This week's edition of Smackdown, entitled 'Night of Champions' was certainly a big success, we only saw 1 title change hands though and that was at the start of the night when Sonny Siaki lastly eliminated former tag team partner Ron Killings to win the 10 man battle royal and the Red Bull championship. Mark Shade, the man that had just lost the championship demanded a rematch but with the interruption of Paul Burchill a match was made for next week.

The Undertaker was asked if he believed that Satan would arrive in the W.W.E tonight, The one word answer put Theodore Long in shock. During the match between The Undertaker and Randy Orton, Satan made his appearance. Randy Orton ran from the ring and disappeared through the crowd ending the match with a no contest. Satan and The Undertaker confronted one another before a match was made for The Great American Bash. It will be a buried alive match inside of a graveyard.

The tag team titles where on the line as Vampiro and Devon Storm defended them in a fatal 4 way match. The challengers where Billy Kidman and Matt Hardy, Big Vito & Nunzio and former 2 time tag team champions Chavo Guerrero and Rey Mysterio. Matt got his team disqualified before the match even began by assaulting Nunzio and Vito with a chair. The match continued as a triple threat match and eventually Vampiro pinned Rey to retain the tag team titles.

Backstage Billy Kidman was furious, Matt Hardy appeared and the 2 had a long conversation before Kidman agreed to a match against Nunzio and Vito at The Great American Bash. However Matt told Kidman that the match had been signed but it hadn't as Matt had to persuade Shane to make it which he eventually did. Christian and Shane spoke and it was clear that there are no hard feelings between the 2 after their war from a few months ago. Shane informed Christian that Batista was barred from the arena tonight. Shane then went on to tell Chavo and Rey that due to their performance in tag team turmoil, they would challenge for the tag titles at The Great American Bash.

Bryan Clark, Paul Heyman and Sean O'Haire plotted to ensure that Chris Benoit remained the United States champion, all they where going to do was follow the rules. What they meant wasn't clear until Bryan Clark interjected himself into the United States title match in which Chris Benoit defended against Christian. Bryan Clark assaulted Chris Benoit when it looked like he had the match won anyway and caused the disqualification. Bryan Clark laid out Benoit with The Meltdown. DDP hit the ring to make the save and Sean O'Haire also came out. DDP hit The Diamond Cutter on Bryan Clark. Batista had found a way into the building and tried to get Christian but was assaulted from behind by Kid Romeo and Test.

Rhyno eventually made his entrance to the ring and immediately took down Sean O'Haire with The Gore. Bryan Clark had recovered and attempted to assault Rhyno but Rhyno countered The Meltdown and also hit The Gore on him. There were several near falls all through the match but eventually Sean O'Haire won after leapfrogging The Gore and hitting The Prophecy to retain the World Heavyweight title. We now know that Chris Benoit and Sean O'Haire will face off at The Great American Bash in a ladder match for both the World Heavyweight and United States titles.

How do we follow that with this week's Velocity? Personally i don't think we can but here is the card for this week's edition. The new Red Bull champion Sonny Siaki will be in action as he faces Chuck Palumbo in singles action. The title will not be on the line.

Lash Leroux and Paul London will be in action as they face Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro in a tag team match. Both teams will be looking for a win to potentially get closer to a tag team title shot.

Johnny the Bull eliminated both Booker T and John Bradshaw Layfield from the battle royal on Smackdown, he already holds a win over Booker T but this week he will face JBL in singles action, can The Bull get another big win?

Plus Bryan Clark will wrestle his first singles match since returning to the WWE as he takes on Buff Bagwell. The man known as 'The Muscle' will be looking to show why he is part of Sean O'Haire and Paul Heyman's plan to rule Smackdown. It should be a good show but you won't know unless you tune in.

OVW Rosters & News

Ohio Valley Wrestling continues to work in conjunction with World Wrestling Entertainment; recently we have been taking a lot of interest in the future of OVW and of the superstars who are on that roster. Unfortunately a few of the superstars just weren’t cutting it and so they have been released from their contract, those superstars are Demond Thompson, Dorian Deville, Drew Hankinson and Trevor Rhodes. We wish them all the best in future endeavours.

On the upside, there has been two signings as of late to add to the roster, both of them made by Raw owner Stephanie McMahon, please welcome back Shawn Stasiak! And Ric Flair’s pressing has finally paid off as David Flair is now part of OVW, shocking. There could be a few more signings over the few weeks, stay tuned.

Finance

Finance continues to come in, giving us a nice tidy profit each month, this months’ profit was actually the highest we have had at just over 2.5 million dollars. Merchandise continues to sell more and more each month which also helps us and gives us an idea of who our most marketable stars are.

Weekly Report

Starting next week there will be a weekly report every Sunday night with any news including potential signings, contractual news, and the weekly show round ups as well as the power 10 for Smackdown. We hope that you can tune in each week and find out what is happening on your favourite brand, Smackdown!

Another successful week for the divas project, it was Diamond Dallas Page who served as the backstage interviewer this week and they drew almost 14,000 fans.

The Divas Project has already begun drawing some attention which is much needed, it is clear that this will be a huge hand for women’s wrestling. Already several new woman have been attending training camps outside of the W.W.E, maybe some of them will get noticed.

Velocity was yet another solid show this week but compared to last week’s Smackdown it was nothing. Sonny Siaki opened the show by defeating Chuck Palumbo in his first match as Red Bull champion. Theodore Long interviewed John Bradshaw Layfield backstage and after several moments was confronted by Booker T, it was revealed that they would send a message to Johnny the Bull not to mess with former Heavyweight champions.

Lash Leroux and his tag team partner Paul London took on former WWE Tag Team champions Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro, MNM. London and Leroux looked the better of the two teams throughout the match but with a distraction by Melina it was MNM who picked up the victory. They took their time to celebrate the win.

Johnny the Bull would have a big task ahead of him as he went one on one with John Bradshaw Layfield. Johnny looked tough but eventually JBL took control of the match. The referee was knocked out cold and Johnny the Bull was double teamed by Booker and Bradshaw. Bradshaw held Johnny open and Booker T attempted a chair shot but JTB escaped and Bradshaw went down. Johnny then delivered The Mamaluke DDT on Booker T and the referee came around to count the pin. Following the match Sharmell challenged Johnny to a match but it was rejected and instead an Inter-Gender Tag Team match was made for The Great American Bash.

Paul Heyman and Bryan Clark cut a promo in which Paul Heyman put his client over. Bryan Clark went on to challenge Diamond Dallas Page to a match at The Great American Bash. Buff Bagwell made his entrance to the ring but Bryan Clark cut him off and annihilated him and eventually driving him through a table with a Chokeslam. The referee could do nothing as the match hadn’t begun yet. Bryan Clark through Buff Bagwell into the ring and punished him further delivering The Meltdown as well as another one off the turnbuckle. Diamond Dallas Page having seen enough hit the ring and delivered The Diamond Cutter giving Bryan Clark the victory by disqualification. DDP had accepted the challenge for a match at The Bash.

We move closer and closer to The Great American Bash, so close that there is now less than 2 weeks until the event. This week on Smackdown we will see a number 1 contender’s match for the Red Bull title as Paul Burchill takes on Mark Shade in a rematch from Survival of the Sickest.

Bryan Clark will take on the United States champion Chris Benoit in a one on one match, Bryan Clark is at this point undefeated and will look to continue his streak with a win over the man that faces his tag partner Sean O’Haire at The Great American Bash.

Batista is going to be in action this week, finally! He will be involved in a 3 on 1 handicap match against Kid Romeo, Test and the man he is after Christian. Although nothing has been confirmed, reports indicate that there is some kind of stipulation for this match.

We will see a 6 man tag team match and the in ring debut of Satan! He will be teaming with the WWE Tag Team champions Devon Storm and Vampiro to face Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero and The Undertaker. Can The Dark Prodigy take out their opponents for The Great American Bash in just 1 match?

Plus in our main event of the evening it will be The World Heavyweight Champion Sean O’Haire facing one of the men he defeated in last week’s triple threat match, Rhyno! Can the Man Beast defeat The Champion and maybe earn himself a championship match? Tune in to Smackdown this week and you will find out the answer.

A brilliant edition of Smackdown to be sure with plenty of action, we also added yet another match to The Great American Bash card as Batista will now get a singles match against Christian. That comes after Batista defeated 3 men, not just any 3 men but the 3 men that make up Team Charisma and they are Kid Romeo, Test and Christian. The Animal was once again unleashed and Christian will find it tough in their match come the pay per view.

The show opened however with Paul Burchill hyping up his match against Mark Shade, they would be competing for a shot at the Red Bull championship currently held by Sonny Siaki. The match went back and fourth but eventually Kid Romeo hit the ring causing a double disqualification and ending the match without a challenger for the Red Bull championship. Shane McMahon announced a tag team match on Velocity in which the winners will square off for a shot at the Red Bull championship.

Theodore Long attempted to interview the WWE Tag Team champions Devon Storm and Vampiro but Satan interrupted, scared the living daylights out of Theodore Long and eventually ejected him from the dressing room.

Bryan Clark took on Chris Benoit with his streak of 2 wins, one over Benoit in a tag team match and one over Buff Bagwell. Devon Storm eventually scored the victory when he pinned Rey following The Death Valley Driver. After the match The Undertaker took on Satan but was eventually laid out by The Dark Prince and his followers Devon Storm and Vampiro.

Paul Heyman attempted to recruit Rhyno to join him, Bryan Clark and Sean O’Haire. Rhyno left Paul Heyman without an answer and went on to face Sean O’Haire. Rhyno hit the Gore on Paul Heyman and Bryan Clark during the match but was unable to do the same to Sean O’Haire and was counted out. Sean O’Haire hit Rhyno with the World Championship and followed up with both The Prophecy and The Seanton Bomb as Smackdown went off the air.

We now move on to the final televised edition of Velocity before The Great American Bash. Big Vito has been scheduled to face Billy Kidman on the show; these 2 men will be part of a tag team match at The Bash.

Booker T will also be in action this week, he takes on Chris Kanyon who hasn’t been able to capitalise on his win at Survival of the Sickest yet, Kanyon might be able to pull off victory tonight though as Booker T is focused on Johnny the Bull instead.

The match that was made on Smackdown, Mark Shade and Ron Killings against Paul Burchill and Kid Romeo, the winning team will face each other on Smackdown for a shot at Sonny Siaki’s Red Bull championship at The Great American Bash.

Satan said that he would do Devon Storm and Vampiro a little turn by taking on Rey Mysterio on Velocity and that match will take place. Reports indicate that Chavo Guerrero has been sidelined with a minor injury and will not be in the building.

And our main event will feature the Red Bull champion Sonny Siaki facing his toughest opponent to date, Diamond Dallas Page. If Sonny Siaki can defeat The King of Badda Bing then he will sky rocket up the rankings here on Smackdown and indeed in the WWE. So make sure you tune in to Velocity this week and see if any more matches are added to The Great American Bash.

We are just a few days away from The Great American Bash, a card which has been coming together nicely for the past few weeks and which will be completed here tonight on Smackdown. Let’s take you back though to Velocity this past Saturday night and remind you of what we saw there.

Big Vito and Billy Kidman started us out, they will be in a tag team match at The Bash but on Velocity they went one on one and despite nearly losing the match Billy Kidman snatched the victory out of nowhere with a sunset flip to win himself the match but Big Vito struck after the match and laid out his opponent for The Bash with his inverted ddt finisher.

Both Booker T and Sharmell cut a promo in which Booker T promised not to lay his hands on whoever Johnny chose as his partner for the Bash. Sharmell then spoke about how she would most likely be a tramp and insulted whoever the diva may be before promising that Booker T would defeat Chris Kanyon. Booker T did go on to defeat Kanyon but it was by disqualification after Johnny got involved. After the match Johnny took on Booker T whilst Sharmell looked on, Sharmell was attacked from behind by Christy Hemme and soon Johnny and Christy left having sent a message to there opponents for The Great American Bash.

Kid Romeo teamed with Paul Burchill to take on the team of Ron Killings and Mark Shade, the winning team would go on to face each other on Smackdown for a shot at the Red Bull championship being held by Sonny Siaki. Ron Killings and Mark Shade came out victorious after Mark Shade made Paul Burchill tap to the Camel Clutch. Mark Shade assaulted Ron Killings after the match but Ron Killings fought back and laid out Shade with The Scissors Kick.

Rey Mysterio spoke backstage about Chavo Guerrero being injured, his opponents for The Great American Bash as well as his match against Satan. Rey tried his best against Satan but nothing could stop the dark prince as he easily destroyed Mysterio moments later.

DDP cut a promo talking about his match against Bryan Clark at The Great American Bash as well as Sean O’Haire versus Chris Benoit for the United States and World Heavyweight titles. DDP then went on to face Sonny Siaki and lost by count out after Bryan Clark tried to interfere. Sonny Siaki celebrated his victory as DDP and Bryan Clark brawled out of sight ending Velocity.

So what will we see on Smackdown this week then? Well quite a lot to be honest, we are not slowing down as we head into The Great American Bash and we start Smackdown out this week as Matt Hardy takes on Nunzio, the 2 men that have been teaming with Billy Kidman lately and the two men that hate each other most.

We know that Mark Shade and Ron Killings will face off for a shot at the Red Bull championship at The Bash. Sonny Siaki will be close by to be sure as he is the champion and he also defeated Ron Killings at Survival of the Sickest after a bitter split as a tag team.

The Undertaker will be taking on the WWE Tag Team champions Devon Storm and Vampiro, fortunately a loss for them doesn’t sent them to purgatory as they are binded to the WWE being the tag team champions, A new clause in the contract after Christian’s attempts to leave the company with the United States title.

Bryan Clark will be looking to continue his winning streak as he takes on Rhyno in singles competition. Rhyno has had issues with Heyman, O’Haire and Clark as of late and a win for him would be brilliant.

Plus in our highly anticipated main event it will be the team of Booker T, Christian and World Heavyweight champion Sean O’Haire against Batista, Johnny the Bull and United States champion Chris Benoit. Lots of heat inside of that ring which could potentially break down but remember we are just days away from The Great American Bash, so do not miss this show.

Velocity was quite enjoyable. I liked it a lot. However, the text has got to go. Comic Sans is painful to my eyes, for some reason. Mark Shade is easily one of my favorite people in your diary, but Bryan Clarke? Ick. He's about 44 years old, and wasn't very good to begin with. That's questionable. Also, who is Satan and what is The Diva Project? Whoever Satan is, I love the character and ironically, I am about to bring in a character similar to Satan. Overall, above average show and a good read. 3.5/5

I'm with thecageeffect on the font. It's difficult to read. I love this diary. I'm a HUGE Sean O'Haire and really enjoy that you have pushed him to the World Championship. That is so exciting! I'm very pleased.

I really enjoyed Velocity as well, and you seem to have a really strong roster. Good luck with this.

And Sonny Siaki is a great talent to push.

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. I have some explaining to do though, my computer went weird on me a few weeks ago and it is just now that i have gotten it back, it seems to be working alright now and i hope to get my shows going again soon, let's just hope all my files are ok as i haven't had a chance to check them yet.

To answer your questions, The Divas Project was mentioned in a news post a while back. Basically i have hired many divas from around the world and i have been running a kind of show with them in order to get them skilled and more over. It would be nice to have some actuall female wrestlers that can draw. As it stands things are going well.

I wasn't sure if bringing in a character called 'Satan' would be classified as wrestlecrap or seen as something the WWE might actually do, personally i'd say both but it is working out pretty well right now.

I won't hold back on the fact that i was a WCW fan back in the day, i still have many video tapes, mainly of WCW Worldwide and Bryan Clark was one of my favourite wrestlers, don't understand why to be honest, maybe it was just the awesome entrance music that he and Brian Adams had in Kronik. For anyone interested the song was 'Love Dump' by Static X.

And i will sort out that font, i have been trying out many different fonts to try and get a decent one, so now i know not to use Comic San. I really appreciate the feedback and i hope i can keep you all happy, thanks again.

The Smackdown theme song is played and Smackdown comes on the air, pyro shoots off from the ring and entrance ramp, the camera pans around the crowd before coming to rest at the announce table where we join Michael Cole and Tazz.

[Michael Cole] - Welcome to WWE Smackdown, I’m Michael Cole alongside my broadcast partner Tazz and we are just days away from The Great American Bash, this will be the final televised show before what will be a spectacular pay per view event.

[Tazz] - The card is looking brilliant Cole but we have 1 more match to add and that will be the Red Bull championship match, Sonny Siaki will be defending against either Mark Shade or Ron Killings.

[Michael Cole] - It is going to be brilliant without a doubt Tazz. Our opening match of the evening will feature Matt Hardy against Nunzio, this Sunday they will be in tag team action teaming with their respected partners Billy Kidman and Nunzio.

‘Nunzio vs. Matt Hardy’

‘Singles Match’

Nunzio’s music hits and a few moments pass before Nunzio makes his way down to the ring getting some decent mixed reactions from the fans. Matt Hardy’s music then hits and a few moments pass before Matt Hardy comes out from the back to some mixed reactions. It seems that the fans are torn between the two with the way they have been acting as of late. Matt enters the ring and Nunzio ducks a clothesline and scores with several chops to the chest of Matt Hardy. Matt reverses an Irish whip; Nunzio ducks a clothesline and hits a crossbody block for a 2 count. Matt Hardy blocks a right hand and scores with some of his own. Nunzio hits a boot to the gut and fights back before hitting a clothesline that sends Matt to ringside. Nunzio goes to the outside; Matt grabs Nunzio and sends him crashing into the ring steps. Matt has grabbed a steel chair, Billy Kidman runs down to the ring and is trying to convince Matt not to use the chair. Matt and Kidman begin to argue. Big Vito hits the ring and clotheslines Billy Kidman from behind. Big Vito ducks a chair shot and hits Matt in the gut before taking the chair and nailing Matt right between the eyes. The referee has seen enough and calls for the bell.

[Ring Announcer] - The winner of this match by disqualification, Matt Hardy!

Rating - 76%

In A Ladder Match For Both The United States & World Heavyweight Titles

Chris Benoit© vs. Sean O’Haire©

Sean O’Haire has been a dominant World Heavyweight champion since defeating Batista for the title at Wrestlemania 22 this year. So far he has defended the title against Batista, DDP, Christian, Randy Orton and The Rock. He even won the first ever 6 man triple cage match to retain the title. The Rock’s career was ended; DDP has had problems with Bryan Clark. Batista and Christian have been feuding and Randy Orton has since left the title picture and is currently taking a short vacation from the ring to recover from a few minor injuries. So who else could challenge for the gold? How about the United States champion Chris Benoit. He defeated Al Snow at Survival of the Sickest to win back the gold and called upon an old tradition where the US champion was the number 1 contender for the World Championship. However before the match could be completely signed both men would have to defend their titles at Night of Champions. Chris Benoit retained against Christian by disqualification after Bryan Clark became involved. Plus Sean O’Haire defended against Rhyno and Diamond Dallas Page. The match was signed right after their victories and we now know that one of these men will be leaving The Great American Bash with the top 2 titles on Smackdown and this will give them ultimate power on the brand. This is guaranteed as in a ladder match there are no disqualifications but the question is who has the balls to hold 2 titles and be the target of everyone on the roster?

For The WWE Tag Team Titles

Devon Storm© & Vampiro© vs. Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero

Chavo and Rey have held the WWE Tag Team titles together twice now, losing them to Rhyno and JBL before regaining them. They then lost the titles moments later to Kidman and Nunzio in tag team turmoil who lost them moments later to Storm and Vampiro. However Shane McMahon seeing how well they had done decided to make a match between the 2 teams for the gold here tonight. Chavo and Rey where in the match for the titles at Night of Champions and on that night it was Rey who was pinned by Devon Storm. Devon Storm and Vampiro must defend these titles to avoid being sent to purgatory by Satan, so they will be focused on winning but at 100% who can defeat Chavo and Rey?

IPB Image

For The Red Bull Title In A Triple Threat Match

Sonny Siaki© vs. Mark Shade vs. Ron Killings

Mark Shade lost the Red Bull championship in a 10 man battle royal at Night of Champions, the same match in which Sonny Siaki won the title, these 3 men where in fact the final three in that match. Ron Killings eliminated Mark Shade before Sonny Siaki eliminated Ron Killings. Killings and Siaki had gone through a bitter feud leading up to Survival of the Sickest and at that event it was The Ace in the Hole who came out on top. Mark Shade and Ron Killings in order to get a title shot had to win a tag team match over Kid Romeo and Paul Burchill, 2 former champions and they did so. Mark Shade defeated Ron Killings to earn a shot at the gold but he had help from Sonny Siaki. Shane McMahon stepped in and made Sonny suffer for his interference but making the match a Triple Threat match. Both Sonny Siaki and Mark Shade share a dislike for Ron Killings which would prove disastrous for The Truth. However in a triple threat match anything can happen, who will walk out as the champion?

In A Buried Alive Match Inside Of A Graveyard

‘The Prince Of Darkness’ Satan vs. The Undertaker

Father versus Son or Good versus evil? It’s hard to draw a valid conclusion on this one. On one hand Satan continues to call Undertaker his son and The Undertaker has not truly called it false although he is in denial about it. Plus who is the evil one of the two? The Undertaker on the road to Wrestlemania and afterwards was the most evil man on Smackdown as he showed no mercy to anyone including his tag team partner Booker T. However when Satan and The Dark Prodigy came on the scene, people where seeing The Undertaker as the good guy but Satan has not really done anything of true evil, has he? Maybe taking the body of someone and sending Raven and Vampire Warrior to purgatory is not good but let’s face it, if they where evil, doesn’t that make it good? The story of the feud has been very confusing but there is one think that is certain and it’s that when it all boils down to it, these 2 men are going to have one hell of a match. The Undertaker gets buried and passes away then he goes to hell, Satan gets buried and he returns to hell by himself leaving Undertaker alone. Nobody will be allowed to get involved in the match between these 2 and they wouldn’t want to either, let’s just hope that the right one prevails in this feud.

In A Tag Team Match

Billy Kidman & Matt Hardy vs. Big Vito & Nunzio

This all started during a qualifying match for Tag Team Turmoil, in that match Billy Kidman pinned Big Vito at the same time that Nunzio pinned Matt Hardy resulting in a win for both sides. Shane McMahon stepped in but instead of allowing both teams to enter the match he paired together the two who actually won the match, Billy Kidman and Nunzio. This sparked fury with Matt Hardy and he had to watch as Billy Kidman and Nunzio won the WWE Tag Team titles during the match, the reign was only 7 minutes long when Matt Hardy got involved and hit The Twist of Fate on Nunzio allowing Vampiro and Devon Storm to get the win. Matt kept on at Kidman about loyalty as his tag team partner and even convinced Big Vito to do something about it. This eventually led to Matt getting a tag team match in which he and Billy Kidman would face Big Vito and Nunzio for a shot at the WWE Tag Team titles. However the problems within both tag teams could spill out onto the match and cause complete chaos.

In A Singles Match

Bryan Clark vs. Diamond Dallas Page

This goes back to Survival of the Sickest, when Bryan Clark made his debut to get involved in the triple cage match for the World Heavyweight title. Diamond Dallas Page and Christian where at the top of the cage exchanging blows and whoever came out on top between the two would certainly have won the title. However Christian went down and before DDP could unhinge the title Bryan Clark chokeslammed him all the way to hell. Sean O’Haire went on to defend the title causing an alliance between Sean O’Haire, Bryan Clark and Paul Heyman. Bryan Clark and Sean O’Haire defeated DDP and Chris Benoit in tag team action. Bryan Clark went on to also defeat Buff Bagwell, Chris Benoit and Rhyno in singles matches and is at this point undefeated. Diamond Dallas Page was challenged to a match by Bryan Clark and he did not back down. Bryan Clark wanted to get involved in the main event on Smackdown this past week but Diamond Dallas Page attacked from behind and laid out the man nicknamed ‘The Muscle’ by Paul Heyman. This will be a match between 2 veteran athletes and a match not to be missed for sure.

IPB Image

In An Inter-Gender Tag Team Match

Booker T & Sharmell vs. Johnny the Bull & Christy Hemme

Booker T and Johnny the Bull teamed together once and that one time proved to be disastrous, sure they got the victory when Booker T pinned Ron Killings thanks to Sonny Siaki turning on him. Booker T and Johnny the Bull celebrated their win but Booker T wasn’t happy at the thought of Johnny stealing his spotlight and they came to blows with Johnny the Bull laying out Booker T. Johnny the Bull went a step further though when he cost Booker T a match against DDP which would see the winner enter The Triple Cage match. It seemed that Johnny the Bull wanted to face Booker T, maybe to get himself more air time. Booker T’s retaliation was simply just a distraction which cost Johnny a big match against Al Snow, although the United States title was not on the line. The two of them finally went one on one at Velocity. Johnny looked set for victory when he connected with The Mamaluke DDT. Sharmell distracted the referee though and gave Booker T enough time to recover and pick up victory.

Johnny recovered during the celebrations though and in anger he laid out Sharmell with the Mamaluke DDT. Johnny then went on to defeat Booker T at Survival of the Sickest but it didn’t stop there as Johnny eliminated both Booker T and John Bradshaw Layfield from a battle royal and so in attempts to punish him Booker T accompanied JBL to a match against Johnny the Bull and despite best efforts Johnny laid both men out and picked up the victory. After that match it was Sharmell who challenged Johnny to a one on one match but Johnny turned it down and instead accepted an inter-gender tag team match against Booker T and Sharmell with a partner of his choice. Johnny went on to choose Christy Hemme who attacked Sharmell from behind after Johnny attacked Booker T during a match against Kanyon. Let’s hope that when this match takes place its man on man, woman on woman and not some cheap victory attempt of a man over a woman.

IPB Image

In A Singles Match

Batista vs. Christian

Christian defeated Batista upon his return to the WWE to earn a spot inside of the triple cage, Batista had to win a battle royal to get in and when he did he was after Christian. Batista and Christian where the final 2 men inside of the bottom cage and Christian made it to the roof first and took the ladder with him trapping The Animal inside of the cage and keeping him out of the match. Christian was then haunted by Batista who drove him through a table and wiped out Kid Romeo and Test with the ring steps. Batista had to win a 3 on 1 handicap match in order to get a match against Christian at The Great American Bash. Christian has since realised that he has beaten Batista before and he can do it again but has Batista ever been as focused as he is now? Well these 2 men will go one on one tonight and the winner will no doubt be 1 step closer to a World Title shot.

Music begins to play and pyro explodes all around the arena as The Great American Bash comes on the air, the camera spins around the 37,000 plus fans that are in attendance before finally coming to rest at the announce table where Michael Cole and Tazz are seated.

[Michael Cole] - Welcome everybody to The Great American Bash 2006, I am Michael Cole alongside Tazz, tonight 37,000 plus fans have joined us to bear witness to some incredible action, every title is on the line tonight but most importantly in our main event both the United States and World Heavyweight titles are on the line in a match featuring Chris Benoit against Sean O’Haire.

[Tazz] - And to make it even better it is going to be a ladder match, I am just hoping that DDP can put Bryan Clark away tonight because if not then the odds are going to be against Chris Benoit in a main event where anything goes.

[Michael Cole] - I agree partner, also tonight will be a match for the WWE Tag Team titles, a triple threat match for the Red Bull championship, Batista takes on Christian, there will be an inter-gender tag team match.

[Tazz] - And the one that I am looking forward to Cole, The Undertaker versus Satan in a graveyard buried alive match, which is going to be something special.

[Michael Cole] - Your absolutely right partner but our first match of the evening will be a number 1 contenders match to the WWE Tag Team titles as Big Vito and Nunzio take on Billy Kidman and Matt Hardy.

[Tazz] - Hold on a second Cole, take a look at this.

‘Plotting and Planning’

The titantron comes to life and we find ourselves backstage with Bryan Clark and the World Heavyweight champion Sean O’Haire. A few moments pass before Theodore Long walks into the dressing room.

[Theodore Long] - Hey playas, tonight is a big night for both of you because you Bryan Clark are participating in your first pay per view match and you Sean are taking part in a ladder match with both your World title and Chris Benoit’s United States titles on the line. How are you both feeling about tonight?

[bryan Clark] - Listen to me little man, tonight is not just a big night, tonight is a huge f****** night because not only will we consolidate power by bringing the United States and World Heavyweight titles to our group but we will send a message to everyone in World Wrestling Entertainment when we beat, destroy and annihilate Diamond Dallas Page and Chris Benoit.

[sean O’Haire] - Tonight I will become the first superstar to ever hold both the World Heavyweight and United States straps at the same time. Chris Benoit could not handle such a task but I the great Sean O’Haire am more than capable of such things and tonight when I make history, we will take this industry by storm!

The dressing room door opens once more and in walks Paul Heyman who with big smile on his face but it changes when he sees Theodore Long.

[Paul Heyman] - What the hell are you doing here Teddy? Are you trying to get my guys to tell you all about what we have planned for tonight? Maybe you’re trying to convince them to take it easy on Benoit and Page tonight, is that right? Well I have news for you Teddy, Bryan Clark and Sean O’Haire are superstars and as superstars they have an obligation to themselves to go lightly on no man, woman or child and tonight in front of the 37,000 fans that are in attendance and the millions watching at home, they are going to revolutionise World Wrestling Entertainment, make history and prove to everyone once and for all that we mean business! Now get the hell out of here before I bitch slap you.

Theodore Long leaves looking rather unhappy. Paul Heyman begins to smile again as he turns to Bryan Clark and Sean O’Haire.

[Paul Heyman] - I have just gotten word that our guest of honour is on his way to the arena as we speak and I have also taken care of our little swerve so you have nothing to fear tonight Sean. This is a huge night for us; we can take over this company in just 1 night and what better way to do it than on pay per view, than here at The Great American Bash. Chris Benoit and Diamond Dallas Page are 2 major players in wrestling without a doubt but they will be yesterday’s news by the end of the night, I have taken care of what needs to be taken care off, all you two have to do is finish the job by winning your matches tonight. Now gentlemen I have to go and meet our special guest as I am expecting him here either minute. I’ll see you in the ring at the end of the night.

Paul Heyman smiles and then leaves the dressing room and the scene fades to black.

‘Big Vito & Nunzio vs. Billy Kidman and Matt Hardy’

‘#1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Titles’

‘Tag Team Match’

Music begins to play and a few moments pass before Big Vito and Nunzio appear out from the back to some decent heat although there are some crowd pops for Nunzio. They enter the ring and Big Vito looks focused but Nunzio looks rather worried. Music then plays again and this time Billy Kidman and Matt Hardy appear out from the back to some good crowd pops, they make their way down to the ring where Matt poses for the fans. Kidman and Nunzio look at each other before Kidman poses too. The referee then starts the match; Vito and Hardy are having words with their tag partners before they step onto the ring apron making them go first. Billy Kidman and Nunzio stare each other down from across the ring with neither of them wanting to throw the first punch but they eventually tie up and Nunzio takes Kidman down with an arm drag for a 1 count. Kidman uses a school boy rollup for a 2 count. Nunzio uses a small package but gets a 2 count. Kidman uses a sunset flip for a 2 count. Nunzio uses a crucifix pin for a 2 count and this continues until Nunzio ‘accidentally’ pokes Kidman in the eye. Nunzio looks apologetic but Kidman scores with several punches to the face and it is on. Billy Kidman beats Nunzio back against the ropes and sends him across. Nunzio is taken down with a back body drop and then a dropkick from Billy Kidman. Kidman sends Nunzio into the corner and hits a corner clothesline followed by a bulldog for a 2 count. Matt could not look happier as Billy Kidman stomps away at the man he held the WWE Tag Team titles with just recently. Nunzio tags Big Vito and then goes to the outside. Big Vito enters the ring; Billy Kidman ducks a clothesline and hits a boot to the gut followed by several forearm shots right to the face. Big Vito reverses an Irish whip, Kidman ducks a clothesline. Big Vito ducks a clothesline from Kidman and hits an atomic drop followed by a clothesline. Big Vito hits an elbow drop for a 2 count. Big Vito hits a knee to the gut of Billy Kidman and whips him chest first into the turnbuckle before hitting a clothesline from behind. Big Vito sends Billy Kidman shoulder first into the ring post. Big Vito hits repeated clubbing blows across the back of Billy Kidman. Big Vito puts Billy Kidman in the tree of woe and hits several boots to the chest before tagging Nunzio. Big Vito gives Nunzio some orders but he disobeys and releases Kidman from the tree of woe.

Big Vito looks furious as Nunzio sends Kidman into the ropes; Kidman ducks a clothesline and tags Matt Hardy. Matt knows that Kidman is hurt from the beating moments earlier and so doesn’t take it as a way of getting out of the ring with Nunzio. Matt Hardy ducks a clothesline and hits several punches to the face of Nunzio. Matt hits a boot to the gut before bouncing his head off the top turnbuckle. Matt mounts the 2nd turnbuckle and reigns down on the head of Nunzio with repeated punches. Matt dismounts and sends Nunzio across the ring before charging in and going chest first into the turnbuckle. Nunzio now mounts the 2nd turnbuckle and hits repeated punches to the head of Matt. Nunzio takes Matt up top and brings him back into the ring with a huricanranna for a 2 count. Nunzio climbs the turnbuckle as Matt gets to his feet, Nunzio scores with a crossbody for a 2 count. Nunzio repeatedly punches Matt before tagging Big Vito who comes off the top with a flying elbow drop. Big Vito quickly scales the turnbuckle again and hits a diving headbutt. Big Vito got a 2 count after several moves and he pulls Matt to his feet. He sends Matt into the ropes; Kidman makes a blind tag as Matt hits a boot to the chest. Billy Kidman hits a springboard clothesline taking down Big Vito and getting another 2 count. Matt Hardy knocks Nunzio off the ring apron and goes to the outside where he can brawl with him and allow Kidman to finish off Big Vito. Billy Kidman drives Big Vito face first into the canvas and is now climbing the turnbuckle. Billy Kidman executes The Shooting Star Press but Big Vito got the knees up. Big Vito moves back to his feet. Kidman is hurt and staggers back to his feet only to be driven into the canvas with The Inverted DDT compliments of Big Vito who follows up with the cover ....1….2….3!

‘The Decks Are Stacked’

The titantron comes to life and we find ourselves backstage with the United States champion Chris Benoit, he is warming up for the main event match against Sean O’Haire when Theodore Long appears.

[Theodore Long] - Chris Benoit in just a few moments time you will be facing Sean O’Haire in a history making match because not only will your United States title be on the line but so will the World Heavyweight title. How are you feeling about having such an opportunity?

[Chris Benoit] - How am I feeling? How do you think I feel? I have a huge opportunity sitting right in my face, the opportunity to hold the top 2 prizes here on Smackdown and to be the most spectacular champion in wrestling history. A ladder match against Sean O’Haire sounds hard enough; he has proven himself time and time again that he is the real deal. He has defeated men like The Rock, like Batista, like Diamond Dallas Page and still, still he holds on to that title. It might seem like I have a 50-50 chance of winning the match but considering what we have seen tonight, Brian Adams and Bryan Clark coming together to reform a formidable tag team and along with Sean O’Haire and Paul Heyman I’d say that makes a pretty tough force. There are no rules in this match that keeps any of them away, Sean might like the chance to beat me fairly but I doubt it. My chances tonight are a lot less than 50-50, its more like 20-80 but rest assure that Chris Benoit will not back down from this challenge; he will not roll over and let any superstar stop me from achieving what I want tonight and what I want more than anything is to be World Heavyweight Champion!

Chris Benoit has hyped up the main event with a brilliant speech and he walks off for his match as the scene fades to black.

‘At The Announce Table’

We return to the announce table to rejoin Michael Cole and Tazz.

[Michael Cole] - Chris Benoit is ready Tazz, Chris Benoit looks focused, he knows his chances are cut because of Brian Adams and Bryan Clark but he will give it his all.

[Tazz] - Of course he will Cole, Chris Benoit might be the underdog but every dog has his day and this could very well be it.

[Michael Cole] - The United States and World Heavyweight titles are both on the line, “The Rabid Wolverine” Chris Benoit versus “The Maniacal” Sean O’Haire and that match is next!

Hype Video

The titantron comes to life and a video begins to play showing highlights of the feud between Sean O’Haire and Chris Benoit.

WWE Insider - The Smackdown Report

Great American Bash Recap

Personally I thought that The Great American Bash was a bit of a let down, although in comparison to Survival of the Sickest that would be understandable. Still the event will be remembered, especially with the main event and such. 37,000 plus attended the show, nice.

I opened the show with Sean O’Haire and Bryan Clark as tonight was there night, the streak on the line as well as the chance to be the United States and World Heavyweight champion. Paul Heyman confirmed that he was going to meet the special guest, who we all knew was going to be involved in the pay per view in some way or another.

Big Vito and Nunzio got the upset over Billy Kidman and Matt Hardy; you would put your money on Kidman and Hardy. I must admit I had to put a lot of thought into this feud, it got kind of complicated but now that Matt has turned on Kidman it should become a little simpler. Nunzio really got over from this feud and rightfully so.

Bryan Clark versus Diamond Dallas Page, nobody expected it to be a pretty match, it was going to be a flat out brawl between 2 veteran workers but the ratings for that match were off the chart and it was very unexpectedly the match of the night. Brian Adams made his debut; he was the mystery guest but if you didn’t see that coming then there is something wrong with you. Bryan Clark continues his winning streak. Rhyno over by coming to the rescue but put Kronik over by having Kronik eventually come out on top made them look more dangerous.

Batista versus Christian, not a massive amount of build going into this match, Christian screwed Batista out of the chance of becoming World Champion at Survival of the Sickest. The Animal wanted revenge, had to fight for a match, got it and won. Team Charisma might have cost Christian the match though as Christian was distracted in telling them to stay away giving Batista enough time to score with the spinebuster for the win. But in more shocking events Christian shook hands with Batista after the match turning him face. What does this mean for Team Charisma?

The backstage scene between Johnny the Bull and Christy Hemme was to make it seem that Johnny cared about his tag team partner and really didn’t want her to get hurt, making the tag match a little more personal. Booker T and Sharmell got the win after Booker T hit the scissors kick on Christy Hemme but let Sharmell get the pin. The match rating wasn’t fabulous but Christy and Sharmell are still undergoing a lot of training. Johnny then showed his care for Christy by leaving the arena with her. This feud is far from over.

Ron Killings did a little interview talking about Sonny Siaki and Mark Shade. Mark Shade looked like he had the win after applying The Camel Clutch but Sonny Siaki picked up the victory by pinning Mark Shade after The Samoan Pop. A strong match, getting all 3 men a little more over and Sonny Siaki continues to make waves on Smackdown.

Satan versus The Undertaker, Creative Genius or Wrestle Crap? You decide but the match itself drew strong ratings, finally giving the feud some real credibility. Satan, being inhuman picked up the victory despite the will of The Undertaker. The Undertaker sitting up threw the dirt after the match, off camera got strong pops from the fans, the dead man is not dead and neither is this feud.

Devon Storm and Vampiro, a little talk between the two on keeping the tag titles and their spot on earth got some good ratings, they then went on to defeat 2 time tag team champions Chavo Guerrero and Rey Mysterio, another strong match putting Vampiro and Devon Storm a little bit more over and perhaps removing Chavo and Rey from the tag title scene.

Chris Benoit spoke about the main event, how he knew the decks where stacked against him but he wouldn’t go down without a fight. The match itself despite the hype wasn’t the match of the night although it will probably be remembered more than the rest due to the prizes on offer. Chris Benoit looked to have the win but in comes Kronik, Chris Benoit fights them off showing his determination to win but Sean O’Haire recovers from being driven through the table and finishes off Chris Benoit with The Prophecy and then a Seanton Bomb through a table. Sean O’Haire, Paul Heyman and Kronik ended The Great American Bash with a major celebration.
