The Sir Alex Ferguson Thread (For Manager related news)

I purposely avoided calling this the Football Managers thread, because it would annoy people who might think there's a new post in the game thread a section up if viewing on desktop, so this will do.

With plenty of manager sackings, resignations and appointments already, use this thread to discuss them.

As mentioned in the Summer Transfers thread, Ronald Koeman is now expected to stay at Barcelona next season.

Should have gone for someone already dead to be safe.

It was him or Walter Winterbottom, but the Americans would have never believed someone would actually have that name.

Maybe "The Clough/Fergie/Wenger Thread" or something would be better. Good idea for a topic though, I wasn't sure where to go with the Ancelotti news and other managerial moves the other day.

Steady now; don't let blow Baddar up too much.

Speaking of the future Spurs managers, Sol Campbell is doing the rounds again asking why no club higher up the pyramid than Southend has given him a chance yet - he's apparently applied for 16 jobs in the last year and only Sunderland gave him an interview. It might have something to do with the fact that he's a bit crap.

Some on these boards would even call him a different c-word.

He came out of both the Macclesfield and Southend jobs with a lot of credit. Joined sinking ships and improved them, even if not enough to stop the rot because they were both clubs in dire trouble. Macc don't even exist anymore and Southend just sank into the Conference.

It's hard to deny that there is a racial bias in management in England, when only a couple of the 92 jobs available are held by BAME managers.

My personal opinion on the individual that is Sol Campbell aside, he got dealt two losings hands with Maccs and Southend and he did as well as any manager could in the situation. They were both circling the drain, and as Adam said one of the teams has gone tits up whilst the other has plummetted into the conference and might go tits up itself if it doesn't change anything soon.

And I agree on the notion that racial representation is still a significant issue in football, in the English leagues too. The fact that the likes of Hodgson, Steve Bruce, or even (bless the memes) Big Sam Allardyce are getting Premier League/Championship level jobs despite having done fuck all in recent times highlight that ongoing issue.

I think a lot of certain clubs circle the same small group of managers such as the Bruce's/Hodgson's and Big Sam's of the world because they're known of doing a certain standard of job.

It is shocking the lack of BAME managers. The thing with Campbell is he's proven he can do something at a certain level, is he being over passed due to ability, race or attitude?
