It apparently was kept a secret. TMZ showed a picture of him a few months back with the weight loss, and it was assumed he dropped the weight for a movie role, like Christian Bale did for The Machinist.

Suck horribly. I feel sorry for his family. He was one of my favorite actors, and he was just as great at playing real people as he was fictional.

Really sad to hear about this loss. Loved him as an actor, and Black Panther is a favorite of mine. Gone way too soon.

This was not the sort of news that I wanted to wake up on a saturday to. What awful depressing news, taken away so young, such a radiant and (especially knowing what he's gone through the past years) inspirational actor who I always felt had something special in every film I saw of him.

I felt he was still very much at the beginning of his career too, between being the first black lead actor in a superhero franchise, he had many many more types of roles that he would've been perfect in.

And of course, leaving his family behind this early, it just tears me apart.

Between Kobe and now Chadwick, this year has been especially brutal towards people I respected and looked upto.

Rest easy, you beautiful man.

Its like 2020 saw what a terrible year 2016 was for deaths and said hold my beer. 

I remember seeing Chadwick as Jackie Robinson in "42"  back in 2013 and I was so psyched when he got cast as Black Panther and what a wonderful movie it was.

I genuinely had no idea he was even as old as in his 40s, I thought he was much younger. What an absolute shame, he was a great actor and to have done all the intense superhero required shit while dealing with that is incredible.

Had they started shooting anything for Black Panther 2? Like Tristy said I hope they don't recast him.
