Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is coming to Game Pass on Thursday, along with Outer Wilds (which has been on before). Spelunky 2 joins on 13th January. Windjammers 2 will be a day-one addition on 20th January, along with Pupperazzi, which will obviously be the best of the lot.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition just got added to Gamepass out of nowhere.

Well that's exciting! I have the first game on Steam but never got far. I might check it out!

Going to get to a point where there's going to be an industry monopoly at some stage.

Least I've got a better laptop now...

Given how long this likely has been in the works it's reasonable to assume Microsoft saw everything that had been going on with Activision Blizzard and still decided "full speed ahead". Clearly they're trying to get as many big publishers to be exclusive to them as possible as they keep building their focus around GamePass.

But the biggest part of this acquisition is King Games who are a revenue behemoth, courtesy in part to the lack of regulation the definitely-not-a-casino mobile games are subject to.

Don't be surprised if this just accelerates increased consolidation in gaming as a whole. And continues the transformation of indie gaming from passion projects to tech startups that are trying to get acquired.

In addition to that, it's been cited in various places (IGN, etc) that the deal was an eye-watering $70bn.

Anyway, looking forward to an Xbox Smash Bros rip-off now. :)

The yearly CoD release doesn't feel nearly as big as back in the days of Black Ops, MW2 etc but to have that release day 1 on Game Pass feels like it would be big. Especially so for MS if you then use that to turn heads of Sony players.

I'd be curious as well if they bundled something for WoW players on GP. Like, maybe not throw in a free sub but like half price or something? Then again, I'm not sure what the ven diagram is for WoW players and people using GP.

I would imagine COD would go to a timed exclusive for Xbox after current contracts with Sony expire, but we also all thought Bethesda titles would be cross platform after they were bought and Phil Spencer has clarified that’s not going to be the case.

Plus I don’t think Microsoft cares about millions in sales a year when this is pretty much ONLY about making Gamepass stronger. Millions of dollars a year in sales is a drop in the bucket, surely.

It also explains Phil Spencer's comments when asked about Activision, what, last week? The week before that? There was that interview where he basically said he didn't want to comment or pass judgment on other companies when asked about the Activision/Xbox relationship and whether they were re-evaluating it.

Guess they did re-evaluate...

Quick and easy way to get rid of the poison if he believes it to be poison, which by all accounts, how could you not.

Bobby Kotick probably won’t leave Activision until at least the end of next year, if that even happens. The acquisition won’t close until sometime late this year or early 2023.
