I was just thinking about great Australian bands like AC/DC, INXS and Hunters & Collectors. Then I thought of Powderfinger, they are one of Australia's best loved rock bands today and have been touring for a few years. I asked some people if they thought that they did well overseas, but they weren't sure. So has anyone heard of them in the U.S. or Britain?

I think I've seen them live - didn't they do the warm-up for Crowded House's farewell concert outside Sydney Opera House?

I think it was them - they were OK, but didn't really capture my attention or anything.

I heard of them and bought the first album available in the US (around 2001-ish release), but kind of soured on them when one of the tracks on said album seemed to be one of the most watered-down and blatant ripoffs of a song I'd seen in years (in this instance, the NIN song "We're in this Together" reimagined as "We Should Be Together Now".)
