Yes. Ben White hasn't got a 124mil contract

Neither has Varane.

And your source that Varane has is...?

Edit: Actually let's just do the math on this one - Varane is said to have signed a four deal with an option for a 5th, so that's either 31 million a year, or 24.8 million a year.

So according to you, Varane is signing a contract with Man United where he will either be paid just under 480,000 a week at the lower end... or just under 600,000 a week at the top end, assuming that supposed figure is all salary.

Do you really think United are going to be giving out that kind of salary?

They might, but not on a centre back.

This basically sums up where I am with football these days (not helped by having not gone to a game in 18 months or whatever it is), but at the point he was called up for England I genuinely had no idea who Ben White was. Literally couldn't pick him out of a lineup.

Varane is being bought to win trophies. Ben White is not.

Eh? Only one of those teams have won a trophy in the last 4 years and it wasn't United.

Chelsea are closing in on the signing of the goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli. The 29-year-old, a free agent after leaving Fulham, is expected to join the European champions on a two-year deal this week.

Chelsea need a new third-choice goalkeeper after the departure of Willy Caballero last month and Bettinelli is poised to provide competition for Édouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Bettinelli, who was also targeted by Aston Villa, rose through Fulham’s academy and made 120 appearances for the club, the first in 2014. He played a key role in Fulham winning promotion to the Premier League three years ago and was rewarded with a place in the England squad in September 2018.

However Bettinelli’s international aspirations were dented after he fell down the pecking order at Craven Cottage. He spent last season at Middlesbrough, who missed out on a Championship play-off spot, and has decided to seek a fresh challenge.

Chelsea’s 18-year-old right-back Tino Livramento is expected to complete a move to Brighton soon.

This is one of the stranger transfer saga's i have seen in a while.

Former Schalke player and american under 21 player Haji Wright have left danish club SønderjyskE. Or rather. He haven't left the club via a transfer. He have just left. Then he pops up in Antalyaspor in Turkey. Then that club announces him as a loanee signing with a purchase option, even though SønderjyskE have not confirmed that the deal is anywhere near done and still hold his player certificate. Wright who was pissed that SønderjyskE didnt sell him to Malmö in the winter transfer window, had made it pretty clear that he wanted away asap.

Wright never reported for the preseason, and as stated turned up in Antalya instead. Here he has already played in a training match, even though his certificate as a player still is at the club to whom he is under contract. The californian is playing a dangerous game right now.

Strike 1: He have committed breach of contract by staying away from the preseason without reason
Strike 2: He turns up in Turkey and is presented as a new player, even though the deal is nothing near done
Strike 3 (and this is a big one) He plays a training match for the new "club"

If he had picked up any serious injury. SønderjyskE wont have to pay him anything because he have represented a club to which he is not under a contract and that doesnt even have his certificate. So if the worst case scenario happens to the player. The club that he is (at time of this writing) under contract to, can tear up his contract and not owe him a single dime. The club (SønderjyskE) can in fact apply for compensation from the player.

Haji. You really fucked up

Update on the story:
The club have loaned Wright out to Antalyaspor as expected. But they have also added an extra year to the existing contract. Basically telling him: "You get to show off yourself in a foreign market. But if they dont want to pay for your services going forward, then you still have to play for us two seasons after this loan deal." also known as the "Oh you thought you were getting off easy after making fools out of us?" approach.

going to imagine this is West Ham moving on from Fabianski at this point. He's done them very well, but he's getting up there and has a history of a bad hip now. He did very well for Fulham.
