TEW20 Real World Update: January 2023

Recommended Posts

Here is the update for January, nothing major this month, the usual updates for the month, there are a few additions and renames all listed in the editor.

There is going to be an updated BUMP pack which I'll add in a couple of days, just need to upload them to the Google Drive, I lost a couple days due to my internet going down so I'm a day or two behind.

Enjoy.

Database: January 2023
Graphics: October 2022 (Google Drive)
BUMP Workers and Belts: January 2023 (Google Drive)

KyKy Workers: January 2022 (Last KyKy Pack)
KyKy Worker Expansion: June 2020 (KyKy)
Worker Expansion contains pictures of wrestlers holding titles, along with non wrestlers cut on the same background used for workers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is [Promotion] closed when they are active?
Due to how slow the game runs with more promotions active, I have included active promotions but have them closed, to identify these they have their opening date and closed date the same. To activate the promotion simply remove the closed date.

So I'm confused as to what the difference is between the BUMP pics and the regular pics. I don't even know what the hell BUMP is. [/boomer]

It's the new pic pack I'm moving over to, I've been building it more than switching over, it should mostly work with the mod but might need some changes.

Broadcasters

  • Epix was relaunched as MGM+ on 2023-01-15.
  • Eurosport Player has been retired, with users being migrated over to Discovery+. (Sauce)
  • On 2023-01-12, OCS Choc and OCS City were merged to form OCS Pulp.

Media Groups

  • Canal+ have purchased the Orange Cinema Group, which includes the OCS series of channels. (Sauce)
  • MGM+ is owned by Amazon. (Sauce)
  • Tribune Broadcasting Company was purchased by Nexstar Media Group and the deal was completed on 2019-09-19. The Nexstar Media Group owns Antenna TV and NewsNation, as well as 75% of The CW. (Sauce)
  • Walt Disney Television was renamed Disney General Entertainment Content in 2022. This consists of ABC, Disney Channel, Freeform, FX, and FXX.

Broadcaster Size

I noticed on the SAG-AFTRA website this week that they have the 2022 Cable Unit values [PDF] listed, and TNT has marginally more subscribers than the USA Network, so I think it’s only fair that TNT’s coverage is bumped up to Big from Medium to match.

MLW Underground will premiere on REELZ on 2023-02-07. (Sauce 1) (Sauce 2)

According to the 2022 Cable Unit values [PDF] chart, of the networks in the database, REELZ's subscriber numbers are between TV One and AXS TV. I'd bump up TV One from Very Small to Small to match AXS TV, and put REELZ's coverage in the same range.

(I've created a spreadsheet version of the Cable Unit values here because it's far more readable than the PDF version too)

Dalys la Caribena should be born approximately 1967-1968. I have read she was 42 when she debuted. She should have a mercenary attribute (or something similar) and at least be muscular body type. Her relationship with Veneno should be Blood Relative, not Loyalty (they are siblings).

Spoiler

Dalys & Negro Casas have left CMLL and joined AAA.

Lady Flammer and The Tiger (Tamaulipas) are married.

Lady Jaguar retired years ago to start a family.

This is a case of not enough info out when I added her and I didn't get round to updating it, according to Cagematch and Wiki, they have her date of birth as February 20, 1975, so I'll put that down, LuchaWiki has it down as ?? which is likely where I just used the 20 years from debut age.

Got all these updated, the only one I would question is Hi69 to Hiroki, according to Cagematch it has him down as Hi69 now, and searching Wrestle Universe he's under the name Hi69 for a January 2023 show listed.

EDIT

On a related note, do you think the promotions active best represent the region, I've kinda stuck with them for a while but I'm open to switching up if there are better options, Ice Ribbon, Michinoku Pro and ZERO1 I've always been looking at replacing if a better promotion can be added, although saying that I think I have a free spot to add for Japan so I'm open to adding another to the list too. 12 seems good without overloading it.

Ha fair on Hi69/Hiroki; I thought he had transitioned entirely away from Hi69 in NOAH but I double-checked and nah, sometimes even on the same match graphic they use both names for him.

GLEAT should get that 12th spot in the database imo. So many of the people I removed from other companies actually work for GLEAT now that I considered just putting it in my first post

Ice Ribbon and M-Pro I'd definitely keep, and ZERO1 I'd lean toward keeping as well. There's always Gatoh Move/ChocoPro, that definitely gets more buzz (at least outside of Japan) than ZERO1, but gameplay-wise ZERO1 has a unique product in Japan while ChocoPro would probably be classified Avantgarde Puroresu like DDT/TJPW.

I'll look into adding GLEAT for March.
