Raw Preview

10/01/2005

Tonight we see the aftermath of New Year's Revolution which left a lot of unanswered questions for us all on the Raw brand. What will new World Heavyweight Champion Edge have to say to the world? And what of the other five Elimination Chamber contestants. What will Randy Orton have to say about his quick elimination, or Batista on his. Or even the shocker of the night when Batista turned on his Evolution friend- Triple H and cost him the World Heavyweight title? All these questions may be answered tonight.

As for the matches tonight, last night we saw the debut of Paul Buchill as he ripped The Hurricane apart during his match with Christian. However, tonight he will be ringside as The Hurricane takes on another allie of Christian- Tyson Tomko. This should be an interesting match to say the least.

Also, tonight we start our Road To WrestleMania, as we decide the 15 Raw Superstars who will represent the brand in the Royal Rumble at the end of the month- in just 20 days to be precise! Who will be in- who won't- and who will get the coveted number thirty spot is all on the line as Raw begins on it's path towards the greatest spectacle of them all- WrestleMania XXI in Hollywood!

In other action, Viscera and new Women's Champion, Molly Holly will take on Lita and Val Venis in a intergender tag team contest.

Don't miss Raw this Monday night as we start on our path to WrestleMania with the Royal Rumble being our first stop.

Confirmed Matches:

The Hurricane vs. Tyson Tomko w/ Paul Burchill

Molly Holly & Viscera vs. Lita & Val Venis

WELCOME TO RAW!

The usual pyro’s go off and the camera pans around the arena. We then cut to the announce desk where we join our usual hosts, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler.

JIM ROSS: Welcome everyone to Monday Night Raw! I’m your host JR, joined by the King at ringside!

JERRY LAWLER: And what a show we had last night. We crowned a new World Heavyweight Champion JR!

JIM ROSS: It was extraordinary ladies and gentlemen- Edge is now the World Heavyweight Champion after spending almost forty minutes inside that Elimination Chamber Match.

JERRY LAWLER: And he’s in the ring now!

THE (NEW) CHAMP HAS A FEW WORDS TO SAY

Edge is in the ring with his World Heavyweight title over his shoulder. He has stitches all over his face as he takes off his sunglasses and grabs a microphone from the side and begins to speak as the crowd give him a mixed reaction.

EDGE: Welcome everyone to Raw…. Is…. Edge!

The crowd again give him a mixed reaction.

EDGE: I am finally getting the justice that I deserve around here. After being screwed out of this title so many times, I stand before you all today as your new World Heavyweight Champion!

Another mixed reaction from the crowd.

EDGE: And I promise that I will not disappoint you. I will make you proud, and make you want to watch Raw. Because I know you were all getting a little bored of Triple H being champion around here. And that’s why finally you can have a champion that will sell the show and make Raw what it is today- entertaining. So, it’s been nice talking to you all tonight, but I will be back later. Thank you. Thank you all.

And with that he leaves the ring with the fans giving him another mixed reaction.

The Hurricane vs. Tyson Tomko

A short opener here- probably because it features Tomko, although it wasn’t too bad to be honest. That animal Burchill was by his side and sent The Hurricane into the steel steps. From then on, The Hurricane had no chance and Tomko just played around with him for a little while before sending him shoulder first into the turnbuckle pad. However The Hurricane fought back and almost nailed the Eye of the Hurricane on Tomko, but Burchill pulled The Hurricane’s leg. The Hurricane turned right round into a sidewalk slam from Tomko, giving Tomko the win.

After the match Burchill got in the ring and knocked The Hurricane down with a HUGE clothesline as the crowd booed.

Winner: Tyson Tomko.

When we return we cut to the back where we see our General Manager, Eric Bischoff sitting in his office with a huge grin on his face.

ERIC BISCHOFF: Well are just 20 days away from the Royal Rumble- where our Road to WrestleMania truly starts. Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, The Rock, Brock Lesnar, and more recently, Chris Benoit have all won the prestigious event. But there is one man who despite not winning made an impressive debut in last year’s match. And that man returns to Raw next week. His name is BILL GOLDBERG!

The crowd cheer as we cut back to the ring.

A CHALLENGE, WOOOOO!!!

In the ring we see our World Heavyweight Champion, Edge standing to a mixed reaction from the fans as he begins to speak.

EDGE: You know what, as I was walking into my car, about to go home and see my lovely wife, I thought about something. Many champions have done that- taken the easy way out. But that’s not me. I worked my *** off to get this- and by God the fans want to see me defend it tonight. And so that’s exactly what I am gonna do.

The fans cheer at the thought of a title match on Raw tonight.

EDGE: That’s right ladies and gentlemen- I am willing to put my title on the line tonight and risk losing it just twenty-four hours after winning it. And so I am challenging anyone on the Raw roster that thinks that they want to step up to the challenge. I don’t care whether it’s someone who I have never faced before, because I am up for a challenge. Hell, I don’t even care if it’s a freakin’ legend- I’ll still beat ‘em. Basically, as long as they have legs and can wrestle it’s on!

After a short pause Ric Flair’s music hits the arena and then he makes his way down to the ring as the fans go wild. Flair gets in the ring and Edge eyes him up and down and looks confused. Flair grabs a microphone and begins to speak as the usual “Woooooo!” chants begin.

RIC FLAIR: I see the way you’re looking at me Edge, and I know it may seem shocking that Ric Flair has answered your challenge. But I am up for it tonight- I need to get some gold around the waist of Evolution. Woooooo!

Edge looks Flair up and down once again as Flair begins to strut. Edge smiles and then begins to speak once again.

EDGE: You know what, this could be fun. And so I am gonna say yes. Because I can’t wait to kick your *** tonight!

RIC FLAIR: You know what, I have been in this business for a long time now- and I have never, ever heard that amount of **** come out of a champion before. And I have won the belt sixteen times- more than the number of years you had a brace on you Canadian son of a bitch! It’s on, it’s on! Woooooo!

Flair struts as he drops the microphone and makes his way to the back with the crowd hyped up for tonight’s title match in the Main Event.

IT'S NOT... OVER YET!!!

We quickly cut to the back where we see Gene Snitsky floor Kane with a trash can out of absoloutley nowhere. Officials try to get in the way but get floored by Snitsky. The two exchange right hands and then Kane spears Snitsky through a door into the Women’s locker room with several divas (and female staff members) covering themselves. They exit the room and start brawling in the hall again. Snitsky smashes Kane through a table and then hits him with a metal tray. Kane gets straight back up to his feet and grabs Snitsky by the throat and tosses him into the wall and then nails a Big Boot. They exchange rights once again, but officials get in the way and separate the carnage as the crowd go wild. This issue is far from over.

Lita & Val Venis vs. Molly Holly & Viscera

Another short match here, though it was a Women’s one. Molly and Viscera worked surprisingly well as a team here, with Viscera just protecting her all throughout the match and not allowing Venis in the ring at all. God knows what Venis was doing in there after losing to Viscera twice in a row. Anyways some good spots from Lita and Women’s champion Molly here, with Lita missing the moonsault not once, but twice which was kinda funny. Anyways, Molly won after Viscera splashed all 400-plus pounds onto Lita, and Molly nailed the Molly-Go-Round and got the win.

Winners: Molly Holly & Viscera.

NOT RAW MATERIAL

As soon as Molly and Viscera got the pin Eric Bischoff appeared on screen with a microphone, and didn’t look as happy or impressed as he was earlier on in the night.

ERIC BISCHOFF: That’s it Val, I am sick of this. You just losing every single match you are in. and that’s why premature to this match- sorry loss- I phoned Theodore Long over on Smackdown, and asked whether he could do me a deal. And we have accepted. And so from now on Val, you are no longer a part of Raw.

The crowd are shocked to hear that Val Venis will be getting fired.

ERIC BISCHOFF: And you’re replacement is right behind you!

We cut back to the ring and Val Venis turns right round into a vicious Spinebuster from none other than Bill DeMott- our new Raw Superstar.

ERIC BISCHOFF: So, if security would like to escort Mr. Venis out of my arena. As like I said, he is no longer a part of Raw.

Security makes their way down to the ring and escort Val out the ring as the crowd boo.

THE FRENCH ARE NOT ALONE…

When we return we go straight to the back to a darkly lit room with our new World Tag Team Champions, La Resistance.

ROBERT CONWAY: Bonjour my non-French friends. Welcome to another era of La Resistance as the new World Tag Team Champions here on Raw. However this time will be different, won’t it Sylvain.

SYLVAIN GRENIER: Yeah, that’s right Robert. You tell them all about it.

ROBERT CONWAY: Well, we don’t want to be revealing too much now, do we. All we are going to say for now is that La Resistance is returning to Raw in two weeks.

SYLVAIN GRENIER: That's right an entirely new La Resistance. A La Resistance at full force.

ROBERT CONWAY: I mean, look at us. We were the longest reigning World Tag Team Champions in seven years just a few months ago- before those idiots Eugene and William Regal had to take that from us.

SYLVAIN GRENIER: But never again.

ROBERT: Never again, because we will be back in full force.

SYLVAIN GRENIER: And Regal, Eugene- this time we certainly won’t be alone!

ROBERT CONWAY: Au Revoir!

THE HIGHLIGHT REEL (ft. THE GAME)

We cut back to the ring where the fans are ready for Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel. Triple H’s music hit the arena, and the crowd booed as The Game makes his way down to the ring and grabs a microphone and begins to speak.

TRIPLE H: You know what, it’s a shame that Chris Jericho got knocked out backstage before he could get to see the debut edition of my new segment on Raw- Game Talk ™.

The crowd boo.

TRIPLE H: That’s right, The Game now has his own show, brought to you by the leader of Evolution and the rightful owner of the World Heavyweight Championship!

The crowd boo again, this time louder however.

TRIPLE H: Yeah, that’s right; I rightfully deserve to have the World Heavyweight title around my waist for the tenth time. I was robbed, and I will make sure that I get my rematch after Flair. But more on that later. Tonight is about my new show, which is replacing the Highlight Reel. So could we get rid of that crap Jeritron 3000, and welcome The Game 4000!

Jericho’s TV is raised and then a slightly bigger screen is lowered and the crowd boo.

TRIPLE H: A lot, lot better ladies and gentlemen. And don’t worry, next week we’ll have an entirely different setting from this piece of cat rug! God, it makes me sick. It really does. And so now, let’s welcome my first ever guest- none other than the person who I defeated at SummerSlam not so long ago- and who thought that he could ever become a part of Evolution- EUGENE!!!

Eugene’s music hits the arena and then everyone’s favourite Raw Superstar makes his way down to the ring as the crowd cheer wildly. Eugene climbs into the ring and is handed a microphone from the side as the crowd cheer.

TRIPLE H: Welcome to the show-

EUGENE: Hello everybody!

The crowd cheer.

TRIPLE H: Well, that’s nice, Eugene. Saying hello to the fans that saw you lose your World Tag Team titles last night, huh?

The crowd boo.

EUGENE: Now that wasn’t very nice. ‘Specially coming from the man who lost the big boys title to Edge last night!

The crowd cheer as The Game begins to get angry, but he keeps a straight face.

TRIPLE H: Now, Eugene we all know that I am your favourite wrestler and that I didn’t really lose did I?

Eugene shakes his head in disagreement. He then gets down to a referee’s position and does a “mock” 3 count as the fans go wild.

EUGENE: That’s what happened last night.

TRIPLE H: You know what Eugene. You’re just jealous. That’s right, jealous, because you have never been World Heavyweight Champion. Infact you’ve never been any champion apart from reject champion along with William Regal. That’s right Eugene; you make me sick- just like I said last time before I kicked your *** in the ring!

Eugene begins to cry. Triple H slaps him round the face as the crowd boo. He turns round cockily and grins widely to the crowd. Eugene is powering up however, and as The Game turns round Eugene floors him with a punch. The Game gets back up and then grabs one of Jericho’s chairs and smashes it over the back of Eugene and pedigrees him right onto the mat as the crowd boo. He gets back up smiling happily to himself. He grabs a microphone and begins to speak once again as the crowd boo as loudly as they can.

TRIPLE H: And that’s what happens to people who mess with The Game on Game Talk! Jericho, you can kiss my ***!

Triple H drops the microphone and then makes his way to the back as the fans boo loudly.

JIM ROSS: Well folks, what an interesting night we have had so far, and we may see a new World Heavyweight Champion here, as we have a World title match right here on Raw.

JERRY LAWLER: I can’t believe that Edge will be wrestling Ric Flair tonight.

JIM ROSS: Well could the match be any bigger. It is definitely the biggest match of Edge’s career as he has never beaten the Nature Boy. However, it is just as big for the Nature Boy as he has the chance to become a seventeen time World Heavyweight Champion, breaking his own record.

JERRY LAWLER: And at his age, that would be an awesome achievement for him. I wish I had this sort of opportunity to do something like that! It's so unfair!

JIM ROSS: Well, you should've answered his challenge earlier tonight then.

JERRY LAWLER: I was too busy looking at Lita and those girls in the shower earlier JR, you know what I'm like!

JIM ROSS: Yeah....

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Edge © vs. Ric Flair

Although Flair is obviously getting on, it was still nice to see the old man challenge a younger guy for the title once again. Some decent chaining at the beginning with Flair doing his usual sequences. Some nice reversals from Edge, as he obviously had the advantage in this match as far as speed was concerned and he managed to get out of several of Flair’s moves with ease. However Flair was no fool, and knew what he was doing all along- giving Edge the false security. Every time Edge thought he had the advantage and tried for the Edgeocution Flair began working on that leg. However Edge tricked the dirtiest player in the Game by locking him in his own Figure Four Leglock. But Flair knew every reversal in the book and soon got out of it. The match went back and forth from then, and Flair managed to nail a move from the top rope- a double axe handle which shocked the crowd. Flair tried for the Figure Four, but Edge just wouldn’t submit, and then he eventually got to the ropes. Flair was soon victim to an Edgeocution, and then Edge locked Flair in the Edgecator and Flair had no choice but to tap out as the crowd went wild.

Afterwards Edge was joined in the ring by Chris Benoit, Randy Orton and The Game, Triple H. they all brawled in the ring, all angry that Edge won the title and not them. However down comes Batista wearing bandages. He gets in the ring and floors everyone with clotheslines and powerslams. He reaches The Game and gives him a devastating Batista Bomb, signalling the end of his stay in Evolution. Shawn Michaels runs down to the ring and delivers a Super Kick to Batista sending him down- making him the last man standing in the ring as Raw comes to an end with the fans on the edge of their seats with excitement.

Injury News

There have been two injuries over the weekend. Firstly the rumours are true that Intercontinental Champion, Shelton Benjamin injured himself after taking a bad bump at New Year's Revolution which is the reason for him being left off Raw last night. He will wrestle on next weeks Raw, perhaps to lose the title before taking some important pre-Mania time off. Another superstar who injured themselves recently is Tyson Tomko who will be out for about a month due to recent back problems. God knows what we'll do now after these two injuries.

Shock Retirement Announcement

Today the WWE and Paul Levesque had a meeting regarding his future with the company. And as a direct result of that meeting, Paul has decided to retire from a wrestling role after WrestleMania in April. Paul has decided to keep his job on the Booking Team, but will have his last match at WrestleMania. We are very sad to see Paul go like this, but it is what he wants, and we shall have to see how this affects Raw in the next few months.

WWE Newsround

Flair unhappy about his Raw loss, contract dispute

Despite it being his idea to lose to new World Heavyweight Champion last night on Raw, Flair was still unhappy that he lost leaving many people upset with him. This complaint comes after Flair wants a rise in his salary and- you guessed it- a creative control clause. He also wants to have a minimum of two more title reigns. We feel that he is being TOO demanding, and as he isn't as big of a star as he once was that the deal is stupid and unreasonable. Flair's contract is up just before Backlash.

Triple H News

It has been revealed that the main reason for Triple H's retirement is because his wife Stephanie McMahon is pregnant, and so Triple H wants to be there to support his wife and his new child.

The Rock's Return in Jeapordy

Despite never being out with an injury, The Rock reckons that it may be time to slow down, and so may not have his usual two-week WrestleMania job this year. However at this point in time, he WILL work the show, but it looks like it will be in a non-wrestling role.

Raw Superstars Unhappy with Goldberg's Return

Many Raw superstars are very upset with the announcement that Goldberg will return to Raw on Monday, and shall also be a part of BOTH the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. Many superstars felt that his involvement in the last Rumble left them looking weak, and embarrased, especially when Goldberg was only dipped over the top rope by Angle in the end. However, Raw's leading force (Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair) are happy because Goldberg has NO Creative Control Clause in his contract- despite asking for one.

The Undertaker Wants Another Raw Superstar At Mania

The Undertaker has stated that he wants to face a Raw Superstar at WrestleMania for the second year running. He has stated that he would want to face Shawn Michaels. However, Shawn Michaels is more than likely going to go into a program with Kurt Angle- and many feel that this is a fans dream match and that Taker vs. Shawn has been done to death many times in the past.

Steve Austin Signs!

Finally after almost eight months of asking, Stone Cold Steve Austin has signed a brand new contract with the WWE. We are ecstatic, and are also very happy to let you know that he will be a part of WrestleMania in some capacity and will be heavily involved in the advertising campaign for it, along with The Rock. It is unknown whether Austin will wrestle, but we are looking for him to enter the Royal Rumble Match on January 30th. But as usual, we'll keep you posted.

Smackdown Preview

January 13th 2005

MAINE

Tonight our General Manager, Theodore Long will name the official number one contender for JBL's WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble on January 30th. Will it be The Undertaker after his victory over Rene Dupree last week, or perhaps even the Big Show after he defeated (now) former Smackdown superstar, Bill DeMott. Or perhaps he will be most impressed with Eddie Guerrero after his two victories over Kurt Angle last week? We have no idea, and your guess is as good as ours, as only Theodore Long knows who he will give the spot to. And we will have to watch Smackdown to find out.

In ring action however, Hardcore Holly will take on Kurt Angle in a match which should be very interesting to watch as both men have great experience in the technical field. However, will Heidenreich make his face known.

Also, in other action Akio will take on arch-nemesis, Paul London in the third match in their series- but for the first time on Smackdown, which should be interesting to watch. Also another added feature is that this match will be a Royal Rumble Qualifiying Match, with the winner entering and the loser not.

Also in the ring tonight will be recently traded superstar, Val Venis as he takes on JBL's Chief of Staff, Orlando Jordan in the show's opener. Could Val Venis end the losing streak that his former General Manager, Eric Bischoff was talking about and secure a win here, or will OJ use his cheap ways (otherwise known as The Basham Brothers) to steal another victory on Smackdown tonight? Watch the show to find out.

And last but certainly not least, United States Champion, John Cena will take on Kenzo Suzuki in a non-title match. And you have got to wonder how closely Carlito Caribbean Cool will be watching from home, as well as his assistant, Jesus.

Smackdown is set to be good. And whoever wins the spot as the number one contender for JBL's title will surely be a threat to the title as JBL's reign surpasses the 200-day mark. Watch Smackdown for all this action, and probably a lot more.

Confirmed Matches:

WELCOME TO SMACKDOWN!

The usual pyro’s go off and then we cut straight to the announce desk where we join our usual hosts, Michael Cole and Tazz at ringside, with the crowd hot for tonight’s event.

MICHAEL COLE: Welcome everybody to another edition of Smackdown! Last week was truly shocking with Hulk Hogan returning to the WWE to save Eddie Guerrero from an attack by Kurt Angle and Luther Reigns.

TAZZ: It was truly amazing as Hogan just returned out of nowhere!

MICHAEL COLE: But what about the actual match itself.

TAZZ: Oh, it was spectacular, Cole. I have never seen anything like that in my life. Awesome stuff from both guys who were just out there to show our General Manager, Theodore Long why they deserve to face JBL for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.

MICHAEL COLE: But who will Theodore Long choose, its between Big Show, Eddie Guerrero and The Undertaker. Both The Undertaker and Eddie Guerrero have faced JBL before-

TAZZ: Infact they’ve never beaten him!

MICHAEL COLE: Yeah, that’s right. But Big Show is a force not to be reckoned with.

TAZZ: I’ve been in the ring with the Big Show before and he is just amazing.

MICHAEL COLE: Well by the looks of things, it looks like Hogan is gonna open up the show for us!

TAZZ: What a treat!

HULK HOGAN IS BACK, BROTHA’S (& SISTA’S)

In the ring stands Hulk Hogan with a microphone as the crowd cheer wildly for their icon. He grabs a microphone from the side and then begins to speak as the crowd quieten down.

HULK HOGAN: Well- what can I say to all my Hulkamaniacs! I’m back, brotha’s and sista’s!

The crowd go wild.

HULK HOGAN: And despite what people have heard about Hulk Hogan never returning to the WWE, and going to form his own promotion I am back for good!

The crowd go wild once again.

HULK HOGAN: And this time it may very well be my last run in the WWE- and perhaps even in the wrestling business for good.

Crowd boo.

HULK HOGAN: But this time Hulkamaniacs I am going to do my best to make it right. And I want to give all you Hulkamaniacs what you want. And so by request of all my Hulkamaniacs I am here to say that I am entering the Royal Rumble on January 30th brotha’! Because just like everyone else I want that title shot at WrestleMania! And all my Hulkamaniacs know that I have been there many times before, kicking many people’s asses, and this year I want to try and become a seven time WWE Champion. So what I am gonna ask the other fourteen Smackdown superstars and the fifteen Raw superstars is this: What’cha gonna do when the former Royal Rumble winner, Hulk Hogan comes eliminating wildly on you! Brotha’!

Hogan drops the microphone in the middle of the ring and then exits as the crowd go wild.

Orlando Jordan vs. Val Venis

Val Venis made his Smackdown debut/return tonight against JBL’s protégée and Chief of Staff, Orlando Jordan. Venis got some heat from being on the other show for so long, but played the face role still. He nailed an early Money Shot on Orlando but OJ got his feet on the bottom rope. Venis took the control after this, not allowing OJ to get a move in sideways. He set OJ up for a nice backbreaker but down came The Basham Brothers who managed to distract Venis enough to allow OJ to get the quick roll up as the crowd booed loudly.

Afterwards Venis attacked the referee and spat in his face and left the ring seriously pissed off after his loss.

Pause.

SPIKE DUDLEY: Exactly too long to remember- you fat piece of-

BIG SHOW: You know what, I don’t like your tone- how about we settle his in the ring.

Big Show vs. Spike Dudley

Nothing more than a squash here as Big Show was still pretty pissed off from Spike Dudley running his mouth backstage just a minute ago. A funny spot happened right at the start as Show just held Spike’s head not allowing Spike anywhere near him and then nailed a massive clothesline almost sending Spike into orbit. A very slow paced “match” as Big Show only nailed two or three moves on Spike, yet each one was with authority. Despite the former Cruiserweight champion trying to nail a Dudley Dogg out of nowhere the Big Show soon finished him off with a Show Stopper and got the three count probably impressing Theodore Long even more.

ROYAL RUMBLE QUALIFYING MATCH

Akio vs. Paul London

Well, what do you expect from these two nowadays. They know how to deliver a good match, and they did it once again. Some really great spots, including Akio doing that amazing once-every-so-often dropkick where he lands on his feet which was superb. Some nice moves from London including a top rope leg drop which nearly had Akio pinned. A nice spot followed as Akio tried to drive the shoulder into London, but London sent him over onto the apron, and then Akio kicked him right in the face. Akio then flew over the ropes with a bulldog and got the pin to win the match, as well as a spot in the Royal Rumble Match on January 30th.

Afterwards London was shocked that Akio won the match and broke London’s hatrick and ruined his opportunity to be in the Royal Rumble. However Akio extended his hand and London shook in return to a great match to end their series together. The fans gave both men a mini-ovation after the match.

We cut to the back where we see our WWE Champion, John Bradshaw Layfield sitting in the back of his limousine looking happy.

JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD: Tonight couldn’t get any better as I have three challengers for my title at the Royal Rumble, all of whom are useless and I know I can beat. It doesn’t matter whether he picks Big Show or Eddie Guerrero or even The Undertaker. I am still going to win at the Rumble and continue my reign into its eighth month. Now many people seem to think that my reign is coming to its end. But now that we have the Cabinet nobody can stop me. We are now an unstoppable force, and one that is not to be reckoned with. Ever since Orlando Jordan joined my side it has been a hell of a ride. I have defeated The Undertaker twice in a row. I sent The Undertaker on his Last Ride back at No Mercy last year. I then went on to defeat that good for nothing, hillbilly, Booker T in a great Survivor Series Main Event. After that I defeated three other men- that’s right three other men- the amount of people who voted for John Kerry in this state. And so at the moment I am not afraid of anything, anybody or any match. I have been brought to hell and back, but whatever Theodore Long tries to do to take the title- my title- away from me it never seems to work. But come WrestleMania it will still be JBL’s name on the card.

The crowd boo.

JBL: See, you can hear the fans chanting my name now: JBL…. JBL….. JBL….. JBL!

The crowd are chanting “Shut Up” but JBL just smiles.

JBL: And they are happy that they will see JBL in the WrestleMania Main Event- and there is nothing that anybody can do about it. Because like I said- I am close on my way to becoming JBL- greatest WWE Champion. Ever.

The crowd boo once again.

The crowd boo as we cut away from the limousine with JBL laughing as he usually does.

I SHOULD BE THE NUMBER ONE CONTENDER

Eddie Guerrero’s music hits the ring and then Eddie Guerrero makes his way down to the ring without lowrider and he slides into the ring as the crowd go absoloutley wild. He grabs a microphone and begins to speak as the crowd cheer again.

EDDIE GUERRERO: Viva la raza!

The crowd cheer.

EDDIE GUERRERO: Hello everyone, esse. I just came down here to explain to everyone that it should be ME, Eddie Guerrero that gets the title shot at the Royal Rumble. And I want to tell you why-

However Eddie doesn’t get to finish his sentence as he is interrupted by Big Show’s music and then the 470 pounder makes his way down to the ring as the crowd cheer. He climbs into the ring and then grabs another microphone and he begins to speak as the crowd start an “Eddie” chant.

BIG SHOW: OK, I’m down with that Eddie. I know exactly what you’re gonna say- you want to face JBL because you were cheated out a victory. But you had your chance. Hell you’ve even had three chances. And you’ve mucked them all up. But what about me, the Big Show? I haven’t even had a shot at the title. And so that’s why I demand that I finally get a chance to beat JBL!

EDDIE GUERRERO: Ok esse, when was the last time you held a title?

BIG SHOW: When I defeated you for the United States title!

EDDIE GUERRERO: Oh, you want to get all technical now do ya, Show? When was the last time you defeated Brock Lesnar? Huh! The last time I remember you were breaking the room in half and then being dragged on a stretcher. So, I think that you have had many chances at the WWE title- and blew each and every single one of them. Which is why that we should give the title shot to Latino Heat! Woooooo!

Big Show steps forward, towering over Eddie.

EDDIE GUERRERO: Hey, you wanna back up a little. You’re kinda sending me BO signals here, esse. And that’s not cool.

Big Show backs up and then stares straight into Eddie’s eyes.

BIG SHOW: OK, I see how this is Eddie. But this isn’t for us to fight out. Because I know that when Theodore Long picks me to face JBL for the WWE title at the Royal Rumble, then we’ll see who’s making the jokes then, esse.

Eddie laughs.

EDDIE GUERRERO: By the time he picks you, he would have picked me, because that is what he is gonna do. And you know it, esse. Viva la-

Eddie gets cut off once again as we hear the music of our WWE Champion, John Bradshaw Layfield and he makes his way out to the ring in his limousine as the crowd boo. His Chief of Staff, Orlando Jordan opens the door for him and all eyes are on him as the crowd boo once again. JBL and OJ start to slowly make their way down to the ring as the crowd boo. However The Basham Brothers run into the ring and start to attack Big Show and Eddie Guerrero. OJ runs down and joins in, and then so does our champion. JBL nails the Clothesline From Hell on the Big Show and then gets a steel chair from the outside. However the lights go out and then we see a figure lower from the ceiling as the crowd look up in mystery. As the figure gets closer to the ring it is revealed as The Undertaker. JBL looks terrified as he stands in the middle of the ring. The lights go back up and then OJ receives a Big Boot from the Deadman, and then Taker sends Danny Basham over the top rope. He nails a chokeslam on Doug Basham and then sets our WWE Champion, JBL up for the Last Ride as the crowd go wild. However Orlando Jordan saves his manager and then pulls him out of the ring.

Big Show, Eddie Guerrero and The Undertaker stand in the middle of the ring in Union as JBL and The Cabinet members flee up the ramp in shock. The challengers are on top form tonight.

SUZUKIVS. CENA IS NEXT

We cut to the announce table where we see our hosts for the evening, Michael Cole and Tazz.

MICHAEL COLE: What an evening we have had so far ladies and gentlemen. And we still need to find out who our General Manager, Theodore Long will pick to be the number one contender for the WWE title at the Royal Rumble.

TAZZ: And coming up now we have John Cena, our United States Champion in action against Kenzo Suzuki.

MICHAEL COLE: The bronze warrior from Japan who has made a real impact since debuting on Smackdown last summer. This should be good.

TAZZ: I wouldn’t want to be the one in the ring against Suzuki as he has this sheer force and power and unorthodox style that is really hard to get a win over.

MICHAEL COLE: And tonight if he can win this non-title match then he could very well end up receiving a shot at the United States title in the near future.

TAZZ: Perhaps even at the Royal Rumble.

The camera zooms out from the announce table as the crowd cheer.

NON-TITLE MATCH

John Cena vs. Kenzo Suzuki

An average match here from these two, hyped quite heavily and the fans were quite into it. Kenzo Suzuki messed up on his entrance as he slipped on the stage. Cena almost did the same thing, but managed to style it out. Anyways, back to the match. Kenzo worked on the leg of Cena for the first part of the match but Cena fought back as the crowd booed and tried to support Cena. Cena went for an early FU, but his knee gave way and Kenzo picked up right where he left off as the crowd booed. He locked in a leg lock and tried to force Cena to submit, but Cena just got to the ropes as Kenzo was pissed. Cena got back to his feet and nailed the throwback out of nowhere. Cena then nailed the 5 Knuckle Shuffle on Kenzo and almost picked up the win. Jesus ran down and hit Cena with the chain as Suzuki distracted the referee. Kenzo then nailed his Iron Face Claw and picked up the win as the crowd booed.

Afterwards Kenzo quickly walked up the ramp celebrating his win with his tag team partner, Rene Dupree as the crowd booed. However Jesus and United States Champion, John Cena brawled in the ring with Cena getting the advantage after nailing the FU on Carlito Caribbean Cool’s protégée.

Winner: Kenzo Suzuki.

NOW THE FANS ARE INVOLVED TOO!

We cut back to the rign where we see our General Manager, Theodore Long standing in the centre of the ring with a microphone in hand as the crowd cheer wildly, as Long finally has an answer for them.

THEODORE LONG: Holla, holla, holla, playas! I hope you’re enjoying Theodore Long’s Smackdown as there is still more action to come with Hardcore Holly taking on Kurt Angle.

The crowd cheer, excited for that match.

THEODORE LONG: But now I have the answer to the question that you all want answered. Who shall be the number one contender for the WWE title and face John Bradshaw Layfield for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble?

The crowd cheer once more.

THEODORE LONG: Will it be the 470 pound, former two time WWE Champion, the Big Show (pop). Or will it be Latino Heat, former WWE Champion, Intercontinental Champion, European, Hardcore and WWE Tag Team Champion, Eddie Guerrero (pop). Or will it be the Deadman himself, a former four time WWE Champion, The Undertaker (HUGE pop).

The crowd are split and start chanting for all three superstars, but mainly Eddie Guerrero and The Undertaker.

THEODORE LONG: Well all three men impressed me last week. I was impressed by the longevity of Eddie Guerrero as he was forced to face Kurt Angle twice in one night, and then had to beat him in a two out of three falls match. I was impressed with the way how the Big Show managed to defeat Bill DeMott in such a quick time. But I was also impressed with the ruthlessness and barbaricness of how The Undertaker dismantled Rene Dupree. And so, I have decided to let all three have an opportunity at the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.

The crowd cheer again, not quite understanding what Theodore Long means.

THEODORE LONG: And that’s where you- the Smackdown fans come in. in a preview for an upcoming Smackdown Pay Per View in February- Tortured Tuesday we are gonna have some fan interactivity.

The crowd cheer.

THEODORE LONG: That’s right ladies and gentlemen- you will get to chose which superstar JBL faces for the WWE title at the Royal Rumble on January 30th. Will it be Big Show, Eddie Guerrero or The Undertaker? Cast your votes over on WWE.com from after Smackdown has finished! You truly will decide.

The crowd go wild.

THEODORE LONG: However, it is more than that. The winner of the poll will go on to get their shot against JBL, while the other two will be entered in the Royal Rumble Match. So potentially they get another shot at the title at WrestleMania. But the winner of the poll will NOT enter the Royal Rumble Match, so a win here is essential. So playas, the race is on! It’s up to the fans to decide which one of you they want to see face JBL for the title.

Theodore Long drops the microphone and then exits the ring as the crowd cheer wildly, excited by his announcement.

Hardcore Holly vs. Kurt Angle

A really good match to be honest as Holly managed to use his technical skills to match Kurt’s in this match. Kurt still got the early advantage thanks to his Olympic training. Holly outsmarted Kurt and managed to drag him right into a nice early T-Bone suplex for a two count. Holly then nailed that perfect Dropkick of his and sent Kurt to the outside. A hard Irish whip into the steel steps almost knocked the living daylights out of Angle. He got Angle back in the ring and then went for the Alabama Slam, but Angle went round the back and then nailed an awesome German Suplex which sent Holly inside out. Angle then nailed the Angler Slam, and got a two count as Holly got his foot on the bottom rope. Both men knocked each other down with a clothesline as they got back up and down ran Heidenreich. He just stayed on the outside and taunted Holly as he went for the Alabama Slam again. Holly let go of Angle and signalled for Heidenreich to get in the ring and face him like a man. However Heidenreich did nothing and Angle got back to his feet. Holly tried for a Perfect Dropkick, but Angle caught his leg and locked in the Ankle Lock. And with Heidenreich by ringside Holly almost submitted, but he then quickly rolled Angle up and got the pin as the crowd were absoloutley shocked.

Heidenreich couldn’t believe it and got in the ring, but missed with a clothesline. Holly then Dropkicked him over the ropes as the crowd went wild. Holly taunted in the middle of the ring as the crowd cheered, but Angle spun him round right into an Angle Slam. Angle left the ring happily, however Holly still left with the victory.

Raw Preview

January 17th 2005

ATLANTA, GEORGIA

Just thirteen days away from the Royal Rumble at the end of the month, and everyone from both rosters wants a spot in the match. Names such as Hulk Hogan and Akio have already joined with Hardcore Holly or Heidenreich, Big Show and/or Guerrero and/or The Undertaker to be decided at the actual event. But over on Raw, the Rumble vacancies remain relatively cacant. Especially that coveted spot, number 30. So, tonight we shall have a 15 Man Over The Top Rope Battle Royal to determine the number thirty entrant featuring some of Raw's top superstars including Evolution animal, Batista, the returning Mark Henry, Christian, The Hurricane, Randy Orton and the returning BILL GOLDBERG!

Now Goldberg has been number thirty in a Rumble Match in the past (just last year infact) and would have won it if it weren't for Brock Lesnar. But with Lesnar gone, it looks like if Goldberg could secure his spot in the Rumble tonight then he could headline WrestleMania.

However, superstars may also have to qualify for the Battle Royale as Eric Bischoff wants to ensure that he has the best Raw superstars in the Rumble possible to secure a Raw victory this year. Which is why the following three matches have been made: Maven will take on Intercontinental Champion, Shelton Benjamin, Rhyno will take on Muhammed Hassan and Eugene and Regal will go up against the World Tag Team Champions, La Resistance, with two spots in the Rumble available to the winners. But the titles will NOT be on the line however.

Also, will we see any other returns tonight, with rumoured WrestleMania returns of former WWE talent such as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Rock and Mick Foley all thrown into the hat anything could happen. And knowing Raw, it probably will do. So, watch Raw this week as it gets set for the Royal Rumble in just thirteen days time.

Expect matches to be made tonight for the Raw side of the Rumble, and will we decide on who will face new World Heavyweight Champion, Edge at the Rumble? Watch Raw on FOX this Monday night to find out.

Confirmed Matches:

Royal Rumble Qualifier: Maven vs. Shelton Benjamin

Royal Rumble Qualifier: Muhammed Hassan vs. Rhyno

Royal Rumble Qualifier: Eugene & Regal vs. La Resistance

15 Man Over The Top Rope Battle Royal: Batista, Bill Goldberg, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Christian, Kane, Mark Henry, Randy Orton, The Hurricane, Triple H, ???? ?????,  plus the four winners of earlier matches.

OPENING

Right after the usual pyrotechnics and the crowd shots we cut straight to the announce desk where we join our hosts for the evening, Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler to welcome us to Raw.

JIM ROSS: Welcome everyone to Monday Night Raw from Atlanta, Georgia where tonight we shall see the return of Bill Goldberg!

JERRY LAWLER: And this crowd cannot believe it.

JIM ROSS: Last year at the Royal Rumble Goldberg dominated and if it wasn’t for Brock Lesnar Goldberg could have left WrestleMania as the World Heavyweight Champion.

JERRY LAWLER: Well that’s arguable JR. But what’s this!

THE GREAT ONE WILL BE AT WRESTLEMANIA!

Out of nowhere The Rock’s music hits the arena and the crowd go absoloutley wild as the People’s Champion appears on stage and then makes his way down to the ring. He climbs into the ring and after taunting at all four turnbuckles he grabs a microphone and begins to speak as the crowd cheer wildly.

THE ROCK: FINALLY THE ROCK HAS COME BACK TO……… ATLANTA!

The crowd go wild again.

THE ROCK: And The Rock is just here to deny all the rumours and say that on April 2nd in Hollywood The Rock will be at WrestleMania!

The crowd give an even bigger reaction.

THE ROCK: Because, quite frankly, you know it, I know it; even the Popcorn Farting Coach knows it. WrestleMania would not be WrestleMania without The Rock. The most electrifying man in all of sports and thanks to Hollywood, in entertainment too.

The crowd cheer again.

THE ROCK: And I don’t care who it is, whether it needs to be Triple H, any member of Evolution or even some random jabroni like The Hurricane, The Rock wouldn’t miss WrestleMania for the world. Because WrestleMania cannot be the greatest spectacle in sports entertainment without the most electrifying man in the world: the eyebrow raising, loud mouthing, fat fighting, Rock bottoming, People’s champ, The Rock!

The crowd go wild once again.

THE ROCK: So, all I have to say to all you fans is this: I shall see you all at WrestleMania, because right now The Rock is gonna go home and watch the Battle Royal tonight and watch Goldberg defeat 14 other men, including that jabroni phoney, Triple H and then The Rock’s gonna pick a target for WrestleMania. So, if ya smell what The Rock is cookin’!

The Rock drops the microphone in the centre of the ring and then he leaves the ring with the crowd still going wild.

NON-TITLE MATCH

Maven vs. Shelton Benjamin

A shorter match than there one at New Year’s Revolution, as well as a more one-sided encounter. Some great escapes from the T-Bone from Maven, as he realised that if Shelton hit that move then it was pretty much over for the original Tough Enough winner. However Shelton used his feet to get the advantage sending Maven over the top rope with a Super Kick which nearly had Maven counted out. But Maven got back into the ring just before 9 and got out of another T-Bone attempt by Shelton. A few minutes later Maven went for that Halo DDT out of nowhere, but Shelton countered right into a T-Bone and got the pin as well as a place in the Royal Rumble Match on January 30th.

Shelton looked happy with his victory as he made his way up the ramp, while Maven looked pissed off.

Muhammad Hassan w/ Khosrow Daivari vs. Rhyno

A better match than their New Year’s Revolution encounter for the primary reason that Hassan knew what he was doing a lot better. He dodged the Gore on three occasions and then began working on the lower back of Rhyno with a nice backbreaker that got an early two count. He then nailed Rhyno with his own finisher, The Gore which almost got him pinned. Rhyno came back with a DDT, but Hassan went right back to the lower back with several shots right to the spine. He then lifted Rhyno up high and then sent him into the corner with shoulder thrusts as the crowd looked shocked and even scared. Hassan locked Rhyno in the bear hug and Rhyno was knocked out from the damage as the crowd looked stunned as Hassan enters the Rumble.

Referee’s and EMT’s made their way down to the ring to help Rhyno up as Hassan and Daivari looked happy at what they had done. However Hassan wasn’t too satisfied as he grabbed Rhyno’s stretcher away from the medical staff and drove it right off the stage!

ERIC BISCHOFF: Can I speak now?

RIC FLAIR: Yeah, but Bischoff it better be something good!

ERIC BISCHOFF: Look, I am really sorry about your loss last week, but it was a clean victory for Edge, and so I am not gonna do anything about the decision. And with the Rumble coming up, and the fact that you won’t be in it then I can’t really offer you a rematch against Edge- with the title on the line until post-WrestleMania. And then Edge probably won’t even be champion! But-

RIC FLAIR: Bull**** Bischoff! Bull****! You have already tried to screw me over back in WCW, let’s not do this **** again!

ERIC BISCHOFF: But- but, Flair. I am willing to give you a shot at a title which you have never won- the Intercontinental Championship. What do you say?

RIC FLAIR: You know what, I like that. Infact, I love that!

ERIC BISCHOFF: I though you would, but there is one condition!

RIC FLAIR: I don’t care what the condition is Bischoff I’m happy1 I am really happy.

Ric Flair begins to strut around Bischoff’s office and then leaves the office as the crowd cheer. Bischoff sighs and then begins to speak once again.

We cut backstage where we see our General Manager, Eric Bischoff once again standing by with a happy looking Christian and his two monster protégées, Tyson Tomko and Paul Burchill. They are all grinning just as they were earlier.

CHRISTIAN: So, what’s up boss?

ERIC BISCHOFF: I’ll tell you what’s up. The Rock just phoned me and said that he was seriously pissed off with what happened earlier on tonight, and says that he can’t wait to get his hands on Tyson Tomko and Paul Burchill, and more importantly, you, Christian!

Christian laughs.

CHRISTIAN: What, me? The Rock can’t scare me, I mean what’s he gonna do hit me with the last DVD copy of The Scorpion King?

ERIC BISCHOFF: Well let’s just see about that. Because The Rock is not here right now, but we both agreed that it’s time that Paul Burchill here have his first match on Raw. So next week he will go one on one with The Rock. But before then he is going to have his debut match right now, in that ring against Steven Richards!

Christian laughs once more.

CHRISTIAN: OK, let’s go, Paul. Bischoff, you couldn’t have made it easier for us could you?

ERIC BISCHOFF: Well, I don’t know where you’re going. I didn’t say that Burchill would have his two ***-lickers, Christian and Tomko by his side. I believe I said that I said that Burchill would face Steven Richards- alone. One on one.

Burchill nailed three devastatingly stiff powerbombs on Richards without even breaking a sweat and the crowd were astonished. Burchill drove Richards face first into the corner post, busting him wide open and then floored him with a massive TKO. Burchill lifted Richards right back up to his feet and into a Cyclone and then got the win as the crowd were more than pleased.

THE COACH: So, Kane. You are what some people would call a legend when it comes to the Royal Rumble. You hold the record for eliminating the most people in one match, however you have never won it, nor have you been the number thirty entrant. So, what does it mean to you to have a chance to be the number thirty entrant tonight?

KANE: I don’t care when the hell I enter the Rumble Match, because I am there to kick ***! And whether I enter at number one or number thirty this year I plan to win the Rumble and go on to Main Event my first ever WrestleMania!

THE COACH: But many people think that with Goldberg returning tonight-

KANE: I don’t give a **** about Goldberg. As far as I am concerned he has had his chances against me, and he has been World Heavyweight Champion before, just like I have-

THE COACH: But that was only for one night-

PARTICIPANTS: Batista, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Christian, Eugene, Goldberg, Kane, Mick Foley, Mark Henry, Muhammad Hassan, Randy Orton, Shelton Benjamin, The Hurricane, Triple H and William Regal.

Everyone looks around the ring at who is there, but then all decide to go for Goldberg. Goldberg is too strong and sends Eugene straight over the top rope to the floor below. Muhammad Hassan goes over next, and then he almost sends Triple H over the top, but Triple H holds onto the ropes. Everyone else goes to fight somebody else as Goldberg targets the Big Red Machine, Kane for his comments earlier on in the evening. The Hurricane tried to eliminate Triple H, but Triple H sent him over the top to the floor below. Goldberg sends Regal over onto the apron and then Triple H knocks him off with a clothesline.

Benoit nails a nice German Suplex on Benjamin, and then goes to nail one on Triple H, but Triple H counters and sends Chris Benoit over the top rope. Tyson Tomko and Paul Burchill try to distract Kane on the outside, but Christian walks right into a chokeslam right over the ropes onto his protégées.

The monster, Batista then floors Mark Henry with a HUGE clothesline, Henry gets right back up and tries to throw Batista over the top rope, but fails. Randy Orton then nails the RKO on Henry, and Jericho follows up with a LionSault. HHH tries to capitalise on this and tries to throw Jericho out, but Jericho holds on for his life. Goldberg then nails a HUGE spear on Foley and then tries to eliminate Jericho, but Jericho lands on the apron as the crowd cheer. Henry gets back up and charges at Jericho, but Jericho pulls the rope down and sends Henry over the top.

Orton went for the RKO on Triple H, but Triple H sent him over the top rope, landing on Henry. Foley got Mr. Socko out and put it first into Triple H’s mouth and then to Jericho, he went to do it to Goldberg, but got a Spear in return. Goldberg tried to throw Jericho out once more, but he held on. Benjamin then nailed the Super Kick which nearly sent Goldberg out. Kane grabbed Goldberg by the throat and tried to chokeslam him out the ring, but Goldberg landed on the apron and then tried to Jackhammer Kane out the ring, but Kane stopped him. Batista then tried to nail a Batista bomb on Benjamin, but he flipped out of it and came back with a Super Kick which almost sent the Evolution member out of the ring. Chris Jericho gets back to his feet and then gets thrown out by Mick Foley as the crowd go wild. Foley nails that running knee to Triple H as the crowd go wild. He then clotheslines Triple H out the ring, but Triple H pulls Foley over too. They begin to brawl on the outside, exchanging right hands as the crowd cheer.

Back in the ring we have our final four: Batista, Goldberg, Kane and Shelton Benjamin. Batista sends Benjamin over with a HUGE clothesline, and then receives a chokeslam from Kane. Goldberg sweeps Kane off his feet and then tosses him over the top rope. Goldberg then sets Batista up for the Spear, but Batista moves out of the way and sends Goldberg onto the apron. Goldberg ducks a clothesline and then nails a Spear to the back of Batista. He then nails a Jackhammer on Batista and then throws him out to win the match and the number thirty spot in the Royal Rumble for the second straight year.

Goldberg celebrates in the ring as Raw goes off air.

Winner: Goldberg.

Raw Feedback

Goldberg Very Happy

Goldberg was very happy with his return match, and wa every happy that he won the match, as he was expected to lose to Batista as agreed. But a last minute change by Triple H, allowed Goldberg to win the match. Goldberg is looking forward to the Royal Rumble.

Burchill Impresses McMahon

Vince McMahon was very impressed with Burchill's debut match and said that "he (Burchill) is like a British version of Lesnar, in good time he will get the push of his life." Other Raw Superstars including Chris Benoit, Triple H and Ric Flair congratulated Burchill on his debut. The Rock phoned Paul after the show and told him that he looks forward to working with him next week. Burchill was also very happy with the match.

The Rock's Return Details

The Rock's return will be a rather weird one, as he is currently working on Doom, but the schedule isn't heavy until after WrestleMania. The Rock will be on Raw for about 60% of the time until WrestleMania, and is also set to headline Backlash and the following Raw Pay Per View, Bad Blood in June. He is then sent to return full-time to the wrestling business around Survivor Series. The Rock said: "I am very happy to be able to finally say that I am able to work more dates, more matches and spend a lot more time with you (the WWE)." The Rock also wants a part in the second ECW Pay Per View, ECW Revolution. A deal hasn't been discussed yet.

Tyson Tomko Injury Update

Tyson Tomko should be ready to wrestle by the middle of February, and is likely to go into the proposed Rock/Christian plan, as well as have his own feud with Gene Snitsky leading into WrestleMania. More on this as it comes.

Mark Henry's Minor Injury

Mark Henry's shoulder was aggravated in last night's match, and is going to be in a non-wrestling role for a month while the injury fully heals.

Stone Cold Happy With Raw

Stone Cold was watching Raw backstage and greeting some friends. He is likely to debut before WrestleMania, though he has hinted that he would like some involvement in the Royal Rumble.

ECW Pay Per View in Jeapardy

Justin Credible, Raven, Steve Corino, Super Crazy and Tony Mamaluke have all refused contracts with the WWE. We are trying to agree new contracts with them.

WELCOME TO SMACKDOWN!

The usual pyro’s go off and then we get some crowd shots and then we cut to the announce table where we join our usual hosts, Michael Cole and Tazz.

TAZZ: Welcome again to Smackdown everyone!

MICHAEL COLE: I’m Michael Cole, joined as usual by Tazz!

TAZZ: We’re just ten days away from the Rumble, and I am psyched!

MICHAEL COLE: Well, so am I.

TAZZ: And we have too great matches for you tonight as Theodore Long has demanded that in a direct response to Raw General Manager, Eric Bischoff he too only wants Smackdown’s best to represent him, and Smackdown in the Royal Rumble.

MICHAEL COLE: And our first match is coming up soon.

NEVER FORGIVEN, NOT FORGOTTEN

We cut backstage where we see Paul London getting ready for his match. Billy Kidman walks by and the two staredown at one another. Kidman laughs and then walks away as the crowd boo.

A LITTLE CHANGE

We cut to the back where we see our General Manager, Theodore Long with a great huge smile on his face.

THEODORE LONG: Welcome to Smackdown everyone!

The crowd cheer.

THEODORE LONG: I just wanted to make a little announcement before our Royal Rumble contests begin. You see I want the winners of tonight’s two qualifying matches to be special. So the person who wins the match will get a later number in the Rumble, and the person who is pinned last will enter at a higher position. So, let's get this party started, Theodore Long style baby! Holla, holla, holla!

The camera zooms out as we cut back to the ring with the fans going wild.

ELIMINATION MATCH

Billy Kidman vs. Funaki vs. Paul London vs. Rey Mysterio

A lengthy Cruiserweight contest here, but some good spots nonetheless. Former Cruiserweight champion Funaki was looking a bit edgy out there tonight and wasn’t really with it tonight as he was a victim to a Dropsault in the early going. Rey was on top form out there tonight and was flying all over the ring. Kidman stayed pretty grounded at the beginning of the match which was good as he managed to get straight to work on Funaki. He managed to eliminate Funaki after a nice Shooting Star Press.

Kidman was on top form as he tried to eliminate London after he received a 619 from Mysterio, but London kicked out, and then Kidman was sent down to the mat with a springboard dropkick from Mysterio. Kidman blocked a 619 and then went for the BK Bomb, but Mysterio reversed and sent Kidman over the top rope. London then vaulted over the top rope and landed on Kidman. Mysterio then climbed to the top rope and flew off with a cross body on both men sending them down. He sent Kidman back into the ring and then he nailed a 619 on him, he went for the West Coast Hop, but Kidman moved out of the way and nailed the BK Bomb. Rey kicked out and then sent Kidman into London who nailed a Dropsault. London went up to the top rope and nailed the London Calling and pinned Kidman, eliminating him from the match.

Rey Mysterio and Paul London shook hands before they started their little contest, as they both realised that this match is just a friendly contest as they are both in the Rumble Match now. A few nice reversals from both men, but Mysterio soon hit the 619 and got the pin as the crowd went wild.

Afterwards our new Cruiserweight champion, Akio ran down to the ring, along with Billy Kidman and beat up Paul London. Mysterio tried to save, but was too late. Akio and Billy Kidman left with smiles on their faces as London was seen to by medical staff.

Winner: Rey Mysterio.

MAKING A REMATCH

We cut to the back where we see our General Manager, Theodore Long in his office not looking satisfied.

THEODORE LONG: That’s it playas, I have had enough. That was a great match, and it’s just jealousy, and I won’t have that, not on Theodore R. Long’s Smackdown.

The camera pans round to show that he is talking to Akio and Billy Kidman.

BILLY KIDMAN: So, what you gonna do about it, Long?

THEODORE LONG: I’ll tell you what, I am gonna make a little match for the Royal Rumble. It’s gonna be Paul London taking on Billy Kidman with a number one contenders shot for the Cruiserweight title on the line. Sound good?

Billy Kidman doesn’t look too impressed at first, but then smiles.

BILLY KIDMAN: Well, I am sure that when the time comes for me and Akio to face, I’ll show him who’s the greatest Cruiserweight on Smackdown. Come Akio.

Akio laughs at Theodore Long, but doesn’t understand what Kidman says as the two of them leave the office.

HELLO DUPREE…

We cut to the back where we see new Smackdown superstar, Val Venis standing by with Josh Matthews.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Val Venis, you have entered the Royal Rumble Match many times, but this time you have to qualify, how does it feel, especially being the new Smackdown superstar on the block?

VAL VENIS: Well, Josh, I have to say that it feels weird being involved in a match like this. But I can assure you that I want a place in this years Royal Rumble more than anyone back here.

JOSH MATTHEWS: So do you think that you could make it to the final two and enter the Rumble?

VAL VENIS: Final two? No, that’s not me. I plan to go all the way, just like in this years Royal Rumble. Because like the other 29 men who are gonna enter, I want to headline WrestleMania more than anything in the world.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Well, you have just recently transferred from Raw after a long losing streak, and on Smackdown there is some real tough competition, and you are in the ring with a few of Smackdown’s finest tonight-

VAL VENIS: Well, I realise that both Luther Reigns and Mark Jindrak are a lot tougher than me. But as for that punk Dupree, he doesn’t scare me. He goes around and tries to insult this country, America, the country which I of all people love so much. I mean, I had my first break over here. Even though I am Canadian by blood, my heart is, and shall always be in this great country, USA. And someone like Dupree just pisses me off. Which is why I am gonna make it my mission is to not only win the match, but to win the match by eliminating Rene Dupree. Because like I said, people like him make me sick.

Val Venis walks off and then we cut back to the ring.

ROYAL RUMBLE QUALIFIER

ELIMINATION MATCH

Luther Reigns vs. Mark Jindrak vs. Rene Dupree vs. Val Venis

A shorter match than the Cruiserweight opener, and a lot of powerful moves from Luther and Jindrak, and it seemed more like a Handicap Match as nobody wanted to get on the wrong side of Luther. Luther sent Dupree to the top rope after a back body drop and then began working on Venis, along with Jindrak. Jindrak tried several times for that Mark Of Excellence finisher of his, but Venis countered and then began with the punches to both men. Dupree got back in the ring and nailed the Bonsoir on Luther and almost got the pin. Venis and Dupree nailed a double suplex on Luther, but then Venis was victim to the Mark Of Excellence, but was too near the ropes and so escaped after putting his foot on the bottom rope. Dupree then tried to nail the Death Valley Driver on Luther, but he was too heavy and ended up getting a HUGE clothesline. With both men down Luther and Jindrak began fighting each other and Luther reversed the Mark Of Excellence right into the Shuicide. Venis Super Kicked Luther and then stole the pin for himself, eliminating Jindrak from the match.

Luther wasn’t happy with this and tried for the Shuicide on Venis, but Venis countered into a Northern Lights Suplex, and got a two count. Dupree flew off the top rope with a dropkick on Venis, and then received a HUGE clothesline from Luther. Luther quickly covered Dupree for a two count. A hard whip into the corner sent Dupree over and onto the apron. Luther tried to suplex him back in, but Dupree countered and sent Luther down on his face. Out of nowhere Venis flew off the top rope and nailed the Money Shot, but was too sore to make the cover, and so Dupree did it for him and stole the cover.

Dupree went straight over and covered Venis, but Venis kicked out. Dupree then set Venis up for the Death Valley Driver, but Venis climbed down and nailed a reverse DDT, and then locked in the Venis Fly Trap; however Dupree soon scrambled to the ropes as the crowd booed. With the referee’s back turned Dupree kicked Venis right into the groin and then rolled him up to get the cheap victory.

Afterwards Dupree celebrated up the ramp as Venis held his groin in pain.

Winner: Rene Dupree.

SOME WORDS FROM THE WARRIOR

A pre-taped promo was then shown. We see the Ultimate Warrior in wrestling attire, ready for his match against United States Champion, John Cena next. The fans give him a mixed reaction as he begins to speak.

ULTIMATE WARRIOR: Tonight the fans shall once again be entertained by the man who has no fear. A man who once entertained them and defeated Hulk Hogan. Tonight, the fans shall once again meet the Ultimate Warrior. But this is no ordinary Warrior, because the last time that Hulk Hogan and the old Ultimate Warrior met in the ring, back in a dark, cold place known as WCW, Hogan’s hand was raised as the victor. But never again, never again. I don’t care where it’s at, or when it is. But this time the Warrior is not going to leave without a victory. It’s time, its time, its Ultimate Warrior time!

The camera fades to black as we cut back to the real backstage.

NON-TITLE MATCH

John Cena vs. Ultimate Warrior

A short match here and it was a decent one, considering it featured the Warrior. He has obviously been down to the gym recently and learnt some new moves, and is a little faster in the ring which is always a good thing. Cena was sort of bewildered as he was facing his boyhood idol, and the Warrior did his usual spots in the match, and pretty much no sold everything that Cena did. Cena actually managed to FU the Warrior, but Warrior rolled out the ring and drew Cena over to the ropes and then snapped his throat across the ropes. After Warrior missed with a clothesline, Cena set him up for another FU, but Warrior’s legs hit the referee and knocked him out. When the referee was knocked out the Dudley Boyz made their faces known and delivered a thunderous 3D in the ring. Warrior then went up top, and for the first time in over fives years nailed the Splash and got the win.

Afterwards the Dudleyz and Warrior were beating down on John Cena, but Hogan ran down and made the save, forcing his old foe out of the ring. Cena and Hogan shook hands in the ring.

Winner: Ultimate Warrior.

ALL HELL HAS BROKEN LOOSE

When we return we cut backstage where we see that various wrestlers, referees and backstage staff are trying to separate a pissed of Hogan from attacking an angry Warrior. The two don’t look too happy and throw chairs at each other, but they miss and hit other members of the Smackdown roster, which causes a lock room brawl. Theodore Long enters the room and everyone goes quiet.

THEODORE LONG: SHUT THE HELL UP! And top all this nonsense! This is not how Smackdown was intended to be run! If you two can’t get along then we are gonna have to settle this in the ring! And so while I try to write up a contract for the dream rematch of all time, Warrior vs. Hogan II, I want to make a match for next week. You see the fans like Hogan, and they also like Cena. So next week on Smackdown, in the Main Event we shall see John Cena team with Hulk Hogan to take on one half of the Dudley Boyz, D-Von Dudley and the Ultimate Warrior. Now please, could we sort this out? Holla, holla, holla!

Long exits the room, and then a bunch of referee’s lead Hogan out of the locker room, and then the rest of the Smackdown superstars exit the ring, leaving just Warrior by himself. The camera fades to black as Warrior looks somewhat pleased with what just happened.

THE CHAMP HAS SOMETHING HE WANTS TO SAY

We then cut to the ring where the limousine is already out and our WWE Champion, John Bradshaw Layfield is making his way down the ramp along with his Chief of Staff, Orlando Jordan and their tag team partner for tonight, the Bronze Warrior, Kenzo Suzuki. He climbs into the ring and then he is given a microphone and begins to speak as the crowd boo.

JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD: Welcome to Smackdown ladies and gentlemen! JBL’s Smackdown to be precise. Now, I know that you are all looking forward to the return of your WWE Champion, a man who you can be proud of, JBL to the ring tonight after a one month hiatus, and I can’t wait either. But I’d just like to help you fans when the voting lines open next week after Smackdown. Hear my plea to who I want to face at the Royal Rumble. I would very much like to face the man who I have beaten on three occasions as I want to pin him for the third time in a row, giving me a hatrick of victories via pinfall over him. That’s right ladies and gentlemen; I want to face Eddie Guerrero at the Royal Rumble.

The crowd cheer.

JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD: You see, I think that I should be given an easy challenge leading into WrestleMania when I plan to Main Event against whoever else Theodore Long tries to throw at me. And so tonight, I want you fans to watch as I, John Bradshaw Layfield dismantle Eddie Guerrero in a matter of seconds and prove why I should face him at the Royal Rumble for the WWE Championship. You see, it isn’t always the best match that matters, and I am sure that Theodore Long knows all about the best matches, as he never gives me worthy opponents. It is about which match the champion would enjoy. And as the WWE Champion, your WWE Champion I plan on having a nice relaxing, tax free road to WrestleMania. And that starts tonight.

The crowd boo.

JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD: I love this; even you retarded fans here in Nebraska the classless city of America know what I’m talking about!

The crowd boo even louder, but JBL pretends not to hear.

JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD: See, you can hear them chanting in approval now. JBL! JBL! JBL! JBL! JBL! JBL! JBL! JBL! JBL! And by God, I like it.

The crowd boo this comment even louder and a HUGE “JBL Sucks!” chant fills the arena, which again JBL pretends not to hear.

JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD: So to quote a very famous classy American- “bring on the competition.” Or in the case of Smackdown, bring on the loser!

JBL drops the microphone and then his opponents begin to make their way down to the ring.

Overall Rating: 91.8%

Big Show, Eddie Guerrero & The Undertaker vs. John Bradshaw Layfield, Kenzo Suzuki & Orlando Jordan

A decent Main Event here featuring Smackdown’s three top stars taking on the WWE Champion, his protégée and the up and comer, Kenzo Suzuki. A few nice spots in the opening from Taker who punked out Orlando Jordan, and sent him to the outside after a clothesline. Kenzo then tried to battle the Deadman, but he was just too dominant, and managed to overpower Kenzo and busted him open after a couple of stiff punches to the face. Kenzo kept trying to fight back, but when the Big Show made his way into the ring he tagged out to OJ. OJ was then victim to a hard chop to the chest, and then a side slam for a two. When the champion eventually got in the ring he was on fire as he threw Eddie Guerrero over the tope rope, and Eddie landed on the announce table. JBL then nailed the Clothesline From Hell which sent Eddie over the barrier, but was then pounced on by the Big Show from behind. Show sent him into the steel steps, and then threw him back into the ring where he nailed a Show Stopper. And it was then when the jealousy began to sink in as The Undertaker wouldn’t allow Big Show to pick up the pin. Big Show tagged Taker in, and he nailed a nice DDT, but Big Show broke that pin up too. Eddie Guerrero got back up onto the apron and made the blind tag to The Undertaker and nailed the Three Amigos on JBL. He knocked everyone off the apron, and then nailed the Frog Splash on JBL and picked up the (overdue) victory for his “team”.

Afterwards it became evident that the three potential challengers were not on the same team as they began brawling with one another! JBL, OJ and Kenzo capitalised on this and nailed their signature manoeuvres on the opposition as the crowd booed.

Winners: Big Show, Eddie Guerrero & The Undertaker.

YOU’RE NOT WINNING THE WAR!
