A lot of the songs are similar to Beatles numbers, the look can even be confused at times (Liam does have a freakish resemblence to Lennon with the beard and longer hair).

Although just as much influence comes from a few other bands, especially T-Rex (listen to the intro to Get It On by T-Rex then Cigs and Alcohol by Oasis).

Heard the Ryan Adams one on the O.C, tis ok.

There was a documentary on Oasis on Channel 4 a month or so ago and Noel explained that there songs sound similar to others because they were never meant to be released. They never thought they would ever get a record deal and only expected to be a live act thus it didn't matter if they used other bands music to influence their own. For example there is a song on Defenitely Maybe which sounds just like I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing.

Wow...kinda surprised nobody's mentioned my favorite:

Here's a thought for every man

who tries to understand what is in his hands.

He walks along the open road of love and life

surviving if he can.

Bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say...

Chained to all the places that he never wished to say...

...and as faced the sun he cast no shadow.

As they took his soul, they stole his pride...

...and as he faced the sun he cast no shadow
