Just to clarify with Ze and everyone else, you CAN pick a draw as a result, at a huge risk of course, but there are draws in this tournament you know. There is a 30 minute time limit on all matches, not to mention double pins, etc. so there WILL be draws. Not every match will have a clean winner.

Rise of the Independents Presents: In the Beginning - Stage 3

Saturday October 15th, 2005

Matt Sydal makes his way to the ring to open up the show. Then the bit from Kill Bill plays as the arena goes red and Homicide makes his way out!

Matt Sydal vs. "The Notorious 187" Homicide

This match really set the stage for the rest of the show as the fans were SUPER into this one. Homicide first gets their attention with a Tope Con Hilo! Sydal got control on the floor and hit a huge corkscrew moonsault from the top to the floor on Homicide! Back in, Cide gains control with an overhead belly to belly. Running knee in the corner and a butterfly suplex off the top gets a 2 on Sydal. Sydal comes back with a second rope spin kick and a corkscrew quebrada for 2. He reverses an attempted Tenzan Tombstone and hooks him for an inverted DDT but brings his leg over and legdrops him down for 2 and 3/4! He can sense the end is near! He goes up top and goes for his Shooting Star but he sees Homicide move and lands on his feet, charges at Homicide and goes for a clothesline but Homicide ducks, runs off the ropes and KILLS Sydal with a Lariat! He easily has the victory but decides against pinning Sydal, instead dragging him to his feet and KILLING Sydal AGAIN with the Cop Killa DANGERRROOOOOOUUUUUSSSS!!! 1, 2, 3 and probably 4, 5, 6 as well.

WINNER---Homicide

*** 1/4

Jimmy Yang vs. Excess 69

First time meeting here and not many people gave Excess a chance but he hangs in there with Yang just fine, getting several near-falls. Yang really laid into Excess with kicks galore. Excess got a boot up in the corner and then locked in the Tarantula 2K4 around the ropes! Yang recovered on the apron but Excess hit his signature Tornado DDT onto the apron! Back in he hit 3 rolling Northern Lights suplexes for 2. Yang was able to get a boot up in the corner and, just like Excess did to him, tied him up in the ropes but with a hanging headscissors. He let go and then hit a spinning heel kick off the top for 2. Whip to the corner and a Tiger wall flip and then he boosts Excess up top and hits a cross-armed Iconoclasm for a CLOSE 2. He goes for Yang Time but misses. Excess tries to lock in the Stretch Muffler into a Crab he likes to do but Yang pushes off the ground and turns it into a quick rana for the victory!

WINNER---Jimmy Yang

*** 1/2

The 2 shake hands after the match.

Ruckus & Eddie Kingston cut a promo saying that despite the fact they are facing each other tonight, they will show everybody what Blkout is all about and that this tournament is theirs for the taking.

Ruckus vs. Eddie Kingston

An entertaining match saw a clash of styles, but these 2 are very familiar with each other's style so they made it work. Ruckus kept King on the defensive with his unique brand of offense. They brawled on the floor and Ruckus hit his running shooting Star off the apron on King. Back in, he hits the Razzle Dazzle and then the somersault into a Fameasser for 2. King comes back with a set of stiff forearms and a uranage backbreaker. 2 count follows. A giant elevated swinging DDT gets 2 as well. Ruckus backflips out of a backdrop driver and hits a backflip kick. He goes up top and hits the Leap of Faith, his moonsault legdrop and gets the pin on his fellow Blkout member!

WINNER---Ruckus

***

The 2 partners embrace after.

Low Ki vs. Trent Acid

This was a great match, Acid really stepped up his game and came to play. Acid kept trying to be fancy and Ki just kept kicking the bejeezus out of him. Acid finally got the advantage with a Blue Thunder Driver. Bad Trip off the top gets 2. Ki came back with a Tidal Wave. He hit his 3 kick combo to the chest and face for a 2. Acid was able to backdrop Ki to the floor and hit an Asai moonsault. Roaring elbow and superkick in the ring gets a 2. He went for the double knees in the corner but Ki moved and hit the Tidal Krush handspring roundhouse kick. He went up top and came off with a Ghetto Stomp but Acid moved and hit a Yakuza kick! He then picked Ki up and went for his Inverted Brainbuster but Ki flipped over into the Dragon Clutch! Acid tried to fight out but Ki really cranked it and Acid had no choice but to tap out!

WINNER---Low Ki

****

Arik Cannon and Claudio Castagnoli cut a promo backstage which was more comedy than serious but essentially said the same thing as Blkout in that while they are facing each other tonight, they have each other's backs throughout the tournament.

Jimmy Jacobs vs. Jay Lethal

Jacobs tried constantly to cheat his way through this match but Lethal kept preventing him from doing so. Jacobs finally decided to wrestle cleanly and hit his inverted Pedigree for 2. Lethal came back with a leaping second rope leg lariat. Back suplex and diving headbutt get 2. Lethal went for his Lethal Injection leaping DDT from the second rope but Jacobs kicked him in the nuts on the way down. OUCH. Jacobs went for the Contra Code but Lethal shoved him face first into the corner and then hit his release Dragon suplex! He turns Jacobs over and gets the pin!

WINNER---Jay Lethal

*** 1/4

Austin Aries cut a great promo, putting himself over as "The Wrestling Machine" he is and serving notice to everybody in the tourney that he is winning it all.

"The Wrestling Machine" Austin Aries vs. BJ Whitmer

Great technical match these two, BJ showing why he is so underrated and Aries as his usual great self. Aries hit all his unique and explosive offense, the Hilo roll through into the diving elbowdrop, the slingshot back into the ring and elbow in the corner, the slingshot corkscrew splash and then his no-hands Lionsault AND his gutbuster-STO-pendulum elbowdrop combo. BJ came back with some nice suplex variations, hitting a German and then a snap suplex into a Northern Lights for 2. Superplex gets another 2. He went for a Dragon suplex, Aries elbowed out, went for a Brainbuster, but BJ blocked and hit a brainbuster of his own. He went up top but missed a splash. Aries went up top now, looking for a 450 but he missed as well. BJ hit an Exploder but not the Wrist Clutch version. BJ headed up top again and was crotched. They fought up top and BJ knocked Aries off but Aries got right back up and met BJ up top and hit a Super Brainbuster DANGEROUS! That move is very ironic as BJ used it to beat CM Punk to win the IWA Heavyweight title and Ted Petty Invitational in 2002! Aries covered BJ for the pin.

WINNER---Austin Aries

*** 1/4

"The Generic Luchadore" El Generico vs. "The New Age Punisher" B-Boy

This was an entertaining little match as B-Boy really smacked around Generico in the beginning. Generico came back with 2 of his huge running Yakuza kicks in the corner to send the message to B-Boy that he ain't fuckin around! B-Boy used this as fuel for the fire though and pasted Generico with a palm strike. He whipped him to the corner hit a forearm shot and then nailed him with a Facelift! 2 count only though! B-Boy backed up and went for the Shining Wizard, Generico blocked and tried for a Brainbustahhh but B-Boy nailed a knee to the head as Generico lifted him and then knocked Generico on his ass with a stiff forearm. B-Boy up top, misses the double stomp, charges at Generico, Generico ducks a swing and plants B-Boy with a half and half suplex! He goes up top and biffs hard on a 450 and that allows B-Boy to hit a Shining Wizard and score the pin!

WINNER---B-Boy

*** 1/2

B-Boy & Generico shake hands after a very competitive matchup!

It's main event time!

"The Anarchist" Arik Cannon vs. "Double C" Claudio Castagnoli

These guys really gelled well together and put together a damn good match. Cannon had to really adjust because Claudio is much bigger and Cannon couldn't use his usual arsenal of moves. As a result Claudio had the advantage for most of the match. He hit a spectacular move when Cannon was on the outside, getting a run, leaping over the ropes, handspringing off the apron and hitting a Swiss uppercut on Cannon as he leaned against the guardrail!! Back in, he hit the diving Swiss uppercut to the back of a seated Cannon's head. He went for the Ricola Bomb, Cannon reversed out though and dropped Claudio on his head with a backdrop driver! He then hit the Glimmering Warlock! He covered but Claudio got his foot on the rope at the last second! Cannon went for another but Claudio ducked, grabbed Cannon and hit a flurry of left and right Swiss uppercuts and then the Ricola Bomb for the hard-fought victory over his tag team partner!

WINNER---Claudio Castagnoli

****

Cannon seems pissed off at Claudio but eventually they make up and shake hands as the show ends.

Rise of the Independents Presents: Generation Next

Saturday October 22nd, 2005

Let's get started with the opening contest!

Petey Williams (1-0) vs. Puma (0-1)

Good match to start us off, lots of technical exchanges and leg work in this one. Puma locked in his Figure 4 Sharpshooter on 3 separate occasions but Petey was able to free himself one way or another each time. Petey returned the leg work, setting up for his Sharpshooter but Puma kept escaping. The fans were getting restless, waiting for Petey to hit the Canadian Destroyer but they would be disappointed on this night. The end came when Petey actually did go for it, Puma backdropped him, Petey held on for a sunset flip but Puma rolled through and grabbed the legs for his leg submission but Petey pulled him down into an inside cradle for the victory!

WINNER---Petey Williams

*** 1/2

Frankie Kazarian (0-1) vs. "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson (0-1)

This was a fantastic match, probably the best of the evening. Kazarian almost had the ROH champ pinned numerous times, Dragon even kicked out of a Wave of the Future from Frankie! Dragon came back and got a nearfall with a Dragon suplex. He was working on Kazarian's neck the whole match with stiff European uppercuts and suplexes. In the end, Kazarian had Dragon up top for the One Man Revolution but Dragon pushed him off and hit a diving headbutt and immediately dragged Kazarian to his feet and hit a Regal Plex to score the pin!

WINNER---Bryan Danielson

****

The 2 shook hands afterwards.

Backstage Colt Cabana hosted the first Good Times, Great Memories - Rise of the Independents Edition. His guest was none other than Delirious! They talked gibberish back and forth for almost 3 minutes until Chris Hero interrupted and voiced his general disgust at the 2 goofballs, telling them that this is a serious tournament and that shenanigans have no place and jokers need not apply. Delirious said something angrily in gibberish to which Hero replied "Santa Claus is so real!" Delirious said something else and Hero replies "you can't beat me with a cravate, I'M THE MASTER OF THAT MOVE!" Cabana stepped in and diffused the situation, leading Hero out of the room. He came back in and him and Delirious made more fun of Hero, who happens to be Delirious' opponent later tonight!

Tony Mamaluke (0-1) vs. Sonjay Dutt (1-0)

Decent match-up as it was Mamaluke's technical prowess against the high-flying antics of Sonjay. Sonjay angered Mamaluke by dancing with him early on and sent Tony to the floor with a satellite headscissors that had THREE rotations! Sonjay then hit a springboard twisting plancha! Back inside, a back and forth battle ensued with Mamaluke soon taking, grounding Sonjay with submissions. Nasty saito suplex almost puts Sonjay away. Tony hit a double underhook DDT and floated over into his guillotine choke but Sonjay was too close to the ropes! Tony dragged him into the middle and tried to apply it again but was almost rolled up for the pin. Sonjay hit a satellite DDT and went up top but was crotched. Tony then hit a superplex and again floated over into the guillotine choke and this time Sonjay tapped!

WINNER---Tony Mamaluke

***

Sexxxy Eddy came to the ring and cut a typically vulgar promo talking about his gigantic cock, the hot ladies in the crowd who he was gonna bang later, and how Peter North was his hero. He got a girl from the crowd *cough*RAT*cough* to come in and undress him. Nothing mentioning his opponent tonight, Danny Daniels however. Seems like Eddy is overlooking what is important in this tournament, and that is not pussy, but winning!

Sexxxy Eddy (0-1) vs. Danny Daniels (1-0)

An OK match that was kind of dragged down a bit for some unknown reason. Eddy was in control but let his ego get the best of him again and Danny hit a piledriver for 2, but then finished him off with the Rubix Cube.

WINNER---Danny Daniels

***

Chris Hero (1-0) vs. Delirious (0-1)

Hero really out-wrestled Delirious in the beginning but Delirious came back and baffled Hero with his own technical abilities. Hero retreated outside but Delirious came diving through the ropes with a Tope! Delirious got a few near-falls before going for Shadows Over Hell but Hero turned it into a gutbuster! He hit a huge Alabama Slam and then the Hero's Welcome and scored the win, but Delirious was very impressive in a losing effort!

WINNER---Chris Hero

****

Bryan Danielson is seen backstage coming up to Roderick Strong and they have words with each other as they will face each other at the next Block A & B show!

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles (1-0) vs. Doug Williams (1-0)

Pretty damn good match here, both men very respectful to one another, shaking hands before the match. Williams really stretches AJ and AJ is forced to use his explosive offense to combat Doug's intricate submissions. AJ hits his quebrada DDT as well as the Styles Special, which is a German suplex and facebuster combo for near-falls. Doug hits his 3 knee combo, ending in the Bomb Scare off the top, 2 count only. A fantastic series ends the match when Doug is whipped into the corner, steps off the turnbuckle and over a charging AJ, grabs him and tries for the Chaos Theory but AJ blocks and hits a Pele Kick! AJ goes for the Styles Clash, Doug escapes through AJ's legs, does the last part of the Artful Dodger and into a schoolboy but AJ rolls through, steps over Doug and right into position for the Styles Clash and he hits it! That gets the 3 to end a great match!

WINNER---AJ Styles

*** 1/2

They shake hands after as the fans show them respect.

Samoa Joe (1-0) vs. "Classic" Colt Cabana (0-1)

Cabana frustrates Joe early on with the same tactics he used in their Pure title match at ROH Death Before Dishonor 3 i.e. crawling away from moves, etc. He tries for a few flash roll-ups, which are Joe's weakness as proved by when Cabana pinned him in Survival of the Fittest in 2004 but Joe is able to avoid being pinned to the mat for 3. He comes back and overpowers Colt with a powerslam, STO and Lariat. Cabana comes back with a big Lariat of his own for 2. Asai moonsault on the floor by Cabana! Back in he hits a HUGE powerbomb! This could be it! He goes up top but Joe cuts him off and hits the Muscle Buster and gets the pin! What a back and forth match!

WINNER---Samoa Joe

*** 1/2

It's main event time as one of the best tag teams on the Indies face one another!

Jack Evans (0-1) vs. Roderick Strong (1-0)

This match, while being a solid match, didn't live up to their FIP encounter. However, there were some memorable spots in this match. Evans hit a 180 springboard into an Infrared to Strong on the floor! Back in he did the Ode to Blitzkrieg for 2. Rod kept trying to hit some of his devastating backbreakers but Evans kept finding ways to counter out. Strong then decided instead to light Jack up with some very noisy chops. He finally hit a back suplex into a backbreaker to a big pop from the crowd. He stayed on Evans' back from that point on but Evans, being a human Gumby, took a while before he started feeling the effects of Strong's assault on the back. Strong at one point military pressed Evans upside down right in the apron on the outside! "Holy Shit" chant starts and rightfully so. Back in, Strong applied the Stronghold but Evans twisted out. Evans was able to SPIKE Strong with a reverse rana for a believable near-fall. Falcon Arrow hits and he heads up top and NAILS the 630! It's over! 1...2...NO!! Strong gets his foot on the bottom rope! Evans goes up top and tries for another 630 but that was a mistake as Strong got his kness up into Jack's back! He then locked in the Stronghold, bending Jack so far that his feet were almost touching his head! Evans realized he couldn't twist out and tapped!

WINNER---Roderick Strong

***

The 2 embrace as Bryan Danielson is shown on the stage applauding Strong's victory and the show comes to an end.
