I'm downloading some music right now and I'm looking for recommendations. I'll put it all on a cd and listen to it for a few days and then make a trip to the store to pick up some albums.

I don't want real heavy stuff. I'm into rock music but not that death metal and shit like that.

Some examples of bands that I like are:

Oasis

Guns n' Roses

Motley Crue

Posion

I listen to just about everything and I also hapen to somewhat like country-western music.

KRS-One's "Sound of Da Police"

uhmmm...

Nine Inch Nails' "Only"

Nine Inch Nails' "The Hand That Feeds"

Subarachnoid Space, you could try their album "These Things Take Time". Also from the rock front, Neurosis kicks ass. "A Sun That Never Sets" and "Stones From The Sky" are good songs to go with.

Blur - Anything, all their stuff is good

Cake - Never There, Comfort Eagle, She'll come back to me, I will survive

Red Hot Chili Peppets - Funky Monks, Aeroplane, Higher Ground

Pink Floyd - Money

Aerosmith - Crazy, Crying, Dream On, Hole in my soul, Sunshine, Dude looks like a lady, walk this way

Bush - Come Down, Glycerine, Float

Pearl Jam - Jeremy, Alive

Radiohead - Karma Police, Paranoid Android

A perfect circle - Imagine

Most of the stuff I gave you is quite main-stream, but mostly because I think it will fit your music likings.

Guns N Roses - November Rain.

I've been listening it alot recently, and it only takes one listen to realise why its such a classic.

Pray For The Soul Of Betty isn't that good to be honest, but it's easy to pick up and listen to.

Bloc Party are horrible, why on earth would someone recommend them? Eurgh.

Anyway, I'd highly recommend anything from Funeral For A Friend (Juno, Escape Artists Never Die, and Rookie of the Year being particulary popular).

I'm no Bloc Party fan, but FFAF are both god-awful and totally unlike anything he's asked for.

If you like Poison, G'n'R and Motley Crue then I strongly suggest Skid Row, Brides Of Destruction and LA Guns. Skid Row are fairly generic 80s hair metal, but I adore them, same goes for LA Guns to a lesser extent, Brides Of Destruction are absolutely fantastic, they're like a 21st century take on hair metal, and feature Nikki Sixx of the Crue and Tracii Guns of LA Guns.

Here's a little factoid for you: LA Guns were *technically* the prototype for Guns & Roses, as Axl Rose was a former member, and the Guns & Roses name is taken from their stage names, Gun and Rose. Not that interesting, but cool nevertheless.

Oh, and I also suggest Hanoi Rocks' later stuff. I find their early material fairly abysmal, but the last album was excellent. They were early influences of the likes of G'n'R and Motley Crue.

I didn't have to say anything and you proved my point already. Thanks though.

Some more 'rock' orientated suggestions:

The Peepshows - Genius, Surrender My Love

Turbonegro - Get It On, All My Friends Are Dead, Fuck The World, Turbonegro Must Be Destroyed
