If you were a superstar...

I would most definitely "sell out". I'd love to have financial freedom and not have to worry about getting a degree, or working a full-time job. That shit is for the birds, and I'd much rather tour a few times a year with a shitty band then deal with school or real work. I'd make enough money for myself to be able to retire at a young age, quit the band, and then focus on my own projects. I'd hope that maybe my name would be associated with the band I once played in, and that would continue the money making machine, even if meant alienating the people who supported my prior shitty music.

It's not a question of whether I would, or whether I wouldn't, because I don't think the situation you describe would happen. I may be the only one, but I personally couldn't make music that I didn't like and do it well. It would suck, because I wasn't into it, therefore I couldn't see any sane record company asking me to do it knowing it would suck. However, most people deem "selling out" as any time an artist makes a considerable change, regardless of how they feel about it. If a record company asked me to make a change I was interested in, of course I would change.

I think I could, but I'd feel like a bit of a dick.

I still can't take Charlie/Fightstar seriously, I mean just listen to "Year 3000".

I can never understand people who view Fightstar as a legitimate band but don't like Busted, to me they just sound the same, only Fightstar are a bit angry:

"Arghhh, it's the Year 3000, and I'm right fucked off about it!"
