Chris Jericho Is The Number One Contender

Last week on WWE RAW, Chris Jericho eliminated Chris Benoit to become the number one contender to Batista’s World Title. Jericho out lasted nineteen other men in a twenty man Battle Royal where the winner would be deemed the number one contender. After becoming the Number One contender, Jericho dropped to his knees and looked to the skies after he pushed Benoit from the turnbuckle making him the final elimination. Jericho will be in the building on Monday and will surely have something to say about facing Batista sometime down the line.

Also last week we saw Billy Kidman and Tajiri finally hit it off inside the ring as the two went at it in an all out affair. Kidman picked up the victory over the Japanese Buzzsaw with his patented Shooting Star Press and both men will meet again in the ring this week in tag team action. Tajiri will team up with his former Tag Team Champion partner, William Regal who rushed to Tajiri’s aid last week to stop an after match assault from Kidman happening. Billy Kidman has picked his partner as the cocky, arrogant and oh-so confident, Simon Dean.

Also in action this Monday on RAW will be Maven. Maven was the first ever winner of Tough Enough and has since thrived in the WWE, Maven was took in by the fans and they loved his never say die attitude however Maven has since had a change of heart, he aligned himself briefly with Simon Dean and Dean’s cockiness seems to have rubbed onto Maven. Maven is not the same as he was, he’s still a great competitor however and will go one on one with Mr. Monday Night himself, Rob Van Dam.

And in the main event of this weeks Monday Night RAW will be the World Heavyweight Champion Batista teaming up with the legendary Heart Break Kid, Shawn Michaels to go against the newly re-formed Evolution, Triple H and Randy Orton. Triple H has refused to let Evolution die under any circumstances, even when Batista and Randy Orton bailed out on the Evolution it left Triple H and Ric Flair, then Ric Flair was traded to SmackDown! Signalling the end of Evolution, however Triple H managed to get Randy Orton to rejoin him in a desperate attempt to keep Evolution alive. Evolution will remain strong no matter who is in it and that is a fact, can Evolution stop Batista and Shawn Michaels in their tracks or will the Champion and Legend topple Evolution?

RAW Confirmed Matches

Tajiri & William Regal versus Billy Kidman & Simon Dean

Maven versus Rob Van Dam

Batista & Shawn Michaels versus Evolution, Triple H & Shawn Michaels

All this and more on Monday Night RAW!

RAW kicks off with the countdown appearing on the titantron. The pyrotechnics explode and Chris Jericho comes out from be mist covered entrance to his music, he comes down the stage and the crowd give a mixed reaction to Jericho. He climbs in the ring and takes a microphone, he announces that he became Number One contender through blood, sweat and tears and not because of the fans, simply because the fans did not care about him. In turn he no longer cared about the fans either and he could easily defeat Batista without the backing of the fans, and he would once again become the champion…of the world. The crowd began to boo him as he smirked slightly. He said how he no longer needed the highlight reel to entertain the pathetic fans and instead would concentrate on toppling Batista from his mountain and then renaming it “Mountain of Jericho”. Jericho appears to be on a mission now, a mission to dethrone Batista!

The credits roll and the first match gets underway with Rob Van Dam’s music playing, the fan favourite came to the ring to cheers from the crowd as he prepared himself for the upcoming match. Maven then came out to a few boos from the crowd, he smirked and sprinted down the ramp and slid in the ring. He instantly dived at RVD from behind tackling him to the ground, Maven mounted RVD on his stomach and punched at Mr. Monday Night. The crowd booed as Maven slapped RVD about and then got off him, telling him to get up and then goading him to punch him. RVD doesn’t comply and instead hit’s a roundhouse kick sending Maven to the mat in a slump. The crowd cheer loudly as RVD and Maven go at it, unable to be separated during the match. RVD sends Maven to the outside who throws a bit of a fit, he grabs to chairs and slides one into the middle of the ring, the referee retrieves and Maven slides in with the other. He runs at RVD who hit’s a roundhouse kick to the chair, sending it into Maven’s face! A loud crack his heard and the referee turns around, he sees Maven on the mat and the chair beside him, blood begins trickling down Maven’s skull, the referee calls for the bell and RVD has been disqualified. After the match RVD pleads with the referee but there is no way of turning it around, RVD leaves to the back dejected as Maven begins to hold his head in pain.

After a brief argument between Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler, with JR saying Maven should never have brought the chair into the ring in the first place and Jerry Lawler saying RVD used the chair as a weapon on purpose with intent to cause damage when Maven might only have wanted to have a sit down. We then go backstage where we see La Resistance, Robert Conway and Sylvain Grenier speaking. They say how they are getting ready to face the new tag team of Tyson Tomko and Kash. Stating that Tomko says he’s turned over a new leaf since Christian stopped bossing him around, however they didn’t know who this ‘Kash’ guy was. They told us that either way they would be wrestling them tonight and they would defeat them because of their superiority.

Following the La Resistance speech, we head to the ring where we see Simon Dean standing with Billy Kidman. Simon Dean says that tonight he will show the world just how great he is as he teams with a man of magnitude such as Billy Kidman. Dean says that a man like Kidman is so superior that he doesn’t need Simon Dean’s “Simon System Protein Bars” but two people who did were William Regal and Tajiri. Clearly they needed some protein in their body because they had lost their tag team titles to two jokes, Rosey and The Hurricane. William Regal and Tajiri had obviously heard enough and came down to the ring to shut Simon Dean up.

William Regal and Tajiri got in the ring, clearly annoyed with Simon Dean’s excessive ranting. The bell rang and the two started up the match, William Regal and Simon Dean traded holds with Regal’s knowledge allowing him to go behind Dean with a wristlock and he began to systematically take apart Dean. Dean tagged out to Kidman who leaped over the ropes, Regal looked to Tajiri’s outstretched hand who was dying to get in and the crowd wanted to see him get in. Kidman put a stop to it by knocking Tajiri off the apron and then assaulting Regal to a round of boos. Kidman puts the boots to Regal and when Tajiri is stopped from coming in the ring by the referee he seizes the opportunity to low blow Regal and push him over to his corner. Using quick tags and other heel tactics Regal is isolated until he can make the hot tag to Tajiri who cleans house and after a few minutes lands a spinning kick to Kidman! Kidman collapses to the mat and Tajiri covers him to pick up the victory and get a small bit of retribution back against Kidman. After the match Regal takes a protein bar and shoves it down Kidman’s throat as the tag team celebrate over Kidman’s body.

We go backstage where we see Chris Benoit bump into Chris Jericho. Chris Benoit says that Chris Jericho got lucky last week, and that he should put his Number One Contendership up for a grabs in a match between the two. Jericho says that while a 20 Man Battle Royal may not be able to decide the true best winner, it made an exception last week when he won the 20 Man Battle Royal and he wouldn’t be putting his Contendership up for grabs because he earned it by eliminating Benoit. Suddenly, Eric Bischoff comes between the two and breaks them up from the heated confrontation. Bischoff agrees with Jericho in that Benoit doesn’t deserve the number one Contendership match against Jericho next week. This brings a smile to Jericho’s face but that soon vanishes with the next bits that Bischoff says. Bischoff says that a 20 Man Battle Royal may not be the best way to decide and he did have an idea to put the winners Contendership on the line to the runner up, since Benoit feels so deprived then that’s what he’s going to do, that is if Benoit can defeat Chris Jericho next week in singles action. So for Benoit to get a shot at Jericho’s number one Contendership, he must beat him first next week!

Following that announcement that left Jericho seemingly with a bitter taste in his mouth we go backstage to the Evolution locker room. Triple H is pacing around the locker room, irate with what’s just happened, Orton is sat on the arm of a chair looking at Triple H. Triple H complains that he should have got the number one contenders shot at Jericho, in fact he should have won the Battle Royal but Jericho and Benoit conspired against him because he was certain to win. Orton rolls his eyes and then agrees with Triple H. Triple H continues to say that Bischoff should be fired because he isn’t giving Triple H the correct opportunities because Triple H has been champion countless times. The camera leaves with Triple H continuing to rant.

We got to the ring where Edge has made his way out to the ring with a microphone, he addresses the crowd putting himself over as the real number one contender because he Mr. Money in the Bank and that he has the ability to exercise the clause whenever he feels like it. As he is speaking Shelton Benjamin comes out onto the aisle holding a microphone, he says that Edge needs to learn when to shut up but it doesn’t matter because Benjamin has a friend willing to shut it for him. Charlie Haas emerges from the back and he and Benjamin embrace on the stage, and Haas walks down to the ring. He slides in and Edge doesn’t let him get up as he stomps him on the ground.

Haas manages to get up and takes Edge down to the mat with a leg sweep. The crowd get behind Haas as he drops elbows onto Edge’s sternum before stretching him with a figure four leg lock. Edge quickly gets to the ropes to break it up and after some offence locks on his edge-a-cator but Haas makes it to the ropes as well. Edge is managing to match Haas’ submission offence, that is until Haas takes it up another gear, upping the tempo, upping the submission style and taking to a complete amateur style. Not allowing Edge to even get up until Edge elbows him in the gut and finally gets some offence in after five minutes of defending, he gets Haas on the back foot with some offence and plants him with the Edge-o-cution, 1...2...Rope break. Haas grabs the ropes much to Edge’s displeasure as he complains to the referee. Haas gets up and rolls up Edge for a close count, Edge isn’t happy and manages to connect with a big spear, jerking Haas backwards and to the mat. Edge plants him to the mat and hooks the leg, 1...2...3! He got the win, Haas gets up holding his ribs as Shelton Benjamin walks down to the ring. He looks at Haas and shakes his head before turning around into a spear from Edge! Both men are down in the middle of the ring as the crowd boo, Edge makes his exit up the ramp leaving the Worlds Greatest Tag Team hurt in the ring.

Following the singles match we head backstage where we see Shawn Michaels speaking to Batista. Michaels says that tonight he will gain revenge on Triple H and Randy Orton for when they’ve both disrespected him over the years. Michaels tells everyone that he is a legend and he deserves more respect but he doesn’t expect anything different from Orton who’s mind is corrupted by Triple H. Shawn Michaels and Batista head off to the ring after Michaels tells Triple H and Randy Orton to watch out or else they will suffer a painful loss.

We got the ring where Evolution are making their entrance, the crowd boos them as they taunt the fans with their poses. Shawn Michaels is the first man out for the team and he does his usual routine before waiting at the bottom of the ramp for the Champion. The animal, Batista, comes out to the ring and joins Michaels at the bottom of the ramp. The two slide in the ring together and begin to beat on their Evolution opponents until order can be stored. Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton start the match off as Orton intensely slaps Michaels and then gets pummelled by the Showstopper. The crowd cheer on Michaels who isn’t holding back on the young superstar and doesn’t stop until Orton manages to block a right hand and hit a few of his own to even it out. Both men beat on each other with Michaels planting a dropkick to Orton’s chest and Orton staggers back to the turnbuckle and tags in Triple H. Triple H wearily gets in as Michaels tags in Batista to a roar from the crowd. Triple H tries to tactical out do Batista but the animal floors Triple H with a big clothesline and begins attacking him with rights and lefts. The crowd cheer wildly as Batista pummels Triple H until he’s caught with an eye poke and raised knee. The two teams then match each other throughout the entire match with it coming down to Batista and Orton while Michaels and Triple H lay on the outside after a suicidal plancha from the showstopper. Orton goes for the RKO but gets pushed off and into the ropes he runs back into a standing shoulder block from Batista who taunts Orton to get up, Orton groggily gets up but gets planted with a Powerbomb from Batista who covers him for the victory. Triple H slides in the ring with Shawn Michaels right behind, Michaels attacks Triple H from behind before he can do anything but Chris Jericho comes down the ramp. Jericho climbs the turnbuckle and takes out everybody with a flying press with Michaels, Triple H and Orton all falling to the outside, Jericho gets up as does Batista, Batista swings wildly at Jericho but Y2J trips him and locks in the Walls of Jericho. Batista taps out furiously as the show ends with Jericho holding in the Walls of Jericho!

Great American Bash Looms Closer

With the Great American Bash hovering closer the final SmackDown! Will see the final touches added to it. Already confirmed are John Bradshaw Layfield versus John Cena, Orlando Jordan versus Christian versus Booker T, Rey Mysterio and Juventud versus Eddie & Chavo Guerrero and Kurt Angle versus The Undertaker in a No Disqualification match, also expected to be added to the card are a Paul London title defence, as well as MNM defending their tag team titles to one of three teams.

Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury minus Melina, collectively known as MNM will sit and watch with interest as three teams, The Dudley Boyz, The Hardcore Hotty Connection and The Basham Brothers will all compete in a three team tag match with the winners going on to face MNM this Sunday at the Great American Bash for the Tag Team Titles. Last week the Dudley Boyz returned to the action in the WWE and defeated The Basham Brothers in tag team action, after the match MNM hit the ring ready to attack the Dudley Boyz but it was foiled and Melina tasted wood with a 3-D. Nitro and Mercury will be on their own this week but will definitely want a piece of the Dudley Boyz!

Last week Shannon Moore had a change of heart suddenly when he went berserk and attacked Paul London following his successful title defence over Spike Dudley. Shannon Moore is believed to have found a manager to help make him the best Cruiserweight in the world and we wants to start by taking the title away from London either at SmackDown! Or the Great American Bash, and if London continues to refuse, Moore will continue to haunt London until he agrees and when he does, he will defeat him and realise his goal of being the Cruiserweight Champion!

Also Christian has been stirring trouble for the past few weeks insulting both Booker T and Orlando Jordan’s stereotyped culture. Christian may have bitten off more than he can chew however as General Manager, Teddy Long may have found a solution to shut the possible future United States champion up, and that is by putting him in a singles match with non other than Kane! Kane was on the receiving end of a loss to Kurt Angle last week after the Olympic Gold Medallist was attacked by none other than John Cena! Cena looking to avenge his hurt ankle went for the F-U on Angle but his ankle gave way, when he managed to stand up and was about to deliver it the number one contender John Bradshaw Layfield made his presence felt with a powerful Clothesline from Hell to his Great American Bash opponent.

WWE SmackDown! Results

July 28th 2005

The show opens up with Michael Cole repeatedly telling us that the Great American Bash is this Sunday! The crowd are hot for the upcoming show as the General Managers music begins to play and Teddy Long comes to the ring. He says how he is so proud to be General Manager of SmackDown! And that he can not wait for the Great American Bash, and just to show how happy he was he was going to add a match at the request of the champion, Paul London would defend his Cruiserweight Title at the Great American Bash and he would defend it against the man who attacked him last week, Shannon Moore. Teddy Long then hoped everyone would enjoy the final SmackDown! Of July and the final SmackDown! Before the Great American Bash!

The credits roll and the crowd begin to cheer loudly as SmackDown! Officially begins. After the opening sequence has ended we go to the ring where we hear Nunzio’s music beginning to play as he makes his way out to the ring closely followed by his manager, Ric Flair. Over the past two weeks since Nunzio was drafted to SmackDown! He has held an Invitational for anyone to try and beat him, so far he has defeated Kenzo Suzuki and Mark Jindrak taking just under fifteen minutes to do so. This time his opponent was Rene Dupree. Dupree would seem to prove a much stronger opponent than Jindrak or Suzuki and it showed as Nunzio couldn’t find an immediate opening against his French/Canadian opponent however he managed to take apart Rene Dupree’s right leg, Nunzio pretty much dominated from here on out and picked up the victory with the Figure Four Leg Lock as Dupree tapped out. After the match Nunzio gets up and Ric Flair begins to enter the ring but stops as Dupree attacks Nunzio from behind. Nunzio goes to the mat as Dupree stomps on him before going out for a chair, Flair tries to stop him but gets pushed to the ground as Dupree gets in the ring and swings the chair, Nunzio ducks it and tackles down Dupree. Nunzio bails out the ring and assists Flair as the two go to the back leaving Dupree angry in the ring, he throws the chair over the ropes in Nunzio’s direction. Dupree kicks the bottom rope in frustration as Nunzio and Flair disappear to the back.

Following the opening match which saw Nunzio move to an impressive 3-0 streak here on SmackDown! We go backstage where we see Booker T standing with Josh Matthews, when asked about Christian’s recent comments and attitude Booker T says that his attitude is always like this but his comments recently have been ‘out of whack’ but it was all just a little game from Christian to try and get inside his head. The Bookerman said that he wasn’t going to let Christian eat away inside of him before the match has even started and he might be able to break down a weak, rookies mind like Orlando Jordan but not Booker T’s because he is too experience to fall for a silly old trick like that. Christian better watch out tonight against Kane because Booker T is out on the prowl.

We then head to the ring where we see Steven Richards, Val Venis and Ivory standing in the ring. They are being booed but seem to be ignoring them as they begin to speak saying that today marks the beginning of their crusade to rid the WWE of rubbish. They have already targeted Al Snow and Heidenreich as the two men they want to remove from the company, they have spoke with Theodore Long earlier and have managed to convince him to set up a match next between Al Snow, Heidenreich and the Right to Censor representatives, Steven Richards and Val Venis.

Al Snow and Heidenreich made their way to the ring together to Al Snows music. Al Snow is speaking to him as they walk down giving him some pointers as the bell rings and both men get in the ring. Right to Censor stand tall in the middle of the ring as Al Snow and Heidenreich get in their faces. Right to Censor cheap shot their opponents to the mat and the match begins with Right to Censor dominating over the smaller Al Snow, they throw him into their corner and use the tried and tested heel tactics to isolate him and wear him down. Snow battles back and goes for the hot tag but Val Venis cuts him off with an elbow to the back as Heidenreich is left on the outside, eager to get in the ring. Al Snow eventually gets the tag and Heidenreich double clotheslines down his opponents, he manages to take advantage using big boots and clothesline until Venis blindsides him from behind with a forearm. Together the Right to Censor hit a Double DDT and go for the cover, 1...2...Al Snow is there to break it up. Richards and Venis look visibly angry because they thought they had finished off Snow already. Al Snow beats on them both until he falls to the numbers game and gets planted with the Stevie-T, Steven Richards covers but the referee says Heidenreich is the legal man. Heidenreich is standing behind Richards and Venis who turn into a big double clothesline from Heidenreich. Richards goes flying to the outside as Venis gets nailed with the Whiplash Powerbomb and Heidenreich covers for the victory. After the match Heidenreich and Al Snow get dropped by Dual Chair Shots as Ivory barks out orders to her men from the outside as the Right to Censor leave to the back smiling with Al Snow and Heidenreich down on the mat.

Following the tag team contest we go backstage where we see Los Guerrero’s standing with Josh Matthews. They are asked on the thoughts of the upcoming match at the Great American Bash between them and Rey Mysterio and his partner, Juventud. The Guerrero’s tell Matthews to get lost and push him away as the start to rip into Mysterio and Juventud, the crowd boo as Eddie says that he will finally ‘end’ Rey Mysterio like he has been trying to do for the past few months. Eddie says how this Sunday he will finally be able to get his hands on Rey Mysterio and break him in half, and if Juventud gets in his way, well, Nephew Chavo is always then to ‘remove’ him out of the way because no one will come between Eddie and Mysterio, their business is… personal.

We then head elsewhere backstage where we see John Bradshaw Layfield, he says Mr. Theodore Long is wise not to put him or John Cena in a match tonight, nor Kurt Angle or The Undertaker to keep everyone in top shape for the Great American Bash. Bradshaw said that it was a shame for Cena though, because when Bradshaw is in top shape, he can not be stopped. He then said that the Great American Bash would see a true Great American recapture the World title at the same Pay Per View he did last time and that Cena doesn’t deserve the title because he is not a Great American like Bradshaw. Bradshaw spent the remainder of the interview talking about his accomplishments and why he is a Great American, and why Cena is not.

Following Bradshaw’s speech we head to the ring for the Tag Team match. The Dudley Boyz make their appearance to some good cheers from the fans, the Basham Brothers get booed on their way to the ring and the Hardcore Hotty Connection get a decent pop from the crowd. The match rules are that just two men are in the ring at one time. The match was pretty fast and furious with no one holding back on anyone as the Basham Brothers refused to get in the ring having the Dudleyz and the Hardcore Hotty Connection wear each other down, when they thought it was time the Basham Brothers tagged themselves in and rolled up Scotty but only got a 2 count to their surprise. The Dudleyz appeared and began beating down the Basham Brothers. The match was complete mayhem with the crowd enjoying parts of it but the match itself was complete anarchy which ended when the Basham’s double teamed Hardcore Holly on the outside and Scotty 2 Hotty fell victim to the 3-D! The crowd cheered as the Dudleyz would face MNM on Sunday for the titles. After the match MNM appeared on the entrance way and had a stare down with the number one contenders, the Dudley Boyz.

We then head backstage where we see Nunzio and Ric Flair standing in Theodore Long’s room. Ric Flair says how Nunzio isn’t getting a challenge from the three opponents he’s face today, combined they have barely totalled twenty minutes against him. Flair says that Nunzio wants a challenge, and a real challenge. Theodore Long ponders for a few moments and then a smile comes to his face. He says that he has been speaking to someone about a possible brief return to SmackDown! To do some advertising work but he could maybe consider him to get into the ring. In fact, Long said that he knew he would get in the ring as he owed him a favour from quite a while ago. He told Nunzio and Flair just to turn up at the Great American Bash and get ready for the biggest challenge of his life. Nunzio and Flair smiled, shook hands with Long and left the General Managers room.

We then head to the ring where we see Kane making his way to the ring, after his entrance Christian then makes his way to the ring with a cocky smirk on his face. He smiles as he circles the ring and then climbs in as the bell rings signalling the start of the match, Kane quickly attacks Christian with body punches and then a throat thrust which sends Christian hurtling back into the turnbuckle. Kane opens up with some more strikes as Christian thumbs him in the eye and attacks Kane from there. Christian takes the advantage thanks to those dastardly tactics and he starts to attack Kane with all he has but Kane doesn’t seem to be feeling much of it. Kane comes back with a chop to Christian who holds his chest in pain and runs around comically and then straight into a big boot from Kane. Kane signals for a choke slam but Christian bails out of the ring, and begins walking up the ramp, the referee begins the count but Kane gives chase and attacks Christian from behind. He brings him back to the ring and rolls him in and climbs in himself, Christian takes him down with a take down when Booker T comes running down the aisle and into the ring! The crowd cheer as Christian turns around into a calf kick from Booker T to the mat, Christian tries to get up but gets hit with the scissors kick and Christian has been declared winner through disqualification. Booker T continues to assault Christian as Orlando Jordan appears on the stage smiling slightly, he has his title over his shoulder and begins laughing as he watches one of his opponents on Sunday get maimed. Suddenly Kane snaps and grabs Booker T by the throat…and sends him to hell with a choke slam! The crowd give a mixed reaction as Orlando Jordan begins laughing heartedly.

Bradshaw then joined Jordan on the ramp, Bradshaw begins saying how Orlando is laughing because both his opponents on Sunday have been completely destroyed just three days before the Great American Bash. Booker T obviously isn’t that smart because he just got his ass handed to him by Kane. Bradshaw then turns his attention to John Cena and says that this Sunday he will once again lose his title to the true Great American and just like last year John Bradshaw Layfield will walk out of the Great American Bash crowned WWE Champion!

John Cena =O= versus John Bradshaw Layfield

John Cena and John Bradshaw Layfield have been at each others necks all year long, John Cena captured the World Championship when he defeated Layfield at Wrestlemania 21. All month long Cena and Bradshaw have been trying to get one over on the other and it seems that Bradshaw has the upper hand going into the Bash. Three weeks ago on SmackDown! Thanks to Kurt Angle almost snapping John Cena’s ankle. The following week Cena attempted to F-U Angle but his Ankle gave way, Cena battled on and was about to connect with the F-U when Layfield hit the ring and took out Cena with a clothesline from hell. Cena did not appear on Thursday at SmackDown! Due to not being cleared to appear by doctors however he says he is rested and ready and raring to go this Sunday at the Great American Bash.

Orlando Jordan =O= versus Christian versus Booker T

People keep seeming to forget that this match is for the United States title. The past few weeks it has been Booker T and Christian non stop with Orlando Jordan barely getting a look in, Jordan reminded us all two weeks ago that he was in fact the United States champion and deserved to be shown a bit more respect, especially from Christian who’s comments towards his and Booker T’s heritage are somewhat questionable. Christian has referred to both Booker T and Orlando Jordan as “ghetto trash” over the past couple of weeks and may be forced to pay at the Bash when he steps in the ring with both men in triple threat action. Booker T said last week that he was not going to let Christian eat away at his mind but evidently he did when eh interfered in his match and ended up being choke slammed by Kane as Jordan watched from the ramp, laughing. Christian and Booker T may be so consumed with each other that Jordan can managed to pick up the victory and retain the United States title.

Kurt Angle versus The Undertaker

This match seemed to come out of the blue when ‘Taker announced that he wanted to ‘end’ Kurt Angle as well as Bradshaw. Kurt Angle took exception to this and he and ‘Taker have been at it for the past few weeks. Both men participated in the Number One Contenders match which also involved John Bradshaw Layfield who obviously went on to win. The following week Kurt Angle was definitely in a sour mood as he nearly broke Kane, John Cena’s and The Undertakers ankle with his dread ankle lock. It would seem that the hatred between the two stems from that but there’s a suspicion going around that no matter who wins this match, this could be far from over.

Los Guerrero’s, Eddie & Chavo Guerrero versus Rey Mysterio & Juventud

Juventud debuted at the start of the month picking up the win over unknown Luchadore, El Crazio. Since then Eddie, Chavo, Rey and Juvi have not been permitted to lay a finger on either of their opponents since the Bash but that hasn’t stopped all four of them going at it in a war of words. Unlike Angle and ‘Taker this feud is nearing it’s end with Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero always at each others throats but Rey Mysterio always seems to come out on top. With Eddie Guerrero wanting to destroy Rey Mysterio, will he accomplish his goals at the Great American Bash?

Paul London =O= versus Shannon Moore w/ ???

Paul London felt he was being deprived on being put on television and only made one appearance on SmackDown! Throughout the entire month where he retained his Cruiserweight title against Spike Dudley. Following the match Shannon Moore viciously attacked the champion obviously sending a message to Paul London. On Thursday, Theodore Long announced that Paul London would defend his Cruiserweight title against Shannon Moore who would debut his manager at the Bash. Can London defeat Moore like he has so many other workers or is Moore destined to become Cruiserweight champion?

MNM, Johnny Nitro & Joey Mercury w/ Melina =O= =O= versus The Dudley Boyz, Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley

MNM were on the receiving end of a brutal beat down by the returning Dudley Boyz two weeks ago when Melina was driven through a table with a 3-D by the Dudley Boyz. On Thursday the Dudley Boyz defeated the Hardcore Hotty Connection and The Basham Brothers in a number one contenders match, following the match Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro had a stare down with the Dudley Boyz. It is uncertain whether Melina will accompany the Tag Team champions to the ring on Sunday or not but MNM will definitely be focussed on retaining the titles.

Nunzio w/ Ric Flair versus ???

For the past three weeks Ric Flair and Nunzio have laid down a challenge for anyone to attempt to beat Nunzio, Flair’s new protégé and each and every week for three weeks challenger after challenger after challenger has been disposed of. The first victim of Nunzio was Kenzo Suzuki who fell to the Figure Four Leg Lock, the next victim was Mark Jindrak who was defeated with the jujigatame and last Thursday, Rene Dupree fell by the waste side as he was defeated by Nunzio’s Figure Four Leg Lock. On Thursday Ric Flair claimed that no one could come close to Nunzio right now, three wrestlers combined had lasted around 21 minutes with him and these were established wrestlers too. But Long knew someone who would give Nunzio a huge test and has persuaded him to return to the ring for a one time deal to take on Nunzio.

Velocity Main Event

Val Venis w/ Steven Richards & Ivory versus Al Snow w/ Heidenreich

Since being traded to SmackDown! Val Venis and Steven Richards have reformed the Right to Censor, a stable dedicated to removing rubbish from the WWE. They have declared Al Snow and Heidenreich ‘rubbish’ and are amidst trying to remove them from the WWE but last week their plan backfired when Heidenreich pinned Val Venis. This week on Velocity’s main event we will see Val Venis go one on one with Al Snow. Venis will have the rest of the Right to Censor in his corner - Steven Richards and Ivory - whereas Al Snow will have his new found friend, Heidenreich there to accompany him.

WWE CHAMPIONSHIP

John Cena =O= versus JBL

Cena's not dropping the strap this early, especially back to JBL.

UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP

Orlando Jordan =O= versus Christian versus Booker T

I was going to say Christian but I've changed my mind. Jordan picks up the win via a roll-up or something fluky after Christian & Booker are pre-occupied with one another.

NO DISQUALIFICATION

Kurt Angle versus The Undertaker

Angle picks up the win in this one, I just can't see Taker winning unless Kane possibly interferes or something to that effect.

Los Guerrero’s, Eddie & Chavo Guerrero versus Rey Mysterio & Juventud

Eddie finally gets his win over Mysterio and moves on to other things.

CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Paul London =O= versus Shannon Moore w/ ???

I think the manager will get involved and somehow cost London the match.

TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

MNM, Johnny Nitro & Joey Mercury w/ Melina =O= =O= versus The Dudley Boyz, Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley

MNM cheat to keep the tag titles with them for the time being.

NUNZIO INVITATIONAL

Nunzio w/ Ric Flair versus ???

I think Nunzio comtinues his streak over whoever it is...unless it's Brock Lesnar, then I've fucked up.

VELOCITY MAIN EVENT

Val Venis w/ Steven Richards & Ivory versus Al Snow w/ Heidenreich

I can see Heidenreich possibly turning on Snow here, leading to the pinfall victory.

Jericho Is The Number One Contender…But At What Cost?

Last week on WWE RAW Chris Jericho let the world know that he truly was the number one contender for the World Championship when he locked in the Walls of Jericho on Batista following Batista’s tag team victory over Evolution. However now it seems as though Jericho’s number one contender spot may be in jeopardy and that is if he fails to defeat Chris Benoit this week on RAW, Chris Benoit faces him again next week with the number one Contendership being on the line! So Jericho may have bitten off more than he can chew because he’s ticked off Batista, and he might not be the number one contender in two weeks!

Speaking of Batista, the World Heavyweight champion isn’t scheduled for action tonight but is scheduled to appear on the Intercontinental Champion’s, Carlito’s Cabana to discuss being the World Heavyweight champion and his opinions on some wrestlers, specifically Triple H and Chris Jericho as well as more. Batista won the World Heavyweight title from Triple H at WrestleMania 21 at the beginning of April and may now have to defend it at SummerSlam against either Chris Jericho or Chris Benoit. Don’t miss Carlito’s Cabana this week!

Also last week on RAW, La Resistance, Sylvain Grenier and Rob Conway told us that they would have a new tag team to face this week on RAW in the shape of Tyson Tomko and a young worker named ‘Kash’. Tyson Tomko is believed to have turned over a new leaf since the now United States champion, Christian departed to SmackDown! Meaning no one was left to boss Tomko around, he has found a wrestler by the name of Kash and together they have entered the Tag Team division with their first task La Resistance. It won’t be an easy task but if Kash has talent like his partner, then there is no reason why the duo can’t pull off the win on Monday night!

Also over the past few weeks Billy Kidman and Tajiri have been at each others throats, last week Tajiri pinned Kidman in tag team action. These two will be in the arena for RAW but no word on whether they will be in action though. Also, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin have had their altercations over this past month with Haas costing Benjamin the Intercontinental title. Followed by Haas accidentally losing him and Benjamin a tag team match, Haas refused to take the blame for the tag team incident and Haas was sent to stop Edge but following a shot with the briefcase Haas fell short. This week Shelton Benjamin will take on Edge himself in singles action to see if he can avenge his friends loss.

RAW Confirmed Matches

Chris Jericho versus Chris Benoit

La Resistance, Sylvain Grenier & Rob Conway versus Kash & Tyson Tomko

Shelton Benjamin w/ Charlie Haas versus Edge

Alexis Laree Released

Alexis Laree has been released from her contract within the WWE. Alexis Laree had been working within Ohio Valley Wrestling for a long time whilst being contracted with the WWE however she stated she would no longer report to Danny Davis at Ohio for training and that she felt it was time to work with the WWE mainstream however the WWE were not convinced she was good enough to wrestler a solid match with any other women, nor could she speak particularly well meaning she would have to sit on the roster and do nothing while getting paid. The WWE were not going to allow her to do that, she was reported to have an attitude problem in that she thought she was too good for Ohio, before her attitude problem spiralled out of control.

The WWE wish Alexis good luck in future endeavours.

I've just read through the whole thing, I'll comment show-by-show.

RAW - July 4th

Haas' win over Masters was a bit too easy IMO, Masters should have been shown as being stronger, but I understand why you portrayed it like that if you wanted to get rid of Masters quickly. It also builds Haas up as a great wrestler.

Kidman on RAW is cool, nice feud starting to build between him and Tajiri.

I love the team of Shawn Michaels and RVD, would be good if they could become a regular team.

It would have been good to feud Haas and Shelton by it being a friendly feud, seeing who's the better athlete (and then, if you want, build it to more than just a friendly rivalry).

SD! - July 7th

Bringing Right To Censor back, I like, as I couldn't see anything else for Stevie or Val to do besides job on Velocity.

I'm enjoying Los Guerreros back as a team, hopefully they'll stay that way for a while longer.

Unsure about Flair choosing Nunzio.

Not too keen on the idea of a Cena/JBL rematch.

RAW - July 11th

Triple H and Randy Orton teaming again isn't very realistic (if that's what your going for - realism). Unless 3H recruits some new Evolution members, I could see the 'Evolution' group getting old quickly.

SD! - July 14th

I didn't like Christian slightly returning to his Un-American gimmick by bashing USA, as there's plenty of other chances for that (see: La Resistance, Dupree, Hassan).

RAW - July 18th

It's really good to see Jericho win the battle royal and be in title contention again. Heel Jericho -

SD! - July 21st

I like Angle standing up to 'Taker and Kane and not being scared, running away etc. I think it builds Angle's character well instead of him being 'all talk'.

I'm starting to like this Nunzio/Flair combination, it's unique and you could go far with it.

I didn't like the Dudleyz putting Melina through a table. To build up a better rivalry, you could have had the Dudleyz attempting to put each member of MNM through a table each week and drag it out a month or two, eventually ending up putting Melina through a table (and possibly winning the tag titles).

RAW - July 25th

I'm guessing La Resistance will go against Tomko and Kash on the next RAW? Interesting team of Kash and Tomko, I'll be following that.

I didn't think it was very 'Regal-like' shoving a protein bar down Kidman's throat - after all he is a gentleman :P

SD! - July 28th

The Nunzio Invitational is one of my favourite things in the diary now. Long making a surprise challenger for GAB is cool.

GAB

I liked Shamrock's return, but he seems to be some sort of a glorified jobber losing to Nunzio, I would have liked Shamrock to win his return match, but then again it would have hurt Nunzio's new credibility.

I'm not keen on Shannon Moore as Cruiserweight Champion, would prefer London to stay champ. I hope this rivalry continues, though.

Los Guerreros winning I didn't expect, but I liked it. I hope they stay as a team for a while.

MNM beating the Dudleyz gets them recognition as a great tag team.

I like Christian winning the U.S. Title and I hope Orlando is out of the picture now. A short feud between Booker and Christian wouldn't be too bad.

I'm loving the Angle/'Taker feud, glad Angle won. I'm interested to see where you take this from here.

Bah. JBL champ again. I hope you can change my mind and make me like JBL as the champion. If you can, you'll be a genius (Y)

Should have had more face wins, as you pointed out you had a lot of heels winning. A little pre-planning would be beneficial for your PPVs IMO.

Tip: I'd read through some of your stuff before you post it. A couple of things didn't make sense to me, whether they were a typo or you just got confused, I don't know, but a quick proof-read wouldn't go amiss.

Overall, I've enjoyed the diary so far and am interested to see where you take certain things, especially Nunzio/Flair and JBL's title reign.

Keep it going (Y)

RAW begins in usual fashion, we here ‘I’m Back’ played across the speakers and the crowd begin to boo for the General Manager of RAW. Eric Bischoff makes his way out from behind the curtain and walks down to the ring, he climbs in the ring and takes a microphone.

Eric Bischoff: "Please, just for the love of God, shut up for once. Every week I make an announcement and unless it involves your precious Batista you boo me. Each and every week, I can’t step foot anywhere without you booing me and why? Simply because I’m the General Manager and I do what’s best for RAW. If something doesn’t fit your views then you complain, well not everything in life can go the way you want it to, sometimes you have no control over the outcome however hard you try. You booed when Chris Jericho won the twenty man battle royal, then I give Chris Benoit a shot at taking the number one contenders spot away from Jericho, and when I show my face tonight I get booed. Well it’s not as if I haven’t grown used to it because it happens every week. However, I need to get down to business now, your incessant booing has thrown me off track. So, tonight we already have Chris Jericho taking on Chris Benoit, and Shelton Benjamin taking on Edge, however there’s something missing, and you guessed what it is, The Game, Triple H. No, not Batista, Batista will not be wrestling tonight but he will be making an appearance on the Cabana later tonight. So tonight, we’re going to have Triple H and Randy Orton, teaming together as Evolution to take on the team of Shawn Michaels and Mr. Monday Night, Rob…Van…Dam! That’s right, and that will happen later tonight. Thank you for your time."

‘I’m Back’ hits on the speakers again as Eric Bischoff climbs out of the ring. He throws the microphone back into the ring and steps down the steel steps, he struts back up the ramp and to the back. Eric Bischoff has made an announcement, he has made Evolution versus Shawn Michaels and Rob Van Dam for later tonight.

The credits roll and we go back to ringside where we here La Resistance’s music begin to play. Sylvain Grenier and Rob Conway come down to the ring waving a French flag and the Quebec flag. They climb into the ring and pick up the microphone that Eric Bischoff dropped just before.

Robert Conway: "We…are La Resistance, and we ask, no, no, we demand that you show us some respect!" [Crowd boos] "I see, you continue to boo us because of what we believe in. That is typical of you American’s to boo us because we believe that we are unjustly treated here in America, you all make me sick and this is the exact reason I became a French sympathiser. I do not allow moronic fools like you to boo people for their beliefs, it’s prejudice but then again, this is America. We are unaccepted because of our opinions, shut out from society. Well, when you shut us out, we will stamp you out! You can’t get away with what you do, it’s wrong and we will not stand for it. This new team of Tyson Tomko and Kash do not scare us one bit. Nothing scares us because we are La Resistance, former tag team champions and we are destined to hold the titles again, this new team, they have probably never wrestled together as a team so why should we be afraid of talent less, prejudice Americans exactly? There is no reason. Now bring out our victims!"

Rob Conway passes the microphone to the referee who removes it from the ring as the music of Tyson Tomko starts off and he leads out his new partner, Kash. Everyone awaits to see what Kash looks like, expecting another mammoth like Tomko however Kash stands at a mere 5’ 9" and weighs in at little over 200lbs. They new tag team make their way to the ring and climb in but are instantly ambushed by La Resistance. Conway and Tomko start off the match with Conway technically trying to take apart Tomko but Tomko’s brute strength allows him to absorb damage and still inflict it himself. Tomko finally tags out to Kash allowing him to make his debut and he does it in style with a springboard dropkick to Grenier, Conway enters the ring to attack him but Kash nails him with a jumping hurricanrana. The crowd pop for the new sensation who runs up to the turnbuckle and jumps off hitting a moonsault to Conway, 1...2...Kickout. Kash quickly gets up and hit’s a standing moonsault onto Grenier as Tomko gets up, Kash signals to him and Kash runs at Tomko, Tomko hoists him up into the air and Kash hit’s a flying senton bomb to Conway. Tomko picks up Grenier and throws him out of the ring as Kash covers Conway for the three count and victory. The newly formed tag team of Tyson Tomko and Kash celebrate in the middle of the ring until La Resistance ambush them with the flags. They hit them across the back of Tomko and Kash who go flying into the ropes, La Resistance whip their opponents off the ropes but Tomko nails Conway with a big boot and Kash hit’s a spinning heel kick to Grenier. Tomko and Kash have not only defeated La Resistance but survived an after match attack as well.

After the match has finished we go backstage where we see William Regal, Tajiri and Eugene Dinsmore all backstage. They are all dressed in non wrestling gear, in particularly Regal is wearing a suit.

William Regal: "Well boys, we don’t have to worry about anything tonight. No wrestling for all three of us, sure is good to get away from it all for a bit. I sure do miss those Tag Team titles though, but, can’t helped."

Eugene Dinsmore: "Me want to wrestle Mr. Regal. Why can’t I wrestle?"

William Regal: "Well young lad you haven’t been scheduled to wrestle. In fact, I only remember you wrestling once last month and that was in the battle royal"

Eugene Dinsmore: "I don’t think Uncle Eric likes me Mr. Regal. I don’t ever get to wrestle."

William Regal: "Well son, he is a very busy man and there is a lot happening on RAW. Maybe he just can’t fit you in to wrestle, since we lost our titles we haven’t had anything to do either. Not entirely strange, don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll get a match sometime soon. Why not just sit back and enjoy the rest of RAW young lad?”

Following William Regal and Eugene Dinsmore’s discussion backstage we go back to the ring where Carlito’s Cabana is set up. Carlito Cool makes his way out to the ring where all his things are set up, he climbs in the ring as the crowd boo him, he holds his Intercontinental title tightly. He takes a microphone from the announcer.

Carlito Cool: “Hello and welcome to Carlito’s Cabana once again, and we will get straight down to the business, man. So, introducing the World Heavyweight champion, this man is indeed cool, welcoming…Batista!”

Batista comes down to the ring much to the appreciation of the crowd, Carlito takes an apple from his basket and takes a bite of his apple, Batista climbs into the ring and takes a seat on one of the chairs after shaking hands with Carlito.

Carlito Cool: “Welcome to the Cabana, Batista. Now, if you don’t mind I’ll just ask…”

As he is talking Batista takes an apple from Carlito’s basket and takes a bite out of it. Carlito looks disgusted as he looks Batista up and down.

Carlito Cool: “Dude, don’t eat Carlito’s apples man, that’s not cool!”

Batista looks at him and takes another bite of it. Carlito shakes his head in disgust and continues.

Carlito Cool: “Anyways, Batista, what’s your thoughts on Jericho being the number one contender for your title?”

Batista places the apple down on the table and takes the microphone, he cracks a slight smile and begins to speak.

Batista: “Why do I have to have a thought on Jericho, because he’s my number one contender, because he’s my opponent at SummerSlam? No. I don’t. Jericho will fall to me just like Triple H has done everytime. Triple H can’t beat me and neither can Chris Jericho. You see Carly, I am probably the most powerful, most dominant World champion RAW will ever see. I don’t lose my title every couple of months and then win it back again a few months later like Triple H, and I most certainly don’t become the first ever champion and then wilt away like Chris Jericho. You see, I’d much rather win the title once and hold it for a long time, like I will, than win it, lose it, win it, lose it, or in Jericho’s case win it…then lose it and then disappear from the scene completely. Jericho can’t win the title off anyone else, what make’s him think he can win it off me?”

Suddenly the countdown appears on the titantron and out from the back come Chris Jericho and he does not look happy. He quickly gets down to business.

Chris Jericho: “Wait one damn second Batista. You come out here and run your mouth like you’re some kind of Greek God. What sort of fantasy do you live in Batista, wake up and smell the coffee, I am Y2J Chris Jericho, I am King…of the Woooorld and if you think for one second that come SummerSlam you will beat me then you really need to reconsider your option, ass clown!”

Batista gets up from his chair and walks towards the ropes that face the entrance way.

Batista: “Is that it Chris? Is that your threat over? I have to reconsider your options, I’m right, you’re a man of words and nothing else, you can’t back up your statements because you always fail to deliver. I, on the other hand, know when to speak the truth and I will do that right now when I say that at SummerSlam I am going to kick your ass!”

Chris Jericho: “You fail to see something Batista, I don’t talk the talk, and then walk the walk. I don’t need to back up my statements with actions, I back up my actions with statements. Last week when RAW finished I think I heard the sound of Batista in pain. Can I just get clarification on that please?”

Jericho turns his attention to the titantron where we see last week on RAW where Jericho has the Walls of Jericho locked in on Batista after the main event.

Chris Jericho: “So who’s laughing now ass clown? Come SummerSlam you are going to receive the same punishment as you did last week at the hands of the sexy beast Chris Jericho. At SummerSlam I will hear you screaming in pain, but at SummerSlam I will also hear the sound ‘tap…tap…tap’ that’s right Batista, you’ll be tapping out to my Walls of Jericho and I will once again become World Heavyweight champion.”

Batista: “Woah, woah, woah, Chris hold on one second. Are you referring to when you ambushed me last week? Oh yeah, I believe you are. When you snuck up behind me and attacked me after a match, THAT’S what you’re referring to. When we fight at SummerSlam it’s going to be straight up, one on one…that is, if you make it to SummerSlam because Chris, maybe you just head off now because don’t you have a match with Chris Benoit and it seems like you’re a little too focussed on me, and not on Benoit. I know Benoit, Benoit could absolutely torch you in a match, he could set you on fire because he’s the Rabid Wolverine. So Chris, once your number one contenders spot is safe and secure, THEN you can come trash talk me, but until then please…don’t bark up my tree, because I have a nasty bite!”

Chris Jericho: “Is that supposed to be a threat Batista? Is that supposed to scare me?”

Batista: “Chris…consider it a promise!”

Batista tosses the microphone to the ground as we fade out to a commercial with Jericho and Batista staring each other down while Carlito stands in the ring eating an apple.

When we return to the ring we hear ‘You think you know me’ and the Money in the Bank winner comes running out onto the stage to boos from the fans. He comes running down the ramp and pushes his briefcase into the ring, he rolls into the ring and picks up the briefcase. He raises the briefcase in the air and smiles cockily before passing the briefcase to the referee, he takes off his trench coat as Shelton Benjamin comes out to the ring with Charlie Haas behind him, Benjamin gets into the ring and Haas waits on the outside. Edge attacks Benjamin straight away to begin the match, Edge opens up with a few strikes to Benjamin, taking him to the mat, Edge continues to be unrelenting with his attack beating down Benjamin with big strikes. Edge pulls up Benjamin but Benjamin begins to turn the tide in his favour hitting chops galore on Edge who gets backed into the corner. The crowd cheer on Benjamin who takes down Edge with an Exploder Suplex but only gets a two count from it. Edge gets up and Benjamin tries to keep the advantage going but Edge blocks a right hand and hits some of his own, Edge takes down Benjamin with a snap suplex and covers, 1...2...kickout from Benjamin. Haas on the outside tries to cheer on Benjamin, getting the crowd going as he hit’s the mat. Benjamin gets up and throws Edge to the outside, Haas backs away to keep the fight fair and Benjamin slides the outside but Edge catches him with an eye poke. Haas complains to the referee but the referee didn’t see it happen, Edge pushes Benjamin in the ring and stutter steps at Haas pretending to hit him. Edge walks over to Haas and pushes him in the face to the floor as the referee tends to Benjamin, Haas gets up and stops Edge from getting in the ring. He confronts him but Edge tries to hit him and Haas blocks it, Haas smashes Edge’s head off the apron and then throws him into the steel steps, the referee sees this however and calls for the bell disqualifying Benjamin. Haas comes to the realisation of what he’s done and lets out a brief scream of rage, Haas just can’t seem to catch a break anymore. Benjamin looks on from the ring and shouts at Haas.

Haas slides in the ring looking sorry as Benjamin shakes his head and calls for a microphone.

Shelton Benjamin: “Damn it Charlie, I just can’t stand this anymore! Everytime I do something you manage to screw it up, every damn time. The intercontinental title loss was your fault, the tag team match the next week was your fault, you didn’t beat Edge last week and now you stopped me from beating him this week, damn it Charlie you’re just a pathetic excuse for a friend.”

Haas takes a microphone for himself and replies.

Charlie Haas: “Now Shelton, wait one damn minute, what you didn’t see is Edge attack me. You didn’t see him push me to the floor, you didn’t seem him try and punch me, what did you see exactly? Me throw him into the steel steps? Yes, it got you disqualified but damn it Shelton, I’m not going to let someone assault me and get away with it, not for you, not for anyone!”

Shelton Benjamin: “You know how this could have been avoided Charlie? Simple. If you stayed in the back! Stop following me, stop trying to do everything for me because your nothing but a failure Charlie. So much of a failure that I want you a match at SummerSlam, just to prove who the better wrestler is.”

Charlie Haas: “I’m not going to fight you Shelton. I’m not going to fight you at SummerSlam, I’m not going to fight you tonight, next week, not ever, and why? You don’t deserve the time of day from me Shelton, you call yourself a friend but the simple fact is that you’re not because no matter how hard I try, no matter what I do Shelton, you always complain. There is no pleasing you, I’ve told you I’m sorry but what do you expect me to do when someone attacks me? Stand there and take it for your sake? No, I won’t. No matter who it is, but maybe it’s best I didn’t because despite me trying to be your friend, you’ve done nothing to in return, ever.”

Shelton Benjamin exit’s the ring and walks over to the time keeper, he takes something that looks like a pair of scissors from a small desk and walks back to the ring. He holds them in his left hand and the microphone in his right hand.

Shelton Benjamin: “You know what Charlie, I am sick to death of your sob stories now. If you’re not going to accept to a match at SummerSlam, then I’m going to make you accept the battle, I’m going to do something to you that you couldn’t imagine, but I know you too well, and this is the only way I can get you to accept to a match with me.”

Haas looks puzzled but Benjamin absolutely clocks him with the microphone as the crowd look on in shock. Benjamin drops to his knees and uses the scissors to cut off Haas’ wristbands that had ‘Russ’ written on them. Those in the crowd that understand what those wristbands mean begin to boo as others sit on and watch. Benjamin looks at the wristband and throws it into the mat, he places his foot on it and begins to grind it into the ground. Benjamin picks up the microphone again as he exit’s the ring.

Shelton Benjamin: “There, how’s that Charlie? Now what do you say?”

Benjamin smirks as he backs up the ramp, Haas comes to the realisation of what has happened and goes over to his destroy wristband. He looks at it as a tear rolls down his eye, he picks up his microphone.

Charlie Haas: “Shelton, you damn son of a bitch! You haven’t just insulted me, you haven’t just insulted dear Russ in heaven, you have insulted every single Haas on this damn planet! Shelton, I’ll see you at SummerSlam match, but you know what, I’m going to prove to you just how great I am, I am going to take you on in a thirty minute Iron Man Match! Shelton, what you done today is a wake up call to me that I can no longer trust anyone, I thought I could trust you as my best friend, well no longer! No longer will I work with another person, I am on my own from here on out. Damn it Shelton, I am going to kill you!”

Haas puts his head in his hands as Benjamin stands at the top of the ramp, smirking as we fade out to a commercial break.

When we come back from the commercial break we see Evolution make their entrance to boos from the crowd. Orton and Triple H come down to the ring, they taunt the crowd and both climb into the ring and continue taunting the crowd while smiling. After their entrance Shawn Michaels made his usual entrance, coming down to the ring he waited at the bottom the ramp when suddenly Rob Van Dam’s music hit and the crowd go crazy much like they did for Michaels. RVD gets to the bottom of the ramp and the two charge into the ring going face to face with Evolution. The bell rings and Michaels and Orton start the match, Michaels matched the younger Orton in everyway until Orton blindsided him and he and Triple H used quick tags to keep each other fresh while wearing down Michaels. Evolution continued to isolate Michaels as Triple H nailed him with his patented high knee, just as Orton called for the RKO, Michaels flipped him over his back and dived, making the tag to RVD. Van Dam took down Orton with a step over heel kick and Triple with a springboard cross body! The crowd ate up RVD instantly as he continued to wow the crowd with his high risk moves. Triple H and Orton were about to be cross bodied but the duo caught RVD in mid-flight and planted him with a massive backbreaker. The crowd booed but they turned to cheers as Triple H turned around and ate a sweet chin music from Michaels! Orton looked at his fallen partner and turned to face Michaels, Michaels went for a sweet chin music but Orton ducked. RKO! RKO on Michaels! 1...2...3! Orton has pinned Michaels and picked up the victory for Evolution. Orton then leaves the ring by himself, Triple H comes to his senses and sees Orton standing on the stage, he climbs out of the ring and begins to walk to him but Orton turns around and walks away.

We cut backstage where we see Orton walking away, he goes down some steel steps as his footsteps echo around the arena. Triple H runs after him, he puts his hand on Orton’s shoulder but Orton shrugs him off.

Triple H: “What are you doing Randy? Why are you walking away from me?”

Orton stops at the bottom of the steps, he turns around at Triple H.

Randy Orton: “Don’t you see Hunter? Don’t you see that I’m better than you? I just pinned Shawn Michaels, I’ve defeated legends like Mick Foley and Jerry Lawler, I’ve nailed wrestlers like Harley Race with my patented RKO. I have defeated World champions like Batista and I have beaten you. What more do I have to prove? I’m the youngest World champion ever at 25...”

Triple H: “But let’s see shall we Randy, hmm, let me think. Who made you? Me. Who brought you into Evolution? Me. Who cut your World title reign short of a month? Me. Randy, I don’t understand where you get off saying you’re better than me because I am the Game, I have done it all, injured myself and done it all again. You aren’t better than me Randy. The match you beat me in was complete mayhem, everyone from the elimination chamber interfered in that match, you can hardly call that a victory over me. To truly beat me you have to pin my shoulders to the mat for three seconds, or make me submit without help from anyone else.”

Randy Orton: “I got just as much help as you did Hunter. It evened out in the end, but I pinned you. We both had the same amount of help as each other yet I beat you, I put your shoulders to the mat 1, 2, 3. Don’t get me wrong Hunter, you’re a legend, you’re an icon in this company, the fact is just that I’m better than you. I am better than Evolution ever was, you keep trying to revive it Hunter, but give up. Hell, give up on wrestling all together because with me around and no longer on your side you can’t aspire past me. I mean, I still hate the fans who have done nothing for me, but Hunter, you’re just not worthy of teaming with me anymore. I’ve surpassed you on the ladder, you can’t beat me anymore. Think about that will ya?”

Orton pats him on the shoulder and walks away, he gets into a limousine which drives away leaving Triple H glaring at the car as it pulls out of the arena.

After Randy Orton’s and Triple H’s little altercation in the parking lot, we go to the ring where we are just in time to see Jericho’s entrance. The countdown goes off and the pyrotechnics explode as the number one contender makes his way out to the ring. After his long entrance, ‘Whatever’ by Our Lady Peace and the crowd begin to go wild as Chris Benoit makes his way to the ring! He quickly enters the ring and goes face to face with Jericho, the bell rings and the two luck up. Benoit goes behind with a waist lock but Jericho reverses it, the two divulge in some chain wrestling until Benoit hit’s a nice German suplex to Jericho and bridges for the pin, 1...2...kickout. Jericho isn’t going down this early on, he gets up and takes Benoit down with a dropkick and quickly tries to put on his Walls of Jericho but Benoit kicks Jericho off him and gets to the ropes. The two lock up again as neither can be split at all until Jericho pokes Benoit in the eye take advantage of the match, the crowd boo as Jericho dropkicks Benoit who crushes the referee in the turnbuckle, Jericho swings at Benoit but misses and Benoit takes him down, Crippler Crossface! Jericho is in the crippler crossface! Jericho is tapping out but there is no referee, Benoit finally lets go as he checks on the referee, Jericho rolls out of the ring and gets a steel chair! He slides in the ring and the crowd boo as Benoit fails in his attempt to revive the referee and turns around into a chair shot from Jericho! The crowd go into a frenzy of boos as Jericho tosses the chair to the outside and helps revive the referee himself, he drops down for a cover and after a prolonged wait the referee counts the pinfall, 1...2...kickout! Jericho can’t believe what just happened, Benoit just kicked out and Jericho is completely in shock. The referee goes back to nursing his injured ribs as Jericho grabs Benoit’s legs. Benoit struggles free from the hold and rolls up Jericho into a small package, 1...2...kickout! Jericho pops up and looks angry as he tries to take out Benoit with a wild clothesline but suffers the same fate as before as he misses and Benoit locks in the Crippler Crossface! Jericho taps! Jericho is tapping out! The referee wearily calls for the bell as Benoit gets a shot at the number one contenders spot next week!

After the match is finished Benoit wearily pulls himself up and gets a microphone. He leans against the ropes.

Chris Benoit: “Jericho! Jericho! I told you I would beat you this week, and I will beat you next week as well. I will take your number one contenders spot and then I will defeat Batista as well to once again realise my goal and become the champion of the wo-”

Triple H: “Please Chris. Please, do us all a favour and shut the hell up. You don’t deserve to be the number one contender and neither does Chris Jericho, the only one who deserves to the number one contender is me, and then I will become the world champion. You see Chris, you haven’t done nearly as much for this company as I have.” [Triple H has been walking down the ramp and now gets into the ring] “So you see, because of that, I’m going to have to do this to you.”

Before Benoit knows what has happened Triple H kicks him in the gut. Pedigree! Pedigree to Benoit! Triple H gets up and poses above the fallen Benoit as RAW comes to an end.

The Great American Bash Fallout

We are just four days removed from the Great American Bash where we saw John Bradshaw Layfield once again capture the WWE Title when he defeated John Cena in a gruelling 20 minute match, but Layfield’s victory was tainted when he received help from Rene Dupree and a steel chair, we’re quite unsure why Dupree aided Layfield, it may be through an alliance or hatred for John Cena but we will find out on SmackDown! Tonight!

Speaking of John Bradshaw Layfield, his fellow cabinet member, Orlando Jordan left the Bash empty handed even though he never was pinned. The former United States champion lost his title when Christian pinned Booker T with a roll up and a handful of tights, Orlando Jordan is believed to be livid with his title loss, especially when he wasn’t even pinned, will we here from Jordan tonight or will John Layfield be too time consuming with his celebrations?

Also at the Great American Bash Kurt Angle seemingly ended The Undertaker in a No Disqualification match when he hit an Angle Slam through the announcers table! Neither man will be in attendance tonight at SmackDown! As Angle recovers from the match in general as The Undertaker has suffered breathing problems since Angle hung him from the ropes using a steel chain! It was a barbaric match that pushed human limits but in the end Kurt Angle prevailed.

Another wrestler who prevailed at the Great American Bash was Shannon Moore, now aided with his new manager, Jim Cornette overcame Paul London to capture the Cruiserweight title. Jim Cornette will have some words to say regarding his clients title capture on Cornette’s debut. Cornette did get involved in the match at the Bash and did help Moore on his way to the title by distracting the referee but we highly doubt that bit will be on the agenda tonight on SmackDown!

A Special Reception

The first SmackDown! Since the Great American Bash opens up with John Bradshaw Layfield making his way out to the ring in his stretch limousine. The crowd begin to boo extremely loudly as the new WWE Champion steps out of the limousine and raises his title into the air, following him out of the limousine are Doug and Danny Basham and lastly, Orlando Jordan now without his United States title. John Bradshaw Layfield leads the Cabinet to the ring as red, white and blue confetti and balloons fall from the ceiling and litter the ring. Layfield takes a microphone from the ring announcer and tells everyone how he is blessed to be here today and to be WWE Champion again, the crowd continue to boo, not wanting to hear a word he says as they begin a “We Want Cena” chant but nothing can wipe the smile from Layfield’s face. Layfield continues to say that despite telling everyone over and over again, he is a true great American and that he deserved to the win title at the same stage he won it the very first time. Layfield said that he had finally proven to the world that he was superior to ‘that trash’ John Cena and that although he had always known he was superior, and so did the cabinet, and even the crowd and John Cena knew it, they were just too scared to admit but now there was no hiding. Bradshaw then turned his attention to Rene Dupree, stating that even though he was happy for Rene’s assistance he never really needed it and Dupree done what he done out of a mutual hatred for John Cena and there was never any planning between himself and Dupree ahead of the match. What Dupree done was his own business, not Layfield’s. After Layfield had finished his celebration ceremony we went to the opening credits as the ring got cleaned up.

Orlando Jordan versus Paul London

After the credits had finished rolling Orlando Jordan made his way out to the ring on his own, the crowd booed the former United States champion as he sauntered down to the ring still looking dejected from his United States title loss on Sunday. Another former champion then made his way to the ring, Paul London, who looked much more upbeat considering he also lost his title on Sunday. The match began with Jordan trying to overpower the smaller London but London came back with his aerial offence and took Jordan to the mat with a scintillating spinning heel kick. Jordan got up, annoyed that London was taking it to him. Jordan went for a big power slam but London slipped free behind Jordan and rolled him up with a school boy roll up, 1...2...3! Paul London got it! Paul London pulled out the victory! After the match Jordan gets up and attacks London from behind with a forearm shot. The crowd boo as Jordan turns around London and picks him up for a power slam but instead plants him on his neck almost, a Brainbuster power slam variation! Jordan gets out of the ring and leaves to the back with a pissed off look on his face as London rolls on the ground holding his neck in pain.

He’s Coming Back!

After the match we see a video begin to play on the titantron. It shows Chris Masters walking down to the ring, then it shows him applying his Masterlock submission hold to several fans who tried to break the hold. It shows several fans then tapping out to the hold and being slumped to the floor, after that we see Chris Masters holding the briefcase in the money as the screen freezes and we see the following written over the screen: “Chris Masters, The Masterlock, Coming Soon”. After the video ends we hear Michael Cole and Tazz deliberating on how Chris Masters is coming to SmackDown! After leaving RAW one month ago!

Jindrak’s Chance

We go backstage where we see SmackDown! General Manager, Theodore Long sitting down in his office watching SmackDown! On the television. There is a knock at his door and after turning down the volume welcomes in the person, Mark Jindrak walks in and the crowd give a bit of a mixed reaction. Teddy asks what he can do for Jindrak who says that since lots of the big guys aren’t here today, the show is free for people like himself to try and make waves within the company. Teddy Long agrees with Jindrak who requests a match for tonight, Long says that he’d let Jindrak prove himself in the main event against Heidenreich. Jindrak looks slightly concerned at first but then smiles a bit, he thanks Teddy Long and leaves out of the door allowing Long to go back and watch SmackDown! On his monitor.

The Basham Brothers, Doug & Danny Basham versus The Hardcore Hotty Connection, Hardcore Holly & Scotty 2 Hotty

The Basham Brothers are the first men out as they get heavy boos from the crowd, mainly for their affiliation with Layfield more than anything. Hardcore Holly and Scotty 2 Hotty then make their way to the ring, Hardcore Holly looks serious whereas Scotty 2 Hotty comes down more cheery and dances down. They get in the ring and are quickly attacked by the Basham’s who go straight down to business putting the boots to their opponents. Doug and Danny quickly isolate Scotty 2 Hotty, seeing that he is the weaker opponent out of the two. Doug and Danny take it in turns to beat on Scotty, hitting him with suplexes and other manoeuvres to wear down their fun loving opponent but they get too complacent when Scotty hit’s a dropkick to the chest of Doug and then Danny and makes the tag to Hardcore Holly. Holly hit’s the ring and takes down Doug and Danny with right hands and then a double clothesline as the brothers hit the mat. The crowd cheer as Hardcore Holly continues his attack on Doug and Danny single handily taking them out until both of them blindside him and sandwich him with a vertical flying splash each. Holly staggers around the ring as Doug spears him to the mat and covers, 1...2...Scotty 2 Hotty breaks it up with a springboard leg drop! The crowd cheer Scotty and Doug go the outside and tag themselves in. Scotty gets the immediate advantage and takes Doug down with some fast offence, Scotty hit’s the bulldog and signals for the Worm, Holly is still down and out and as Scotty does his W-O-R-M routine Danny pulls Doug out of the ring and switches himself. Scotty is just about to hit it when Danny springs to life and rolls up Scotty with a handful of tights, 1...2...3! Danny steals it for the Basham’s! Danny Basham has stolen a victory from the jaws of defeat against the Hardcore Hotty connection! Doug and Danny pick up the victory! After the match Scotty gets to his knees and shakes his head in his disappointment, Hardcore Holly walks over to him and looks disgusted with Scotty. Scotty pleads his case but Holly pushes him to the mat with his hand and points his finger, shouting “Get serious, and THEN we’ll win!” to Scotty. Hardcore Holly leaves the ring with Scotty thinking about Hardcore Holly’s words.

Jim Cornette Speaks On Shannon Moore’s Behalf

Jim Cornette makes his way out to the ring by himself, carrying a microphone and a ‘Prince’ tennis racket. Those who saw the Great American Bash understand this man as ‘Jim Cornette’ Shannon Moore’s new manager, however those who didn’t see the Bash weren’t so sure who he was. The majority of the crowd booed and the others were mainly silent as Cornette got into the ring and told everyone how the next best Cruiserweight was now the champion. He said how Shannon Moore spent too long as a lackey for others such as The Hurricane and Matt Hardy, and spent too much time as a rag doll for the monsters of the promotion but now that was gone, that was the past, that was history and it was time for Shannon Moore to step up and become more independent and more confident in his own abilities and that Jim Cornette was here to do just that. Shannon Moore sent Cornette out here on his own because he did not need to give the crowd the satisfaction of seeing a wrestler of such magnitude with the Cruiserweight title, or so Cornette said. Cornette then said that it didn’t matter who Moore faced because he would always beat them when it came down to the Cruiserweight title.

He Done It For His Peeps…Or Not

Christian comes out to his music and salutes the crowd, his United States title is wrapped around his waist and he constantly motions to it. He wears a broad grin as he makes his way to the ring and climbs into the ring, his music dies down as he calls for a microphone. Christian begins to cut a great promo saying how when he came to SmackDown! He wanted nothing more than to be crowned United States champion and that he accomplished that with so much ease, he thinks he might deserve the World Heavyweight title as well! Christian then said that he ‘won the United States title for his peeps…or not’ in fact the peeps had not even attempted to support him in his battle against that ‘ghetto trash’ Booker T. The crowd booed at this conversation as the aforementioned Booker T made his way out onto the stage with a microphone, the crowd were now cheering as Booker T laid down a challenge to Christian amidst the usage of the word ‘dawg’, Christian summarily refused to put his title on the line against Booker T, or to face Booker T whatsoever. Despite Booker T’s greatest efforts he couldn’t persuade Christian to face him at all, when Booker T left the stage area Christian said that he would put his title on the line against Funaki! The crowd booed as Christian had refused to face Booker T but was willing to get in the ring against Funaki! Christian left to the back smiling. The crowd booed him heavily but Christian couldn’t contain his smugness as he broke out a large grin.

Nunzio versus Super Crazy

Nunzio makes his way out to the ring with Ric Flair at his side, the two climb into the ring as Nunzio removes his blue and silver glistening robe and hands it to Flair. The opponent, Super Crazy, then makes his way out to the ring by himself, this is Super Crazy’s debut (excluding his one off match as ‘El Crazio’). The Mexican Luchadore and Nunzio go at it with Nunzio trying to ground his quick opponent but Crazy proves tough to handle as he refuses to stay on the ground. Crazy gets in some aerial offence early on taking to the top rope and keep Nunzio on his back foot. Crazy hit’s a spinning heel kick to Nunzio taking him down the mat but Super Crazy’s senton bomb misses the mark, this allows Nunzio to seize advantage and takes apart Super Crazy’s legs with his technical mastermind, Super Crazy struggles but Nunzio is unrelenting in his attack locking in a Figure Four Leg Lock! All seems lost for Super Crazy but he valiantly makes it to the ropes much to Ric Flair’s dismay. Nunzio hardly seems worried as he gets to his feet and pulls Super Crazy back to the middle of the ring, he pulls him up and swiftly goes behind Crazy and drops to the mat with what Tazz called a ‘Chicken Wing Crossface’ and Michael Cole referred to it as a ‘submission move’. Crazy profusely tapped out as soon as Nunzio dropped to the mat with him. Nunzio quickly let go of the hold as Super Crazy was left motionless on the mat, Nunzio got up and let Ric Flair get in the ring, Ric Flair held Nunzio’s arm in the air in triumph as the looked at the fallen Super Crazy. The two then gallantly made their way up the ramp. Nunzio had had a slight scare early on but proven he was still a great wrestler.

Rene Dupree Gets A Shock

Teddy Long is sitting in his office again, still watching SmackDown! when once again there is a knock at the door, he stands up and straightens his suit and opens the door, he looks slightly confused as the camera reveals Rene Dupree and the crowd go into a loud frenzy of boos for the man who screwed John Cena out of his WWE Title on Sunday. Teddy Long asks what Rene Dupree wants and Dupree says he wants an opportunity on SmackDown! considering he did show John Cena just who was boss in the WWE. Long pondered for a minute and then smiled. “Ya know, playa, you’re right, you do deserve a shot on SmackDown!” Rene Dupree breaks into a smile. “So yeah, I see SmackDown! has no Number One Contender for the WWE Title at John Bradshaw Layfield and I think you deserve a chance for that title, playa. So lemme lay it down for ya I’m gonna have four of SmackDown!’s best face off in two singles matches and then a final with the winner facing Mr. Bradshaw Layfield at SummerSlam. So we’re gonna have Eddie Guerrero versus…Kane! and you, Rene Dupree versus…John Cena! How ya feel about that playa?” Rene Dupree’s smile fades away instantly as the crowd go nuts, Rene’s eyes widen and he backs to the door and then hurries out leaving Long laughing slightly.

Heidenreich versus Mark Jindrak

Heidenreich is the first man out to cheers from the crowd, following him down to the ring for extra support his Al Snow. The crowd continue to give cheers for the two as they continue down to the ring, after they make it to the ring Mark Jindrak is out next by himself. Michael Cole and Tazz discuss Jindrak’s stint in WCW and how he has all the potential to make it big in the WWE now. To begin with Heidenreich demolishes Jindrak with a clothesline that followed some big blows to the head of Jindrak, Heidenreich has the distinct height and power advantage and flaunts it inside the ring as he gorilla presses Jindrak onto his stomach, Jindrak holds his ribs in pain and Heidenreich boots him in the head. Heidenreich pulls up Jindrak who succeeds with a blind low blow and dropkicks Heidenreich in the chest. Michael Cole and Tazz deliberate on Jindrak’s brilliant dropkick and his highest vertical leap in the WWE. Jindrak continues the assault on Heidenreich with a snap suplex, Jindrak pulls up Heidenreich and continues to beat down on the much bigger man. Jindrak pummels Heidenreich in the corner of the ring, he pulls him out of the turnbuckle and pulls Heidenreich up as if he was going for a suplex but instead places his feet on the top rope, Jindrak raises his left arm to the sky and then drops Heidenreich on his head! Heidenreich’s feet slump off the top rope, he is out of this, Jindrak covers as the crowd let out an ‘ooh’ following the move, Michael Cole and Tazz speak about that DDT as Jindrak easily gets the three count. After the match Steven Richards and Val Venis run down to ringside and into the ring they begin to attack Heidenreich who isn’t moving much, Jindrak leaves the Right to Censor to their business as Ivory passes him on the ramp on the way. Al Snow breaks up the two on one assault bringing a friend with him…a steel chair. Al Snow swings at Venis as the Right to Censor scarper from the ring, Snow aims for Richards next but doesn’t hit either of them as they escape the ring. Al Snow helps up Heidenreich as he keeps a watchful eye on the Right to Censor.

John Cena Is Here

After the main event had finished, John Cena comes out to his music, the crowd go berserk as the former WWE Champion makes his way out onto the stage. He wears knee length jeans, a black ‘Philadelphia 76ers’ basketball jersey and is fully equipped with his standard bling-bling and a tilted baseball cap. Cena comes down to the ring and climbs in as the crowd are going insane still, he gets in the ring and takes a microphone and proceeds to cut a half interview, half rap on all three of the other men in the Number One Contenders Tournament as well as making fun of the champion himself, John Bradshaw Layfield. Cena ends on his ‘word life’ slogan and throws up his hand gesture as the crowd go nuts and SmackDown! comes to and end.

Muhammad Hassan Off Television?

It has been confirmed by the WWE that in the recent wake of terrorists incidents happening in Iraq and including the English bomb scare just last week that the WWE have decided that it would be in everyone’s best interests to keep Muhammad Hassan off television for the weeks running up to SummerSlam in hope that everything will die down slightly. The television network that host RAW, Spike TV, had raised their concern about Muhammad Hassan’s character and it was projecting a bad image on the network with the latest happenings across the globe. It is believed that the WWE will keep Hassan off television up until SummerSlam but that is not definite and it could stretch further. Only time will tell whether Hassan’s character will suffer a major setback or not. The WWE will definitely hope that it will not get a setback because Muhammad Hassan was currently one of the biggest heel draws on RAW and keeping him off television for a long period of time could damage his character for when he returns in the near or distant future.
