GTA: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition

There's something that's always looked odd to me about the characters since the trailers came out. I'll have to see if it's any better in game when I try SA but my initial thought was they looked like something out of an off brand animated movie. Like, not a Disney or Pixar one, something you'd see from DreamWorks about a talking shoe voiced by Oprah Winfrey.

Looks like Rockstar have delisted the PC version for sale to fix bugs. It's been a wierd release for Rockstar, no real footage other than 59 seconds worth before release, no access to game reviews to early looks at it and give opinions, and now having to pull the PC version for bugs. It's like they're trying to do a Cyberpunk launch

Apparently, the PC version hasn't been delisted because of bugs, but because it includes files that shouldn't be accessible to players. Some of them are songs that were cut for licensing reasons, and so continuing to sell the game would probably result in some legal ramifications. The Hot Coffee thing is reportedly still referenced in the code as well.

Oh, who cares? I mean, seriously? You can buy fucking porn games on Steam. GTA SA came out 17 years ago; I'd like to think everyone's matured enough to not give a fuck about a badly animated sex scene where what you see is at best comparable to Cinemax <_< .

I'm pretty sure I read that a lot of the original source code for these games was lost / never archived, because the original devs didn't think they'd ever have to revisit it.

Also haven't played any of them yet (about to re-sub to GamePass to play SA), but apparently the tree and greenery assets are directly from GTA V?

As for why this code is even in these newly released ports, the best theory is that the devs behind the collection were given the “master build” of San Andreas and just didn’t remove anything from it. So all of Rockstar’s comments, changes, and code from the most recent build should be present within GTA The Trilogy - Definitive Edition’s files.

I have to say that I'm enjoying this version of San Andreas more than the original, which I struggled several times to get into. The controls and checkpoints are very welcome additions.

That said, I don't like what this release stands for. Rockstar removed the old versions from digital sale and aggressively took down a lot of arguably superior fan mods in the build-up to these remasters. It's a bad look for a company that already has a reputation for overworking its staff.
