Club-by-club guide to the 2022-23 fixtures

  • Big six all kept apart immediately before the World Cup as requested by Gareth Southgate.
  • Chelsea v Liverpool on weekend of 17 September, immediately before final international break before the World Cup.
  • Manchester City get four home games immediately before Champions League matches, Liverpool and Chelsea three, Tottenham two.
  • Also, a couple of papers ran the line about no midweek game between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day programme. This is normal when Boxing Day is on a Monday [happened in 2011 and 2016]. The additional fixture is in the midweek after New Year [Monday 2nd Jan].

I was reading about all the unique league schedules this year to accommodate for the international break happening in November and December. Bundesliga is a closed shop for 2 months!

It'll be a truly odd season and I suspect will give us the likeliest season in years for a surprise top 4 finisher in the majority of the major domestic leagues.

I'm definitely happy as a Liverpool fan that Salah, Robbo, and Diaz will be fresh for the second half of the season with no World Cup, Fabinho is only a Brazil squad player, and Southgate doesn't trust Trent.

Should be a interesting unique season. Have to wonder if it could be the start of thing's with the World Cup changing around when it might be played that certain year, or a change to the format of the Premier League and match fixtures going forward.

Depends how the schedule works out. If it's successful and if clubs prefer it more or less.

Seven teams from London this year. That’s too many.

Which ones would you like to relegate?

6 London teams out of 20 isn't has bad as the League of Ireland Premier Division which is 50% Dublin teams with no teams currently in the division further south than the captial.

The first division is far more evenily distributed with 0 teams from Dublin this season because a) Shelbourne and UCD got promoted and b) Cabinteely were taken over and subsequently merged with Bray Wanderers
