WWF SmackDown!, April 14th 2001

Michael Cole and Tazz welcome you to SmackDown! as we start off with a potential Backlash preview in the ring...

D-Von Dudley (w/Bubba Ray Dudley) vs. X-Pac (w/Justin Credible & Albert)

Michael Cole informs us that, as X-Factor are the number one contenders to the Dudleyz' tag team titles, Bubba Ray and D-Von requested this singles match tonight. Fair enough.

D-Von calls for a test of strength, and X-Pac obliges, but breaks it up by kicking D-Von's leg out from under his leg. D-Von gets back to his feet and gets in X-Pac's face, but gets knocked back by a big slap to the face! D-Von retaliates with a flurry of right and left hands, though, sending X-Pac reeling back into the ropes! D-Von whips X-Pac across the ring and takes him over with a powerslam on the rebound, then hooks the leg..1....2...no, X-Pac kicks out.

D-Von pulls Pac to his feet and goes for a swinging neckbreaker, but X-Pac catches him round the neck and turns it into a front facelock, but D-Von counters that into a Gourdbuster, and both men are down.

Bubba Ray and Justin on the outside start pounding the apron trying to get the crowd behind their respective partners, but all it manages to elicit is an "X-Pac sucks!" chant.

Both men manage to get to their feet, and X-Pac strikes first with a right hand, then D-Von, then X-Pac, who then irish whips D-Von into the ropes, allowing Albert to trip him on the outside! Whilst the referee questions Albert, who is adamant that he didn't do anything, X-Pac spins around in a circle, mocking D-Von's "3D/Native American" taunt, only to get jumped from behind by Bubba Ray Dudley with a big clothesline!

D-Von and X-Pac both get back to their feet at around the same time, and D-Von runs at X-Pac looking for a flying forearm smash, but X-Pac scores with a drop toe-hold, sending D-Von face-first into the turnbuckle! As D-Von staggers back, X-Pac grabs a handful of tights for a roll-up! 1....2....3! X-Pac wins!

Winner: X-Pac

X-Pac rolls out of the ring and starts to run up the ramp, followed by his cohorts, as The Dudley Boyz look on scornfully from in the ring.

When he's reached the stage area, X-Pac produces a microphone from somewhere and starts to speak.

X-Pac: Remember this image, Dudley Boyz, the X-Factor standing tall whilst you're down and out, cos next time we meet, those tag team titles of yours will belong to me and my man Justin Credible!

Justin Credible takes the mic from X-Pac and continues the statement...

Justin: You might be one of the most decorated teams in WWF history, Dudleyz, but at Backlash, that means nothing, when you come face to face with the X-Factor and learn that while we may not be the most decorated team in this business, or the flashiest, we are Just Incredible, and that's more than enough to put you boys dowwwn.

Justin drops the mic, and all three members of X-Factor raise each other's arms as Bubba Ray hurls abuse from in the ring.

Once the Dudleyz and X-Factor have left, "Medal" hits and Kurt Angle makes his way to the ring to a chorus of boos from the capacity crowd, as Michael Cole and Tazz remind us that Kurt has been conspicuous by his absence lately.

Once Angle reaches the ring, he takes a microphone from Lilian Garcia and begisn to talk...

Kurt: Some of you will have noticed that your Olympic Hero hasn't wrestled in a while. Not since WrestleMania, in fact. Well, I was out nursing my wounds, taking a little time off to spend with my family, and no one from this company called me whilst I was away. No one phoned me up to say "Hey Kurt, how you doing?" or "Hey Kurt, when you coming back?"

Kurt's tone suddenly shifts from incredibly calm to quite aggressive...

Kurt: I'm the best damn athlete in World Wrestling Federation history! I'm the only Olympic gold medallist in WWF history! I'm an American hero! Yet no one gives a damn whether I'm even here or not? I haven't been asked to come in for a match, I'm not even booked at Backlash! Well, I'm sick of constantly being overlooked in this company in favour of muscleheads who wouldn't know a wrestling move if I walked right up and slapped it on 'em, so I'm issuing an open challenge right now! If there is anyone in the back who thinks they can take me on, I want them to come out right now!

After a few moments, as is traditional in these circumstances, fire erupts at the entranceway as Kane slowly makes his way to the ring.

Kurt Angle backs off as Kane approaches the ring, and is half-way out of the ring whilst Kane is stepping over the top rope, but then as Kane is ready to signal his pyro, Angle rushes him and takes him down with a chop-block to the back of the knees! The bell rings as Kurt is stomping away on Kane!

Kurt Angle vs. Kane

Kurt Angle continues stomping away on Kane, kicking at the ribs, mostly, and then steps back and starts angrily calling for the "Big Red Machine" to get to his feet. Kane sits up, and then pulls himself back to his feet, only to get hit with a running dropkick from Angle! Angle traps the arm and drives his knees into Kane's side a couple of times, then makes the cover. 1...2...no, Kane kicks out.

Angle hooks Kane up and scores with a suplex, then calls for him to get up, which Kane does, and Angle goes for another, but Kane fights out of it and hits a massive throat thrust, knocking Kurt to his knees. Kane hits a huge boot to the face, then hooks the leg. 1...2...no, Angle kicks out. Angle gets back up, slightly groggy, and just staggers into a side suplex, and Kane follows up with another cover. 1...2...no, Angle kicks out.

Kane pulls Kurt up into position for an over-the-shoulder powerslam, but Angle slides down his back and locks in a waistlock. He goes for a German Suplex, but Kane blocks it with a series of elbows to the side of the head! Kane grabs Angle around the neck, lifts him up and scores with a Chokeslam!

Kane staggers back, but before he can make a cover, Triple H rushes the ring with a sledgehammer and hits Kane in the back of the head with it! The referee has no choice but to award Kane the DQ victory!

Winner: Kane

Triple H stands over Kane's fallen body, stomping away and intermittently driving the sledgehammer into his chest as Michael Cole and Tazz speculate that Triple H is attempting to take Kane out to take him out of the equation for tonight's main event, which sees Kane's brother The Undertaker take on Triple H's Power Trip ally Mike Awesome. In a slightly comical moment, Kurt Angle joins Triple H in stomping on Kane, and Trippers just pushes him away without even looking at him. Angle starts stomping again and, again, Triple H pushes him away. This time, however, Kurt just goes off in a sulk into the corner.

Triple H pulls Kane to his feet, kicks him the gut and hits the Pedigree! Kane is well and truly out!

Maybe a little too late, The Undertaker sprints down to the ring to a big ovation, but by the time he gets there, Triple H has run off through the crowd. 'Taker goes to follow, but thinks better of it and instead tends to his fallen brother.

Kurt Angle decides he's going to make a name for himself, though, and hits The Undertaker with a shot to the kidneys, but it barely phases the Dead Man. Undertaker turns around, and Angle swings with another punch, but 'Taker blocks it, grabs Kurt by the neck and hits a Chokeslam to a huge ovation!

We go backstage, where Test is WALKING, presumably to the ring or something, who knows? Wherever his intended destination was is inconsequential, though, as Eddie Guerrero comes out of a locker room behind him and scores with a STEEL chair to the back of the head! Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn soon join their leader and assist in the beatdown of Test, who is left truly down and out, as Eddie shouts something in Spanish and Malenko and Saturn high-five.

Still backstage, and Haku is pulling his boots on in the locker room when Spike Dudley and referee Teddy Long run in and Spike scores with a roll-up!

Haku vs. Spike Dudley

Long counts 1...2..no, Haku kicks out! Spike hits Haku with a right hand, but that just angers the big Tongan, and he grabs the littlest Dudley and throws him into the side of a STEEL locker! Albert comes out of nowhere, though, and takes Haku out from behind with a big clothesline, then picks Spike Dudley up over his head and bodyslams him down HARD on the presumably concrete floor!

Albert goes for the cover on Haku, but he kicks out on two, and then Spike Dudley jumps onto Spike's back and locks in a sleeper hold! Haku grabs Spike by the hair, though, and flings the two of them into a wall! Albert smashes into the wall head-first and falls over backwards, squashing Spike Dudley under him!

Haku stomps away at both men until Albert makes his way back up to his feet, only to get hit with a low blow from behind by Spike! Albert goes back down, but Spike doesn't have time to celebrate as he gets caught in the Tongan Death Grip! Spike taps out straight away, and Haku leaves.

Winner: Haku

Spike Dudley and Albert continue brawling away backstage for a minute or so before road agents rush in to hold them apart, but it doesn't look like we've seen the end of this.

Back in the ring and William Regal's pompous entrance theme hits to a chorus of boos, as Regal comes down to the ring dressed for a match. He climbs into the ring, and then the Big Show's music hits, signalling the arrival of the giant. Once the two heels are in the ring, Chris Jericho's music hits and he and Chris Benoit make their way to the ring!

Commissioner William Regal & The Big Show vs. Chris Jericho & Chris Benoit

Big Show and Benoit start out in the ring, and Big Show tries to take advantage of his size with a bodyslam, but Benoit struggles out of it and hits a dropkick, knocking Show backwards. Benoit runs back and goes for a clothesline, but Show swats him away like a fly! Benoit runs at Show again, and ducks an attempted Big Boot, and knocks Show's other leg out from under him! With Big Show down, Benoit drops a series of elbows, then makes the tag to Chris Jericho.

Big Show is getting up as Jericho enters the ring, but gets knocked back down again with a springboard elbow! Jericho calls out to the crowd, but gets him with a shot to the kidneys from Show, bringing him to his knees! Big Show lifts Jericho up and hits a massive atomic drop, then runs the ropes and drops a huge leg across Jericho's neck, strongly turning the tide in his favour. Show makes the cover...1...2....no, Jericho kicks out, and Big Show tags in William Regal.

Regal runs off the ropes and drops a knee across Jericho's face, then makes the cover, driving his forearm into the side of Jericho's face as he does so. Jericho kicks out, but Regal goes for the cover again, but Jericho kicks out a second time. Regal pulls Jericho up by his hair, and hits a big European Uppercut, then hooks Jericho's arm around his neck and goes for the Regal Cutter, but Jericho slips out of it and hits a modified bulldog! Jericho springboards off the middle rope and goes for a Lionsault, but Regal gets his knees up, and Jericho lands stomach-first on them and falls backward.

Regal is first back up, and he makes the tag to Big Show, but Jericho tags in Benoit at the same time, yet the referee is convinced Benoit didn't make the tag and refuses to let him enter the ring, as Big Show drags Jericho into his corner to the sound of boos from the capacity crowd.

Big Show stomps away on Jericho then picks him up by the hair and goes for the Showstopper, but Jericho counters out of it and lands on his feet, then scores with an enziguri, and makes the cover! 1...2...no, Big Show kicks out! Jericho goes for a dropkick, but Show side-steps it and tags in William Regal, who goes to pick up Jericho, only to get tripped and locked in the Walls Of Jericho! Regal grabs the bottom rope, but Jericho pulls him back into the centre of the ring! Big Show runs in to break the hold, but Benoit runs in and clotheslines him out of the ring before he gets the chance, and Regal taps! Michael Cole jabbers on about how if Jericho can lock that in at Backlash we may well have seen the end of William Regal's reign as commissioner!

Winners: Chris Jericho & Chris Benoit

Vince McMahon is in his office backstage with Mike Awesome, when Shane McMahon walks in. Without a word, Shane drops a contract on Vince's desk and walks out. Vince picks it up, and the name "Mike Awesome" and the letters "WCW" are clearly visible. Vince looks to Awesome, and both look slightly worried. Apparently there are still some contract issues to be cleared out here...

Back in the ring, it's intergender tag time...

The Right To Censor (Steven Richards & Ivory) vs. Chyna & Billy Gunn

Ivory is protesting about something, but gets shut up by a forearm from Chyna, followed by a bodyslam. Chyna tags out to Billy Gunn, who whips Ivory into the turnbuckles, then whips Chyna in to follow up with a massive clothesline. Ivory staggers out, into a slap on the ass by Billy Gunn, causing Ivory to look incredibly shocked, which Michael Cole and Tazz find hilarious. Ivory goes to slap Billy, but he blocks it, only to get hit with a slap from the other hand. Ivory then tags in Steven Richards, who hits a big dropkick on Gunn, and goes for a cover. 1...2...no, Gunn throws him off.

Richards goes for a right hand, but Gunn counters it and fires back, then tags in Chyna. Richards backs off slightly, then goes for the Stevie Kick, but Chyna catches it, spins him round, and hits a Sleeper Drop! She makes the cover! 1....2......no, Ivory breaks it up! Chyna scoops Ivory up and hits a huge powerslam, and stomps away on her, when Richards comes from behind with a roll-up, and grabs a handful of tights! The referee doesn't see it! 1...2.....3! Steven Richards needed to cheat to beat Chyna!

Winners: The Right To Censor

The RTC run as fast as they can out of the ring, because Gunn and Chyna certainly aren't happy about losing this one!

Once Chyna and Gunn have left, some unfamiliar music hits, and Mike Awesome makes his way to the ring to a fairly negative response. Once he's entered the ring, "Rollin'" by Limp Bizkit hits and gets a great response, but The Undertaker only walks down to the ring, bereft of motorcyle, as Michael Cole and Tazz remind us of the ramifications of this match, wherein that if The Undertaker wins, he has a shot at Stone Cold Steve Austin's WWF Title at Backlash.

The Main Event:

Mike Awesome vs. The Undertaker

The Undertaker pounds away at Mike Awesome with big "soup-bone" (whatever that means) right hands, then whips him into the corner and charges in with a clothesline to follow up, but Awesome slides out of the way, sending Undi' crashing into the turnbuckles hard. As 'Taker staggers backwards, Awesome drops to his knees whilst clotheslining him, then hooks the leg. 1...2...no, Undertaker kicks out.

Awesome scoops 'Taker up and bodyslams him, then runs off the ropes and goes for a splash, but 'Taker gets out of the way. Undertaker runs the ropes and goes for a clothesline, which Awesome ducks, but Undertaker just picks up momentum and scores with a flying lariat on the rebound, to a decent pop from the crowd. Awesome gets back to his feet, and 'Taker grabs his arm and twists and wrenchs it a couple of times, then kicks Awesome in the gut and goes OLD SCHOOL~! rope walk to a great response, but Awesome pulls him off the top rope and catches him in a Spinebuster in mid-air! Great move! Cover....1.....2...no, Undertaker just kicks out.

Awesome pulls 'Taker to his knees and pulls him for a Powerbomb, but Undertaker backdrops him, and scores with a clothesline! Awesome staggers back up into a Chokeslam from The Undertaker! 'Taker drops down into the cover and the ref counts...1.....2......no, Mike Awesome kicks out, much to the shock of Undertaker, the announcers and the fans!

Undertaker runs off the ropes, looking for a leg drop or something, and Mike Awesome kips up!

The two big men stare each other down, then start exchanging punches. Awesome gets the advantage and whips Undertaker into the ropes and hits a Thrust Spinebuster, then slowly makes his way to the top rope. Awesome signals for, presumably, a Frog Splash, but Undertaker manages to pull down on the top rope, crotching Awesome.

Undertaker goes over to the corner and starts punching at Awesome whilst he's on the top rope, but Awesome punches back, then grabs Undertaker in a headscissors! The referee calls for the break, though, because Awesome's holding on to the top rope, so Awesome breaks it. But by now, his legs are on Undertaker's shoulders, meaning it's not too difficult for 'Taker to hoist him up, turn him around and plant him with the Last Ride out of the corner! The crowd pop huge as 'Taker drops to his knees and makes the cover, and the referee counts 1....2....3!

Winner: The Undertaker

Whilst The Undertaker is celebrating, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin walks out onto the stage, WWF Title over his shoulder, and just stares down at the ring as we fade out, with Cole and Tazz hyping Backlash...

WWF Heat April 17th 2001

Your hosts tonight are Michael Cole and Kevin Kelly, and we go highlight video to begin the show...

The first match of the night begins, and it's tag team time...

The APA vs. Lo Down (w/Tiger Ali Singh)

This is a rather fast-paced brawl, with Chaz and D'Lo just managing to hold their own against Bradshaw and Faarooq for most of the match. Lo Down have good chemistry, and a lot of potential, but the fans really aren't keen on the whole "Arab" gimmick, and who can blame them?

The finish comes when all four men end up in the ring, and Faarooq hits a double noggin-knocker on Lo Down, then throws Chaz into Tiger Ali Singh on the apron, knocking both men down, and giving the APA enough time to plant D'Lo with a Spike Powerbomb, as Bradshaw hooks the leg for the 3 count.

Winners: The APA

We go highlight video again...

Later in the show...

Back in the real world, and it's....

Tazz vs. Hardcore Holly

As expected, this is a stiff brawl, with the odd suplex, slam or chokehold thrown in. Michael Cole explains during this match that Tazz requested a match tonight instead of being on commentary so he could try and shake off some ring rust. Holly's in control for a lot of the match, though, due to the aforementioned ring rust of Tazz.

The finish comes when Hardcore Holly goes for a big body slam, and Tazz slips down his back over his shoulder and takes him down into the Tazzmission! Bob taps!

Winner: Tazz

Highlight video...

Back in the present day...

Val Venis vs. Billy Gunn

Apparently this match was set up following the intergender tag match on SmackDown! between the RTC and Chyna & Billy Gunn. The match is an energetic "WWF-style" brawl for the most part, with the odd bit of showboating and power wrestling courtesy of Billy and heel tactics and the odd technical hold from Venis.

Back-and-forth match throughout, the finish coming when Billy Gunn knocks Venis down with a clothesline, but gets distracted by Steven Richards, who jumps up on the ring apron, only to turn around into a big spinebuster, setting up for the Money Shot! That gets the 3 count.

Winner: Val Venis

Highlights..

Back in the ring, main event, and it's a TITLE MATCH~!

The Main Event

WWF Lightheavyweight Title Match

Crash Holly © vs. Essa Rios

A slight step down from Crash's last main event appearance, but he's wrestling a slightly longer match this time. Essa Rios appears to be playing the heel here, and so he's working a more grounded style than usual, which doesn't go over too well with the crowd, and probably hurts the match as a result. Note to WWF bookers: Let Essa fly, it's what he does best.

The finish comes as Essa goes for a springboard arm drag in the corner, but Crash blocks it, counters into a headlock and springboards off the middle rope with the Crash Course Bulldog, and hooks the leg for the 3 count!

Winner: Crash Holly

The show ends with Crash standing tall as Cole and Kelly hype RAW and Backlash...

WWF RAW, April 18th 2001

Jim Ross and Paul Heyman remind us that we're only days away from Backlash, and speculate that this is going to be one hell of a night, as "Rollin'" by Limp Bizkit hits, and The Undertaker is on his motorbike and on his way down to the ring.

'Taker reaches the ring, gets off his bike, climbs through the ropes, plays to the crowd and then finally gets on the mic...

Taker: Last Thursday night on SmackDown!, I sent some punk called Mike Awesome on his Last Ride, and earned myself a shot at Stone Cold Steve Austin this Sunday at Backlash. I proved once and for all that, no matter what Vince McMahon and his boys might say, The Undertaker is the most dominant force in the World Wrestling Federation. I've rolled over Triple H and Awesome, and at Backlash it'll be Austin's turn to step up to the plate and get knocked down by the biggest dog in the yard...

"No Chance In Hell" hits, and Vince McMahon walks out on to the stage, showered in boos by the capacity crowd.

Vince: Not so fast, Undertaker, not so fast. Yeah, you pinned Mike Awesome last week, so you've earned yourself a shot at Stone Cold's WWF Title at Backlash, but it's not that easy. You see, you will face Stone Cold Steve Austin at Backlash, but you will face him in...a Lumberjack Match!

Undertaker looks angered, but responds thusly...

Taker: I know you're trying to weasel your boy out of this match unharmed, but the fact is, Dead Man Inc. has been through hell and back, and I ain't about to back down from you, or anyone else, any time soon. You're on, Vince. You're on.

Vince looks slightly shocked by Undertaker's response...

Vince: Fine...the lumberjacks for Sunday will be picked this Thursday night on SmackDown!, and 'Taker, if you don't like it...you've got until Sunday to back down, and walk away from the match.

Taker: I've never walked away from a challenge in my life, Vince, and Backlash will be no different. I'm gonna lace up my boots and step in to my yard, and take everything you can throw at me, and I expect your boy Austin to do the same.

'Taker drops the mic as Vince looks on shocked...apparently he was expecting The Undertaker to back down.

Commercial break, and once 'Taker and Vince have left, it's match time...

Spike Dudley vs. Albert

This one's been brewing since last SmackDown, when both men got involved with the Hardcore Champion, Haku, but has a little more history behind it than that due to Albert's partners in X-Factor being the number one contenders for Spike's half-brothers, The Dudley Boyz' tag team titles.

Spike runs at Albert, but gets knocked down with a palm to the face. He runs in again, but just gets scooped up into a massive bodyslam. Albert hooks the leg...1....2...no, Spike kicks out. Albert pulls Spike up by the throat, and holds him in a lifting choke-hold, but Spike manages to bite the top of Albert's head, forcing him to let go! Spike scores with a running headbutt to the gut, and rolls up Albert! 1...2...no, he kicks out.

Spike dropkicks a kneeling Albert in the head, sending him falling backward into the turnbuckle. Spike then runs up and jumps up and down on Albert's chest to a great response from the crowd. Spike takes a moment to play to the crowd, allowing Albert to capitalise with a massive shove, sending Spike flying across the ring, and knocking down the referee in the process!

Albert pulls Spike to his feet and continues to manhandle him, just throwing him around the ring like a rag-doll, until Bubba Ray Dudley runs in! Bubba tackles Albert, then pulls him to his feet and throws him to the ropes...Bubba Ray hits a flapjack, and Spike jumps up and hits a bulldog as Albert's in mid-air! A modified 3D on Albert!

Spike quickly covers Albert as Bubba Ray slides out of the ring, and the referee counts 1....2....3!

Winner: Spike Dudley

Bubba Ray pulls Spike up onto his shoulders and parades him around the ring, celebrating, when X-Pac and Justin Credible rush the ring! The Dudleyz don't see it, as X-Pac comes from behind and hits a low blow on Bubba, sending him falling down to the mat! Spike manages to jump off his half-brother's shoulders to avoid behind squashed, only to get hit with a shot to the ribs from Justin Credible, who then grabs him in a full-nelson, allowing X-Pac to hit a series of martial arts kicks to Spike's chest. X-Pac pulls back, signals for Justin to let go, then grabs Spike by the hair and hits the X-Factor!

By now Albert has got to his feet, and is stomping away at Bubba Ray to stop him getting up, as all three members of The X-Factor stand tall over the fallen Dudleyz...but they don't notice as D-Von Dudley comes from behind with a table! X-Pac and Justin Credible turn around, and D-Von rams a folded up table into their ribs, doubling them both over! D-Von hits a Double DDT, taking both men out, then starts exchanging punches with Albert! D-Von manages to get the upper-hand, and whips Albert into the ropes, hitting a big Flapjack on the rebound, then helps his fallen brothers to their feet and leaves the ring with them, as X-Factor regain their bearings and don't look too happy.

More tag team-related shennanigans now...

The Hardy Boyz vs. Lo Down (w/Tiger Ali Singh)

Jeff Hardy and Chaz start out in the ring, and Jeff hits a sloppy front dropkick to start, followed by a quick suplex. Chaz manages to roll his way to his corner, clutching his back, and tag in D'Lo Brown. D'Lo takes over straight away with a FLYING CHOP FROM THE TOP ROPE~! MARK OUT~! D'Lo pulls Jeff up to his knees, but Jeff fights back with an elbow to the jaw, then kicks D'Lo's leg out from under his...leg...and tags out to Matt Hardy.

The Hardy Boyz whip D-Lo into the corner, Matt gets on all-fours, Jeff runs up and goes for Poetry In Motion, but Chaz runs in and spears him in mid-run, much to the disdain of the fans. Matt takes out Chaz, though, causing Lo Down to bail to the outside and talk tactics with Tiger Ali Singh. Matt rolls to the outside and starts stalking Lo Down, when Tiger Ali Singh comes from behind and hits Matt in the back! The referee didn't see that! Jeff runs the ropes, though, and manages to score with a plancha onto both members of Lo Down and Tiger Ali Singh!

Matt and Chaz end up back in the ring, and Matt grabs Chaz for the Twist Of Fate, but Chaz shoves him down and escapes, and Tiger Ali Singh jumps on to the apron. Singh tries to distract Matt, but Matt just dropkicks him off the apron, then turns into an attempted Northern Lights Suplex from Chaz, only to block it and counter into a Twist Of Fate! Cover! 1...2...3!

Winner: The Hardy Boyz

The Hardy Boyz get out of the ring and head to the back, leaving Lo Down and Tiger Ali Singh in the ring. Chaz and D'Lo start arguing with each other, and Tiger Ali Singh tries to break them up, but just gets shoved away by D'Lo. He tries again, only to get shoved away again, this time by Chaz. This prompts Tiger Ali to join in the argument, but Lo Down end up ganging up on him, but it's still unclear exactly what the argument's about as none have microphones. Eventually Chaz and D'Lo leave together, still arguing, leaving Tiger Ali Singh in the ring alone.

Backstage segment, and Commissioner William Regal needs to make an announcement. Nothing special here, Regal just announces that at Backlash we'll see Test face Eddie Guerrero for the European Title, as most of us had come to expect.

Back in the ring, and joy of joys, it's...

Chyna vs. Steven Richards

For those of you with short attention spans, this match was set-up by last week's intergender tag team match pitting Billy Gunn & Chyna against Steven Richards & Ivory. Some would argue that it's a good thing to see Chyna back in her element wrestling with the men, instead of in the dismal Women's division. I, however, would argue that's is sad to see a talent like Steven Richards getting wasted on this.

Chyna starts by grabbing Steven and hitting him with a flurry of forearms to the face, followed by a running clothesline. She grabs him by his tie and pulls him up to his feet, then grabs him for a bodyslam, but Richards hits some clubbing forearms across the back to escape, into an Inverted DDT! He hooks the leg...1....2...no, Chyna kicks out and Steven isn't overly happy, so he runs the ropes and goes for a big elbow, but Chyna dodges out of his way, and Richards falls down flat.

Richards pulls himself up, clutching his back, only to get caught with a kick to the gut...although possibly lower than that...from Chyna, then pulled in and put away with a Powerbomb! Chyna hooks the leg...1.....2...3!

Winner: Chyna

Whilst Chyna is celebrating, Steven Richards is having a total fit, going insane that he lost to Chyna. Eventually he rolls out of the ring and goes to the back, muttering away to himself, and shouting out at random fans on his way up the aisle.

Chyna grabs the Women's Title from ringside and holds it aloft, as JR and Paul Heyman speculate over what woman on the roster could possibly defeat a former Intercontinental Champion for the Women's Title...and at that precise moment, the Hardy Boyz music plays, and Lita makes her way out on to the stage, with a microphone! Cover your ears!

Lita: Hey, Chyna! I've been keeping an eye on you, coming out here and squashing every woman you face, and I wanna challenge you for that title. I'm not some blonde bimbo you can walk right over, Chyna, I'm the real deal, I'm extreme, and I know I can beat you for your title. What do you say? Lita vs. Chyna at Backlash?

Chyna nods, and signals for Lita to bring it on. Lita playfully waves her finger to say "no", and then mouths the word "Backlash", as JR and Paul Heyman try and hype it like it's something worth caring about.

Next match, and it's time for...

Test vs. Raven

Raven hits a right hand, but Test fires back with a right hand of his own and takes control, backing Raven into the corner and pummelling him with a series of lefts and rights, and the odd kick for good measure. Test whips Raven into the ropes and ducks down for a backdrop, but gets hit with a kick to the face, and then a tornado clothesline from Raven! Raven makes the cover....1...2....no, Test tosses him off (hee hee). Raven and Test get back to their feet and get into a slugfest, with Test coming out on top, and hitting a side suplex of sorts. Cover...1...2....no, Raven kicks out.

Test pulls Raven back to his feet and hooks him up for a powerbomb, but Raven fights out of it, and hits a knee to the midsection, then hooks him up for the Evenflow DDT, but spends too long showboating, as Test knees his way out of it and hooks Raven up and plants him with a Pumphandle Slam! Cover...1...2...3!

Winner: Test

Test is celebrating, when Eddie Guerrero comes from behind with the European Title belt and just knocks Test clean out! Eddie drives the belt into Test's face, screaming that he'll never get this close to it again. Generic pre-PPV Champion/Challenger beatdown ensues.

Backstage, and Kevin Kelly is stood by with Chris Jericho.

KK: I'm here with Chris Jericho and, Chris, this Sunday at Backlash you face Commissioner Regal and not only is your Intercontinental Title on the line, so is, potentially, your freedom as, if you win, William Regal will be removed from his position of power. This is an incredibly high stakes match-up, what are your thoughts?

Y2J: You're damn right it's a high stakes match-up, junior, but they're stakes I'm willing to fight for, because at Backlash, when all's said and done, Chris Jericho, Y2J, will still be the Intercontinental Champion, and the corrupt Regal Regime will be OVER. Big Willie Regal's had a problem with me since day one, and he knows the feeling's mutual, and it's going to feel real good to shut him up and send him packing once and for all at Backlash.

KK: But what if you lose? Then you'll no longer be the Intercontinental Champion, and Regal will still be the Commissioner, and you've gotta believe...

Y2J: What if, Kevin, what if? What if I lose? What if I win? What if William Regal wants to parade around the ring in women's underwear? There is no what if, junior, there's just the fact that there is no way that Regal can beat me. He couldn't get it done at WrestleMania, he won't be able to get it done at Backlash. The only difference this time, is that he'll be out of a job, and will never e-e-e-ver be the same, AGAIN!

Jericho walks away, to a moderate ovation for his cheap pop catchphrase at the end there.

Still backstage, and Steve Austin has just left his locker room, as JR and Heyman hype tonight's main event and question whether or not Austin will be a factor, when Kurt Angle walks up to him.

Austin: What in the hell are you doing here?

Angle: Well, Steve, you're facing The Undertaker at Backlash and, after last week, I'd say I've got good reason to pretty ticked off at that guy...

Austin stares blankly at Angle for a moment...

Angle: So...I was wondering if you wanted my help? I'll have your back, all you need to do is give the signal, Steve.

Austin: What the hell are you talking about, boy? I don't need your help, get your snivelling little Olympic ass out of my sight, I've got Steveweisers to drink.

Austin just laughs and walks off, leaving Angle looking visibly disappointed.

Back to the ring, main event time...

The Main Event:

The Brothers Of Destruction vs. Triple H & Mike Awesome

Triple H and Kane start out in the ring, and HHH scores with some patented unique knee-based offence, taking Kane down with a running knee lift, but he pops right back up, into a shoulder tackle, and ensuing choke-hold from Hunter. Trips breaks the hold before he gets disqualified, and makes the tag to Mike Awesome, then the two heels hit a double clothesline on Kane, and Awesome hooks the leg. 1....2...no, Kane kicks out.

Awesome pounds away on Kane, then whips him into the ropes and goes for a clothesline, but Kane ducks under his arm, bounces off the ropes and scores with an Undertaker-esque jumping lariat, knocking Awesome off his feet to a decent pop. Kane makes the tag to The Undertaker, who hits a Running DDT on Awesome, then hooks the leg. 1....2....no, Awesome gets his shoulder up.

Taker goes for a leg drop, but Awesome gets out of the way, and scores with a desperation back elbow before tagging in Triple H. As Triple H gets into the ring, though, 'Taker manages to make the tag to Kane, who comes off the top rope with a Flying Clothesline on Trippers! Kane signals for the Chokeslam, when Steve Austin runs down to the ring! Austin spins Kane round, kicks him in the stomach and hits the Stone Cold Stunner as Earl Hebner calls for the disqualification. The Undertaker comes after Austin, but he slides out of the ring to safety, hiding behind Triple H and Mike Awesome.

Winners: The Brothers Of Destruction

The Brothers Of Destruction stalk The Power Trip, but Kurt Angle comes from behind with a steel chair and knocks down Kane! Kurt goes to do the same to Undertaker, but he blocks it and throws the chair to one side! Kurt throws a punch instead, but it's blocked, and 'Taker grabs Angle by the neck and just flings him away, sending him flying into the Power Trip! Kurt knocks into all three members of The Power Trip, and Austin hits him with a Stunner! Undertaker then charges, knocking Awesome and Triple H down with a big double clothesline, but Austin flees through the crowd, and Undertaker gives chase!

Kane continues to brawl with Triple H and Mike Awesome, just about managing to hold his own for a while before the numbers start getting too much for him. Kurt Angle tries to join in, but Triple H pushes him away, until eventually he just sits down on the apron and watches the beatdown.

We go to parking lot camera, and we're following The Undertaker, and just get a glimpse of Stone Cold diving into Vince's limo and escaping, as The Undertaker curses.

And that's the end of the show!

Very good. I love your writing style, I can't wait for Smackdown. So far the Backlash card is looking great. I have mixed feelings on bringing Awesome in but we'll see how it plays out...by the way...GO LITA GO LITA GO LITA!

HAHAH! thats what Spike gets for challenging...KING HAKU! To a hardcore match. Anyways I hope the Duds will be facing X-Factor in a 6-man tag during backlash. Or maybe just the duds(no spike) vs Credible and Pac.

Oh goodness, poor angle. I sense he is just caught up with this Taker/Kane vs the Trip situation.

WWF SmackDown! April 21 2001

We open with Michael Cole and Tazz hyping up Backlash, which is only a couple of days away, and tonight's main event, where the WWF Champion Steve Austin will team with WWF Commissioner William Regal to face the team of Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho and number one contender to the WWF Title, The Undertaker! Cole also explains that there are no singles matches tonight, every match on the show is a tag or 6-man tag match, at the request of Stephanie McMahon, who apparently is trying to school The Power Trip in tag team wrestling so that they can dominate the tag team title scene as well as the main event scene...

In the ring, and there's a preliminary match to try and get us hyped up for Backlash, and Steven Richards has joined us on commentary...

Matt Hardy & Lita vs. Billy Gunn & Chyna (Mixed Tag Match)

Hardy and Gunn start out in the ring as Michael Cole reminds us that Lita and Chyna will meet at Backlash for the Women's Title, whilst Steven Richards insists that Chyna shouldn't even be the Women's Champion. Hardy strikes first with a forearm flurry, then hooks up Billy and hits a hard back suplex and hooks the leg. 1...2...no, Billy escapes. Billy gets back to his feet and gets hit with a big neckbreaker, but again kicks out of the ensuing cover. Billy and Matt end up throwing punches at one another, and Billy manages to get in control, and whips Matt into the ropes, then runs the opposite rope and goes for a clothesline, but Matt had the same idea and both men are knocked down.

Both men manage to crawl to their corners and tag in their female partners, and Chyna rushes into the ring, only to get hit with a flying bodyblock from the top rope from Lita! Cover! 1...2...no, Chyna quickly kicks out. Lita runs off the ropes and goes for a clothesline, but Chyna ducks it and hits a massive sidewalk slam, then tags in Billy Gunn.

It's mixed tag rules, though, so the men can't fight the women and vice-versa, meaning Matt Hardy is now the legal man. Hardy enters the ring, but gets hit with a huge shoulderblock from Billy Gunn! Gunn scoops Matt up and lifts him into position for a Jackhammer, but Matt pulls out an Ace Crusher to counter, and Cole calls it as the Twist Of Fate! Matt hooks the leg! 1....2.....3! Chyna couldn't break it up in time.

Winners: Matt Hardy & Lita

Chyna and Lita stare each other down, until eventually Chyna offers her hand and they shake...

Backstage segment, and Vince McMahon is looking at papers in his office when Mike Awesome enters.

Vince: Ah, Mike, just the man I was looking for, please, have a seat.

Awesome pulls up a chair and sits down as Vince puts his papers down and pulls up another piece of paper.

Vince: I was just perusing your old WCW contract, and it seems that Shane pre-empted me a little when I signed you. He's added a clause in there saying that if I sign you away, I'll have to give you a guaranteed WWF Title shot...

Awesome: Well, Mr. McMahon, that's great, right? Me and Steve, one-on-one, it'd be a hell of a match! We could make history!

Vince: I'm not paying you to make history, Mike, I'm paying you to make sure that the WWF Title stays where I can control it, and that's firmly around the waist of Stone Cold Steve Austin. So I'm going to give you your WWF Title shot, Mike, next week, and you know what you have to do, right?

Mike Awesome looks slightly conflicted as Michael Cole, Tazz and Steven Richards discuss what we just saw, skimming over the ludicrous contract stipulation that Awesome was guaranteed a shot at the opposition's World Title...

Back in the ring, it's more Backlash pre-empting tag team action, there's a lot of that tonight...

The Radicalz (Eddie Guerrero & Dean Malenko (w/Perry Saturn)) vs. Test & Steve Blackman (w/Grandmasta Sexay)

Before the bell rings, Sexay tries to make Test and Blackman dance with him (as Richards is appalled by the sexual nature of the Grandmasta's dancing, and his ring name), but is jumped from behind by Guerrero and Malenko and dumped over the top rope. Eddie and Test start brawling fiercely as the referee tries to gain some control, but can't quite manage it. Test gets the upper hand with a massive kick to the chest, doubling Eddie over, then whips him into the ropes, and Blackman follows up with a stiff martials art kick. Malenko starts firing away at Test, but gets thrown through the ropes to the outside and Test follows, meaning we're finally one-on-one in the ring.

Eddie gets knocked down with a combination of chops and punches to the chest, then caught with a stiff kick to the face as he's down on the mat. Meanwhile, on the outside, Test drives Dean Malenko head-first into the ringpost, then slams his back into the guardrail, before getting on the apron, whilst Saturn and Sexay hurl abuse at each other.

Blackman and Eddie are exchanging punches, and Eddie manages to block a big shuffling side kick, and trip Blackman up, then roll over into a bridging cover! 1...2....no, Blackman kicks out.

Eddie tags out to a somewhat groggy Dean Malenko, who manages to shake the cobwebs out and start hitting some vicious stomps on the midsection of Steve Blackman. Malenko locks in a modification of the Cobra Clutch, but Blackman soon breaks with some agility, countering into a modified jawbreaker. As Malenko staggers backwards, Blackman manages to make the tag to Test, who immediately runs in and flattens Malenko with a Big Boot! Eddie runs in to stop Test from making the cover, but Test uses Eddie's own momentum against him to counter into a Tilt-A-Whirl Powerbomb! Eddie is down and out, and Test covers Malenko! 1...2.......thr..no, Test stalled too long!

Test picks Malenko up and goes for a Powerbomb, but Eddie hits him with a low blow from behind, and Malenko falls on top of Test for the cover! 1....2.....no, Blackman breaks it up! Blackman and Malenko start brawling, as do Test and Eddie, and the babyfaces manage to get the upperhand, and whip The Radicalz into each other, sending Eddie falling backwards into the arms of Test and into a Pumphandle Slam! Eddie isn't the legal man, but the referee doesn't care, and counts the 1...2...3!

Winners: Test & Steve Blackman

The Radicalz leave, somewhat disgruntled, as Test and Blackman play to the crowd. Test is just climbing through the ropes, when Grandmasta Sexay calls him back into the ring. Sexay claims that thousands of fans here tonight want to see Test get down with the Grandmasta, so Test agrees, and we get an awkward dance segment with Test and Blackman looking very wooden trying to perform Sexay's ridiculous dance moves. Comedy~!

A bizarre segment now, as Michael Cole begins to hype the next tag match (Bizarre booking logic in place here tonight, but the fans seem to love it), pitting Lo Down against the APA, and Steven Richards refers to the APA as being nothing but "no-good, immoral morons, nothing more than street thugs", and Tazz takes offence, and the two start arguing across the announce booth. Michael Cole manages to calm the two down, and suggests that Steven Richards leave in order to avoid any further argument and, after some more arguing, Richards reluctantly gets up and leaves...

Anyway, it's match time. Tag team action. Again.

Lo Down (w/Tiger Ali Singh) vs. The APA

D'Lo and Faarooq start out, and Faarooq just flattens D'Lo with a shoulder block, then picks him up and hits him with a stiff-as-fuck spinebuster. Faarooq lifts D'Lo back up and goes for the Dominator, but D'Lo counters into an Inverted DDT and makes the cover! 1...2...no, Faarooq kicks out. D'Lo tags out to Chaz, and Lo Down hit a double running elbow drop on Faarooq, followed by a pinning maneuver from Chaz..1....2..no, Faarooq kicks out.

Faarooq takes a punch, but no-sells it and just KILLS Chaz with a massive thrust-spinebuster, then tags in Bradshaw, who plays to the crowd upon entering the ring. Chaz pulls himself to his feet and runs at Bradshaw, then goes for a crossbody, but Bradshaw catches him! D'Lo runs in to try and stop Bradshaw, but takes a big boot to the face, then Bradshaw throws Chaz half-way across the ring with a Fall Away Slam!

Chaz arcs his back and flops around on the mat in pain as Bradshaw slowly, methodically, drops to his knees, then into the cover. 1....2...no, Chaz kicks out. Bradshaw goes for an irish whip on Chaz, but Chaz counters and sends Bradshaw into the Lo Down corner, and tags in D'Lo, who hits a bulldog out of the turnbuckles and hooks the leg. 1..2...no, Bradshaw kicks out.

D'Lo pulls Bradshaw to his feet and goes for a backdrop, but Bradshaw elbows him in the mouth to escape, then runs the ropes and hits a big shoulder tackle, then raises his arm, calling for the Clothesline From Hell! Tiger Ali Singh jumps up to the apron and starts trying to attract Bradshaw's attention, and succeeds, as Bradshaw pulls on the top rope, causing Singh to flip over the top rope and into the ring! D'Lo brown runs at Bradshaw and goes for a flying forearm, but Bradshaw ducks and D'Lo knocks down Tiger Ali Singh! As D'Lo is stood looking shocked, Bradshaw runs the ropes and hits the Clothesline From Hell to a great pop! Cover! 1...2....3!

Winners: The APA

Once the APA have left, Chaz and Tiger Ali Singh get into an argument, apparently Chaz is blaming their recent losing streak on Singh. D'Lo joins in the argument, and it starts getting quite heated. Tiger Ali Singh slaps the taste out of D'Lo's mouth, but just gets caught with a flurry of punches! Singh is knocked silly as Chaz positions him on the top rope, and takes him out with a Superplex...and D'Lo with the Lo Down! Lo Down leave together, leaving Tiger Ali Singh out in the entre of the ring.

There's a fairly mixed reaction to this angle, though, as the fans still aren't really cheering for Lo Down.

Backstage, and Vince and Stephanie McMahon are stood in the locker room, in front of a crowd of midcard heels, including Big Show, Rikishi, Haku and Edge & Christian. A fairly generic segment with Vince "rallying the troops", telling them that they will be the "lumberjacks" for the WWF Title match this Sunday at Backlash.

Back in the ring...

Six-Man Tag Match:

The Dudley Boyz vs. X-Factor

D-Von and X-Pac start out, and D-Von hits a big bodyslam on Pac, then tags out to Spike, who jumps off the top rope and drives his feet into Pac's midsection. Cover...1...2...no, X-Pac kicks out, so Spike tags out to Bubba Ray Dudley.

Bubba runs the ropes and goes for a big elbow, but X-Pac escapes it and hits a spinning kick to the face! X-Pac tags out to Albert, who hits a massive clothesline on Bubba, and hooks the leg. 1...2...no, Bubba Ray gets the shoulder up.

Albert flings Bubba Ray into the X-Factor corner, allowing X-Pac to get an illegal choke hold in, and then pummels him down to the mat, before tagging in Justin Credible. Justin runs into the middle of the ring, then runs forward and goes for a sliding dropkick into Bubba Ray in the corner, but Bubba escapes and Justin collides groin-first with the post!

Bubba Ray tags in D-Von, who pulls Justin Credible out of the corner and goes for a big neckbreaker, but Justin counters into a backslide! 1....2....no, D-Von kicks out.

Justin Credible tags out to X-Pac, and they start pummelling away on D-Von, calling Spike and Bubba into the ring, but Albert rushes in and runs straight through Spike Dudley, then hits a huge forearm on Bubba, sending him over the top rope! Albert gorilla presses Spike and throws him over the top rope and on to Bubba Ray, then goes to the outside after them!

Whilst the referee is distracted with Albert and the other two Dudleyz, X-Pac pulls D-Von into the corner, and Justin Credible goes to the outside, grabs D-Von's legs and pulls him groin-first into the ringpost! X-Pac dropkicks D-Von in the face, then pulls him up and hits the X-Factor! Cover! 1...2....D-Von gets his foot on the ropes, but Justin swats it away...3!

Winners: X-Factor

X-Factor get out of dodge as Bubba Ray runs back into the ring to help his fallen "brother". The Dudleyz start heading to the back, when pyro erupts at the entrance-way and Kane makes an appearance. Kane makes his way down to the ring, takes a microphone from ringside, and gets into the ring.

Kane: The Power Trip think that they can stop the Brothers Of Destruction, just because they have Vince McMahon on their side. Well, the Brothers Of Destruction have a much greater power. My brother and I are down with the devil, and tonight, just like at Backlash, The Power Trip will find out just how dangerous that can be.

The crowd pop huge and Michael Cole goes into over-sell mode.

Kane: But Backlash is this Sunday...tonight...tonight is something different. Tonight, I want to talk about what happened on Monday Night on RAW, after our tag team match. Two men couldn't put me down to the mat, it took one more, and then, after the match, Triple H and Mike Awesome took it upon themselves to try and take me out. Well, tonight, I'm calling you out, Awesome, Triple H, if either of you have the balls to come down here to this ring and face me, I want you right now!

Kane's getting a great response as Michael Cole and Tazz debate whether or not this decision is wise. Mike Awesome's music then plays, and Kane looks visibly happy, even with the mask, but Mike Awesome is nowhere to be seen. Kurt Angle comes through the crowd, though, and jumps Kane from behind! Angle pounds away at Kane, then locks in the Anklelock! Kurt looks furious as he screams at Kane, but the Big Red Machine manages to pull himself up on one leg, and counters the Anklelock into a massive Enziguiri! Kane and Angle start brawling, and Kane gets the upper hand, forcing Angle back into the corner, then hits him with a huge throat thrust, sending him over the top rope to the concrete outside!

Kane follows Angle to the outside and throws him into the steel steps, busting him open, then starts stomping away, when Triple H jumps the guardrail and shoves Kane face-first into the ringpost! Kane staggers back, into KICK-WHAM-PEDIGREE~! Pedigree on the outside! Kane is out cold! Triple H just spits on Kane, then grabs the microphone.

HHH: You think you can handle this?! You think you're better than me? You think you're better than the Power Trip? They're strong words Kane, but I'll give you the chance to back them up. You want me? Then you've got me at Backlash, but it's your damned funeral!

Triple H drops the mic, and Kurt Angle picks it up...

Kurt: Cos he is that...darned...good! It's true, it's true!

Triple H just stares at Kurt for a moment, then shakes his head and walks off, with Angle trailing behind him. Eventually, Kane gets back to his feet and makes his way backstage, and then it's main event tag team time. I love tag matches, me.

The Main Event:

Stone Cold Steve Austin & Commissioner William Regal vs. Chris Jericho & The Undertaker

Regal and 'Taker start out, and 'Taker gets a bodyslam on Regal, followed up with a series of stomps. 'Taker pulls Regal to his feet, but gets caught with a thumb to the eye, allowing Regal to hit a European Uppercut, then go for a German Suiplex, but Undertaker reverses the waistlock and hits a big back suplex! Cover....1...2....no, Regal kicks out. Undertaker tags out to Chris Jericho.

Jericho goes to the top rope and hits Regal with a missile dropkick, then hooks the leg! 1...2...no. Jericho kicks away, hurling abuse at the Commissioner as he does so, only to get tripped up by the grounded "physical commissioner". Regal pulls Jericho to his feet and hits him with a scarily stiff released german suplex, then makes the tag to Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Austin starts throwing punches wildly at Jericho, but Jericho manages to block one, then knock Austin down with a dropkick, buying him enough time to tag in Undertaker.

Undertaker and Austin stare each other down, and the crowd start cheering wildly for 'Taker, and then erupt even more when they start throwing punches! 'Taker goes to whip Austin into the corner, but Earl Hebner gets in the way and gets squashed in the corner! Austin staggers out of the corner, into a Flying Lariat from 'Taker, who then raises his arm, calling for a Chokeslam.

Rikishi runs into the ring, though, and hits a big side kick, knocking 'Taker down! Chris Jericho and Rikishi start brawling, when Big Show comes down the aisle and flattens Jericho with a Chokeslam! 'Taker gets back to his feet and starts throwing punches at Big Show, but Show uses a knee to the stomach to turn the tides, then drops 'Taker with the Final Cut! Austin pulls Earl Hebner to his feet as Show and Rikishi leave the ring, and then waits for Undi' to get up, and kicks him in the gut....Stone Cold Stunner! Cover! 1...2...3! Austin wins!

Winners: Steve Austin & William Regal

Michael Cole and Tazz continue to hype up Backlash as Austin stands tall over the fallen Undertaker after what was, frankly, a bizarre show....

WWF Backlash 2001

Hit the pyro, and fly to the crowd shots, it's WWF Pay-per-view time, and we're live from Chicago, with Jim Ross and Paul E. Heyman at ringside!

JR: Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for joining us tonight, and welcome to WWF Backlash, live from the Allstates Arena in Chicago, Illinois! I'm Jim Ross, alongside Paul E. Heyman and, Paul, what a show this is looking to be tonight!

Heyman: That's right, JR! You know, last month I was excited to be at my first WrestleMania, but I'm just as excited for my first Backlash, 'cos I know that tonight is gonna be a historic, exciting and emotional night, and I for one cannot wait!

Latiiiiinooo Heeeaaattt! Eddie Guerrero's music hits, and the crowd erupt in boos as the European Champion makes his way down to the ring, flanked by Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko. The Radicalz climb into the ring, and Malenko calls for a mic. Luckily for everyone watching, though, Dean-o Machine-o passes it to Eddie.

Eddie: This is a travesty, holmes! At WrestleMania, I beat Test fair and square, and I gave him his rematch, and I won again. Test has done nothing to deserve a shot at my title again, esse! You comprendes, hombre? You don't deserve to grace the same ring as Latino Hea...

Eddie is interupted by Test's entrance music, to a decent pop from the crowd, and he runs down the aisle and under the bottom rope into the ring. Malenko and Saturn bail as the referee calls for the bell, and our first match is underway.

WWF European Title Match:

Eddie Guerrero © (w/Dean Malenko & Perry Saturn) vs. Test

Test runs at Guerrero, who swings for a clothesline, but Test ducks under it, bounces off the ropes on the other side of the ring and hits a clubbing forearm on the rebound! He shouts at Eddie and calls for him to get up, trying to get the crowd involved in the match and, to his credit, it's working well...for a Test match. Test walks over to Eddie, and stands over him, grabbing him by the hair to pull him to his feet, but Eddie kips up, into a headscissors hold on Test. Test grabs Eddie by the legs and tries to free himself, but Eddie flips Test over on to the mat with a headscissors takedown, and gets back to his feet, and takes a moment to berate the crowd.

Test gets up, but gets knocked right back down again by a big spinning kick to the jaw from Guerrero, who goes up to the top rope. Eddie yells out something in Spanish, and looks to Dean Malenko, who gives him the thumbs-up, and then jumps off the top rope looking for a flip senton, but Test rolls out of the way. Luckily for Eddie, though, he manages to roll through on to his knees and turn around to face Test...only to get knocked down with a big clothesline!

Test pulls Eddie to his feet, positions him over his shoulder, and slams him down on his back, then makes the cover. 1...2...no, Eddie Guerrero kicks out. Test pulls Eddie back to his feet, pulls him in between his legs, and lifts him up for a powerbomb, but Eddie backflips out of it and lands on his feet in front of Test! Test swings to punch Eddie, but Guerrero blocks it and punches Test...and again...and again...and again...then whips Test across the ring and hits a hip toss on the rebound, then moves to the apron. He grabs on to the top rope and hits a slingshot senton on the fallen Test, then makes the cover. 1...2....no, Test kicks out.

Eddie pulls Test back up to his feet and sets him up for a suplex, but Test gets his foot in the way to block it, then hooks Eddie up into a suplex of his own, turns him around in mid-air and slams him down on his back in front of him. Test makes the cover! 1....2....no, Eddie kicks out.

Test stomps away at Eddie, then pulls him up and backs him into the corner. Test goes to elbow Eddie in the side of the head, but he dodges out of the way, then springboards over Test and rolls him up! 1....2....Eddie manages to get a foot on the bottom rope...but Test still kicks out!

Eddie picks Test up and irish whips him, but Test reverses it and Eddie goes flying...into the referee! Ref Bump~!

Test knocks Eddie down and starts stomping away at him, when Dean Malenko slides into the ring and hits Test with a low blow! Test drops to his knees, and Perry Saturn slides into the ring and hits the Three-Handled Moss Covered Family Credenza! This gives Eddie the opening to climb up to the top rope, shake off the cobwebs, and hit Test with the Frog Splash!

Dean Malenko shakes the referee up a bit before leaving the ring, helping the ref come to, just in time to see Eddie Guerrero hooking the leg! He counts..1......2......3!

Winner and STILL WWF European Champion: Eddie Guerrero

Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn raise Guerrero's arm as his music plays and the crowd let them now that they aren't too happy, but as soon as Test starts coming round, they get the heck out of the ring.

JR: Dammit, Paul, Eddie Guerrero has retained the European Title and, Paul, I have to believe that if this was one-on-one, Test would be leaving Backlash tonight with that belt around his waist.

Heyman: But it doesn't matter how you go about getting it, a win's a win. When it's all said and done, the history books will show that Eddie Guerrero beat Test at Backlash 2001 to retain the European Title.

JR: Well that's as maybe, Paul, but Eddie Guerrero showing very little sportsmanship here tonight, needing to resort to a three-on-one beatdown to put Test away and, Paul, I don't think Eddie Guerrero can beat Test in a fair fight.

We go backstage, where The Undertaker and Kane are preparing in their locker room. There's a decent pop for them at the start of the segment...

Undertaker is shadow-boxing, and making sharp-intake-of-breath noises as he does so, whilst Kane is lacing up his boots behind him. Kane stands up, and puts his hand firmly on 'Taker's shoulder.

Kane: You ready?

Undertaker throws a couple more punches, then stops and turns to Kane.

Taker: I'm ready. But are you? You're not 100%, Kane, I know it, you think you can beat Triple H tonight?

Kane stares at 'Taker for a moment before replying.

Kane: I can, and I will. Just like you're gonna beat Steve Austin and walk out WWF Champion.

Undertaker pauses, then smiles.

Taker: Damn right.

Words don't really do that segment justice, it all seemed quite tense, intentionally so or not, I'm not sure.

JR: Well, Paul, it looks like the Brothers Of Destruction are gonna bring their A-game tonight!

Heyman: And they're gonna need to, JR, 'cos they're up against two of the biggest stars in the history of this company!

JR and Heyman are interupted by the Arabian music of Lo Down, which causes the crowd to erupt in boos, as Tiger Ali Singh makes his way down to the ring.

JR: Now..what the hell is he doing here? He's not booked in a match tonight!

Singh grabs the microphone from Howard Finkel at ringside and climbs into the ring.

Singh: Thursday night on SmackDown! was an outrage! My associates, my followers, D'Lo Brown and Chaz blamed me for their lack of success, and beat me down! Me! Tiger Ali Singh! In my country, I'm a respected nobleman, you're gonna pay for laying your filthy American hands on me, Lo Down!

Tiger Ali Singh's ranting is cut off by D'Lo Brown's old entrance music, and D'Lo makes his way to the ring to a fairly mixed reaction. It seems like the crowd still don't really care about him that much. D'Lo has a microphone, so it's safe to assume that he has something to say.

D'Lo: Singh, it's dead simple, so listen up. I'm sick of hearing boos every time our music hits, I'm sick of hearing the fans chant "USA!" at us. Here's news for you, people, me and Chaz are American! I'm fed up with all this Arab crap, so you can stick it, Tiger!

Singh: You're a capitalist pig, D'Lo! You're just like every American piece of trash in this arena, you want everything now, you've got no patience! With me by your side, D'Lo, you could have gone on to great things, but you were too stupid to see that, and you threw it all away!

The crowd are really starting to boo Tiger Ali Singh now, as D'Lo starts walking down to the ring.

D'Lo: I don't need you, Tiger, and neither does Chaz! Lo Down were on to big things before you took us "under your wing".

Singh: You were nothing before you met me, D'Lo! No one gave a damn about Lo Down, I showed you that you were under-rated, and tried to take you above what the WWF was handing you! Just like me, D'Lo, you'd been discriminated against for things beyond your control! My whole WWF career, I've been discriminated against just because of my ethnic origins! When was the last time you saw Tiger Ali Singh in a main event match?! And it's just because I'm...

At this point, D'Lo Brown climbs into the ring.

D'Lo: Shut the hell up, for God's sake! The reason your career's never gone anywhere isn't because of the colour of your skin or where you were born, face it, it's because you're just not that good.

Tiger Ali Singh swings to punch D'Lo Brown, dropping the microphone and making the lovely sound it makes when the mic gets dropped on the ring, but D'Lo blocks it and pummels Tiger Ali Singh with a flurry of punches, then grabs him under the arms and plants him with the Sky High!

Whilst Tiger Ali Singh rolls around the mat in agony, D'Lo climbs the turnbuckles and does his old arms-out head-shake taunt, to a relatively small cheer.

We cut to a video recap of the William Regal/Chris Jericho fued, and when we come back, Regal's music is playing and he's making his way down to the ring.

JR: Well, D'Lo Brown just laying out his former manager Tiger Ali Singh just moments ago and, Paul, I don't think we've seen the last of this.

Heyman: You heard what Tiger Ali Singh said, JR! He's a nobleman in his home country, he's a respected individual! D'Lo Brown could have just caused an international incident, and there's gonna be hell to pay!

JR: In any event, Paul, this next match is bound to be a slobberknocker. It's been building up ever since William Regal became the Commissioner of the WWF, and Chris Jericho took objection to his decisions. Now Vince McMahon has booked this match, where Chris Jericho's Intercontinental Title is on the line, and so is William Regal's Commissionership.

Heyman: But who would the Commissioner be if William Regal loses, JR?!

JR: Well, I guess that's something only Mr. McMahon can answer...

Before entering the ring, Regal stops to wave to a fan in the front row who's waving a British flag. Regal then enters the ring, wiping his feet on the ring apron before he does so, before Chris Jericho's elaborate entrance gets underway and he makes his way down to the ring to a huge ovation.

WWF Intercontinental Title Match:

ALSO, if William Regal loses, he is removed from his postion as Commissioner of the WWF

Chris Jericho © vs. William Regal

Jericho starts out with a flurry of punches, but Regal gets a referee-undetected thumb to the eye to turn the tides early on, then rocks Y2J with a European uppercut, followed by a knee to the ribs, and then a HOLY SHIT STIFF AS FUCK~! Butterfly Suplex, dropping Jericho straight on his head! It could be over all ready! Regal hooks the leg! 1...2...no, Jericho kicks out.

Regal pulls Jericho up by the hair, and positions him for a piledriver, then knees him in the face with his right leg, then left, but before he can hit the double knee-smash to complete his trademark move, Jericho trips him and gets him in position for the Walls Of Jericho, but Regal pulls him down and punches him in the head to break it.

Both men are back up, and Regal goes for a big left hand to Jericho, but he blocks it and scores with a kick to the head, knocking Regal back into the corner. Jericho throws a series of knife-edge chops to the chest of the "physical commissioner", bursting a few blood vessels, making Regal's chest bright red. Jericho hip-tosses Regal out of the corner, then makes the cover. 1...2...no, Regal gets the shoulder up.

Both men are back up to their feet, and Jericho goes for a big neckbreaker, but Regal counters into a sloppy DDT, then runs off the ropes and hits a knee drop across the bridge of the nose. Regal makes the cover, driving his forearm into the side of Jericho's face as he does so...1...2..., no Jericho kicks out. Regal covers again..1....2...no, Jericho kicks out, but he's being forced to exert more energy by doing so. Once more..1..2..no, Jericho kicks out.

Frustrated, William Regal goes to the outside and picks up the Intercontinental Title belt from ringside. He slides into the ring, and referee Jack Doan tries to grab the belt from Regal, but he pushes him away! Ref bump counter goes up to 2! The Commissioner swings to hit Y2J with the belt, but Jericho ducks it and takes Regal down with a bulldog! Jericho goes to the top rope, and starts calling for Regal to get up, presumably so he can go for a missile dropkick.

Regal starts to get to his feet, but the fan from ringside smashes Jericho across the back with the British flag! Security try to restrain him, but he shoves them all down, and starts pounding on the mat to try and get Regal to come round. We get a close-up of the fan's face...it's Davey Boy Smith! He's looking rough, but he's still a big guy.

As Jack Doan comes around, William Regal locks in the Regal Stretch on Chris Jericho, who taps out! William Regal is now the WWF Commissioner AND Intercontinental Champion!

Winner and NEW Intercontinental Champion, and STILL WWF Commissioner: William Regal

Davey Boy Smith enters the ring and raises Regal's hand, then hits Jericho with a couple of weak stomps.

JR: What in the hell is this?! William Regal picks up the win thanks to The British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith! I didn't even know Bulldog was here tonight!

Heyman: I don't think anyone did, JR! Anyone, that is, except for Commissioner Regal! I'm telling ya, the man's a genius, and our NEW Intercontinental Champion!

JR: But what's going on here? Why has Davey Boy Smith aligned himself with William Regal?

Heyman: Well, they're both British, right, JR?

JR: I think there might be a little bit more to it than that, Paul...in any event, our next match-up should be an interesting one, a Women's Title match pitting the dominant Champion, Chyna, against the upstart Lita.

Heyman: I gotta say, JR, I've got a feeling Lita's gonna walk away with the win here. She's got a style that's miles apart from anything Chyna's had to cope with before, and she's EXTREME!

JR: Whatever happens, Lita's got her work cut out for her tonight...

The Hardy Boyz' music plays, and Lita walks out to a fantastic ovation, playing to the crowd as she does so, as the camera shows us various "Lita is 2XTreme" signs in the crowd.

"Don't treat me like a man..."...Chyna then makes her way out to the ring, to a response about equal to Lita's, places the Women's Title down at ringside, and climbs through the ropes into the ring.

WWF Women's Title Match:

Chyna © vs. Lita

Chyna and Lita square off, and Chyna wins the test of strength, then irish whips Lita into the ropes. On the rebound, Chyna lifts her up into a Military Press, but Lita slides out of it down Chyna's back and dropkicks her in the back of the head! Chyna falls forward. Chyna runs at Lita, into an armdrag, and both women are back on their feet. Chyna runs at Lita again, and ducks a clothesline attempt, then hits a ChynaLine~! on the rebound! Cover...1...2...no, Lita kicks out.

Chyna picks Lita up and kicks her stiffly in the ribs, knocking her to her knees, then pulls her in for a powerbomb, as the announcers speculate that it might be all over for Lita, but she pulls out a Hurricanrana to counter! Cover! 1...2...no, Chyna gets her shoulder up.

Both women struggle back to their feet, and Lita goes to kick Chyna, but Chyna blocks it, only to get hit with an enziguiri! Cover! 1...2....no, Chyna kicks out. Chyna gets back to her feet, into a dropkick from Lita! Chyna pulls herself back in, and goes for a clothesline, but Lita ducks it and scores with a kick to the gut. Twist Of Fate! Chyna's out, and Lita goes up top.

On the top rope, Lita pulls off her shirt, much to the delight of the horny teenage male demographic, gives the suicide salute, then flies off with a Moonsault...on to the raised knees of Chyna! Lita staggers backward, clutching her stomach, and drops to her knees, giving Chyna enough of an opening to pick her up and plant her with a massive Powerbomb! Chyna makes the cover...1....2....3!

Winner and STILL WWF Women's Champion: Chyna

Chyna raises her arms in victory as Lita struggles to her feet. Lita uses the top rope to steady herself, then just stares into the eyes of Chyna. After a few tense moments, they shake hands, and Chyna raises Lita's arm to a decent ovation.

JR: A touching show of respect from Champion to challenger there...something I doubt we'll see repeated in our main event tonight.

Heyman: Hell will freeze over before Steve Austin shows The Undertaker any respect, JR!

Backstage, and Tazz is chatting away to a generic member of backstage staff when the staff member must see something out of the corner of his eye, because he does a double-take and then quickly gets out of shot. We find out what it was he saw, as Steven Richards comes into shot, flanked by Bull Buchanan and The Goodfather, and the crowd boo their little hearts out.

Richards: Well what have we here, gentlemen? The street thug, "The Human Wrecking Machine", Tazz, a man who prides himself on his seedy, despicable background and on intentionally injuring his opponents. A man who glamourises the life of a petty thug, a criminal...

Tazz: What do you want, Richards?

Richards: I'm here to offer you a proposition, Tazz. You see, I was willing to put up with you until now, but after your profanity-laced tirade against myself, your guest at the commentary position on Thursday, I don't believe that an indiviudal such as yourself has any place as the voice of SmackDown or Sunday Night Heat. The Right To Censor believe that the World Wrestling Federation shouldn't be promoting such...

Tazz: Shut the hell up, Richards! The WWF chose me to commentate 'cos I've been in the ring, and 'cos I'm a man of the people, so you let me commentate, and leave you to do whatever the hell it is you do.

Steven Richards just scowls at Tazz...

Richards: Fine, but you will regret the day you tried to stand up to the Right To Censor. Mark my words, Tazz, your time is soon. Come on gentlemen, let's go.

Richards turns and leaves, Bull Buchanan and The Goodfather following him out as he does so.

JR: What the heck was that all about?

Heyman: Well, it's no secret that Steven Richards and Tazz aren't the best of friends, we found that out on SmackDown!, but I don't think Richards realises quite what he's getting in to here, Tazz is a dangerous individual when he's pissed off.

JR: I know first-hand what Tazz is capable of and, to be honest, I'd love to see Old White-Socks get a dose of it.

Heyman: I second that.

It's Time To Play The Game! Green lights, Stephanie, posing and water-spitting, it's Triple H's entrance time! The Gamy one enters the ring as JR and Heyman chatter away...

Heyman: That, folks, is one of the most dominant forces in the World Wrestling Federation! One of the greatest competitors in the history of this sport, and a fine physical specimen, the "Cerebral Assassin", Triple H!

JR: I'll agree with you there, Paul, Triple H is a formidable adversary, but even he has his work cut out for him tonight, as he must walk through hellfire and brimstone, as he takes on the monster, Kane!

Heyman: But Kane isn't at 100%, JR, and Triple H has outsmarted him in the past, and say that he'll do the same here tonight!

PYRO~! Kane makes his way to the ring to a great response.

Kane enters the ring, and Triple H immediately backs off, as we hit the second dose of PYRO~!, and the match is underway.

Kane vs. Triple H (w/Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley)

Kane is on fire (no pun intended) from the bell, no-selling Triple H's attempts at brawling, and just pummelling him effortlessly into the corner with a long series of punches, elbows, forearms and throat thrusts, followed by a massive hip toss out of the corner!

Trippers gets back to his feet, into a big bodyslam from Kane! Triple H bails to the outside and talks strategy with Stephanie, but Kane rolls over the top rope to the outside and starts walking up to HHH. H-Man manages to intercept the Big Red Machine, though, hitting him with a big punch, then driving him face-first into the ringpost. Hunter enters the ring to break the referee's count, then slides back to the outside, as Kane is still shaking the cobwebs loose. Trips spears Kane into the side of the ring, then grabs him by the hair and pulls him over to the announce position.

Triple H goes to drive Kane's face into the Spanish announce table, but Kane blocks it, elbows Triple H in the side, then slams his face against the table! Hunter staggers backwards, clutching his nose, giving Kane the opening to scoop him up into a sidewalk slam position, and drop him on his back across the steel steps! Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley manages to convince the referee to demand that Kane gets back in the ring, so Kane rolls Triple H under the bottom rope, climbs over the top and hooks Trippers' leg. 1....2...no, Triple H kicks out.

Kane scoops Triple H up over his shoulder and hits a drop-down over-the-shoulder powerslam, and makes the cover. 1...2....no, Triple H kicks out.

Kane pulls Trippers back to his feet, whips him into the ropes, and ducks down for a back-body-drop, but Triple H kicks him in the shoulder to counter, then hits some unique knee-based offence in the form of a facebuster, and goes for the Pedigree, but Kane backdrops him out of it. Triple H is back up, staggers over, into a sideslam from Kane! Pin! 1...2....no, Triple H kicks out.

Kane goes to pick Triple H up, but he scores with a punch to the face to break it up, then whips him into the turnbuckles! Triple H runs in and squashes him with a clothesline afterwards, followed by a snapmare, then runs the ropes and hits some unique knee-based offence, in the form of a not-that-unique knee drop. Trippers then decides it would be a good idea to try and make the monster famous for not submitting...submit. So he locks in an INDIAN DEATHLOCK~!

Kane can be heard audibly grunting from the pain as the referee checks on him to see if he wants to give it up. Trips, of course, takes this opportunity to grab the middle rope (cos he's a HEEL. A dirty no-good HEEL), but Earl Hebner soon realises and starts the five count. Triple H refuses to break, so Earl Hebner hits the REFEREE MARTIAL ARTS KICK OF DOOM to break!

Kane's leg is hurting, so Triple H kicks it out from under his leg, then drops an elbow on it. Triple H continues to stomp away on Kane's leg, then turns to berate the crowd as Kane pulls himself back to his feet. Triple H turns around...into a big boot to the face! But that tweaked Kane's leg, and he drops to one knee...then struggles up, and up to the top rope, wincing in pain behind his mask as he does so...

Triple H gets back to his feet and turns around...into a Flying Clothesline from Kane! Kane rolls through as per usual, but collapses in agony, clutching his leg. That Indian Deathlock really did a number on him, huh?

Both men get to their feet at the same time, but Triple H scores with a running knee lift before Kane can do anything. He calls for Kane to get up, which he does, then locks him in an arm-wringer, into a hammerlock. Kane manages to power out, though, and hit a big clothesline. Kane extends his arm, flexing his fingers and adjusting his glove, signalling for the Chokeslam!

Kane grabs Triple H by the neck and lifts him up into the air, but Triple H gets a kick straight to the groin to counter! The referee admonishes Triple H, but doesn't disqualify him.

Outside the ring, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley grabs the Sledgehammer from behind the apron, and slides it under the bottom rope to her "husband". Trippers picks the hammer up, and the referee tries to take it away from him, but gets shoved to one side. Triple H swings the sledgehammer at Kane, but he ducks it, and Triple H turns around...to get Kane's hand clasped around his throat! This causes Triple H to drop the sledgehammer, and allows Kane to hit the Chokeslam! Pin! 1......2.......3!

Winner: Kane

Kane rolls out of the ring, happy in victory, as Triple H is livid in the centre of the ring! Stephanie tries to calm him down, but he doesn't listen. The referee walks over to try and tell him to leave the ring, and gets hit with a right-hand! Followed by a brutal Sledgehammer shot to the back! Poor Mike Chioda! Finally, satisfied that someone's been hit with a sledgehammer tonight, Triple H leaves.

JR: Good God almighty! What a despicable human being! Triple H lost the match to Kane, and took out his frustration's on Mike Chioda! What did he do?

Heyman: You might not agree with the methods, JR, but the message is clear. Triple H is in league with the boss, Mr. McMahon, which means he can do whatever the Hell he likes!

Yo, you dealing with the X-Factor... Purple lights, Uncle Kracker and homoerotic posing, it's X-Factor, everybody! All three men enter the ring and pose for a while, then Albert leaves the ring and we HIT THE PYRO~! for the Dudley Boyz entrance, to a great pop.

JR: This is a match that's been building for a long time, Paul, ever since X-Factor became Number 1 Contenders to the World Tag Team Titles, but they've made it more personal than that.

Heyman: And as much of a fan of X-Factor as I am, I have to question the logic of angering the Dudley Boyz...

Bubba Ray and Justin lock up, and the bell rings.

WWF Tag Team Title Match:

The Dudleyz Boyz © vs. X-Factor (w/Albert)

Bubba Ray shoves Justin down out of the lock-up, then scoops him up and drops him down with a big bodyslam. Justin gets back up to his feet, into a series of Bubba's trademark punches, followed by a hip toss. Bubba yells wordlessly to the crowd, then makes the cover. 1...2...no, Justin gets his shoulder up. Bubba Ray tags in D-Von Dudley, who goes up to the top rope and flies off with a diving shoulder-block, knocking Justin back down.

D-Von pulls Credible to his feet and whips him into the turnbuckles, then runs in for a clothesline to follow up, but Justin ducks out of the way and D-Von crashes sternum-first into the corner! Justin then squashes D-Von with a corner-splash, knocking him into a seating position in the corner.

Justin tags in X-Pac, who runs round in a circle, then into the corner and hits the Bronco Buster on D-Von, much to the crowd's disdain. Justin then grabs D-Von by the legs and pulls him out of the corner with almost a sit-down powerbomb variation. Justin rolls out of the ring, and X-Pac makes the cover. 1....2...no, Bubba comes in to break with a clubbing forearm across the back.

Bubba Ray and X-Pac start brawling, and Bubba manages to get the upperhand, and sets X-Pac up for a hard back suplex! But Pac flips out and lands on his feet behind Bubba...only to get caught from behind with a Lifting Inverted DDT from D-Von Dudley!

As Bubba Ray is leaving the ring, Justin tries to enter, but the referee stops him. With the distraction inadvertently caused by Credible, Bubba re-enters the ring and stands over X-Pac, holding his legs open as the crowd go nuts. D-Von goes up top, and X-Pac gets hit with the WHASSUP diving headbutt to the groin! As D-Von spins around like a madman, Bubba Ray gets a faraway look in his eyes, and the crowd's going mad! Bubba rears back, and shoves his "brother".

"D-VON! GET THE TABLES!"

The crowd go nuts, as D-Von goes to the outside and starts pulling a table out from under the ring...but gets attacked from behind by Albert! Albert grabs D-Von by the head and throws him side-first into the ring steps! Albert pulls D-Von back up to his feet and goes to slide him back into the ring, but D-Von elbows him in the side of the head and slams his face into the ring apron!

Meanwhile in the ring, Bubba Ray is fighting back both X-Pac and Justin Credible, whilst the referee desperately tries to restore some order!

Outside the ring, D-Von manages to outsmart Albert, as the big man goes for a Bicycle Kick, but D-Von dodges out of the way and Albert collides with the steps. Albert drops to his knees, and D-Von punches him over onto a table! Albert is out on the table!

Back in the ring, and X-Pac's returned to his corner, and Justin Credible has the upperhand against Bubba Ray, punching away at his head. Justin goes for an Irish whip, but Bubba Ray counters it and sends Justin into the ropes then staggers backwards. Justin comes flying back at Bubba Ray, who ducks down, back-body dropping Justin Credible over the top rope and onto Albert, through the table!

X-Pac rushes the ring, but straight into a sidewalk slam from Bubba Ray, as D-Von slides Justin back into the ring! Bubba hits a big neckbreaker on X-Pac, as Justin whips Justin Credible into the ropes. On the rebound...flapjack....3D! D-Von clotheslines X-Pac out of the ring as Bubba Ray covers Justin Credible! 1....2...3!

Winners and STILL WWF Tag Team Champions: The Dudley Boyz

Albert climbs into the ring, and starts throwing punches at both Dudley Boyz, but soon he succumbs to the numbers, and he too falls victim to the 3D! The Dudleyz leave with the crowd firmly behind them as X-Factor slowly come to in the ring.

JR: Good God, what a match! And through it all, The Dudley Boyz come out with their heads held high and their titles still firmly intact!

Heyman: That was amazing, JR, but we ain't seen nothing yet! If you thought that was an emotional title match, this is gonna blow you away...

Cue recap video detailing the history between The Power Trip and The Brothers Of Destruction...

We return to the ring, as the last of the lumberjacks are coming down to the ring. The lumberjacks for this match are Rikishi, The Big Show, Edge, Christian, Val Venis, Bull Buchanan, Hardcore Holly and Raven.

JR: You can feel the electricity in the air, Paul, this is going to be huge!

Glass Smashes! Steve Austin makes his way down to the ring to a mixed reaction, mostly boos, and poses around the ring, with many of the lumberjacks applauding him.

Dead...Man...Walking... A huge cheer resounds around the arena as "Rollin'" plays, and The Undertaker rides down to the ring, causing many of the lumberjacks to have to jump out of the way of his motorcycle as he rides around the ring, before finally climbing into the ring, raising his arms to the crowd, then turning to face Steve Austin.

Earl Hebner takes the WWF Title away from a reluctant Steve Austin, then holds it up to show everybody, as Howard Finkel explains that this is a WWF Title Match fought under lumberjack rules...

The Main Event:

Lumberjack Match for the WWF Title:

Steve Austin © vs. The Undertaker

Undertaker strikes Steve Austin, and forces him back into the corner with a big series of "soupbones", then tosses him out of the corner. Austin gets back to his feet, and gets squashed with a big clothesline from 'Taker. Cover...1...2.no, Austin kicks out quickly.

Undertaker drops an elbow, but misses, allowing Austin to capitalise with a few stomps as 'Taker pulls himself back to his feet. Austin whips 'Taker against the ropes, and locks in a sleeperhold on the rebound, bringing Undi' to his knees. 'Taker manages to fight out of it, but Austin just locks it back on, then turns it into a Sleeper Drop, and covers 'Taker. 1...2..no, Undertaker kicks out.

Austin grabs 'Taker by the hair and goes to throw him over the top rope, but 'Taker blocks it and pulls out an Inverted DDT, then hooks the leg. 1...2...no, Austin kicks out. Austin gets back to his feet, and both men start sluggishly exchanging punches, until The Undertaker gets the upperhand and whips Stone Cold into the ropes...and gets caught with a Lou Thesz Press on the rebound!

Austin picks 'Taker up off the floor, and throws him over the top rope! Bull Buchanan and Val Venis start putting the boots to The Undertaker, but 'Taker manages to fight them both off, only to get attacked from behind by Rikishi! Rikishi and the two RTC members repeatedly punch away at 'Taker, but he manages to get back to his feet and boot Val Venis away, then elbow Rikishi in the side of the head, and throw Bull Buchanan into the ringpost! Raven runs over, but straight into a big boot, and 'Taker re-enters the ring.

Undertaker gets back into the ring, straight into a big right hand from Austin. 'Taker punches back, but Austin manages to get the upperhand, forcing 'Taker back into the corner. Austin climbs up the turnbuckles and starts punching down on Undertaker's head. 1...2.....3....4....5....6....7...and Undertaker blocks the next punch! He manages to clasp his hand around Stone Cold's throat, then Chokeslam him from the top rope! Undertaker hooks the leg! 1....2.....thr..no! Big Show drags Undertaker out of the ring!

'Taker and Big Show start fighting on the outside, and Hardcore Holly comes over to assist, as Edge & Christian can be seen pulling steel chairs from under the ring! Holly holds Undertaker in position as E & C set their chairs up and swing for a Conchairto, but 'Taker dodges and the chairs collide with Hardcore Holly's skull! Holly drops down like he's been shot, and Undertaker boots a steel chair into Christian's face! Edge swings for 'Taker, but he ducks that, and clotheslines Edge down, causing him to drop the chair! Big Show clubs 'Taker from behind, though, and slams his back into the ringpost, and Taker goes down like a sack of bricks!

Big Show drags Undertaker over to the announce table and grabs him around the neck, and lifts him up for a Chokeslam, but 'Taker grabs him by the head in mid-air and pulls out a DDT through the announce table to counter! Big Show is out! Undi' drops down too, though, exhausted.

Steve Austin, who's just been taking a breather in the ring, slides to the outside. Raven goes to attack Austin, but just gets tossed aside, and Austin pulls The Undertaker to his feet, then rolls him under the bottom rope and into the ring. Austin stomps away at 'Taker, then hooks the leg. 1...2....no, Undertaker kicks out!

Austin is frustrated, and goes to the outside and takes out his frustrations on Raven, hitting him with a Stunner! Val Venis is next up, also getting hit with a Stunner!

Kurt Angle then runs down the aisle, steel chair in hand, and just hands it to Austin! Austin thanks Kurt, then smashes the steel chair across Bull Buchanan's head! Austin seems to be taking far too much pleasure from beating up the lumberjacks, as he misses Undertaker getting back to his feet in the ring. 'Taker runs the ropes, then dives over the top rope and lands on top of Austin and Angle!

Undertaker throws Austin back into the ring, but gets a clubbing forearm across the back from Angle, who then lifts him up for an Angle Slam, but Undertaker escapes it and throws Angle into the ring too! Angle and Austin get to their feet at the same time, and Angle turns to shake hands with Stone Cold....KICK WHAM STUNNER~! Angle bounces backwards, into the waiting arms of The Undertaker, who hits him with a Chokeslam!

Austin runs to clothesline Undertaker, but he ducks it, and scores with a kick to the gut, then clasps his hand around Austin's neck and lifts him up for another Chokeslam, but Austin pulls out a low blow! 'Taker drops down, clutching his groin, allowing Stone Cold to hit the Stunner! Austin hooks the leg! 1...2....3!

Winner and STILL WWF Champion: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin

JR: Good God, after a brutal match, with all the odds stacked against him, The Undertaker came seconds away from becoming the WWF Champion! It took interference, weapons and a low blow to put the dead man away!

Heyman: But when all is said and done, JR, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is still WWF Champion! And I, personally, can't wait to be on RAW tomorrow night to see the aftermath of this match!

JR: Me neither, Paul! Good night ladies and gentlemen, thank you for joining us! I've been Jim Ross, alongside Paul E. Heyman, and we'll see you tomorrow night on RAW!

The show ends with Austin walking up the aisle, WWF Title held aloft.

WWF RAW April 25th 2001

RAW opens with Jim Ross and Paul E. Heyman (They've added the "E" back in! Mark-out!) discussing the potential ramifications of last night's Backlash PPV.

"No Chance In Hell" plays, and the crowd are none too pleased as Vince McMahon leads Steve Austin, Triple H and Mike Awesome down to the ring. Vince takes the mic and begins to speak.

Vince: The Undertaker learned a lesson tonight, as did every single one of you. That lesson is that you never mess with Vincent Kennedy McMahon, because I will come out on top. Just like I beat WCW, just like I beat the federal government, and just like Stone Cold Steve Austin beat The Rock at WrestleMania, Stone Cold Steve Austin beat the Undertaker last night and is still YOUR World Wrestling Federation Champion!

Vince smirks as the fans start chanting "asshole" at him, and he hands the microphone to Triple H.

HHH: Last night, I'll admit it, I lost to Kane. On that night, he was able to defeat me, but only because my mind wasn't on the game. You see, last night, Stephanie and I went out for a meal before the show, and I think I might have got myself a spot of food poisoning, and...

There's an audible "bullshit" chant, which really angers Triple H, so Vince takes the mic off him and hands it to Austin.

Austin: I proved last night what I already knew. That no matter how high the odds are stacked, Austin 3:16 is still the man in the WWF, and still the WWF Champion. And I'll prove it again tonight, against any sonofabitch who wants a piece of me!

The crowd pop, and there are scattered chants of "Rocky", "'Taker", "Kane" and even "Angle".

It isn't the music of The Rock, The Undertaker, Kane or Kurt Angle that plays, though. Instead, it's the sound of ravens...the entrance music of Raven himself, who walks out on to the stage, to a confused reaction from the crowd and the announcers. And, when the camera pans back to him, we see Austin is equally bemused.

Austin: What in the hell? Who the hell are you, you little hairy bastard?! Did you just crawl in from the street or something? You sure you want a grade-A Stone Cold ass-whooping?

Raven has a microphone, excellent.

Raven: Steve Austin, do you hear the resentment resounding from the fans in this arena? Did you hear that sound last night at Backlash?

Austin: So a few meely-mouthed fans are jealous of old Stone Cold, what's your point?

Raven: Greed is a fickle mistress, Austin, and she lead you away from what I once believed was your true path, and into the arms of corporate corruption. And all this time I have laid dormant, but the Stunner you gave me at Backlash last night, that awakened the fallen angel inside me, Steve.

Austin: What in the Hell are you blathering on about, boy? You want a shot at me?

Raven: I want a shot at your WWF Title. After tonight, no longer will I ask the question "What about Raven?", for after tonight, the time of Raven shall be upon us. Quote the Raven...nevermore.

Raven walks to the back to a great crowd response...I guess he just turned face.

Once the Power Trip have deserted the ring, we're into our first match:

Hardcore Holly vs. Christian (w/Edge)

The crowd aren't really into this match, which is understandable, as both competitors are heels. A short recap is played of the Lumberjack match, detailing Edge & Christian's unintentional Conchairto on Hardcore Holly, explaining why this match is taking place.

Christian gets a kick to the midsection, followed by a snapmare, then into a chinlock. He drives his knees into Holly's back, then hits a flipping neckbreaker and makes the cover. 1....2....no, Holly kicks out. Christian goes for a hip toss, but Holly blocks it with a stiff shot to the midsection, then hits a big DDT. Holly then waits for Christian to get to his feet and levels him with a huge running forearm, then covers him. 1...2..no, Christian gets the shoulder up.

Holly pulls Christian to his feet and goes for a clothesline, but Christian ducks it, scores with a shot to the ribs, and sets him up...Unprettier! Cover! 1...2...3!

Winner: Christian

The crowd are almost dead tonight, and that match didn't really help at all. Hopefully the next will be better, as Tazz makes his way to the ring, with JR and Paul E. Heyman hyping up the fact that it's a rare in-ring appearance from a man who's spending more and more time behind the announce table these days. Once Tazz is in the ring, sirens blare and Steven Richards makes his way out to the ring, flanked by the rest of Right To Censor, to a hail of boos.

Tazz vs. Steven Richards (w/Right To Censor)

Richards hurls abuse at Tazz, accusing him of being a negative influence and whatnot, so Tazz grabs him by the tie, pulls him into a knee to the gut, then takes him over with a Butterfly Suplex! Richards hits hard, and pulls himself back to his feet, and Tazz signals for him to come get some more. Steven runs at Tazz and swings for a clothesline, but Tazz counters into a Fujiwara armbar takedown, then moves round and sits across Richards' back, pulling the arm upwards, and Steven is heard audibly screaming, until he gets to the bottom rope and is forced to break the hold.

Tazz pulls the RTC leader up to his feet, then hits him with a stiff back suplex and hooks the leg. 1...2...no, Steven kicks out, as JR and Paul Heyman discuss how he's tougher than you'd think...Tazz locks in the Tazzmission, but Val Venis jumps up on the apron, causing Tazz to break it to punch him down. Ivory tries to distract Tazz, but he brushes her off and turns around...into a dropkick from Steven! He hooks the leg! 1....2...no, Tazz kicks out.

Richards picks Tazz up and hits a powerslam, then goes up to the middle rope. He calls for something, but Tazz is up and hits him in the back with a clothesline, then brings him down with a gutbuster. Tazz starts kicking and punching away at Steven whilst he's on the floor, and the referee tries to break it up, but just gets shoved away. The Goodfather manages to stop Tazz, though, by tripping him up and wrapping his leg around the ringpost! The referee turns around to see Richards pulling Tazz up into the tree of woe, then stomping away at his face. The ref makes a five-count and then tries to get Richards to break the hold, but he won't do it.

The ref tries to talk sense to Steven, but he shoves him away, as Bull Buchanan takes off his tie and wraps it around Tazz's neck, then pulls it towards the ringpost, strangling the helpless Tazz, and the referee just throws this one out.

Winner: Tazz by DQ, I guess

Richards looks like a man possessed as he shakes the cobwebs loose and kicks away at Tazz, who's coughing and spluttering from Buchanan's choking. Eventually Bull lets him go as Richards frees his trapped legs, and Tazz drops unceremoniusly face-first onto the canvas. The Goodfather enters the ring, and kicks away at him a few times, then drags him to the outside and slams him face-first into the ringpost, and he drops draped across the steel steps.

Bull Buchanan then takes a quick run up and hits a huge Axe Kick, driving Tazz's face into the cold, hard STEEL, and busting him wide open.

The Right To Censor walk out, leaving a bloody and battered Tazz to be attended to by road agents and referees, and we go to BACKSTAGE SEGMENT~!

William Regal and Davey Boy Smith are backstage. Regal is in a suit, with the Intercontinental Title slung over his shoulder, Davey Boy is in an England football shirt and jeans. Kevin Kelly comes into shot, so it's apparent that we're in an interview segment.

KK: I'm here with WWF Commissioner and new Intercontinental Champion William Regal, and with "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith. The question on everyone's lips, guys, is what brought you together? Why have you two aligned with one another?

Regal: First things first, Kevin, I have to say just how wonderful it felt to feel that little toerag Chris Jericho squirm helplessly in the Regal Stretch last night, with no option but to tap out, and have myself crowned as the new Intercontinental Champion, a title far more befitting of an Englishman such as myself than it is of that miserable specimen.

KK: But Mr. Regal, with all due respect, you only managed to do that because of the interference of Davey Boy Sm...

Regal: That's bloody nonsense! Mr. Smith simply took offence to the outwardly anti-British attitude of Chris Jericho, and showed him that the Brits rule the wrestling business like we ruled the seas, and did so with a beautiful symbol, the Union Jack. And what David did was a marvellous display of national pride, of courage, and of determination, and that, Kevin Kelly, is why I have named Mr. Smith as my new executive assistant.

KK: Well, before we go, do you have any words to say regarding Chris Jericho?

Regal: Chris bloody Jericho should have listened to me months ago, and learned not to besmirch a man of my dignity and of my authority, and if he wants to continue to disrespect my position, he'll only get more of the bloody same!

Regal politely signals for Kevin Kelly to take the mic back, and Kevin is just about to speak when Davey Boy yanks the mic from his hands.

Bulldog: That Chris Jericho is a no-good bloody bastard who gives the Calgary Dungeon a bad name with the crap he pulls in the ring every week, it makes me sick to my stomach! And Mr. Regal's right, Jericho was wrong to cross him, and if he tries again, he will regret it, mark my words.

Davey Boy hands the mic back...

KK: Well...er, thank you Commissioner Regal and Davey Boy Smith...

Still backstage, and D'Lo Brown is in his locker room doing some stretches, when Chaz enters. D'Lo stops and the two stare at each other...

Chaz: D'Lo....I saw what you did at Backlash...

D'Lo: Good. The son-of-a-bitch had it coming to him, right?

Chaz: Well...I'll admit, maybe we made a mistake signing him as our manager, but don't you think you went a little too far? Maybe it's not his fault we're not successful, maybe we're just not that good a team? Are you sure you had to beat him up like that, we don't really need to be making enemies.

D'Lo: Bro, I ain't gonna stand for that kind of crap. Tiger Ali Singh was holding us back with that arab crap, it had nothing to do with our skills. We were paying too much attention to stroking his ego, and not enough on what we shoulda been doing...

Chaz: I dunno, D'Lo, it just seems...

D'Lo: Chaz, bro, I called you up to be my partner 'cos I thought we coulda been the best. Now do you want this or not? Cos I can just as happily fly solo.

Chaz hesitates...

Chaz: Yeah, I want it...

D'Lo: Good. Don't let me down now, bro.

Chaz shakes hands with D'Lo, but you can tell from his expression that he's not too happy...

Back in the ring, match time...

The Undertaker vs. The Big Show

As the two big men sluggishly tie up, and the crowd seem slightly off, the announcers explain how this match was set up as a result of Big Show's part in the lumberjack match at Backlash, and JR speculates that Show is almost a "go-to man" for Vince McMahon and Commissioner Regal.

Big Show manages to strike first with a clubbing forearm across 'Taker's back and neck, then scoops him up and slams him down on his back, as JR sells the fact that he's still hurting from his match at Backlash less than 24 hours ago. Show covers 'Taker...1....2..no, he gets the shoulder up, so Show turns him over and starts stomping on his back. He then stands on the small of his back and walks across him, as 'Taker cries out in agony...is this...psychology? In a Big Show match? *GASP!*

Big Show then pulls Undi' back to his feet and whips him, back-first, into the turnbuckles. Show runs in for a clothesline, but 'Taker boots him in the face, then runs out of the corner and hits a Running DDT! He covers Big Show...1...2...no, Show kicks out.

Undertaker stomps at Big Show for a while as he tries to stand, but Show manages to shove him away, then knock him down with a huge big boot. Big Show runs off the ropes and drops a massive leg across Undertaker's chest, then hooks the leg. 1....2.....no, Undertaker just kicks out. Show scoops Undertaker up and slams him down, then waits for him to get back up and hits him with a fairly week headbutt, staggering him slightly. Big Show whips 'Taker across the ring and ducks down for a back-body-drop, but 'Taker leapfrogs him, and Show turns around into a Flying Lariat!

Show gets back up, and gets pummelled with a sudden flurry of punches from the Dead Man, who finishes it all off with a Chokeslam! Next-to-no elevation on that, but the announcers sell it like death and Undertaker hooks the leg...1.....2....3!

Winner: The Undertaker

Undertaker works the crowd for a while, then gives the hands-across-waist title belt signal, and we go backstage...

...where Kevin Kelly is here for our next interview segment, and he's with TEST!

KK: I'm here backstage with Test, who lost a match for the European Title to Eddie Guerrero at Backlash. Test, what are your thoughts? Where do you go from here?

Test: I don't know where I'm gonna go from here, but when I get there, there will be a title belt around my waist. And Eddie Guerrero will have paid for what he's done. At Backlash, it took three men to put me away, Eddie couldn't cut it by himself. And I know there's no way I'm gonna get Eddie alone, away from those two cronies of his, so I've gotta come up with a new tactic. I need to find a way to fight off three men at once.

KK: So what you're saying is that this isn't over? You're gonna come after Eddie again?

Test: I'm far from done with Eddie Guerrero, he has something that belongs to me, and something that I will take. This ain't over, "ese", not by a long shot. That belt will be mine again, mark my words.

KK: Well, thank you, Test, back to you at ringside then, Paul and JR.

Stone Cold's music plays, and Austin makes his way to the ring, holding the WWF Title aloft, to the sound of boos. Raven's music then plays, and he comes out to a fairly decent pop, so I guess he's officially a face now. Raven in a WWF main event, who'd have thunk it?

The Main Event:

WWF World Title Match:

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin © vs. Raven

The two tie up, and Austin shoves Raven away and gives him the finger. Raven throws a punch, but Austin blocks it and punches away at him, knocking him down to the mat, then stomps away at him for a while, pulls him up and hits him with a neckbreaker. He hooks the leg...1.....2....no, Raven kicks out. Austin locks in a sleeper, but Raven turns it into a jawbreaker, then runs the ropes and hits a drop-down clothesline, and makes the cover. 1.....2...no, Austin kicks out.

Austin throws a couple of punches, then goes to whip Raven into the turnbuckles, but Raven reverses, then runs in after him and hits a clothesline, followed immediately by a bulldog out of the corner! Cover! 1....2....no, Austin kicks out.

Raven pulls Austin to his feet and goes for a grapple of some description, but Austin grabs his arm and locks in the Million Dollar Dream! Raven flails around for quite some time, and eventually drops to his knees. Austin tightens the hold, and the referee's asking Raven if he wants to give it up. Raven, after a while, manages to struggle up to one knee, elbow Austin in the ribcage, then stand up vertically, and get one foot on the bottom rope...then the middle....then his other foot on the middle rope...Raven springboards off the middle rope, and drops backwards on top of Austin! That's a cover! 1....2.....no, Austin has to break the hold to kick out, and Raven is coughing away as both men get back up to their feet.

Raven hits a knee to the gut, then grabs Austin by the head and slams the back of his head against his knee, and drops down into the cover. 1....2..no, Austin kicks out. Raven pulls Stone Cold back up, and whips him against the ropes, then hits him with a drop toe hold, followed by a knee drop across the back of the head! Psychology, perhaps? Cover....1....2...no, Austin kicks out.

Raven pulls Austin up, hits him with an elbow to the side of the head and sets up for the Evenflow DDT, but Austin fights out of it, and goes KICK WHAM STUNNER~!, cover, 1...2...3!

Winner and STILL WWF Champion: Steve Austin

Austin goes to the outside and grabs the WWF Title belt, and holds it in Raven's face, in the traditional heel champion way of "You're not getting anywhere near this". Austin holds it up high, until he's interupted by the music of The Undertaker! The Undertaker walks out on to the stage and just stares at Stone Cold, then slowly raises his arm and points, then mouths the word "mine". Austin backs off, and we close with a shot of The Undertaker's piercing stare...
