately cost him the match, as Shelley applied the Border City Stretch for the submission win, just after Colt let him out of a Colt .45 attempt in order to dance a little for the fans.

Winner: Alex Shelley

Six Man Tag Team Match

Dan Maff, Chris Hero and Chris Sabin Vs Homicide, Low Ki and Ricky Reyes

-The match started off with Maff and Reyes exchanging blows. Maff got the better of Reyes, who then tagged out to Low Ki, who came in with a vengeance after his loss to Maff in the first round of the SMW Title Tournament. Low Ki hit the Tidal Wave, but that just sent Maff into his corner, where Hero tagged in and went into a Collar and Elbow tie-up with Ki. Hero took Low Ki to the mat and applied a Fujiwara Armbar, but Ki fought his way out of it and made the tag to Homicide, who went Strong Style with Hero, busting his lip open with a running boot to the face. Hero tagged out to Sabin, who went after Homicide, but ended up on the receiving end of a Gory Bomb. Homicide tried for a Lariat, but Sabin ducked under it, and then dropped him with a Superkick to the jaw. Sabin tried for the Future Shock, but was attacked by Low Ki, who knocked him out with a brutal kick to the temple. Maff and Hero came in, as did Reyes. With all six men in the ring, the action became fierce as everyone and their mother connected with Lariats. The end of the bout saw Sabin rolled to the outside, Maff get taken out with the Poetic Tope on the outside, and Hero fall victim to a Ki Krusher, followed by a Diving Kneedrop from Reyes for the win.

Winners: Homicide, Low Ki and Reyes

-As AJ Styles waited in the ring for his opponent, he was surprised by the appearance of Matt Stryker. Stryker told AJ that when he steps into the ring with him, he's going to make him tap out, whether or not the match is a second round bout. As Stryker was rambling on, he was interrupted by Jimmy Rave, who stole his mic, and told Styles that if he manages to get past Daniels and Stryker...that he'll be waiting for him in the Quarter-Finals, because they have "unfinished business".

First Round Match

AJ Styles Vs Christopher Daniels

-Both men started the match slowly, feeling each other out. Neither man wanted to make a mistake, as the belief coming into the bout was that the person who made the first mistake would eventually end up losing the match, because both men are so crisp in the ring. Styles made the first mistake, as he tried to early for the Clash, and Daniels took advantage, rolling him up for a two count, and then connecting with a Suplex, followed by another two count. The Fallen Angel took it to Styles, who didn't get the time to recover, as Daniels was all over him. Daniels hit the Fall From Grace, but only got a two on the pin attempt. Styles battled back, and went for the Quebrada Inverted DDT, but Daniels saw it coming, and reversed it into a modified Last Rites. The Fallen Angel covered, but AJ somehow managed to kick out again at two. Daniels set up for the Angels Wings, but AJ countered it, and tried for the Clash again, but Daniels countered that into a Back Body Drop. Daniels hit the ropes and tried for a Lariat, but AJ ducked under it, turned, and leveled The Fallen Angel with a Lariat of his own, folding him up as he hit the mat. Styles covered, but Daniels kicked out at two. AJ set up for the Last Rites, but Daniels blocked it and tried for the Clash, but AJ blocked that, sent Daniels to the mat by grabbing his legs from under him, and then pulled him back up, still holding his legs, and then finally delivered the Styles Clash! AJ rolled into the cover, and the match was over as the ref's hand hit the mat three times.

News and Notes

-It's finally here. This weekend will see the long-awaited return bout between Bryan Danielson and Austin Aries. Last week, Aries dropped a bombshell on Danielson when he announced the formation of a group he called "The Four", with Frankie Kazarian and a masked man. After what the three men did to Danielson and his partner Jerry Lynn, you can bet that the American Dragon will be out for more than just the win as the second round of the SMW Championship Tournament begins.

-The other three tournament matches this weekend will see Dan Maff take on Homicide... John Walters go one on one with Jimmy Rave... and CM Punk re-visit another old rivalry as he collides with BJ Whitmer!

-Stemming from his pinfall loss on 10/22, Chris Hero made the challenge to Ricky Reyes for a singles bout, and the match was signed for 11/5, but with a week before that match takes place, Hero and Reyes will find themselves on opposite sides of a six man tag match, once again. This time, Hero's partners will be Jimmy Jacobs and Jay Briscoe. Reyes and Low Ki will join forces again, this time however, Homicide will not be present in the match, and his spot has been filled by "The Canadian Destroyer" Petey Williams.

-Joey Ryan will be making his SMW debut this weekend, as he takes part in what is sure to be another awesome Fatal Four Way match-up, as he takes on "Anarchist" Arik Cannon, Nigel McGuiness and Trent Acid.

Singles Grudge Match

Frankie Kazarian Vs Chance Beckett

-The show started off with a grudge match, bringing Chance Beckett back to SMW to face Frankie Kazarian, who defeated him in a tag team match just weeks prior. Kazarian started on the offensive, wearing a headband with "Cool" written on it in messy jiffy marker writing. Beckett blocked an attempted Suplex, and turned it into a Falcon Arrow for a two count. Beckett tried to end it there, but Kazarian caught him with a low blow, and then hit a DDT to give himself some time to recover. Frankie kipped up, but was shocked to see Beckett right in front of him, with his fist pulled back. Kazarian fell back onto his ass, and the fans laughed at him. Beckett riled the crowd, but turning his back on Frankie was not a good idea, as Kazarian snuck up behind him and sent him over his head with a release German Suplex. Kazarian then went for the Wave of the Future, but Beckett blocked it. Chance then elbowed Frankie in the head, but Kazarian got angry, and busted out a kick ass move, driving Beckett's head into his knee with an STO variation for the win.

Second Round Match

Dan Maff Vs Homicide

-Maff defeated Homicide's student Low Ki in the first round to earn his way into the second, but this test would prove to be just as hard, if not moreso, than his first round match. Homicide took it hard to Maff, who gave it back two-fold, and even sent Homicide out of the ring early on. The Notorious 187 regrouped on the outside, and changed his gameplan, going after the knees of Maff. The Assassin took a lot of damage to his knees, but battled back and connected with the Clothesline From Compton! Homicide barely kicked out at two, and the fight continued, going to the outside of the ring, where Maff hit the running senton attack with 'Cide placed in the corner of the guardrail. Maff tried for the Burning Hammer in the ring, but Homicide got out of it, and tried for the Kudoh Driver (Cop Killa), but Maff flipped out of it, holding onto Homicide's arms still, and pulled him up onto his back, and then drove him into the mat with a Kudoh Driver of his own! Maff made the cover, and defeated Homicide the same way he defeated Low Ki in the first round - with his own move.

Tag Team Grudge Match

Matt Stryker and Alex Shelley Vs Chris Sabin and Matt Sydal

-Shelley and Sabin started the match out, giving us a preview of what to expect next week in their second round tournament match, and if this was any indication of how that match would go, we're in for a doozie. Shelley worked over Sabin's right arm and shoulder, and tagged in Stryker. The two double teamed on Sabin, with Shelley applying a Wristlock, and Stryker diving off the top rope with a Double Ax Handle Smash to the shoulder. Sabin fought out of a Stryker Driver attempt and hit the Cradle Shock, allowing himself to tag in Sydal, who came in EN FUEGO! Sydal took out Stryker with a huge Spinning Heel Kick, and then knocked Shelley to the floor with a big forearm. Stryker took the control back, but Sydal tagged out to Sabin, who hit a Springboard Dropkick, and then set up for the Future Shock. Sabin connected with the move, but hurt his shoulder, and Shelley tagged himself in. The Next went to work on Sabin's arm again, and tried for the Border City Stretch, but Sydal grabbed his attention midway through the move. Shelley put the beat down on Sydal, and sent him off the top rope and onto the guardrail. Sabin attacked Shelley from behind, and he took some hard shots, but The Next waited for his opportunity, and struck like a rattlesnake, swiftly and lightning fast, taking Sabin to the mat with the Border City Stretch, and wrenching back on the hold to force the submission.

Winners: Stryker and Shelley

-Alex Shelley grabbed a mic and bragged about the win, saying that next week, not only is Stryker going to beat AJ Styles, but he (Shelley) is going to make Sabin give up for a second consecutive time. Shelley finished up by saying that the fans didn't deserve to see him out there, and that he had "pressing business" with Austin Aries.

Second Round Match

John Walters Vs Jimmy Rave

-Rave introduced himself as "The New Phenomenon" Jimmy Rave. Walters tried to go to the mat, but Rave kept the match in the air, showing off some of his skills, including an exact replica of AJ Styles' Springboard Roaring Forearm. Rave tried to hit the Quebrada Inverted DDT, but Walters turned it into an Emerald Fusion Driver for a two count. Rave fought back up, but Walters took him to the mat with an Indian Deathlock. Rave made his way to the ropes to break the hold. Walters signaled for the Hurricane DDT, but Rave blocked it, and applied From Dusk Til Dawn (Sattelite Crossface). Walters grabbed the bottom rope to break the hold, but Rave didn't break cleanly, as he put the boots to the back of his opponent's head. Rave then pulled Walters up and connected with the Clash for the three count.

-After the bout, Rave grabbed an AJ Styles sign from a fan in the front row, tore it up, and spat on it before leaving.

Fatal Four Way

Arik Cannon Vs Nigel McGuinness Vs Trent Acid Vs Joey Ryan

-Cannon and Ryan started the match, but Cannon quickly tagged out to McGuinness when Ryan had him pinned for a two count after a beautiful Swinging Neckbreaker. McGuinness took the match to the mat, working over Ryan's arm, but Joey showed him up, coming out on top with a Side Headlock, followed by a move into a Front Facelock, where he pulled Nigel up and then dropped to a knee, driving Nigel's face into his knee with a DDT-like maneuver. Ryan was showing everyone up until Acid came in and slapped him, right in the face. Ryan got angry and Acid took advantage, taking him down with a Drop Toe Hold, and then stomping on the knee, before applying a Bow and Arrow submission, but McGuinness tagged Ryan out so that he wouldn't tap, and then went at it with Acid. High spot of the match came when Acid and Cannon were double teaming Joey Ryan. Acid hit the ropes, and Cannon whipped Ryan towards Acid, but Ryan reversed it and Cannon ran right into a huge Yakuza Kick from Trent, who then fell victim to a German Suplex, followed by a Tiger Suplex for a two count. McGuinness and Ryan went to the mat again, but Acid tagged himself back in, this time tagging Ryan, and pinned Nigel after hitting an Acid Bomb for the win.

Winner: Trent Acid

Second Round Match

CM Punk Vs BJ Whitmer

-Punk and Whitmer went right at each other, showing no mercy in this stiff-fest. Whitmer busted Punk open with a DDT on the outside of the ring, but Punk responded by crotching BJ on the guardrail, and then taking him out with a Flying Clothesline from the ring steps. Punk worked over Whitmer's legs, but BJ reversed a Figure Four attempt into a Small Package for a two count. Whitmer and Punk exchanged Arm Drags, and then Punk ran Whitmer over with a Lariat. Punk tried for another, but Whitmer ducked it, and then sent Punk overhead with a Back Suplex variation. Whitmer set up, and delivered an amazingly sick Brainbuster, but Punk kicked out at two, and then managed to lock in a Single Leg Crab, wrenching back on the knee. The fans started a "Let's Go Jesus" chant, and Whitmer fought out of the hold. BJ blocked a KNife Edged Chop and exploded on Punk with rights and lefts and chops. Punk stopped the flury with a gouge of the eyes, followed by a boot to the gut, and then the Welcome To Chicago, Motherfucker for the exclamaition point. Punk covered, but Whitmer kicked out at two. Punk looked pissed, but kept his composure and set up for the Devil Lock DDT, but Whitmer blocked it, rammed Punk into the turnbuckle, and then sent him flying out of the corner with the Exploder '98! Whitmer crawled over to make the cover, but Punk kicked out at two. Punk was the first man up, and he set up for a Double Underhook, but Whitmer reversed out of it and hit another Exploder! This time, Whitmer picked up the three count with the move.

Winner: BJ Whitmer

Six Man Tag Match

Low Ki, Petey Williams and Ricky Reyes Vs Jimmy Jacobs, Jay Briscoe and Chris Hero

-Reyes and Hero tried to get at one another, but were continually forced out of the match, by tag or by confusion. Low Ki legit knocked out Jacobs with a huge kick to the head, leaving his team of Briscoe and Hero to battle all three members of the opposing team. The numbers game played a major part in the match, with the team of Ki, Williams and Reyes using their strength in numbers to keep a fresh man in. Ki and Reyes set up for a double team move, with Reyes on the top rope, on Briscoe, but Jimmy Jacobs made his return by crotching Reyes, and then delivering a Top Rope Hurricanrana! Jacobs celebrated, but walked right into Low Ki, who took him out with a devastating Ki Krusher. Williams tagged in, and set up for the Canadian Destroyer, but took too long setting up, and Hero caught him from behind with the Hero's Welcome. Hero and Low Ki brawled on the outside, where Reyes joined in, which allowed Briscoe to pull up his opponent and drop him with the Jay Driller for the pinfall victory.

Winners: Jacobs, Briscoe and Hero

Second Round Match

Bryan Danielson Vs Austin Aries

-The main event was under way, with Aries coming out with Frankie Kazarian in tow. Danielson came out eyeing Kazarian, who gave him the middle finger, and then told him that he was going to lose. Danielson shoved Kazarian, and then slid into the ring, where Aries put the boots to him right away, making sure that Danielson couldn't start the match with the advantage. Aries stretched the chest of Danielson with a Surfboard Stretch, that he then turned into a Curb Stomp. Aries arrogantly boasted to the crowd, with allowed Dragon to sneak up behind him and connect with a Bridging German Suplex for a two count. American Dragon kept on the attack, keeping Aries grounded with submission moves until Kazarian grabbed the ref's attention while Danielson was trying to apply the Cattle Mutilation. Dragon saw it and went over to grab Kazarian, but the ref got between them. As the ref was ejecting Kazarian to the back, Danielson applied the Cattle Mutilation, but the masked man from last week ran in through the crowd, and broke it up. He pulled Danielson up, and then drove him into the mat with a vicious Tiger Driver, dropping him on the back of his neck. The masked man slid out of the ring and hid under it as Aries covered Danielson. The ref noticed the pin and counted the three count, awarding the match to Austin Aries.

Winner: Austin Aries

After the match, Kazarian returned to the ring, distracting the ref, and allowing the masked man to high-tail it back through the crowd without the referee seeing him. Aries and Kazarian celebrated the victory, with Aries placing his foot on Danielson's face as he raised his arms in victory.
