I know nothing about sailing but the medal race with Germany and GBR battling it out to the end, with GBR needing someone in between them and NZL who were third in the race to get the gold was exciting stuff.

Quite glad I stayed up for the 400m hurdles final. Absolutely fantastic race. He's basically shaved a full second off the world record this year. Amazing.

Armand Duplantis was really close to breaking the Pole Vault world Record on his first attempt at it. Felt a bit sad for him, despite him getting the Gold Medal anyway, because it was so close.

USA defeats South Korea to advance to the gold medal baseball game against undefeated Japan.

Japan are heavily favored, having paused their professional season to field an All Star team for the Olympics.  Japan lobbied very hard to get baseball and softball back into the Olympics, so anything less than gold would be a disappointment for them.  Team USA meanwhile is composed of minor leaguers and washed up veterans, so they're playing with house money.

Either way, with today's win Eddy Alvarez has become the sixth person to win a medal at both the Summer and Winter Olympics.

My understanding was the Aussies were supposed to be really good servers too.
