A Dream Come True

For the two of you (or less) that will actually give a shit, last night, I met my favorite band of all time, Garbage. They played a kickass show and earlier in the day, the radio station brought some listeners in to watch them do their sound check it was simply awesome. They came down after they sound checked and signed everything, shook every hand, and took a shitload of pictures (I'm expecting my pictures here soon, I'll put them in the picture place once my boss e-mails them to me). Butch Vig is, hands down, the coolest celebrity I have EVER met. We sat there and just talked about music for a good ten minutes like I was someone he actually knew and/or cared to talk to. He also gave me a pair of his drumsticks, which was just too fucking cool. Shirley Manson is easily the most beautiful woman alive... I was stunned I even had the ability to speak to her let alone ask for an autograph and picture.

So not that many of you will care, but I had to talk about it because I've waited ten fucking years for that very moment. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought that I would actually meet my favorite band of all time, but it happened and I still can't believe it. The big boss from the station was there and I thought he was going to yell at me for being such a fanboy, but when he met Butch Vig, you woulda thought my boss was a 13 year old girl at an NSync show. So that was quite amusing. And to top it all off, I'm going to see them again tomorrow night in Columbus. I love my fucking job.

Wow, what a day to remember.

Did you at least touched Shirley Manson?

Of course, shook her hand twice and I put my arm around her (and she put her's around mine  ) for a picture.

I suppose living in Ohio does have some benefits after all.

Heh, the funniest part of all was the show was just over the river in Kentucky. It's a small town in Northern KY called Covington; so little in fact, it's just referred to as Cincinnati to most people from out of town despite being in an entirely different state. However, with Downtown Cincinnati's huge problems and shitty concert venues, everyone is taking their business over the river to Kentucky. The major place in Cincy for concerts is a place called Bogart's, now they're taking a major hit from The Madison Theater (where Garbage played last night) right over the river. Cincy has lost: Garbage, The Killers, Black Label Society, Danzig, Unwritten Law, Kasabian, Cake, George Clinton, Dope, Modest Mouse, The Indigo Girls, Corrosion of Conformity, Alkaline Trio, Louis the XIV, Psychadelic Furs, Collective Soul, Dinosaur Jr. and so many more in just 2005 alone. Yes, every single one of those bands has been in town or will be in town within the next month and have passed over Cincinnati, one of the biggest cities in the country, for Covington Kentucky.

Wow man, that is so cool. I remember how stoked I was to meet the bassist from Amplifier...I couldn't imagine how over the moon I'd be if I met someone that I thought even more about than him (as obviously, he is relatively small fry to some of the other people I'd love to meet in the music industry).

Make sure you post the pics, as I'd be really interested in seeing them.

Me and Shirley

All the meet and greet winners plus Shirley, Duke, Butch, and Steve. My boss, Shaggy is standing in front of Duke holding the poster with the drumsticks in his pocket. I'm to the left of Steve, my girlfriend is right behind me and slightly to the right with the red eyes. Shirley front and center with the young lady who happens to be a "little person," that girl and her boyfriend on the far left were just two of the coolest people I've ever met so we had to take them backstage with us.

Me and Shirley, zoomified.

This is how I'd feel if I met Tony Hart - he's my idol, and has consistently outdrawn Ric Flair.

I'd love to see a Garbage live show - anyone know of any UK shows, or are they at any festivals in the summer?

Neil Buchanan > Tony Hart. Check the sig I've had since the move to EWBIV. It is tight though.

FI nows, as do I, that Tony Hat outdrew them all....including Flair.
