Alex Laiho, the vocalist, guitarist and creative mastermind of Children Of Bodom and Sinergy, has passed away at age 41. According to an Instagram post he had been suffering from long-term health issues in the last years. After Children Of Bodom had split up in 2019 he started his new band Bodom After Midnight. They had just signed a new record deal and finished recording their first album.

Absolutely gutted by this. Been a fan of CoB as well as his old side project Sinergy for a long time and was looking forward to hear music from his new band. :(

A true shame; one of the best metal guitarists of a generation. Saw CoB live a few times and they were always fun.

Alexi's former Sinergy bandmate (and as it turns out legally still his wife as they apparently never divorced after separating in 2004) Kimberly Goss revealed the cause of his death: "Alcohol-induced degeneration of the liver and pancreas connective tissue". He also had a "cocktail of painkillers, opioids and insomnia medication" in his system.

I think a lot of people has guessed it would be alcohol related, with the issues he'd had over the years. Such a shame.
