Mike Awesome’s Contract

Posted by Alec Young

After appearing on this past Wednesday’s edition of the TNA PPV, there has been a lot of speculation regarding whether Awesome will be a permanent addition to the NWA:TNA ranks.  Here at TotalNonStopTNA.com we have heard that Awesome’s deal was a one off, with the possibility of adding more dates to the future.  However, whether Awesome wants to remain in TNA remains to be seen, and there has been no talk of extending his contract.

TNA Opens Development Camp

Posted by Scott Reed

NWA:TNA announced that they will be opening up a development camp, to aid in the training of young superstars from around the world.  Hi69 and Lance Silva are the two superstars currently in development, although expect many additions to the camp in the near future.

Wrestling News from Around the World

Eddie Guerrero is said to be furious about his current position within the WWE, it has been reported.  It has even gone so far as to say that ‘Latino Heat’ could leave the WWE within the next few days.  We’ll keep you posted on the situation.

Jersey All Pro Wrestling (JAPW) seem to be in financial trouble, and are having trouble paying wages to workers.  JAPW are scheduled to hold their next event “Genocide” on the 25th of January, but will they be able to run the show?

Scouts from TNA will be in Detroit this weekend to watch the highly anticipated triple threat between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Chuck Liddell and Harley Lewis.  All three, who specialize in different areas have caught the eye of the ‘top two’ companies in the U.S at the moment, as rumour has it that WWE talent scouts will also be at the event.

NWA World Heavyweight Title

Jeff Jarrett © vs. Raven

For Raven, the wait is over as he finally gets his shot at Jeff Jarrett’s World Heavyweight Title, live on Pay-Per View! However, at the end of last week’s broadcast Jeff Jarrett, Mike Awesome and the Redshirt Security destroyed Raven in the middle of the ring, and warned him to stay at home. Will their warning work?

Tag Team Tournament Match #1

Christopher Daniels & Elix Skipper vs. Danny Doring & Roadkill

The opening match of the tournament to crown new #1 contenders to the Tag Team Titles opens up, with TNA regulars Chris Daniels and Elix Skipper – two members of Triple X, taking on former ECW champions Danny Doring and Roadkill. Daniels and Skipper will be without Steve Corino who is currently working with Zero-One – will they be able to get things done on their own?

Tag Team Tournament Match #2

The New Franchise vs. Simon & Swinger

Shane Douglas returns to the ring after a short absence, teaming up with his young prodigy Michael Shane, to take on Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger. Simon and Swinger have had some problems as of late – namely with David Young, and will be looking to take out their frustrations on The New Franchise, who will, as always, be accompanied by the lovely Traci.

3-in-a-Row Match

“The New American Hero” Eric Angle vs. The Amazing Red

The self-proclaimed New American Hero Eric Angle looks to make it 3 victories in a row, as he takes on X-Division member The Amazing Red. Angle picked up a win via count-out in his debut match against AJ Styles, and just last week defeated D’Lo Brown with the Eric Angle Slam. Can he make the hat-trick?

Eric Angle vs. The Amazing Red

This week’s PPV started off with the self-proclaimed “New American Hero” Eric Angle taking on The Amazing Red. Since arriving in TNA Angle has defeated AJ Styles and D’Lo Brown, and tonight looked to make it 3-in-a-row.

The match started off with Angle in control, following a thumb to the eye of the high flying Red. Eric stayed in the drivers seat until The Amazing one mounted a comeback that looked promising, but, once again, Angle used some dirty tactics to put Red back in his place. In the end, Angle picked up the win with an Eric Angle Slam, before applying Eric’s Ankle Lock for the submission victory.

The cameras then shifted to the backstage area, where Scott Hudson was with the two original members of Triple X – Christopher Daniels and Elix Skipper. Daniels and Skipper quickly pushed Hudson off the screen, and said that tonight, they’re going to show everyone that they can get the job done on their own, without a ‘third man’. They promised that Danny Doring and Roadkill’s stay in TNA will be a short one.

Christopher Daniels & Elix Skipper vs. Danny Doring & Roadkill

“The Fallen Angel” and Elix Skipper were entered into this tournament after an impressive couple of weeks, which included them putting Low-Ki out of TNA and joining forces with Steve Corino. Danny Doring and Roadkill are just two of the surprise entrants, chosen by the Director of Authority Erik Watts.

Once the bell had rung Doring and Skipper started things off, with a tie-up in the middle of the ring. Elix applied a side headlock to Doring but he was quickly sent into the ropes, before getting knocked down with a shoulderblock. Doring began to work to knee of Skipper before making the tag to Roadkill who continued where Danny left off, but “The Fallen Angel” distracted the referee allowing Skipper to hit a Low Blow, rolling up Roadkill or a two-count. Skipper brought in Daniels off the tag and he looked to keep the big man down with a series of stomps, punches and stiff kicks to the Angry Amish Warrior, and even hit the Best Moonsault Ever, but the count was broken up by Doring.

Eventually, Roadkill levelled Daniels with a HUGE clothesline and made the tag to Danny Doring, who came in as the typical house afire. He took down Daniels and the interfering Skipper with a series of Clotheslines, before getting knocked down himself by a spinning heel kick from Daniels. Roadkill got the momentum back for his team with a springboard clothesline to Daniels, but he was bundled out of the ring by Elix Skipper, who followed to continue the beating on the outside. Doring was first to his feet as he climbed the turnbuckle looking for the Mamma Jamma Leg Drop, but “The Fallen Angel” pushed the referee into the ropes, crotching Doring on the turnbuckle! Daniels bought Danny back into the ring and after a European Uppercut, nailed the Last Rites for the victory! After the match, Daniels was joined by Skipper in the ring as the two celebrated, and Daniels could be heard yelling “We told you so!”

We cut to the back again, this time in a pre-taped interview with Simon & Swinger. Simon says that he has a problem – David Young. David Young has screwed with Simon and Swinger time and time again, costing them match after match. They said that he interferes in their match (which is up next) tonight, then they won’t be held responsible for their actions.

Simon & Swinger vs. The New Franchise w/ Traci

The second match in the TNA Tag Team Titles Tournament got off to a slow start, firstly with the two teams trash-talking each other and then Traci getting into an argument with an over-zealous fan at ringside.

Once the match got underway however things quickly heated up. Michael Shane and Johnny Swinger kicked things off with Shane quickly locking in a side headlock, but Swinger was able to shoot Michael into the ropes and take him down with a shoulderblock, stamping his and Diamond’s intents firmly into the New Franchise. Simon was brought in to a perhaps surprisingly large pop from the crowd as he went straight to work on Shane, only for Traci to get involved again distracting the referee, allowing Douglas to come from behind and take control. Douglas hit a stalling vertical suplex for a two-count and then brought Michael Shane back into the match, as the two connected with a double-clothesline on Simon Diamond.

Shane and Douglas continued to keep the ring cut in half as they isolated Diamond for a long period of time, keeping each other fresh with quick tags to one another. However, it was their cockiness that allowed Diamond to bring in Swinger after taking Michael out with a kick to the face and Shane with a back-body drop, allowing Johnny Swinger to take out both members of the New Franchise. Once again, Traci got onto the apron but was brought into the ring the hard way by Simon and Swinger, again distracting the referee. This allowed David Young to get into the ring and drill Diamond with a Spinebuster before escaping through the crowd, the damage done. Michael Shane pulled Swinger to the outside and threw him into the guardrail, as Shane Douglas got into the ring and nailed Diamond with the Pittsburgh Plunge for the victory, putting The New Franchise into Round 2! After the match, as Douglas, Shane and Traci celebrated Swinger and Simon Diamond helped each other up in the ring, not quite believing that David Young has cost them yet another match.

We then headed backstage into Jeff Jarrett’s lockeroom, where he is talking to Don Callis, Abyss and the Redshirts. Jarrett says that he’s just spoken to a couple of TNA crewmen, and there’s been no sign of Raven all day. He says that last week must have beaten some sense into Raven, and that he doesn’t need anyone out there with him tonight. He reiterates to his troops that he doesn’t want anyone interfering - no matter what happens.

We go back into the arena just as Jarrett’s music hit, and the NWA World Heavyweight Champion made his way to the ring! He got on the mike and said he apologises, but Raven has heeded his advice and not shown up at the arena. He goes onto say that its just probably as well, as we all know what Jarrett is capable of. Raven’s music then hits scaring Jarrett out of his wits, but Raven doesn’t appear. Suddenly, the crowd at the back of the asylum erupts as Raven makes his way through the crowd and slides into the ring, getting face to face with Jarrett!

Raven vs. Jeff Jarrett

A look of both fear and surprise took over Jarrett’s face, as he said that Raven shouldn’t be here. Raven smiled and shook his head, before digging into Jarrett with a right hand! Jarrett got to his feet – the belt still wrapped around his waist and tried to escape the ring, but Raven grabbed him and tossed him into the ropes, taking him down with a lariat! Jarrett this time manages to the outside, but Raven is in hot pursuit as he clubs down on Jeff’s back with his forearm, before throwing him into the barricade! Raven threw Jarrett back into the ring and followed making a cover, but only got a two-count.

Raven’s domination didn’t last long as he went for a back drop, but Jarrett countered with a low blow with a roll-up for a two count. Jarrett worked over the back and torso of Raven, with kicks, chops and submission holds. Jarrett went for a Superplex on Raven but got pushed off the turnbuckle down to the mat, and Raven capitalized as he dropped his knee into Jarrett’s throat. He pulled Jeff up and signalled for The Raven Effect, drilling him in the centre of the ring! The fans were going nuts as Raven made the cover, but just before the three a chair came crashing down on his back! The camera panned backwards and revealed none other than Kid Kash, holding a Steel Chair which he had raised in the air, before bringing it back down on Raven’s back. The referee called for the bell and ruled the match as a no contest, as Kash stood poised behind Raven. A third shot put Raven down for good as he turned to Jeff Jarrett, who was now on his feet. Jarrett snatched the World Title away from the referee and hugged Kid Kash, but was met with a Low Blow, followed up by the Dead Level! As the broadcast went off the air, Kid Kash raised the steel chair with one hand, and the NWA World Heavyweight Title in the other.

Lollipop Released

Posted by Alec Young

As we reported a couple of weeks ago, Lollipop has been becoming increasingly unpopular due to her backstage attitude, as she seems immersed in the belief that she is ‘better’ than TNA.  This morning, TNA officials confirmed that she has left the company under a ‘mutual agreement’.

TNA TV Deal

Posted by Scott Reed

Rumour has it that NWA:TNA is in negotiations with several TV networks, in the hope of adding a Late Evening TV show to replace the weekly PPV’s.  Buyrates for these events have remained the same over the course of this month, with little fluctuation between the weekly buyrates.  TNA owners believe that adding a weekly TV show, and then resorting to a monthly PPV system will increase audiences, as fans won’t have to pay to watch TNA every week.

TNA Linked with Numerous Big Names

Posted by Alec Young

TNA has been linked with multiple ‘big name’ free agents over the last week, including Randy Savage, Vader and Hulk Hogan.  We here at TotalNonStopTNA.com have not heard anything from inside TNA about any of these names being signed – or even contacted by the company.

Wrestling News from Around the World

Both Jonny C and Corrupted Youth have signed 1 year developmental deals with NWA:TNA.  The two join Hi69 and Lance Silva in the camp, and are expected to be joined with more up and comers soon.

In a recent interview with the online radio show talkWRESTLE.com, Sean O’Haire spoke out about his time in the WWE.  Whilst he had many positives to say about the company, Sean also said that he believes that they need to start ‘treating their younger workers’ a lot better.

NWA:TNA on PPV Preview

January 21st, 2004

X-Division Title

Christopher Daniels © vs. Michael Shane vs. Sonjay Dutt

In what promises to be an action-packed Main Event, “The Fallen Angel” will defend his X-Division Crown against Michael Shane and “The Original Playa from the Himalaya” – Sonjay Dutt. Both Daniels and Shane competed in matches last week as part of the NWA:TNA Title Tournament, whilst Dutt had last week off! Will the short break play to Dutt’s advantages?

Tag Team Tournament Match #3

3 Live Krew vs. The Naturals

3 Live Krew were the champions when this tournament was announced, only to lose the straps to America’s Most Wanted. Now, they will have to regain the titles the hard way – by competing in the #1 Contender’s Tournament, starting against Andy Douglas and Chase Stevens, who are yet to taste Tag Team Gold here in TNA.

Tag Team Tournament Match #4

Paul London & Spanky vs. The Redshirts w/ Don Callis

Fresh off stints with the WWE, both Paul London and Spanky return to NWA:TNA where they have a chance at immediately winning some gold. However, if the Redshirts’ destruction of AJ Styles is anything to go by, London and Spanky will have a tough time defeating the two powerhouses.

Plus...

An in-ring with Kid Kash, who cost Raven the NWA World Heavyweight Title this past week, as well as attacking Jeff Jarrett. Will we get a definitive reason as to why Kash acted in the way he did?

NWA:TNA on Pay-Per View

January 21st, 2004

Tonight’s broadcast started off with “The New American Hero” Eric Angle making his way to ringside, and issuing an open challenge to anyone who thought they could end his winning streak here in TNA. However, because he’s clearly better than anyone in the back, he’ll make it a little more interesting – No Disqualification. Enter Sandman. The Asylum erupted as The Sandman appeared on the ramp - holding a Cain and a can of beer, as well as having a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. As he slowly made his way to ringside, Eric was going crazy in the ring, not quite able to believe that he may have signed his own death warrant.

Eric Angle vs. The Sandman (No DQ)

As soon as Sandman entered the ring Eric was all over him, pounding him with fists and stomps, eventually tossing him to the outside. From there, he grabbed Sandman’s own Cane and went to hit him with it, but Sandman ducked thus avoiding the shot, and grabbed the Cane! Angle pleaded with Sandman, but it was all pointless as Sandman kicked Eric in the stomach and brought the Cain crashing down on Angle’s back, garnering cheers from everyone fan in the Asylum. Eric took 8 more shots to the back before the Cain snapped, as Sandman tossed it aside and slid Eric into the ring.

Sandman continued to beat on Angle with whatever weapon came to hand, and even went so far as to stub a cigarette out on Angle’s forehead! Angle mounted a brief comeback late on in the match and nearly locked Eric’s Ankle Lock in on Sandman, but was unable to get it in properly as Sandman wriggled to the outside. As Angle taunted in the ring Sandman pulled a chair out from underneath the ring, and as Angle leaned through the ropes he drove the chair straight into Angle’s skull! Sandman got into the ring and pulled Angle up whilst placing the chair behind him, before dropping Angle on the chair with a White Russian Legsweep! The referee counted the 1, 2, 3, giving The Sandman the victory and ending Eric Angle’s mini-streak!

We shift straight to the back where Jeff Jarrett is yelling at Don Callis, asking him why Kid Kash attacked him last week. Callis says that he doesn’t know, but perhaps Jeff should calm down. After all, thanks to Kash he’s still the Heavyweight Champion. However, Jarrett says that it’s also thanks to Kash that he’s got stitches in his head. Whilst Callis agrees, he thinks that Jeff should wait until later – when Kash is preoccupied with Mike Tenay’s interview. Jeff doesn’t look to happy, but tells Callis that he’ll wait.

3 Live Krew vs. The Naturals

Both teams are well-known to the TNA, with the 3 Live Krew having held the Tag Team Gold before, whilst Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas have been competing in the division for some time now.

The Naturals got off to a quick start, working the Krew for the first couple of minutes until the referee finally got control, and sent two men to their corners leaving Stevens and Killings in the ring. Stevens had control of Killings before making the tag to Andy Douglas, who looked promising at first applying a Sleeper Hold to Ron, but the crowd got behind Killings which spurred him onto the escape, and hit a dropkick on Douglas! Ron made the tag to BG James who his the Shake, Rattle and Roll on Douglas for a two count, before forcing him into the corner. James unloaded with chops, but got a thumb to the eye from Douglas.

The Naturals had their way with the 3 Live Krew for a majority of the match from then on, and we got a shot of The New Franchise standing at the top of the ramp, obviously scouting the opposition for next week. As the match went on, The Naturals looked more and more like coming out on top, but got to arrogant with Ron Killings who took both down with a T-Bone Suplexes and then brought in James, who cleaned house. Douglas and Stevens managed to stop James’ onslaught but once Killings was back up, they received another beating. As James took Chase out with a Piledriver, Killings hit Andy Douglas with an Axe Kick, moving the 3 Live Krew into round 2! After the match, the 3 Live Krew and The New Franchise taunted each other, both promising that they’d be the next #1 Contenders.

We then went to the back with Scott Hudson, who was standing by with The Redshirt Security and Don Callis. Callis says that after tonight’s match, Paul London and Spanky are going to wish they were still in the WWE, because once he unleashes Northcutt and Legend there is no stopping them. AJ Styles found out the hard way – as will London & Spanky.

Paul London & Spanky vs. The Redshirt Security

Going into this encounter, both Paul London and Spanky have been kept well-aware of The Redshirts’ destruction of AJ Styles, mainly thanks to Don Callis’ constant reminders. Would this affect their performance?

The Redshirts stamped their authority on the match as they attacked Paul London and Spanky during their entrance, delivering a vicious beat-down before the match had even started. London was thrown into the guardrail several times, whilst Legend threw Spanky into the crowd! Once the match finally got into the ring, Northcutt went for a quick cover on London but only got a two-count. The Redshirts were then joined by Don Callis, who barked orders from ringside, which were followed to the letter. The match saw numerous near-falls, as Legend and Northcutt used their superior size & strength to isolate Paul London, keeping Spanky out of the match all together.

The Redshirts went for a double team on Paul, but were met with resistance in terms of a kick to the face for Legend and a Dropsault for Kevin Northcutt, which finally allowed him to make the tag to Spanky! Spanky was quick to make an impression, hitting the Shining Wizard on Northcutt into a lateral press, but Legend broke up the pinfall attempt. London got his second wind and took Legend out of the ring but threw himself out in the process, as Spanky drilled his forearm into the face of Kevin Northcutt. Northcutt managed to set Spanky up for a Powerbomb, but Spanky managed to counter into an X-Factor! London, who was now on the top rope leaped off, and landed on Northcutt with a Shooting Star Press! The fans counted in unison as the referee applied the three-count, as Paul London and Spanky pulled off a massive upset, defeating The Redshirts!

Kid Kash Sit-Down Interview

We came back from a video recap of last week’s main event, with two seats set up in the ring, with Mike Tenay sitting in one. Tenay introduced Kid Kash, who came out to a mixed reaction. On the one hand, fans hated him for costing Raven the World Heavyweight Title, but on the other hand cheered him for attacking Jeff Jarrett.

Tenay’s first question was why Kash attacked Raven, costing him the title. Kash responded by saying that it was simply revenge, for Raven beating him on the December 31st PPV. Tenay then asks why he attacked his former friend Jeff Jarrett, who seemingly thought Kash was out there to save him from losing the title. However, before the Notorious K I D can reply, Jeff Jarrett comes to the ring, demanding that Kash give him an explanation to his face. Kash is happy to comply, telling Jarrett to cast his mind back to that same match. Does he remember what happened at the end? Jarrett deserted Kash, and left him at the mercy of Raven.

Jarrett turns away to think about what Kash just said, but then swings his right hand at Kash! He doesn’t connect though, as Kash ducks the punch and then throws a white powder into the face of Jarrett that he pulled from his pocket! With Jarrett unable to see, Kash picked up the NWA World Heavyweight Title, and drilled Jarrett right between the eyes! Kash posed with the title and mocked Jarrett, before heading backstage.

Whilst Jarrett is helped to the back, we watch a pre-taped interview with Triple X – with Corino now back from Japan. Daniels told us that whilst we may think the odds are stacked against him in his upcoming match, they really aren’t. Because whilst he doesn’t have to be pinned to lose the title – do we really think that Dutt or Shane are going to have the ability to keep him down long enough? Besides, he’s got two of the greatest superstars to ever step foot inside the Asylum backing him up - Steve Corino and Elix Skipper.

Christopher Daniels © vs. Michael Shane vs. Sonjay Dutt (X-Division Title)

Although only one of them could get the pinfall, it looked like Dutt and Shane were going to have to work together in this match, especially when Daniels came down to ringside accompanied by both Steve Corino and Elix Skipper.

Sure enough, the New Franchise and Dutt worked as a unit, double-teaming the champion. Dutt and Shane had clearly done their homework, as every time Triple X tried to get involved they were ready, ensuring Daniels couldn’t use any dirty tricks. As expected though, friction did appear as Shane went for the cover on Daniels, only for Dutt to push him off and then make the cover himself. Shane broke that count up and the two shoved each other back and forth, before fists began to fly. Dutt went for a kick but Shane grabbed his foot, only to get an Enziguiri from Sonjay!

Daniels lay recovering in the corner, as Dutt and Shane battled back and forth. Neither man could keep the other down for long, as Corino and Skipper were now able to interfere seemingly at will, with all three men preoccupied. Shane went for the Sweet Shane Music on Dutt who moved out of the way, but the referee couldn’t do the same as he got taken down with a brutal Superkick from Michael Shane. Straight away, Corino and Skipper got in the ring. Michael managed to fight them off at first, but a chair shot from Skipper soon had him down on the mat. Shane Douglas tried to run-in, but was kept at bay by Elix and his chair. Back in the ring, Daniels got to his feet and pulled Sonjay up, and hit the Angel’s Wings! The referee came round and slowly made the count, and Daniels retained his X-Division Title! Corino and Skipper got back in the ring, and all three members of Triple X celebrated, as the PPV went off the air.
