PWG & SMWA Team Up!

Billy Bob

Contacts at both the PWG and SMWA headquarters have told us that the two promotions are going to be exchanging talent in upcoming cards. The two federations are hoping to expose workers from different regions to the fans of their area and bring some more renown to the workers of both promotions. We contacted SMWA owner Kevin George about the developments and this is what we got in reply.

I’ve been a fan of the Southern California scene for a while. I started off with the East Coast federation as most fans do then moved more towards the Midwest and Michigan area since that’s where I’m from. Some of my favorite RoH guys work a lot in California and specifically Pro-Wrestling Guerilla. I really wanted to bring some of these guys in and I’ve done that with B-Boy. Excalibur appeared on our last show and I worked out some details with him to bring in some more of the PWG guys and in return send some of our guys over to California to wrestle. Excalibur really liked the crowd that we had and was enthusiastic about the opportunity to come and work here more often and I was happy to oblige him. This is going to be a great opportunity for fans of both promotions to see wrestlers live that they would normally only be able to see on tape. I don’t want to spoil too many surprises but I do know that Bobby Quance and Disco Machine are two of the competitors that we are going to be flying out fairly regularly. N8 Mattson may make a trip or two with the SMWA Championship and defend it there. Jimmy Jacobs and Alex Shelley are two guys we are likely to be sending over there. This is going to be really exciting for all of our local wrestling fans as they are going to see a completely different style of wrestling from these So-Cal workers.”

We have contacted Excalibur and the other owners of PWG but they haven’t replied to us yet. Kevin George is very accurate with his comments. This will be a great opportunity for fans to be exposed to a completely different style of wrestling although the fly outs will be expensive so it may prove to be too much of a financial burden on both companies but time will tell.

On a related note for the SMWA one of their star workers, Chance Beckett, signed a written contract with NWA: East Coast. Luckily it plays into their current storyline where Vito Thomaselli beat Beckett in a loser leaves match.

N8 Mattson managed to retain the SMWA Championship against Alex Shelley in a brutal match that left both men bruised and battered. N8 Mattson has turned the main event scene into a hardcore zone as he continues to go to the outside and use tables and chairs to win his matches and retain the Championship.

We return to Detroit for our next show. The October show is on the seventeenth and is Birthday Bash II: The So-Cal Invasion. As several wrestling sites have reported we have started a working relationship with Pro-Wrestling Guerilla and several of their wrestlers will be making their debuts at the show. Along with these new arrivals N8 Mattson will be giving Johnny Spade a shot at the title. Mattson wants to show all of the members of the Coalition what is what and Spade is the next man in line. Several matches on the card will be used to determine spots in the Midwest Invitation Tournament which will take place on the November and December shows. Be sure to check for the entire card coming soon.

Birthday Bash II: The So-Cal Invasion will take place in Detroit on October 17. The card has a huge lineup as the best our showing up as they always do.

N8 Mattson © vs. Johnny Spade (SMWA Championship)

N8 Mattson has shown Halo and Alex Shelley the false path that the Coalition walks and now he aims to show Johnny Spade his faults. Spade doesn’t plan on going down easy though.

Deranged & Angeldust © vs. Excalibur & Disco Machine (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

Excalibur lost his match to Slim J due to the interference of Deranged and Angeldust and to balance that out the SMWA has decied to grant Excalibur a shot at their tag team titles and Disco Machine is the man he chose to join him. Is this the end of the Special K reign or just a new level of it?

Danny Daniels vs. Alex Shelley

These two men face off again. Shelley didn’t want to fight Daniels again but Daniels insisted on it and when a shot in the Midwest Invitational was put on the line Shelley stepped up to the challenge.

Quiet Storm vs. B-Boy

Storm makes his return after a long absence and he takes on the So-Cal thug for a spot in the Tournament.

Hydro vs. Matt Sydal

Bobby Quance vs. Sedrick Strong

Conrad Kennedy III vs. Roderick Strong

These two men fight for a spot in the Midwest Invitational Tournament. These two men more than the other men competing for shots have the most to gain by getting into the tournament and neither man is going to go down easily.

The show should be up Tuesday or Wednesday.

Birthday Bash II: The So-Cal Invasion (Detroit)

October 17, 2005

Announcer: Brian Guppie

Color Commentator: Mike Patterson

Patterson: “Welcome to Birthday Bash Two! I’m Mike Patterson and with me on commentary is Brian Guppie. We’ve got a great lineup tonight. In our main event N8 Mattson defends the SMWA Championship against Johnny Spade.”

Guppie: “Mattson has defended the championship against two members of the Coalition already and Johnny Spade is the next man on the list. Special K will defend the SMWA Tag Team Championship against the Southern California team of Excalibur and Disco Machine.”

Patterson: “Danny Daniels takes on Alex Shelley and B-Boy will face Quiet Storm and both of those matches will be for a spot in the Midwest Invitational Tournament which takes place next month.”

Guppie: “Hydro takes on Matt Sydal, Bobby Quance takes on Sedrick Strong and in our opening match Roderick Strong takes on Conrad Kennedy III and they will be fighting for a spot in the tournament.”

Patterson: “Both of those men could really make a name for themselves by getting into the tournament and putting on a good showing.”

Segment 1: CK3 Bitches

Conrad Kennedy III better known as CK3 walks down to the ring haughtily. He steps up onto the apron then goes between the ropes into the ring. He takes a mic from the announcer and addresses the crowd.

CK3: “Alex Shelley may have regaled you fans with his claims of being the man with talent on loan from God, but don’t believe a word he says. That is my claim to fame. He took that because he thought it made him sound cool and it does. But in my case it isn’t just a catchphrase it’s a fact. Alex Shelley will pay for stealing my catchphrase but not know. Tonight I have a match that is very important in my future here. Tonight I will meet Roderick Strong in the ring. Roderick may be big and he may have what many call a ‘back breaking’ offense but I truly am the man with talent on loan from God and it’s going to take more than that to scare me. Roderick when you step into this ring and face off with me there is no shame in just laying down or giving up. I am truly one of the elite. I will prove that tonight and I will prove it in the Midwest Invitational Tournament when I get there.”

OA: 42

Segment 2: Conrad Kennedy III vs. Roderick Strong (Midwest Invitational Qualifier)

Roderick runs down and slides into the ring before his music can start playing and he catches CK3 unprepared and blisters him with some brutal knife edge chops then whips him into the ropes and drops him with a big forearm. CK3 rolls to the outside and recovers then gets onto the apron and steps into the ring. Roderick waits for him and the two men lockup. CK3 goes behind with a hammerlock and the two men go through a chain wrestling sequence which ends with CK3 holding Roderick with a headscissors. Roderick tries to kip up but can’t escape. He rolls to his belly then handstands, sort of, and comes down and gets his head free then jumps forward and gets CK3 with a side headlock. CK3 grabs the bottom rope to break the hold and both men get up to their feet. CK3 goes for another lockup but Roderick just lays into him with some more chops and backs him into the corner. Roderick whips him across the ring and follows right behind but CK3 hand stands on the ropes and comes down behind Roderick and rolls him up for a two count. Roderick quickly gets to his feet and takes CK3 down with a brutal lariat. Roderick pulls CK3 to his feet and whips him into the ropes. Roderick catches him with a big tilt-a-whirl backbreaker then makes a cover for two.

Roderick takes firm control of the match and starts working the back of CK3. Roderick uses some big impact moves and some solid submission moves but CK3 keeps fighting back and manages to break the submissions usually by use of the ropes. Roderick gets frustrated and whips CK3 into the ropes and ducks down for the backbody drop but CK3 sees it coming and drops him with a tornado DDT. CK3 starts a small comeback and works the neck that he just damaged with the DDT but Roderick doesn’t stay down for long. CK3 grabs him with a rear chinlock but Roderick fights to his feet and picks CK3 up for a belly to back suplex then spins him around into a wicked back breaker the draws gasps from the crowd. Roderick slowly gets to his feet then pulls CK3 up. CK3 swings some feeble punches but Roderick avoids them then nails him with stiff powerbomb. Roderick grabs CK3's legs then flips him over with a boston crab. CK3 fights the hold but can’t go anywhere and taps out.

Winner: Roderick Strong (10:42)

Notes: *3/4

OA: 55 CR: 29 MQ: 82

Patterson: “Roderick got a nice victory over Conrad Kennedy III in that match and he has earned his spot in the tournament.”

Guppie: “I’ll say. His offense never ceases to amaze me with how vicious it is. Conrad looked good in the match too but he was out classed by Roderick there.”

Patterson: “Roderick’s brother, Sedrick, fights next and he takes on Bobby Quance. Part of the show name is So-Cal Invasion and Quance is part of that invasion. He has really made his name in California.”

Guppie: “He sure has. He’s a good technician on the mat and he can go to the air with the best of them and he has a great shooting star press that he uses as a finisher.”

Segment 3: Bobby Quance vs. Sedrick Strong

The two men lockup and Quance takes Strong over with an armdrag. The two men go through a fast exchange of moves. They both go for quick falls then kip up to their feet and face off to some applause from the crowd. Strong climbs onto the ropes and mugs for the crowd and Quance nails him with a forearm to the back then takes him off the ropes with a high angle belly to back suplex. Quance takes control of the match and he starts to work the midsection of Strong over. He hits a nice gutbuster then follows up with some hard knees to the midsection of Strong. Quance continues to control the match and whips Strong into the corner then hits two shoulder charges to the midsection. Quance goes for the third but Strong lifts himself up and over Quance and takes him over with a sunset flip for a two count. Quance quickly gets to his feet only to be caught by Strong with a urinage suplex and Quance bails to the outside. Strong waits for Quance to stop and nurses his midsection the charges and hits a hands free plancha on Quance. Strong takes the match back into the ring with the momentum in his favor. Strong whips Quance into the ropes and Quance comes back and hits Strong with a big kick to the gut then follows up with a snap powerbomb. Quance points to the corner then climbs to the top rope and hits Strong with a shooting star press for the three count.

Winner: Bobby Quance (9:32)

Notes: *1/4

OA: 54 CR: 34 MQ: 75

Patterson: “Sedrick Strong loses to the debuting Bobby Quance. Quance targeted the midsection of Strong setting up the shooting star press and he stayed on it the entire match.”

Guppie: “Quance has really made a strong debut here tonight and I think we are going to see some great things from him in the future.”

Patterson: “I think you are right about that. Up next Hydro of special K takes on Matt Sydal. Hydro is known for his big spots but he can really go on the mat. Sydal is much the same although not quite as good as Hydro on the mat.”

Guppie: “And that is what gives Hydro the advantage in this match. He can throw some big impact moves that don’t hurt himself. Sydal really likes to go to the air and open himself up for missing and hurting himself. High flying is a style that can lead to losing when you open the match up too much and that has happened to Sydal before.”

Segment 4: Hydro vs. Matt Sydal

The two men circle warily and Hydro nails Sydal with a dropkick to the knees. Sydal flops face first to the mat and Hydro grabs him with a front facelock and holds him down on the mat. Hydro slowly pulls him up and whips him into the ropes then takes him down with a big back elbow. Hydro gets a hammerlock on Sydal on the mat but Sydal quickly escapes it and the two men start trading holds on the mat. Sydal brings Hydro to his feet with a dragon sleeper and Hydro gets a foot on the ropes and Sydal drops Hydro with a reverse DDT and breaks the hold. Hydro is slow to get up but Sydal gives him all the time he needs. As Hydro gets to his feet Sydal goes for a superkick but Hydro moves out of the way and Sydal racks himself over the top rope. Hydro grabs Sydal with a full nelson and drags him into the ring. Sydal breaks the full nelson and Hydro grabs him with a rear waistlock and drops him on his head with a vicious german suplex. Hydro makes the cover and gets a two count. Hydro stays on Sydal and delivers some hard stomps before pulling him up by his hair. Hydro whips Sydal into the ropes and catches him with a nice leg lariat. Hydro controls the match and wears Sydal down and works on the neck. Hydro whips Sydal into the corner and follows with a big clothesline. Hydro sets Sydal up on the top rope then climbs up after him. Hydro lands a couple of forearms then goes for the superplex. Sydal fights back and blocks it the first time then hits Hydro with some forearms to the midsection. Sydal flips over and takes Hydro down with a sunset powerbomb and gets a two count.

Both men slowly get to their feet and Hydro charges with a big clothesline but Sydal ducks it and connects with a superkick on Hydro. Sydal makes the cover and gets another two count. Sydal pulls Hydro to his feet and goes for a german suplex but Hydro blocks it then goes behind Sydal. He hooks the arms for a tiger suplex but Sydal blocks it by hooking his leg around Hydro’s. Sydal slams his head back into Hydro’s breaking the hold then spins around and drops Hydro with a DDT. Sydal fires up and the crowd rallies behind him. Sydal controls the match wearing Hydro down. Sydal sends Hydro to the mat with a powerslam then climbs up to the top rope and goes for the shooting star press but Hydro rolls out of the way and Sydal hits the mat hard. As Sydal gets to his feet Hydro grabs him from behind and hits a tiger suplex. Hydro bridges and gets a three count.

Winner: Hydro (13:28)

Notes: 3/4*

OA: 52 CR: 35 MQ: 70

Patterson: “What a contest between those two men. Hydro did a nice job of setting up the tiger suplex by working the neck of Sydal.”

Guppie: “Matt Sydal has shown some great potential in the SMWA but his win loss record is pretty weak. He really needs to get a win soon. Hydro however hasn’t had that many opportunities considering that he’s been here since the beginning but he always delivers in the ring.”

Patterson: “Indeed he does. Our next match is going to be a stiff one as Quiet Storm faces the So-Cal Thug B-Boy. Storm has been gone from the SMWA for quite some time but now he’s back and he’s getting a chance to earn a spot in the Midwest Invitational.”

Guppie: “B-Boy isn’t going to be an easy opponent to beat. He’s one of the hardest hitters on the indy scene. Storm hits hard too but he’s not in B-Boy’s level. Storm is going to have to rely on his speed and technical wrestling and hope those skills are better than B-Boy’s.”

Segment 5: Quiet Storm vs. B-Boy (Midwest Invitational Qualifier)

Storm and B-Boy face off in the middle of the ring and Storm says something to B-Boy and both men take off their shirts and face off. They start exchanging chops and B-Boy gains the advantage as Storm is the first to flinch. B-Boy gets cocky and talks to the crowd and Storm jacks him with a brutal forearm. B-Boy replies in kind and the two men let fly with forearms and then they both fall to the mat exhausted as the crowd cheers loudly. The ref administers the ten count and both men get up at five. They face off again and they just start going at it with stiff strikes again and B-Boy gains the advantage with a poke to the eyes. B-Boy backs Storm into the corner then lays into him with chops and Storm falls down sitting up in the corner. B-Boy goes to the opposite corner then charges and delivers a dropkick that sends him to the outside and Storm follows as well as he falls hard to the floor. The crowd claps for B-Boy who picks Storm up and powerslams him onto the gym floor. B-Boy takes control of the match on the outside and takes Storm back into the ring. Storm gets to his feet first and nails B-Boy with some stomps as he enters. Storm pulls B-Boy to his feet and calls for the storm cradle driver but B-Boy escapes it and spins Storm around and into an exploder suplex. Storm gets to a knee and B-Boy follows that up with a shining wizard. B-Boy makes the cover and gets two before Storm puts a foot on the rope.

B-Boy pulls Storm to his feet and goes for the cross special brainbuster but Storm floats down behind B-Boy. Storm grabs B-Boy and drops him on his head with the storm cradle driver. Storm holds B-Boy and only gets a two count! Storm can’t believe B-Boy kicked out and pulls him up to his feet and goes for another storm cradle driver but B-Boy rolls him with a body scissors for a two count. Storm gets to his feet and B-Boy drops him with a brainbuster. Storm gets to a knee and B-Boy connects with a shining wizard. B-Boy hooks the leg and gets the three count.

Winner: B-Boy (11:57)

Notes: **3/4

OA: 67 CR: 46 MQ: 89

Patterson: “I told you it was going to be a stiff match up and I wasn’t disappointed.”

Guppie: “Quiet Storm kept fighting back but B-Boy really controlled that match. Storm came close to winning with the storm cradle driver but it was a momentary moment of control in the match and B-Boy went back to the offensive to finish him off.”

Patterson: “B-Boy is really showing his killer instinct in the ring as he just laid into Quiet Storm from the onset. He definitely earned his spot in the Midwest Invitational Tournament. Our next match is also for a spot in the tournament and this one pits Danny Daniels against Alex Shelley.”

Guppie: “The last time these guys fought each other was at the Double Dragon show where Alex Shelley beat Daniels to retain the SMWA Championship. Daniels put a hurting on Shelleys’ neck but Shelley countered a tombstone piledriver to win the match. Daniels likes to use his power to beat an opponent down and he also likes to use piledrivers. Shelley on the other hand can work any body part. His Shell Shock works the neck so he oftens goes that path although he has a nice STF variation that really rips on the abs and back.”

Patterson: “Daniels is competent on the mat and working other body parts as well though Brian. This is going to be a contest between two highly skilled wrestlers and it’s a shame that they can’t both be in the Tournament.”

Guppie: “I have a lot of faith in Danny Daniels as you know. He barely lost the last tournament and he is going to come back and win this time.”

Segment 6: One more shot

Danny Daniels walks down to the ring slowly. He gets onto the apron then steps between the ropes into the ring. He walks over to the ring announcer and takes the mic.

Daniels: “I’ve worked my way up the chain in this promotion and I earned a title shot against Alex Shelley. Granted I lost it but Shelley was just lucky. After losing that match I fell down to the bottom of the card if I was lucky enough to even be booked. Last year I was cheated out of the Midwest Invitational Tournament. This year I might not even be booked in it! I am a former Ted Petty Invitational Champion. A sixteen man tournament that pits the best technical wrestlers against each other. I’ve been champion in countless promotions and this promotion makes me qualify for their tournament? I don’t know who you people are but at least I’ve been booked a proper place in the card. It may not be the main event but it’s pretty damn close and that’s not bad, for now. Shelley you are in for a world of hurt tonight. Last time we met you came out as the victor but we both know it wasn’t easy and we both know that you were the more battered of the two of us after the match. Tonight we’re going to put on a great match but I’m coming out on top this time. You aren’t going to catch me with one big move that can change the match. No, tonight I’m going to destroy you piece by piece. I’m going to beat you tonight and then I’m going to win the tournament and get some goddamn respect!”

OA: 48

Segment 7: Danny Daniels vs. Alex Shelley (Midwest Invitational Qualifier)

The two men face off and Shelley takes Daniels down with an armdrag and goes right into an armbar. Daniels gets up to his feet then rolls forward and gets to his feet and escapes the armbar and puts Shelley in an arm wringer. The two men go back and forth with holds and neither man can gain a clear advantage. Shelley grabs Daniels in a front facelock and Daniels backs Shelley into the corner. The ref calls for the break and Daniels lands a forearm as they break. Shelley looks pissed and he tackles Daniels and starts raining punches down on him until the ref pulls him off. Daniels gets to his feet and Shelley tackles him again. Daniels covers himself as Shelley throws the punches and then bridges and dumps Shelley over. Shelley gets to his feet and Daniels cuts him off with a dropkick to the legs. Daniels starts to work the left leg of Shelley. Daniels goes for a figure four but Shelley reverses it with a small package that gets him a quick two count. Both men get to their feet quickly although Shelley favors his left leg. Daniels throws a kick at the left leg but Shelley avoids it then nails Daniels with a standing enziguri that comes out of nowhere. Shelley massages his leg as Daniels gets to his feet. Shelley charges and takes him down with a big lariat. Shelley pulls Daniels up and goes for the shell shock but Daniels fights out of it with some elbows to the side of the head of Shelley then kicks him in the left leg and takes Shelley down. Daniels follows up with a dropkick to the face of Shelley that lays him out. Daniels grabs the left leg with a spinning toe hold Funk style. Shelley reaches back and grabs the ropes to break the hold.

Shelley pulls himself up using the ropes and Daniels takes his legs out from under him with a chop block that folds Shelley up as he hits the mat. Daniels grabs Shelley and pulls him into the middle of the ring. Daniels holds onto the left leg and goes for a figure four but Shelley plants his foot on Daniels ass and shoves him into the corner. Shelley gets to his feet and ducks a clothesline from Daniels and drops him with a neckbreaker. Daniels rolls to the outside to recover. Shelley gets to his feet then charges for a suicide dive but Daniels sees it coming and stops him with a forearm to the face as he starts to come through the ropes. Daniels climbs onto the apron then delivers a legdrop to the back of Shelley’s head choking him on the ropes. Daniels rolls into the ring and pulls Shelley out of the ropes and makes a cover for a two count. Daniels works on the left leg of Shelley again and he starts really working it over. Shelley fights back but Daniels has too much control on the leg and is able to nullify what little offense Shelley gets quickly. Daniels allows Shelley to get to his feet after hitting a backbreaker as he yells at the crowd. Shelley tries a kick with his right leg but Daniels catches it and wags his finger at him. Shelley delivers an enziguri with his left leg and both men are down. Daniels gets to his feet first but Shelley is close behind. Daniels whips Shelley into the ropes but Shelley staggers and falls, leaning against the ropes. Daniels comes towards him and Shelley grabs him and takes him down with a side russian legsweep.

Shelley gets to his feet and points at his head. Shelley climbs up to the top rope slowly and stabilizing his leg as he climbs. Daniels gets to his feet and Shelley comes off with a crossbody block that gets him a two count. Daniels kicks out strongly. He gets to his feet and Shelley catches him with a tornado DDT. Shelley makes another cover and again gets a two count. Daniels gets to his feet and Shelley grabs him for a vertical suplex and Shelley starts to lift him up but doesn’t have the strength in his leg. Shelley lets Daniels down and Daniels drops him on his head with a brainbuster. Daniels pulls Shelley to his feet again and goes for the tombstone piledriver. Shelley goes backwards and gets Daniels up for the tombstone then drops him on his head. Shelley hooks the leg and makes the cover for a two count. Shelley grabs rolls Daniels onto his back then locks in an STF. Shelley grabs the right arm of Daniels and places it behind his head torquing the abs of Daniels. Daniels is in pain as he slowly crawls forward and grabs the ropes with his left hand. Shelley pulls Daniels up still favoring his left leg and goes for the shell shock but Daniels holds the ropes and Shelley slams down to the mat. Daniels pulls Shelley to his feet and drops him on his head with a piledriver. Daniels grabs the left leg of Shelley and goes for the figure four but Shelley grabs him with a small package and gets the three count.

Winner: Alex Shelley (17:32)

Notes: **3/4

OA: 67 CR: 48 MQ: 87

Guppie: “Alex Shelley steals the win over Danny Daniels! Daniels controlled the match working the leg of Shelley and then in the end Shelley makes a lucky reversal and gets a quick three count to end the match.”

Patterson: “Danny Daniels can’t believe that Shelley won the match either. That piledriver took a lot out of Shelley but he still managed to get the small package for the three count.”

Guppie: “Daniels was robbed I say. Alex Shelley may get away with that this time but it’s not going to work the next time Daniels faces him.”

Patterson: “We’ll see. In our next match Angeldust and Deranged defend the SMWA Tag Team Championships against Excalibur and Disco Machine who are a popular tag team on the West Coast.”

Guppie: “Not only are they popular but they are good too. These guys are representing Pro-Wrestling Guerilla and they are getting this title shot because Angeldust and Deranged cost Excalibur a match against Slim J on our last show. This is going to be a hell of a match Mike!”

Segment 8: Special K © vs. Excalibur & Disco Machine (SMWA Tag Team Championships)

Excalibur and Disco make their way to the ring first and they get jumped from behind by Angeldust and Deranged. Deranged takes Disco into the ring while Angeldust brawls with Excalibur on the outside of the ring. Deranged whips Disco into the ropes then catches him with a big spinning heel kick. Deranged makes a cover and gets a one count. Deranged whips Disco into the ropes again and goes for a clothesline but Disco ducks it then dives through the ropes into Angeldust and Excalibur with a suicide dive. Deranged is alone in the ring but he goes to the ropes and waits for everybody to get to their feet then jumps onto the top rope and springboards off with a somersault senton that knocks everybody to the ground and sends him over the guardrail and into the vacated seats. Excalibur pulls Deranged to his feet and flips him over the guardrail slamming him to the floor. Excalibur pulls him to his feet again then throws him into the ring. He goes up to the top rope and goes for a leg drop but Deranged moves out of the way. Both men get to their corners and tag in their partners. Angeldust charges and spins for a front kick but Disco ducks it and Angeldust slams to the mat. He gets to his feet and Disco grabs his arm and flips him over and holds him with an armwringer. Angeldust tries to get up from the seated position and Disco nails him with some stiff kicks to the back before breaking the hold.

Disco controls Angeldust and he and Excalibur make a lot of tags as they keep him isolated in their corner. They work Angeldust over weakening him for a big move to put him away. Excalibur attempts to do just that with a bridging german suplex but Deranged breaks the cover up with a running senton across the midsection of Excalibur. Disco tries to come in but the ref holds him back. Deranged pulls Excalibur to his feet and hits him with a snap suplex then retreats to his corner. Angeldust slowly crawls over and tags him in. Deranged comes in the ring quickly and cuts Excalibur off before he can make the tag to Disco. Deranged nails Excalibur with a forearm then starts nailing him with kicks in the leg and midsection before finishing him with a spin kick that catches him on the side of the head. Deranged goes up to the top rope and waits as Excalibur gets to his feet. Deranged comes off the top rope and clocks Excalibur with a big spinning heel kick. Deranged makes the cover and gets a two count before Disco breaks it up with a stomp to Deranged’s back. Deranged complains to the ref and he holds Disco back allowing Angeldust to come in and double team Excalibur. The Champs work Excalibur over in their corner and wear him down slowly. Angeldust locks a sleeper hold in on Excalibur in their corner and Disco starts to get the fans going and Excalibur starts to rally as their cheers build. Excalibur backs Angeldust into the corner and knocks Deranged to the floor with a back elbow. Excalibur breaks the sleeper hold with several elbows to Angeldust’s head then he rolls forward and springs forward tagging Disco as he falls to the mat.

Disco comes in like a house on fire and flattens Angeldust with a big clothesline. Deranged climbs back up on the apron and Disco takes him out with a superkick sending him back to the floor. Angeldust gets to his feet and Disco grabs him and drops him with a belly to back suplex that folds Angeldust up. Disco makes the cover and gets a two count. Disco whips Angeldust into the ropes and Angeldust comes out and catches Disco with a swinging neckbreaker. Angeldust gets to his feet and tags in Deranged who comes in with a springboard dropkick that sends Disco back down to the mat. Deranged gets cocky and mocks Disco by dancing and he pays for it as Disco gets to his feet and delivers a stiff chop across his chest. Disco whips Deranged into the corner and follows with a running forearm. Deranged staggers out of the corner and Disco grabs him and hits a vertical suplex. Disco tags in Excalibur who stands in the corner and Disco grabs Deranged and goes for a catapault. As Deranged is up in the air Excalibur charges and takes him down with a big forearm. Excalibur pulls Deranged up to his feet and grabs him with a rear waistlock but Deranged breaks it up with some elbows then grabs Excalibur with his own rear waistlock. Deranged runs Excalibur into the ropes then flips him over and grabs a handful of tights for the cover and gets a three count.

Winner: Special K (18:39)

Notes: **

OA: 62 CR: 44 MQ: 80

Patterson: “Deranged and Angeldust pull out a lucky victory against Excalibur and Disco Machine. Deranged was taking a beating and he used the tights to gain the victory.”

Guppie: “First they cheated Excalibur in his match against Slim J and now they cheat him and Disco Machine out of the Tag Team Championships. I thought we were going to get some respectable champions here tonight.”

Patterson: “Unfortunately not as Deranged cheated to keep those tag team titles around their waist. Disco and Excalibur are still mad at the ref as Special K has bailed to the back quickly. It’s main event time now though. N8 Mattson defends the SMWA Championship against Johnny Spade.”

Guppie: “Johnny Spade is the third member of the Coalition that N8 Mattson has defended the SMWA Championship against claiming that they proclaimed themselves as righteous falsely. Mattson is on a nine match winning streak. Johnny Spade is really going to have to shine to end that streak tonight.”

Patterson: “Plus Mattson has been using more hardcore tactics in his title defenses as he’s been using whatever weapons he can find and he has been trying to finish people off by putting them through a table.”

Midwest Invitational Tournament II

www.smwawrestling.com

October 21, 2005

It’s time for the second annual Midwest Invitational Tournament and this one is set to be bigger than the first one. The first year the tournament was used to find a new star among a crop of newcomers. This year it is set to feature the best already in the promotion and to let somebody show that they are the best man in the promotion. Eight men will enter the tournament and only one man will walk out as the victor. The eight entrants have already been confirmed and here they are: Chase Stevens, Roderick Strong, Vito Thomaselli, B-Boy, Slim J, Jimmy Jacobs, Alex Shelley and Excalibur.

Alex Shelley, Roderick Strong and B-Boy all earned spots in the tournament at the last show. Slim J, Jimmy Jacobs and Vito Thomaselli have been granted spots due to their achievements here in the SMWA. Chase Stevens has been brought in from NWA:TNA where he has proven himself as a singles competitor. Excalibur is the Pro-Wrestling Guerilla representative in the tournament but his work speaks for itself.

The first night of action is set for November 26 and will feature the first round matches plus other non-tournament matches. The second night takes place December 3 on the following Saturday. Unlike last year and most tournament we will not be having a two night show as the costs of running that way are too high for us plus we can expose more people to the great action as the first night will be held in Ypsilanti and the second night will be in Mount Pleasant. We’ll have more information on the card coming soon.

The Show is set for November 26 in Ypsilanti. The first round should prove to be exciting as will our non-tournament matches.

Matt Sydal’s record is spotty but he always does good in the ring. He’s impressed the board of directors enough to get a shot at the champion. N8 Mattson doesn’t care who he fights. He says that all will fall before the might of his Lord.

Angeldust & Deranged © vs. Halo & Johnny Spade (SMWA Tag Team Championship) (60 minute time limit)

Halo and Johnny Spade get a rematch of the match where Angeldust and Deranged became the first champions. Spade and Halo don’t want to be denied again but Angeldust and Deranged aren’t going to fall easily.

Tournament Bouts (30 minute time limit)

Chase Stevens vs. Roderick Strong

Slim J vs. Vito Thomaselli

Jimmy Jacobs vs. Excalibur

Midwest Invitational II: Opening Round (Ypsilanti)

November 26, 2005

Announcer: Brian Guppie

Color Commentator: Mike Patterson

Patterson: “Welcome to the first night of action in the Second annual Midwest Invitational Tournament. I’m Mike Patterson and alongside me on commentary is Brian Guppie. We’ve got an excellent show lined up for you fans tonight. In our main event N8 Mattson defends the SMWA Championship against Matt Sydal.”

Guppie: “We have Special K defending the tag team titles against Johnny Spade and Halo in a rematch from the match to crown the first champions.”

Patterson: “And of course we have the first round of the tournament with Alex Shelley facing B-Boy, Jimmy Jacobs versus Excalibur, Slim J squares off with Vito Thomaselli and Chase Stevens challenges Roderick Strong.”

Guppie: “And we start the show off with a non-tournament bout as Josh Daniels makes his return against Bobby Quance.”

Patterson: “Josh Daniels is coming back after beating some personal demons and we wish him the best luck in the future in dealing with those problems. This should be a good match. Daniels is a brawler and power wrestler, very similar to Roderick Strong. Bobby Quance is a technical wrestler and he can fly with the best of them.”

Segment 1: Josh Daniels vs. Bobby Quance

The two men start the match with a lockup and go into a chain wrestling sequence as they exchange holds on the mat. They get to their feet in a stalemate and Daniels nails Quance with a blistering chop. Daniels nails Quance with some brutal forearms and a few chops thrown in then drops Quance with a big powerslam. Daniels drops an elbow but Quance rolls out of the way. Daniels gets to his feet and Quance snapmares him then leaps over with a neck whip. The two men go back and forth in the early parts of the match with neither man being able to gain the advantage for long. Daniels clobbers Quance with a massive lariat as he bounces off the ropes. Daniels pulls Quance to his feet and hits him with a sharp snap suplex. Daniels takes control of the match at this point and works Quance over, wearing him down. Daniels hits a belly to back suplex then puts Quance into a boston crab. Quance slowly crawls forwards and grabs the ropes to break the hold. Daniels pulls Quance to his feet and drills him with a chop then whips him into the ropes. Daniels goes for a spinebuster but Quance counters it with a big tornado DDT that drops Daniels right on his head. Quance gets to his feet and quickly ascends the ropes then hits Daniels with a missile dropkick as he gets to his feet. Quance makes the cover and gets a two count.

Quance takes over the match at this point and starts to wear Daniels down with a fast paced assault. As Daniels starts to slow down Quance takes the match down to the mat. He grabs Daniels with a rear waistlock then picks him up and slams him face first to the mat then locks in a front facelock. Daniels gets to his feet and Quance jumps up and wraps his legs around Daniels and pulls him back down with a front chancery. Daniels gets to his feet lifting Quance up then slams him down to the mat and Quance breaks the hold. Daniels staggers backwards and falls against the ropes. Quance gets to his feet and Daniels explodes off the ropes with a running back elbow. Daniels picks Quance up and goes for a powerbomb but Quance reverses it with a hurrincanranna that gets a two count. Daniels rises to his feet and Quance hits him with a dropkick to the knee then grabs him and drops him on his head with a brainbuster. Quance climbs up to the top rope and comes off with a nice shooting star press. Quance hooks the leg of Daniels and gets the three count.

Winner: Bobby Quance (13:23)

Notes: *1/2

OA: 54 CR: 29 MQ: 80

Patterson: “What an match from those two young men. Daniels hasn’t lost a step while he was away and Bobby Quance looked sharp as always.”

Guppie: “Those two guys have really got a future here. Quance’s speed just allowed him to pull out the victory. Daniels needs to shake the little bit of ring rust he has off and if they meet again the ending could very well turn out differently.”

Patterson: “Very true. Our next match is a first round match and Roderick Strong takes on Chase Stevens.”

Guppie: “Stevens has been an NWA Tag Team Champion with Andy Douglas in NWA:TNA and he’s currently a top contender for the X-Division Championship. We’ll see if he can hang with Roderick Strong who’s offense really packs a wallop.”

Segment 2: The Strong Man

Roderick Strong comes through the entrance followed by Jamie Koeppe in a short skirt suit. Strong jumps onto the apron and holds the ropes open for her as she gets into the ring. Jamie straightens her skirt then grabs the mic from the announcer.

Jamie: “Before you people stands a specimen of what a professional wrestler should be. Roderick is going to put on a performance the likes of which have never been seen before. I know many of you fans consider Roderick an underdog. Unlike many of the other competitors he hasn’t been here in the SMWA for very long. He doesn’t have quite as much exposure around the country. But you are thinking wrong. Roderick has that experience. He may not have wrestled around the country in the main event but he’s been around. He has experience but more importantly he has skill and he has one of the best repertoires of moves of any wrestler on the indy scene today. Chase Stevens is going to be the first person to fall victim to the back breaking style of Roderick in the tournament but he won’t be the last. Tonight prepared to be impressed by the best wrestler in the tournament as he’s going to win the entire tournament. In his match with Chase he’s going to show you all just why he is going to win the tournament.”

OA: 65

Segment 3: Chase Stevens vs. Roderick Strong (Tournament Match)

The two men lockup and Stevens goes behind with a hammerlock. Strong doesn’t take that for long as he swings a big back elbow that staggers Stevens. Strong follows up with a big spinning lariat that folds Stevens up on the back of his head. Strong takes control of the match and dominates Stevens right from the get go. Stevens gets a few good shots in but Strong manages to keep him on the defensive for the most part. Strong targets the back of Stevens as he is fond of doing. Strong makes a mistake as he goes for the tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for the second time and Stevens counters it with a spinning headscissors. Strong gets up halfway and Stevens grabs his head and flips over with a standing blockbuster. Both men are down and get to their feet at the ref’s count of six. Stevens nails Strong with some good punches but Strong fires back with a stiff chop to the chest of Stevens then steamrolls him with a clothesline to the back of the head. Strong shoves Stevens into the corner face first and delivers some hard forearms to the small of the back then hits a bridging german suplex out of the corner that gets him a three count.

Winner: Roderick Strong (9:34)

Notes: **

OA: 59 CR: 37 MQ: 82

Patterson: “I expected Chase Stevens to make a better showing here as he has quite the reputation from NWA:TNA but Roderick Strong just dominated him in that match.”

Guppie: “Jamie Koeppe isn’t blowing smoke when she talks about how good these Strong Brothers are. Roderick proved that again tonight and he’s going to face the winner of Alex Shelley and B-Boy later in the night.”

Patterson: “That match should prove to be a tougher challenge for Strong. Our second tournament match pits Special K leader, Slim J, against Coalition member, Vito Thomaselli.”

Guppie: “Vito Thomaselli has been really picking up his game lately but Slim J is still one of the best competitors here and this is going to be a close contest.”

Segment 4: Slim J vs. Vito Thomaselli (Tournament Match)

The match starts off quickly as Slim J catches Vito with a spinning heel kick from the onset. Vito gets to his feet off balance and Slim J controls him with a series of armdrags and the like before following an armdrag up into an armbar. Vito doesn’t stay there for long as he works his way out of it and gets Slim J into a nice keylock submission before he gets a foot on the ropes to break the hold. Both men get to their feet and they face off and slowly circle each other again. Vito catches Slim J with an armdrag and takes him over into an armbar of his own. Slim J tries to wriggle free but Vito puts his knee square in the back of Slim J preventing him from moving. Slim J refuses to tap though so Vito breaks the hold and backs off. Vito climbs up for a superplex but Slim J fights him off with some punches then shoves him off to the mat. Vito makes the cover and gets a two count. Vito takes control of the match and works Slim J’s neck. Vito hits a nice series of suplexes and caps it off with an exploder suplex. Vito makes another cover and still only gets a two count. Vito pulls Slim J up and grabs him with a dragon sleeper. Slim J fights the hold and rises up enough to spin around then hit Vito with a northern lights suplex that gets him a two count of his own. Slim J gains the momentum for a short while but Vito regains it with a big forearm that spins Slim J around and allows him to nails Slim J with a belly to back suplex that drops Slim J on his head. Vito makes a cover and gets a two count. Vito slams his fists on the mat then goes up to the top rope. He perches there waiting until Slim J gets to his feet. Vito comes off with a crossbody block but Slim J counters it with a dropkick to the midsection as he comes down. Both men are slow to there feet and Slim J grabs Vito and delivers a tornado DDT. Slim J makes the cover and once again gets a two count.

Both men are looking tired but they get to their feet and face off landing hard strikes on each other. Both men stagger but neither go down. Vito blocks a forearm from Slim J then both men spin around and land rolling elbows at the same time and both men hit the mat. The ref applies the ten count and both men get to their feet at the count of eight. Vito charges and Slim J grabs the top rope and drops down sending Vito over to the outside. Slim J does a 180 as he jumps onto the top rope then springboards off with a rolling senton that sends him and Vito slamming into the guardrail. Slim J gets up first and rolls Vito back into the ring and yells at some fans before turning around into a baseball slide from Vito. Vito slides out of the ring and rolls Slim J in then rolls in after him. Vito picks Slim J up in a fireman’s carry and goes for a DVD but Slim J flips over onto his feet then runs off the ropes and runs into a big shoulder tackle from Vito. Vito picks Slim J back up and drops him on his head with a DVD and holds onto Slim J for the three count.

Winner: Vito Thomaselli (17:33)

Notes: ***1/2

OA: 74 CR: 55 MQ: 93

Patterson: “And that match was just from the opening round folks! Those two men gave it their all and they both wanted to win that match but Vito Thomaselli came out on top.”

Guppie: “It’s good to see somebody actually beat a member of Special K. Vito Thomaselli will go on to face the winner of the next match in the second round.”

Patterson: “And that next match pits Jimmy Jacobs against Excalibur. Jacobs is a former SMWA Champion and a force to be reckoned with.”

Guppie: “Excalibur is no slouch either. He’s a legend in the Southern California wrestling scene and he’s got the skills to back it up.”

Segment 5: Jimmy Jacobs vs. Excalibur (Tournament Match)

The two men face off and shake hands before the match starts. Excalibur goes for a lockup and Jacobs rocks him with a slap across the face. Exalibur is stunned for a short time then responds with his own slap across the face. Jacobs checks for blood then extends his hand and Excalibur takes it. Jacobs pulls Excalibur forward and takes him down with a short arm clothesline. Jacobs stomps on Excalibur then pulls him to his feet and whips him into the corner. Excalibur puts his foot on the ropes to stop form going into the corner then turns around and nearly decapitates Jacobs with a clothesline that drops him hard. Excalibur raises his arms as the crowd applauds. Jacobs gets to his feet groggily and Excalibur grabs him and takes him over with a snap suplex. Excalibur controls the match with some basic junior heavyweight offense with no specific target. Excalibur whips Jacobs into the ropes and catches him for a urinage but Jacobs fights out with some elbows to the side of the head then takes Excalibur over with a hiptoss. Excalibur gets to his feet and Jacobs hits him with a nice dropkick. Jacobs takes control of the match and displays his offense. He keeps a focus on the neck of Excalibur and stretches him with a chinlock with a knee stuck right in the upper back. Excalibur yells at the ref that the move hurts before he slowly fights to his feet and turns the move around and wraps Jacobs’ arms around and chokes him with his own arms. Jacobs chokes for a short time then he ducks over and flips Excalibur over his head to the mat breaking the hold.

Excalibur gets to his feet and Jacobs goes for the contra code but Excalibur counters it by straddling Jacobs on the top rope. Excalibur springboards off the middle rope and spins around with a kick to the back of Jacobs’ head that sends him tumbling to the outside. Excalibur waits until Jacobs gets to his feet then launches himself over the top with a crossbody block. Winner: Jimmy Jacobs (11:52)

Notes: *3/4

OA: 63 CR: 49 MQ: 78

Patterson: “Jimmy Jacobs picks up a win over Excalibur to move onto the second round.”

Guppie: “Both of those men put on a good show but Jacobs was the one who came out on top tonight. Jimmy Jacobs will face Vito Thomaselli in the second round of the tournament.”

Patterson: “That should be an exciting match. Roderick Strong faces the winner of this match as Alex Shelley takes on B-Boy.”

Guppie: “I know I’ve been waiting to see this match since B-Boy showed up here and I bet a lot of our fans were to. Alex Shelley is one of the best technical wrestlers on the indy circuit right now. B-Boy is known for his stiff strikes but he can go on the mat as well. These two men blend everything together so well. This is going to be a close contest.”

Segment 6: Alex Shelley vs. B-Boy (Tournament Match)

The two men face off in the ring and slowly circle. They lockup and B-Boy goes behind Shelley with a rear waistlock. Shelley lands a couple of back elbows to B-Boy then goes behind with his own rear waistlock. Shelley picks him up and slams him face first to the mat then backs off allowing B-Boy to get to his feet. The two men face off and go into a lockup again. Shelley makes the first move as he goes behind with a hammerlock. B-Boy quickly goes under and turns it into his own hammerlock. B-Boy holds the hammerlock for a while before Shelley ducks under and takes his hammerlock back. B-Boy fights the hold and throws a few back elbows that miss. He then jumps up and takes Shelley over with a snapmare but Shelley holds onto the arm and flips B-Boy over and keeps the hammerlock on but B-Boy gets a foot on the ropes and breaks up the hold. Shelley lets go and rolls backwards to his feet as B-Boy stands up. The two men lockup again and this time go through a faster more varied chain wrestling sequence as they go from standing down to on the mat and all around and Shelley ends the sequence with a side headlock on B-Boy. B-Boy slowly gets to his feet then hits Shelley with a few forearms to the stomach then lifts him up and drops him on his head with a belly to back suplex. B-Boy gets to his feet and basks in the mixed boos and cheers from the crowd. Shelley gets to his feet and B-Boy snapmares him over then nails him with a stiff kick to the spine. B-Boy shakes his head then delivers an even stiffer kick that has Shelley yell out in pain. B-Boy smiles as he grabs Shelley with a rear chinlock. Shelley slowly rises to his feet then grabs the head of B-Boy and drops down with a jaw breaker to free himself.

B-Boy staggers off and Shelley meets him with a knife edge chop. The chop only seems to awaken B-Boy as he responds with a brutal chop. Shelley replies with his own but B-Boy only delivers another stiffer chop. Shelley goes to throw another chop but B-Boy cuts him off with a series of forearms that back Shelley into the corner. B-Boy unloads with a series of knife edge chops that he ends with a double chop and Shelley drops down in the corner. B-Boy goes to the opposite corner then charges with a dropkick to the face of Shelley that sends both men to the outside although B-Boy lands on his feet and Shelley tumbles to the outside. B-Boy takes it to Shelley on the outside using the guardrails to add impact to irish whips. B-Boy starts getting cocky and Shelley hits him with a kick to the gut and a DDT on the carpeted floor and both men are down. B-Boy is the first to his feet and he goes to pick Shelley up but Shelley nails him with a shoulder to the midsection then delivers a vertical suplex on the outside. Shelley drops a couple of knees to the right shoulder of B-Boy then grabs the arm with a fujiwara armbar and B-Boy slowly moves sideways and gets a foot on the ropes to break the hold and pull himself to his feet.

B-Boy gets up and moves forward and Shelley catches him with a dropkick to the right arm and B-Boy hits the mat grabbing his arm. Shelley goes for a cross armbreaker but B-Boy hooks his hands together. Shelley tries to break the grip then gives up on the hold and lets B-Boy get to his feet in a show of sportsmanship. B-Boy slowly gets to a knee then leans forward and grabs Shelley by the front of his trunks and sends him into the ring post. Shelley pulls himself out of the corner woozily and B-Boy sends in a stiff chop on Shelley but grabs his arm after delivering it. B-Boy pulls Shelley into the middle of the ring and makes the cover and Shelley just barely kicks out before three. B-Boy pulls Shelley to his feet and goes for a suplex but Shelley reverses his momentum and pulls B-Boy down into a sickening DDT. Shelley locks in an STF on B-Boy and B-Boy fights against the hold. Shelley lets go of the face lock in order to grab the right arm of B-Boy and trap the injured limb behind his head before grabbing the facelock again. B-Boy starts to succumb to the hold and the ref checks him and the arm drops twice but he keeps it up the third time to the grudging admiration of the crowd. B-Boy drags himself ever so slowly to the ropes and grabs them with his left arm and the ref forces Shelley to break the hold.

Shelley breaks the hold but grabs the leg of B-Boy and pulls him into the ring but B-Boy flips onto his back and nails Shelley with a kick to the side of his head. B-Boy gets to his feet nursing the neck and right shoulder. Shelley charges with a clothesline and B-Boy ducks it then bounces off the other ropes and nails Shelley with a big yakuza kick that folds him up on the mat. B-Boy drops down with a cover and gets a long two count. B-Boy pulls Shelley up to his feet and whips him into the ropes. B-Boy ducks down for a backbody drop but Shelley sees it coming and grabs him for a piledriver but B-Boy stops himself from going up and hits his backbody drop. Shelley gets up to one knee and B-Boy charges and hits a shining wizard and Shelley drops to the mat. B-Boy drags himself over and drapes an arm over Shelley for the three count.

Winner: B-Boy (22:38)

OA: 62 CR: 47 MQ: 77

Patterson: “What a display by those two men! Shelley got clocked in the head so many times in that match and Shelley worked his neck and shoulder throughout the match.”

Guppie: “That is why people were looking forward to this match. And you know that two men who are this good are going to meet again and that match should be even more intense.”

Patterson: “In the second round of the tournament Roderick Strong will take on B-Boy who is one of the few who can truly claim that they are a harder hitter.”

Guppie: “That’s going to be a brutal matchup to watch. It’s time for our Tag Team Title match as Angeldust and Deranged defend the belts against the team they beat to become the first champions.”

Patterson: “Johnny Spade and Halo don’t want to lose to these two again but they might not have what it takes no matter how determined they are. Angeldust and Deranged are proving to be one of the most dominant tag teams I’ve ever seen.”

Segment 7: Special K © vs. Johnny Spade & Halo (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

Deranged starts the match facing off against Halo. The two men go through a quick exchange of armbars and the like before tagging in their partners. Spade and Angeldust go through a chain wrestling sequence and Spade captures Angeldust with a headscissors. Angeldust kips up to his feet to escape the hold. Spade grabs him from behind and drops him on his head with a saido suplex. Spade takes control of the match for a while before Angeldust makes a comeback by tripping him up with a drop toe hold. Spade gets to his feet covering his face and Angeldust grabs him from behind and takes him down with a reverse russian legsweep. Angeldust tags in Deranged and he nails Spade with a series of stiff kicks as he gets to his feet. Deranged goes to work on Spade’s neck working him over with some nice submissions. Deranged tags in Angeldust and the two isolate Spade and work him over in their corner as they make frequent tags. Spade tries to fight back with a kick to the midsection but Deranged catches it and holds the leg. Spade jumps up with the other leg and nails him with an enziguri. He starts crawling to his corner but Angeldust gets tagged in and grabs his ankle and pulls him away from Halo. Angeldust pulls Spade to his feet then hits a bridging belly to back suplex that gets a two count before Halo makes the save. The ref takes him back to his corner and Special K double teams Spade and Deranged stays in.

Deranged picks Spade up and hits him with a ki-krusher. Deranged holds him for the cover but Halo comes in and breaks the cover with a seated dropkick to Deranged then goes back to his corner. Deranged gets to his feet and tags in Angeldust. Angeldust starts pulling Spade up and Spade grabs him and hits a release northern lights suplex. Angeldust gets to his feet a little quicker than Spade and throws a clothesline but Spade rolls underneath it then dives as he gets up and tags in Halo. Halo comes in a house on fire. Angeldust gets back to his feet and Halo hits him with a three vertical suplexes in a row. Halo climbs up to the top rope and hits Angeldust with a missile dropkick for two before Deranged gets back in the ring to make the save. Halo argues with the ref and Angeldust tags in Deranged. Halo starts to work Deranged over and goes for a powerbomb but Deranged counters it with a hurrincanranna. Halo gets up to his feet and Deranged nails him in the midsection with a snap kick then grabs him. Deranged picks Halo up for a piledriver then drops to his knees with a modified tiger driver that gets a holy shit chant from the crowd. Deranged makes a cocky cover but Spade gets in and pulls Deranged off. Deranged gets to his feet and starts brawling with Spade. Deranged drops Spade to the mat with a big spin kick. Deranged goes back to Halo and grabs his legs then flips over and bridges the pinfall and Halo barely kicks out before the three.

Deranged pulls Halo to his feet and whips him into the corner then charges. Halo ducks out of the way and Deranged hits the turnbuckles leg first. Halo staggers to his corner and drops down as he tags Spade. Spade comes in and takes Deranged over with a dragon screw. Spade targets the leg of Deranged quickly with some hard strikes then locks in a figure four. Deranged gets near to tapping out before Angeldust comes in and breaks up the hold with a legdrop. Angeldust grabs Deranged and drags him to his corner and tags himself in. Spade slowly gets to his feet and Angeldust comes in with a springboard flipping ace crusher on Spade. Angeldust makes the cover and gets the three count.

Patterson: “That was a close one for Special K. Halo was dominating Deranged in that match and then Deranged dropped him on his head with a modified tiger driver and it was all over.”

Guppie: “That one move changed the match completely. Johnny Spade and Halo were getting the momentum going their way and Deranged stopped that dead in the tracks and allowed them to hold onto the titles once again.”

Patterson: “Angeldust and Deranged have a death grip on those titles and it’s going to be tough for anybody to free them.”

Guppie: “They are proving to be dominant first tag team champions. Much like N8 Mattson is proving to be a true fighting champion.”

Patterson: “N8 Mattson has started to resort to some dirty tactics to hold onto the belt as he’s made many of his matches go to the outside and become hardcore. Matt Sydal is going to have to keep the match in the ring. It’s where he’s the best and the only chance he has here tonight.”

Guppie: “What little chance he does have that is. Sydal is getting a shot because he’s gotten impressive skills. His win-loss record isn’t very good and he did lose to N8 Mattson in the first Midwest Invitational Tournament.”

Segment 8: Champion Forever

The lights dim and a spotlight goes to the entrance. Gothic Cathedral music plays through the speakers and N8 Mattson walks out of the entrance to the boos of the fan. N8 ignores them as he walks to the ring with the SMWA Championship belt around his waist. N8 slides into the ring then spins around showing the belt to the fans. N8 takes the mic from the ring announcer and tells Sydal to get in a corner.

Mattson: “Tonight my challenger is Matt Sydal. I don’t know how you earned this title shot but it sure wasn’t from winning a match. I’m going to treat you like the low level jobber you are tonight. Tonight however was something more important to me. It was the first round of the Midwest Invitational Tournament. It was winning that tournament that got me to being the champion in the first place. However it took me too long to actually get a shot at the title. So I will be defending this belt against the winner of the tournament at the first show after they win it. I don’t care if it’s Roderick Strong or B-Boy. I don’t care if I have to fight the former champion Jimmy Jacobs and I don’t care if it is the final coalition member Vito Thomaselli. I am strong in my beliefs and that strength is all that I need in order to succeed in my missions and goals. Whoever wins that tournament you will get a shot at the championship but you will not win it.”

OA: 51

Patterson: “N8 Mattson is really writing Matt Sydal off as a challenge and that overconfidence could cost him.”

Guppie: “He’s also overlooking his challenger next month M-Dogg 20. Mattson may be undefeated now but he won’t stay that way and he can lose at any time.”

Segment 9: N8 Mattson © vs. Matt Sydal (SMWA Championship)

The two men lockup in the middle of the ring and Mattson shoves Sydal onto his back. Sydal rolls to his feet and Mattson charges and takes him down with a lariat. Mattson treats Sydal with disdain as he keeps going for cocky covers as he takes Sydal down. Mattson sends Sydal to the mat with a powerslam then covers him with a foot on the chest. He gets a two count before Sydal grabs his leg and spins him down to the mat. Sydal holds onto the leg and drops a couple of elbows tot he knee then goes into a leg bar. Mattson drags himself backwards and grabs onto the bottom ropes to break the hold. Mattson gets to his feet and Sydal delivers a dropkick to the knees. Mattson hits the mat and rolls out of the ring. Mattson calls for a timeout but Sydal ignores him and hits him with a baseball slide that sends him back first into the guardrail. Sydal drops down to the floor and advances and Mattson grabs him by the front of the trunks and sends him face first into the guardrail. Mattson loudly yells for the fans to move then throws Sydal over the guardrail and into the chairs. Mattson steps over the rails and pounds away on Sydal in the crowd. The ref comes out of the ring and tells Mattson to take it back in the ring but Mattson ignores him. Mattson pulls Sydal to his feet and goes for a suplex but Sydal counters it and delivers his own suplex. Sydal pulls Mattson over to the guardrail then picks him up for a belly to back suplex and instead drops him knee first on the guardrail and Mattson falls into the ringside area grabbing his leg. Sydal slowly gets up on top of the guardrail then jumps onto Mattson with a senton then rolls him back into the ring. Sydal goes for the cover and only gets two.

Sydal pulls Mattson up and gets a low blow to the junk in return. Mattson grabs Sydal and drops him with a nice DDT which gets him a two count. Mattson takes control of the match and just viciously works Sydal over. Hitting him with big power moves and some painful submission holds but Sydal won’t stay down. Mattson whips Sydal into the ropes and goes for a spinebuster but Sydal counters it with a tornado DDT. Both men are down and the ref applies the ten count and both men struggle to their feet at the count of five. They start exchanging some chops and forearms. Sydal takes the advantage as he ducks a forearm from Mattson and drops him on his head with a release german suplex. Mattson climbs up to the top rope and signals for the shooting star press but Mattson gets to his feet and shakes the top rope racking Sydal up. Mattson grabs Sydal and takes him off the ropes with an iconoclasm. Mattson hooks the legs to fold Sydal up and gets the three count.

Winner: N8 Mattson (14:34)

OA: 66 CR: 45 MQ: 88

Patterson: “N8 Mattson has managed to once again retain the SMWA Championship over a tough match against Matt Sydal.”

Guppie: “Mattson underestimated Sydal early and it almost cost him the match.”

Patterson: “It almost cost him the match several times but he managed to pull out a big victory. Hopefully all you fans can make the next show on December third. We’ll see the finals of the tournament and both championships defended. For Brian Guppie, I’m Mike Patterson thank you for joining us!”

Don't worry this diary won't die for a long time. I really enjoy booking it.

The Beginning of the End

www.smwawrestling.com

December 1, 2005

We just finished the first round of the second annual Midwest Invitational Tournament on November 26th and we are set to finish what we started on December 3rd in Mount Pleasant.

N8 Mattson © vs. M-Dogg 20 (SMWA Championship, No Holds Barred)

M-Dogg 20 is making his second showing here in the SMWA and this is going to be his second shot at the Championship as well. N8 Mattson is already looking forward to defending the title against the winner of the Tournament finals next month and that lack of focus may prove to be his undoing. Plus his brutal match with Matt Sydal last week could have him weakened up. The match has been made No Holds Barred since Mattson has been pushing his matches to the edge lately. M-Dogg 20 has some experience and CZW and knows how to use weapons in the ring.

Special K © vs. Havana Pitbulls (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

Ricky Reyes and Rocky Romero make their first appearance here in the SMWA and due to their stellar tag team record across the independent scene they are getting a shot at the tag team champions. Their hard hitting style may be the one that can overcome the high flying skills of the Special K team and dethrone these dominant champs.

Bobby Quance vs. Petey Williams

These two men meet in what should be an excellent match and a blend of technical wrestling and high flying that will delight wrestling fans.

Vito Thomaselli vs. Jimmy Jacobs (Semi-Final)

Jacobs is a former champion in the SMWA and Vito Thomaselli has had several chances to get that belt as well. These two men will face off for the first time in singles action here and it should be an interesting encounter.

B-Boy vs. Roderick Strong (Semi-Final)

B-Boy is the stiffest striker in the SMWA and Strong has the toughest offense. These two men will face off in a battle of who can survive the most punishment as they deal it out.

Josh Prohbition vs. Hydro

Plus the finals of the Midwest Invitational Tournament!

I'm aiming for Saturday with the show but don't be too surprised if it is up later. I have to wake up early Saturday like 5 AM to take a test for College admissions. However I have the day off from work so I should have time that day to get it done.

Midwest Invitational II: Round Two (Mount Pleasant)

December 3, 2005

Announcer: Brian Guppie

Color Commentator: Mike Patterson

Patterson: “Welcome to the second night of action for the Midwest Invitational Tournament. We have a spectacular show tonight. In our main event N8 Mattson defends the SMWA Championship against M-Dogg 20.”

Guppie: “We have Angeldust and Deranged defending the SMWA Tag Team Championships against the Havana Pitbulls, Ricky Reyes and Rocky Romero. We also have Bobby Quance taking on the Canadian Sensation, Petey Williams.”

Patterson: “We of course have second round action in the tournament with Jimmy Jacobs taking on Vito Thomaselli and B-Boy battling Roderick Strong. The winners of those two matches will face later in the night. We start the show off tonight with M-Dogg 20's tag team partner Josh Prohibition taking on Special K member, Hydro.”

Guppie: “Prohibition is making his debut tonight and he faces a tough task in Hydro. Prohibition better be on his game tonight.”

Segment 1: Josh Prohibition vs. Hydro

The two men start off with a short chain wrestling sequence and Hydro takes the advantage as he drops Prohibition on his head with a belly to back suplex. The two men go back and forth through the match with both men bumping for high impact moves that wow the crowd. Hydro takes Prohibition over with a flipping neckbreaker then grabs him with a rear chinlock and jams his knee into the upperback of Prohibition. Prohibition fights out of it and slowly gets up and turns around and nails Hydro with a big back elbow to the midsection. Prohibition bounces off the ropes and spikes Hydro with a tornado DDT. Prohibition starts to take control of the match and gets the crowd rallying behind him. Prohibition backs Hydro into the corner and prepares to deliver some chops but Hydro cuts him short with a rake of the eyes. Hydro sets Prohibition up on the top rope. He delivers a couple of forearms as he climbs up. Hydro grabs Prohibition with a front facelock and takes him off with a superplex. Hydro slowly drags himself over to cover Prohibition and gets a two count. Prohibition fights to his feet and Hydro comes up from behind and butterflies his arms then delivers a tiger suplex. Hydro bridges and gets a three count.

Winner: Hydro (8:43)

OA: 58 CR: 41 MQ: 75

Patterson: “Those two men tried to kill each other. They just kept dropping each other on their heads until one of them couldn’t kick out.”

Guppie: “And it worked for Hydro as he knocked Prohibition out long enough to get a three count with a beautiful tiger suplex. I don’t like those Special K kids but they can really go in the ring.”

Patterson: “Indeed they can. It’s time for second round action of the Midwest Invitational Tournament. We have B-Boy taking on Roderick Strong.”

Guppie: “If you thought those last two guys were trying to kill each other you haven’t seen anything yet. These two men are some of the stiffest workers on the indy scene and they are going show it tonight.”

Segment 2: B-Boy vs. Roderick Strong (Tournament Semi-Final)

The two men start out with a couple of short chain wrestling sequences as they feel each other out. B-Boy raises his arm for a test of strength and Strong goes to meet him and B-Boy blasts him across the chest with a knife edge chop. Strong winces but lets fly with a chop of his own. The two men go back and forth with chops and elbows and Strong starts to gain the advantage with his bigger size so B-Boy kicks him in the junk to turn the momentum in his favor. B-Boy grabs Strong and takes him over with a high angle belly to back suplex. B-Boy continues to control Strong in the early going of the matches and gets a couple of near falls. B-Boy shoves Strong into the corner and delivers some chops but Strong shakes them off and spins B-Boy around into the corner and delivers some vicious chops of his own. Strong sets B-Boy up on the top rope but B-Boy nails him with a brutal forearm that staggers Strong. B-Boy grabs Strong and goes for a tornado DDT but Strong stays up and turns it into a release northern lights suplex that sends B-Boy into the corner and drops him on his head. The ref starts the ten count and both men get up at six and B-Boy uses the ropes to get up.

B-Boy comes off the ropes with a forearm that Strong blocks. Strong grabs the arm and takes it around B-Boy’s head and pulls him down and brings him back first across his knee. Strong takes control of the match at that point and he goes to work on B-Boy’s back. He mixes in some big impact moves and some nice submission moves but B-Boy refuses to give up and keeps breaking the holds by getting to the ropes. Strong whips B-Boy into the ropes and catches him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker that brings B-Boy down on his knee hard. Strong grabs checks his knee but ignores the pain and puts B-Boy into a bow and arrow. B-Boy is almost bent back far enough to touch the mat with his head and feet. B-Boy yells and appears ready to tap out but he stops himself then flips over and escapes the hold and into a cover that gets a two count. Strong gets to his feet visibly frustrated and he makes a mistake as B-Boy nails him in the back with a clothesline as he paces around the ring. Strong falls and drops into the corner. B-Boy charges and delivers a dropkick that almost sends Strong tumbling to the outside. B-Boy grabs his back and he waits as Strong pulls himself out of the corner and gets to a knee. B-Boy charges and nails a shining wizard. B-Boy grabs both legs as he makes the cover and gets the three count.

Winner: B-Boy (11:24)

Notes: *3/4

OA: 61 CR: 43 MQ: 79

Patterson: “B-Boy won the match and advances to the final but his back isn’t going to be ready for the next match.”

Guppie: “He does have some time to rest and get his back into shape but whoever wins the next match will have a big target to go after and B-Boy is going to have to be covering it up.”

Patterson: “We’re going to find out who he faces as Vito Thomaselli takes on Jimmy Jacobs.”

Guppie: “These two men have been in the SMWA since the beginning and this is going to be the first one on one confrontation for these two men and it’s going to be a close contest.”

Segment 3: Vito Thomaselli vs. Jimmy Jacobs (Tournament Semi-Final)

The two men lock up and Vito takes Jacobs over with a fireman’s carry. The two men go back and forth early in the match until Vito catches a kick from Jacobs and takes him down with a dragonscrew. Vito goes to work on the right leg of Jacobs. Jacobs is on the defensive but he keeps fighting back and manages to gain short bursts of offense before Vito manages to attack the leg and take him back down. Jacobs starts to rally though as Vito goes for a shin breaker but Jacobs flips over and lands behind him and nails a reverse DDT. Both men are down and Jacobs makes his way to his feet first stepping gingerly on his right leg. Despite his bad leg Jacobs starts to dominate Vito and keep him down with some fierce strikes. Jacobs nails Vito with a kick to the midsection then hits him with his modified pedigree. Jacobs makes the cover on Vito and only gets a two count. Jacobs pulls Vito to his feet by the hair then grabs him and goes for the contra code. Vito counters it though and leaves Jacobs hanging in a tree of woe. Vito delivers some forearms shots to the right leg. Vito backs up then delivers a nice dropkick to the leg and Jacobs falls out of the corner and clutches at his leg. Vito goes back to work on the leg of Jacobs throughout the match. Vito sends Jacobs to the mat with a shin breaker then grabs him with a figure four. Jacobs tries to crawl to the ropes but Vito just cranks down on the hold harder. Jacobs still fights the hold before giving in and tapping out.

Winner: Vito Thomaselli (9:52)

Notes: **1/2

OA: 67 CR: 51 MQ: 84

Patterson: “Jimmy Jacobs put in a burst of offense in the end but Vito was able to go right back to the leg and put Jacobs down and out.”

Guppie: “Wounded animals fight fiercely and when Jacobs knew he was in trouble he really started firing back but it wasn’t enough for him to come out on top.”

Patterson: “Later tonight we’ll see B-Boy face off against Vito Thomaselli to determine the winner of the second Midwest Invitational Tournament. Our next match is a non-tournament match and it pits the Canadian Sensation Petey Williams against the So-Cal Technician Bobby Quance.”

Guppie: “This match is going to be exciting. Both of these men can go on the mat and in the air and I we will see both men utilizing both aspects of their offense tonight.”

Segment 4: Bobby Quance vs. Petey Williams

Williams goes for a lockup to start the match but Quance cuts him off with a kick to the midsection then takes him over with a snapmare. Quance drills Williams with a snap kick to the small of the back then grabs him with a rear chinlock. Williams gets to his feet and spins around out of the hold and rocks Quance with a vicious forearm. The two men trade some fast paced maneuvers early as neither man can gain a definitive advantage. Quance looks to make the first big move as he grabs Williams with a rear waistlock and throws him over for a german suplex but Williams flips over and lands on his feet. Quance turns around and Williams nails him with an excellent dropkick. Quance gets to his feet and Williams goes for the flipping piledriver but Quance holds his ground and sends Williams over with a backbody drop. Williams gets up and Quance catches him with an overhead belly to belly suplex and allows him to take control of the match. Quance works Williams over using submissions and a variety of suplexes. Quance takes Williams over with a big german suplex and bridges it which gets him a two count. Quance pulls Williams to his feet and delivers a vertical suplex then climbs up to the top rope. Quance comes off with a shooting star press but Williams rolls out of the way. Quance sees that and spins enough to land on his feet but Williams clobbers him with a big clothesline to the back of the head as he lands.

Williams whips Quance into the ropes and catches him with a big back elbow as he comes off the ropes. Williams climbs up to the top rope and waits for Quance to get to his feet. Williams comes off with a missile dropkick that connects with Quance’s chest and sends him rolling out of the ring. Williams gets to his feet and walks to the ropes and sends himself to the outside with a crossbody block but Quance moves out of the way and Williams crash lands feet first. Quance pulls Williams to his feet and sends him face first into the ringpost. Quance picks Williams up again and this time sends him into the ring. Quance enters the ring and delivers a backdrop driver that folds Williams up on his head. Quance climbs up to the top and goes for the shooting star press again but Williams gets his knees up to counter the attack. Both men are slow to get to their feet but Williams nails Quance with a kick to the gut then grabs him and delivers the flipping piledriver dropping Quance right on his head to a huge pop from the crowd. Williams drags himself over to make the cover and gets the three count.

Winner: Petey Williams (16:38)

Notes: ***1/4

OA: 67 CR: 41 MQ: 93

Patterson: “What a contest between those two men. Quance looked strong throughout the match but Williams hit some big moves at the right time and that flipping piledriver puts anybody out.”

Guppie: “It’s a hard move to execute but Williams knows how to do it and once you get spiked on your head like that it’s all over for you.”

Patterson: “Without a doubt. Angeldust and Deranged defend their tag team titles in our next match as they take on the Havana Pitbulls.”

Guppie: “The pitbulls are vicious Mike and they could be the ones to tame the wild offense of the Special K team and become the new tag team champions.”

Patterson: “We’ve said that about quite a few teams that have challenged Angeldust and Deranged and so far nobody has done it. It’s going to take a lot of work to win those tag team titles.”

Segment 5: Angeldust & Deranged © vs. Havana Pitbulls (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

Reyes and Angeldust start the match and Reyes throws a couple of tentative kicks that keep Angeldust back. Reyes then steps forward and delivers a snap kick right to the knee of Angeldust that takes him down. Reyes follows with a big kick to the side of the head and Angeldust drops to the mat. Reyes goes for the cover and gets a long one count. Reyes whips Angeldust into the ropes and creams him with a big forearm as he bounces off. Reyes grabs the right leg of Angeldust and drops a couple of elbows to the knee then locks in an legbar. Deranged comes in quickly and breaks up the hold with a legdrop. Romero comes in and chops Deranged and sends him back to his corner clutching his chest. The Pitbulls keep Angeldust in their corner as they work on his leg. Angeldust is treated roughly as they pummel away at him in the corner and torque his leg with submissions. Angeldust’s attempts to fight back are pretty much ignored by the Pitbulls as they shake off the few strikes Angeldust manages to throw. Romero picks Angeldust up and goes for a running powerslam but Angeldust slides down behind his back and sends him into the corner then crawls over and tags in Deranged. Deranged jumps onto the top rope and springboards in with a dropkick on Romero.

Deranged gets an offensive run going and takes down both members of the Pitbulls. He picks Reyes up for a belly to back suplex but Romero tackles him down from behind. Reyes climbs up to the top rope as Romero picks Deranged up for a belly to back suplex. Reyes comes off the ropes and catches Deranged with a reverse DDT as Romero drops him. Romero makes the cover and gets a long two count before Deranged kicks out. Deranged is quick on the comeback as he hits an uppercut to the junk of Romero then spikes him with a big DDT. Deranged goes to work on Romero and just wears him down. Romero fights back though and starts nailing Deranged with chops and forearms and manages to tag in a fresh Reyes. Reyes comes in and walks right into a big spinning front kick from Deranged. Deranged goes up to the top rope and comes off with a flying crossbody block that gets him a two count. Deranged gets up and tags in Angeldust. Deranged hits Reyes with a backbreaker and Angeldust comes off the top with a legdrop that slams Reyes against the knee of Deranged again. Angeldust controls Reyes for a short time but Reyes goes back to the knee of Angeldust and he quickly tags Deranged in. Deranged comes in and hits Reyes with a quick release german suplex. Deranged quickly climbs up to the top rope and hits Reyes with a phoenix splash. Deranged puts his feet on the ropes as he makes the cover. Romero starts to come in but Angeldust quickly gets in his way and stops him from breaking up the three count.

Winner: Special K (15:34)

Notes: **1/4

OA: 65 CR: 48 MQ: 82

Patterson: “The Havana Pitbulls dominated the match early as they really worked on the knee of Angeldust but once Deranged got in the ring the match really turned around.”

Guppie: “Let’s not forget that while Deranged got the three count he also had his feet on the ropes. Special K may have retained the titles tonight but they didn’t do it fairly at all.”

Patterson: “They aren’t afraid to take shortcuts in order to win matches Brian. Our next match is the finals of the Midwest Invitational Tournament and B-Boy takes on Vito Thomaselli.”

Guppie: “We’ll see how much time B-Boy has had to rest his back. These two men have met once before and B-Boy won that match with the assistance of Chance Beckett who Vito Thomaselli had been feuding with. This time it should be a clean match and we’ll see which man is the better man.”

Segment 6: B-Boy vs. Vito Thomaselli (Tournament Finals)

Vito and B-Boy face off and Vito offers his hand but B-Boy ignores it. The bell rings and B-Boy descends on Vito with chops but Vito manages to deflect some of the shots to lessen the damage. Vito fires back with a chop of his own then sends some stiff forearms in to the side of B-Boy’s head rattling him. Vito takes B-Boy over with a snapmare then delivers a stiff kick to the small of B-Boy’s already weakened back. Vito drives a couple of knees into the back as well then shoves B-Boy face first into the mat and grabs him with a camel clutch. B-Boy is close to the ropes though and manages to reach out and grab them to break the hold. Vito backs away and plays to the crowd getting some cheers as B-Boy drags himself to his feet. Vito comes back in but B-Boy drop toe holds him sending him face first across the bottom rope. B-Boy bounces off the far ropes then comes down with a kick to the back of Vito’s head that sends him tumbling to the floor. B-Boy slides out after him and B-Boy dominates him on the outside with some stiff shots. B-Boy goes for an irish whip but Vito counters it and B-Boy slams into the guardrail back first.

Vito takes B-Boy back into the ring and makes a cover but B-Boy kicks out at two. Vito whips B-Boy into the ropes and catches him to go for a backbreaker but B-Boy counters it with a spinning headscissors. Vito gets to his feet in time to eat a mafia kick from B-Boy. Both men fall to the mat as the ref applies the ten count. B-Boy gets up first at the five count and Vito is right behind him. B-Boy grabs Vito and drops him on his head with a backdrop driver. B-Boy holds onto Vito as he gets to his feet and drops him with another backdrop driver. B-Boy still clings to Vito and drops him on his head with a third backdrop driver. B-Boy rolls Vito over and hooks the leg for a long two count. B-Boy gets to his feet holding his back and he lets Vito get up to a knee. B-Boy charges for a shining wizard but Vito grabs his leg as he steps off his knee and tackles B-Boy to the ground. Vito gets the mount position and lays into B-Boy with some hard punches before the ref pulls him off. B-Boy gets to his feet and he staggers around the ring as some blood is starting to trickle from his forehead. Vito moves in on B-Boy but B-Boy throws punches that keep Vito away. Vito decides to just shoot in and he gets caught with a big knee right to the face. B-Boy wipes away the blood from his eyes then backs off. Vito gets up to one knee and B-Boy charges and nails Vito with a shining wizard. B-Boy makes the cover and gets a two count before Vito drapes a foot over the ropes.

B-Boy pulls Vito up to his feet then goes for a brainbuster but Vito drops down behind B-Boy and hits him with a backbreaker. Vito drops down over B-Boy and gets a short two count. Both men struggle to their feet. Blood has started to really flow on the forehead of B-Boy. Vito sees then and sends a couple of punches home to the forehead of B-Boy to keep the blood flowing. Vito whips B-Boy into the ropes and takes him down with a hard spinebuster. Vito grabs the legs then turns B-Boy over into a boston crab. B-Boy struggles against the hold as blood pours down his face. He slowly drags himself forward and grabs the ropes but Vito walks forward dragging B-Boy back to the middle of the ring. Vito sits down on B-Boy really wrenching on the back. B-Boy refuses to tap but the ref checks his arm and it drops three times and the ref calls for the bell.

Vito gets to his feet and leans wearily against the ring ropes as the crowd applauds and cheers for him as the ref hands him the small trophy. Vito holds it high though and the crowd stands up to applaud him as he makes his way to the back. The ref helps B-Boy get up to his feet and to the back and the crowd remains standing as he gets helped to the back.

Winner: Vito Thomaselli (17:22)

Notes: **

OA: 66 CR: 52 MQ: 80

Patterson: “What a hell of a contest there folks! Those two men put on a hard fought match. B-Boy amazingly lasted almost twenty minutes despite all the damage that Roderick Strong did to his back in his first match this night.”

Guppie: “He did nice work but it was that damage to his back that cost him the match and I’d love to see these guys go at it when they are both fresh. The crowd really showed both men a lot of respect with that standing ovation and they really deserved it.”

Patterson: “Now it’s time for our main event as N8 Mattson faces M-Dogg 20 in a no holds barred match.”

Guppie: “This is going to go all around the building. M-Dogg knows how to use weapons from his time in CZW and that could give him the advantage here tonight. However Mattson has a lot of confidence and momentum going into this match and he hopes to steam roll right over M-Dogg.”

Segment 7: The Mouth of the Lord

The lights dim and a spotlight goes to the entrance. Gothic Cathedral music plays through the speakers and a slightly overweight man in a suit walks out from the back and is followed by N8 Mattson. Mattson walks with his head bowed and the Title belt around his waist. The two men enter the ring and the man in the suit takes the mic.

Fannin: “In case you people don’t know my name is Jim Fannin but that’s not important. What’s important is what I’m doing out here and what I’m doing is relating the word of the Lord to you. N8 Mattson is the weapon of the lord and he can’t be doing all the talking to. That’s where I come in and you fans will get to see and hear a lot from me in the future. Tonight N8 Mattson takes on M-Dogg 20 in a no holds barred match. The management here in the SMWA are trying to punish N8 Mattson for his successful run with the Championship belt. The longest in the history of the SMWA I might add. They have put him in a hardcore match with a man who knows how to fight in the hardcore environment. But don’t take that as a complaint from the champion because he is not worried. He has the power of the Lord on his side and he will come out on top. I am merely pointing out the facts to you fans here. The SMWA is trying to cripple the reign of our Lord but he will overcome and N8 Mattson will overcome these jealous attacks on his person. Tonight you will witness N8 Mattson destroy M-Dogg 20 and he will show all you fans, and you boys in the back, that he is a champion and he has an undeniable force behind him.”

OA: 47

Segment 8: N8 Mattson © vs. M-Dogg 20 (SMWA Championship, No Holds Barred))

Fannin drops the mic and Mattson charges and catches M-Dogg off guard with a big forearm. Mattson traps him in the corner and delivers a series of hard chops and strikes to M-Dogg. M-Dogg throws a few punches of his own to escape the corner but Mattson shakes them off and takes M-Dogg out of the corner with a fireman’s carry. M-Dogg gets up to his feet and Mattson delivers a dropkick that sends M-Dogg through the middle ropes and to the outside. Mattson charges for a dive but M-Dogg sees it coming and nails him with a european uppercut as he comes through the ropes. M-Dogg pulls him to the outside and gains the upperhand on the outside. M-Dogg takes a chair from a fan and waffles Mattson over the head with it. M-Dogg climbs onto the apron and plays to the crowd. Mattson gets to his feet and M-Dogg jumps off and hits a hurrincanranna that sends Mattson tumbling into the guardrail. M-Dogg reaches under the ring and pulls out a table. He starts to set it up but Mattson recover and nails him with a clothesline and the table drops down to the floor. Mattson takes M-Dogg over the guardrail and the two men start brawling through the crowd. The two trade punches as they fight up the bleachers. Mattson catches M-Dogg with a big forearm then throws him back down the bleachers and M-Dogg rolls down the stairs and hits the floor with a thud. Mattson walks down the steps slowly and confidently to the boos of the crowd. Mattson pulls M-Dogg up and drags him back to the ring. Mattson makes the cover and M-Dogg manages to kick out at two.

Mattson argues with the ref then slides out of the ring and grabs the table and takes it back in with him. Mattson sets the table up in the corner then picks M-Dogg up and irish whips him towards the table. M-Dogg manages to put the brakes on and stop himself. Mattson charges and M-Dogg catches him with an overhead belly to belly suplex that sends him through the table and both men are down. The ref reaches a six count before M-Dogg drapes an arm over Mattson for a short two count. M-Dogg rolls out of the ring and pulls a trash can out from under the ring and throws it in. M-Dogg goes over to the crowd and gets four chairs and slides them inside as well. M-Dogg finally gets back into the ring and Mattson brings the trash can down over his head as he stands up. Mattson whips M-Dogg into the ropes and takes him over with a spinebuster that flattens the trash can. Mattson makes the cover and gets another two count. Mattson wears M-Dogg down and keeps going for the pinfalls but he can’t get the three count. Mattson remembers the chairs and picks one up. He gets ready to hit M-Dogg but M-Dogg springs up with a dropkick that sends the chair into the face of Mattson. M-Dogg grabs the other three chairs and sets them up near the corner facing each other. He then grabs the chair Mattson had and sets that one up as well. M-Dogg pulls Mattson to his feet and hits him with a couple of forearms then sets him up on the top rope. M-Dogg climbs up and goes for a hurrincanranna but Mattson catches him then jumps off with a powerbomb that slams M-Dogg down across the four chairs and breaks one of them. Mattson pulls M-Dogg off the chairs and makes the cover for the three count.

Winner: N8 Mattson (16:35)

Notes: *1/4

OA: 58 CR: 45 MQ: 72

Patterson: “That was one of the most brutal things I’ve ever seen! Mattson jumped off the ropes and brought M-Dogg 20 down across four chairs with a powerbomb.”

Guppie: “That was definitely a brutal move and M-Dogg 20 is in a world of hurt now. I don’t care how tough he is.”

Patterson: “N8 Mattson is dominant champion here in the SMWA. This is his six month with the championship two months longer than the next closest.”

Guppie: “That’s all for tonight folks. I’m Brian Guppie and for Mike Patterson thank you for watching.”

The next card update will also have a roster with it.

Congratulations Vito Thomaselli

www.smwawrestling.com

December 6, 2005

Vito Thomaselli won the second annual Midwest Invitational Tournament last month and not only did he win the trophy he also earned a shot at SMWA Champion, N8 Mattson. The two have met twice before and N8 Mattson won both of those matches. Vito Thomaselli has found a new spark though and looks to make things different this time.

Despite the brutal beating both N8 Mattson and M-Dogg 20 took in their matches they are both in good shape and will be able to compete in the next show.

In unfortunate news Alex Shelley and Slim J have both signed exclusive contracts with Ring of Honor and NWA:TNA respectively. With both men good luck in their future and are proud of the work both men did while here.

The January show is going to be our debut in Grand Rapids and will be on January 14. We are bringing them a special show as Excalibur has issued a challenge to Special K. Special K have accepted and we do know that it will involve a six man match of some sort. We’ll have more information on that later. Fittingly the show is being called So-Cal Special K Challenge.

The SMWA Roster

www.smwawrestling.com

December 16, 2004

A lot of new fans keep asking for a definitive roster for the SMWA. While that is hard to provide since many people come and go through here we will give the core wrestlers in the federation with a small bio and some matches of theirs to check out and a list of the other wrestlers involved with the SMWA.

“The Real” N8 Mattson

N8 Mattson has become the top man in the promotion with a massive winning streak that is unprecedented. He has gone over 14 months without losing a singles match and his record stands at 14 wins and 2 losses. However being the top man puts a bullseye on his chest and many people are aiming to take him down and take his spot at the top. Mattson is however powered by his faith in the Lord and his position as his representative on Earth. Not only is he the current champion but he is the first winner of the Midwest Invitation Tournament, an accomplishment that he is very proud of.

Matches

N8 Mattson vs. Halo (No Limits)

N8 Mattson vs. Alex Shelley (Tag Team Challenge)

N8 Mattson vs. Vito Thomaselli (The Anniversary Show)

Jimmy Jacobs

After losing the SMWA Championship to Alex Shelley, Jacobs has come and gone in the SMWA and hasn’t been too consistent in his appearances. However he was strong in the beginning of the promotion and he can always make a big showing.

Matches

Jimmy Jacobs vs. Chris Sabin (The Beginning)

Jimmy Jacobs vs. Chris Sabin vs. Jimmy Yang (Motorcity Madness)

Jimmy Jacobs vs. Johnny Storm (Midwest Invitational Night Two)

Alex Shelley

Alex Shelley made a big return to the SMWA this year and managed to capture the SMWA Championship from Jimmy Jacobs before losing it to N8 Mattson. Shelley has been going back and forth on his wins and loses but he always manages to come out on top and look good in the end. No matter what happens he will always be one of the top men in the company.

Matches

Alex Shelley vs. Chance Beckett (The Anniversary Show)

Alex Shelley vs. Jimmy Jacobs (The Hussman Cometh)

Alex Shelley vs. Danny Daniels (Birthday Bash II)

Vito Thomaselli

Vito is coming off a big win to become the Midwest Invitational Tournament champion. He faces N8 Mattson next month for the SMWA Championship. Vito has had some ups and downs in the SMWA. His record against N8 Mattson is poor but he is the man who sent Chance Beckett packing, eliminating him from the SMWA in a big ladder match.

Matches

Vito Thomaselli vs. Chance Beckett (Tag Team Challenge)

Vito Thomaselli vs. Slim J (Midwest Invitational II Night 1)

Vito Thomaselli & Alex Shelley vs. Slim J & Hydro (Double Dragon)

B-Boy

Called the New Age Punisher and the So-Cal Thug, B-Boy is living up to his names as he has started to carve a path through all-comers here in the SMWA. He’s beaten some of the best we have and his matches continue to become more high profile. His mix of stiff brawling, high-flying and technical precision make him the all-around package and have allowed him to go toe to toe with anybody in the SMWA. His star is on the rise and it’s sure to reach the top soon.

Matches

B-Boy vs. Alex Shelley (Midwest Invitational II Night 1)

B-Boy vs. Vito Thomaselli (Midwest Invitational II Night 2)

B-Boy vs. Quiet Storm (Birthday Bash II)

Special K

The group of the rich kid ravers moved from the East Coast and invaded the SMWA. Lead by Slim J the group of Deranged, Angeldust and Hydro have proven they have what it takes to compete in the ring. Always disliked by the fans and usually picked as the underdogs the Special K team has been able to compete against some of the best wrestlers in the SMWA and have quite often managed to come out on top. Angeldust and Deranged became the first ever SMWA Tag Team Champions and they have gone through some of the best tag teams in the SMWA to retain those titles.

Matches

Deranged & Angeldust vs. Johnny Spade & Halo (Tag Team Challenge)

Slim J vs. Halo (Motorcity Madness)

Deranged & Angeldust vs. Excalibur & Disco Machine (Birthday Bash II)

The Strong Brothers

Roderick and Sedrick Strong are proving themselves to be a great young team and great singles competitors as well. Sedrick has lots of experience as a singles wrestler with strong showings in the 2003 ECWA Super 8 and the IPW Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup also in 2003. Roderick Strong has been a strong competitor in RoH and elsewhere by himself but in the SMWA they are a brutal, devastating and they are becoming more dangerous with Jamie Koeppe leading them. Their high impact offense is always popular with the fans.

Matches

Roderick Strong vs. Delirious (The Hussman Cometh)

Strong Brothers vs. Deranged & Angeldust (Sanitarium)

Sedrick Strong vs. Bobby Bambino (No Limits)

Here & Gone

Danny Dominion - Left for personal reasons (Former Champion)

Hopefully this has helped our new fans and our old fans alike in getting to know our roster a little better. However as we are an independent federation new people come in and old people leave all the time. We are always looking for more talent to bring in so stay tuned for any new wrestlers we bring in and any information we may have on them.

So-Cal Special K Challenge Card

www.smwawrestling.com

December 31, 2005

It is New Year’s Eve and we are set to unveil the card for So-Cal Special K Challenge to ring in the new year.

N8 Mattson vs. Vito Thomaselli (SMWA Championship) (60 minute time limit)

Vito Thomaselli earned the shot at the Championship by winning the Midwest Invitational Tournament. N8 Mattson is on a roll as he hasn’t lost a match in over a year. The two men have faced off twice before with N8 Mattson coming out on top both times.

So-Cal - Special K Challenge

The challenge will consist of three matches. The first a singles match worth one point. The second is a tag team match worth two points and the final match is a 2/3 falls lucha rules match which means the team captain must be pinned for the fall to count. A fall on a non-captain eliminates the wrestler for the rest of that fall. It also means that you don’t need to tag in your partner you only have to exit the ring. The first two falls are worth one point the third pin (if applicable) is worth two points.

Hydro vs. Scorpio Sky (15 minute time limit)

The singles match of the challenge. Scorpio Sky makes his debut here against Hydro. Hydro has shown quite a bit of technical skill. Scorpio is fairly new to the business but he has great skill when he flies in the air.

Angeldust & Deranged vs. Excalibur & Disco Machine (SMWA Tag Team Championship) (45 minute time limit)

Excalibur and Disco Machine get another shot at tag team gold. This is also the tag team match in the challenge.

Special K vs. Excalibur, Disco Machine & Scorpio Sky (Lucha Rules 2/3 Falls) (60 minute time limit)

Jimmy Rave vs. Bobby Quance (30 minute time limit)

Jimmy Rave makes his SMWA debut as he takes on Bobby Quance. Both of these men have big reputations and can really make an impact here in the SMWA. Quance has had a few matches but this will be his biggest chance so far.

Petey Williams vs. Austin Aries (15 minute time limit)

Austin Aries makes his SMWA debut against the Canadian Sensation. This should be an exciting match as both of these men can wrestle all out and they don’t know the meaning of the word quit.

Danny Daniels is also booked to be on the show in some capacity.

The show should be up Thursday.

So-Cal Versus Special K Challenge (Grand Rapids)

January 14, 2006

Announcer: Mike Patterson

Color Commentator: Danny Daniels

Patterson: “Welcome to the So-Cal Special K challenge! I’m Mike Patterson and filling in for Brian Guppie tonight is Danny Daniels.”

Daniels: “I don’t know if you noticed but somebody forgot to book me on this show so I came here anyways and I’ll put myself on this show somehow.”

Patterson: “I’m sure you will. In our main event N8 Mattson defends the SMWA Championship against Vito Thomaselli, Our co-main event has Angeldust, Deranged and Hydro taking on Excalibur, Disco Machine and Scorpio Sky in a 2/3 falls lucha rules match and I’ll explain those rules more before the match.”

Daniels: “We also have Jimmy Rave taking on Bobby Quance, Petey Williams facing Austin Aries, Angeldust and Deranged defend the Tag Team championships against Excalibur and Disco Machine and out opening match pits Hydro against Scorpio Sky.”

Patterson: “This is Scorpio Sky’s debut here in the SMWA and he has to make a strong showing for his team here tonight. This match and the tag team title match are part of a series of matches that ends with the six man tonight. The teams score points with victories and whichever team gets more points is declared the winner.”

Daniels: “We’ll see if he folds up under the pressure or if he can come out big, baby. Hydro’s not bad in the ring either though. He has a nice mix of impact moves and technical moves on the mat.”

Segment 1: Hydro vs. Scorpio Sky

Hydro charges and he takes an armdrag from Sky. Sky keeps the advantage as he keeps tossing Hydro around. Sky hits another armdrag but holds the arm and goes right into an armbar. Hydro managest o get a foot on the bottom rope and break up the hold. He shakes his arm out as he gets to his feet. Sky charges and Hydro sends him over with a backbody drop but Sky grabs the ropes and lands on the apron. Hydro walks forward then turns around as Sky springboards in with a dropkick. Sky keeps the advantage going his way in the match as he works Hydro over just trying to wear him down. Sky goes for a suplex but Hydro blocks it then drops Sky on his head with a brainbuster and both men are down. Sky gets to his feet first but he is still staggered from the vicious brainbuster and Hydro manages to keep control as he gets to his feet and takes Sky down with a big powerslam. Hydro bounces off the ropes and comes down with an elbow drop on Sky that gets him a two count. Hydro just starts treating Sky like a jobber hitting him with a ton of moves. Hydro then butterflies Sky’s arms behind him and drops him on his head with the tiger suplex. Hydro bridges and gets a two count before the ref notices that Sky’s feet are in the ropes. Hydro breaks the bridge and gets in the ref’s face arguing with him. Hydro turns around and Sky rolls him up for the three count.

Winner: Scorpio Sky (9:30)

Notes: *1/2

OA: 56 CR: 36 MQ: 77

Patterson: “Hydro got too cocky in that match and it cost him. Sky was taking a beating but he saw the right opportunity and he took it.”

Daniels: “I know how Hydro feels. These refs are always trying to hold me down to. He’s got to learn that he has to be perfect in order to keep them off his back.”

Patterson: “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Scorpio Sky’s victory gives the So-Cal team a 1-0 lead in the points contest against Special K.”

Daniels: “I know you don’t understand. Where’s that Brian Guppie cat? He knows what Danny Daniels is all about and he would understand.”

Patterson: “He took the day off or something I don’t know. Our next match is the second match in the Special K, So-Cal Challenge and it is also for the tag team titles as Angeldust and Deranged take on Excalibur and Disco Machine.”

Daniels: “Angeldust and Deranged are the first tag team champions and are already proving to be the most dominant. They’ve beaten these two men before and they’ll do it again.”

Segment 2: Angeldust & Deranged © vs. Excalibur & Disco Machine (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

Angeldust and Disco Machine start the match off and Disco starts off in control as he works the arm of Angeldust in a chain wrestling sequence that finishes with him holding Angeldust in a keylock on the mat. Angeldust scoots to the side and drapes a foot over the ropes to break the hold. Angeldust gets to his feet holding on to the ropes and takes in Deranged. Disco backs up to his corner and Excalibur tags in. Deranged charges and Excalibur catches him with a big lariat that flips Deranged over. Excalibur pulls Deranged to his feet and goes for a suplex but Deranged lands behind him and takes him over with a belly to back suplex. Deranged follows up with an elbow drop then goes for a cover that gets a short two count. Excalibur gets to his feet and Deranged takes him over with a monkey flip. Angeldust and Deranged start to isolate Excalibur and keep him in their corner as they work him over. Deranged throws Excalibur into the corner and Angeldust holds him there as Deranged pelts him with a series of kicks to the midsection. Deranged tags in Angeldust who comes in with a flipping ace crusher. He makes the cover but Disco Machine breaks it up at two. Angeldust swings at Disco but misses. Disco retreats to his corner and Angeldust picks Excalibur up and goes for a german suplex but Excalibur flips over and lands on his feet. He staggers backwards into his corner and Disco tags himself in.

Angeldust charges and Disco nails him with a leg lariat. Deranged comes in and he gets a leg lariat as well. Disco is on fire and he just cleans house. Deranged gets sent over the top rope and to the outside and Angeldust gets dropped on his head with a belly to back suplex. Disco goes for the cover and gets a two count. Disco controls Angeldust in the ring and Excalibur slowly recovers on the outside and calls for the tag. Disco obliges him and Excalibur comes in and levels Angeldust with a big forearm. Excalibur grabs Angeldust and hooks both arms but Deranged comes in and hits a spinning front kick and Excalibur falls back and Disco tags himself in again. Disco climbs up to the top rope and jumps off and Angeldust catches him with a superkick that lays Disco out. Angeldust gets up and tags in Deranged. Deranged whips Disco into the ropes and takes him over with a hurrincanranna and gets a two count. Disco gets to his feet and Angeldust catches him in the back of the head with a kick as he ventures to far back near the ropes. He staggers forward into a small package by Deranged for the three count.

Winner: Angeldust & Deranged (10:55)

Notes: **1/4

OA: 64 CR: 47 MQ: 82

Daniels: “That’s why those two guys are the champs, baby! They work together and they take every opportunity that comes there way.”

Patterson: “Whether it’s legal or not that is. They took Excalibur out of the match early and were able to take Disco Machine out at the end too and that’s what matters.”

Daniels: “They are true champs.”

Patterson: “And dominant ones. Petey Williams takes on Austin Aries in our next match. These two men are good flyers but they can both go on the mat too so we’ll see where they go with this match.”

Daniels: “I’ve seen a lot of work from both of these men and I know they’ll put on a show here tonight.”

Segment 3: Petey Williams vs. Austin Aries

Williams and Aries lockup and Williams takes Aries over with a headlock and holds onto the move on the mat. Aries quickly gets to his feet and goes for a belly to back suplex but Williams flips over and lands on his feet. Williams grabs Aries in a rear waistlock then runs him into the ropes and rolls him over backwards and gets the cover for a two count. The two men continue to go back and forth with the mat wrestling as they try and feel each other out. Aries goes for the first big move as he goes for a german suplex but Jacobs flips over and lands on his feet. Aries stands up and Williams grabs him and hits a side russian leg sweep. Williams grabs the legs of Aries and goes for the sharpshooter but Aries stops from being flipped over and instead grabs Williams and rolls him up for a two count. Both men are quick to their feet and Aries catches Williams with a dropkick. Williams gets to his feet and Aries drops him on his head with a vicious brainbuster. Aries goes for the cover and gets a long two count. Aries takes control of the match at this point but it doesn’t last long. Aries goes for another german suplex but Williams blocks it this time then goes behind and hits his own german suplex. Aries gets to his feet and Williams grabs him and hits the flipping piledriver. Williams makes the cover and gets a two count before Danny Daniels gets up from the announcers table and pulls him out of the ring. Williams nails Daniels with a forearm then slides back into the ring. He makes the cover on Aries again and gets a two count. Daniels gets on the apron but Jimmy Jacobs runs down from backstage and pulls him off the apron and Daniels slams face first onto the apron. In the ring Aries hits Williams with a low blow as he gets pulled to his feet. Aries hits a hurrincanranna and holds the legs for the three count.

Winner: Austin Aries (8:44)

Notes: **

OA: 65 CR: 53 MQ: 78

Patterson: “I guess I’m all alone on commentary for now. Danny Daniels just got himself involved in the last match and allowed Austin Aries to take the win over Petey Williams. And here comes Brian Guppy from backstage. Where have you been?”

Guppie: “I was stuck in traffic. While I was backstage the SMWA commissioner told me that we are going to have Jimmy Jacobs taking on the one and only Danny Daniels because of what just happened.”

Patterson: “They aren’t wasting anytime in making this match and it’s a good thing because the two men are still brawling ringside.”

Guppie: “I heard Danny was down here doing commentary earlier. I’m sorry I missed that. A match between these two would be good normally but with this fire lit under both men already it should be even better.”

Segment 4: Jimmy Jacobs vs. Danny Daniels

Two of the refs escort Williams and Aries to the back while the remaining ref tells Jacobs and Daniels that they have an actual match and tries to get them into the ring unsuccessfully. Jacobs and Daniels continue to brawl on the outside and Jacobs sends Daniels into the guardrails with an irish whip. Jacobs charges with a big knee but Daniels moves out of the way and Jacobs slams hard into the guardrail himself. Daniels delivers a couple of stomps to the injured knee of Jacobs then picks him up for a shinbreaker and slams his knee into the ringpost. Daniels holds him up and then drops his knee across the guardrail and Jacobs drops to the outside clutching his right knee. Daniels pulls Jacobs to his feet and rolls him into the ring. Daniels grabs the right leg of Jacobs and goes for a figure four but Jacobs uses his left leg to push Daniels off into the ropes. Daniels comes off the ropes and Jacobs grabs him with a small package for a two count. Daniels is quick to his feet and Jacobs gets up on his right leg and Daniels takes the leg out with a dropkick. Daniels grabs the right leg and grabs it and DDT’s it into the mat jarring the knee. Daniels holds onto the leg and goes into a figure four. Jacobs is in pain but the crowd starts hussing and Jacobs starts inching backwards until he manages to grab the bottom rope and break the hold.

Daniels still controls the match and he continues to work on the leg of Jacobs. Daniels kicks Jacobs in the midsection and goes for a piledriver but Jacobs reverses it with a backbody drop as the crowd starts another huss chant. Jacobs works out his leg then charges as Daniels gets to his feet and hits a big furry boot to the face of Daniels. Daniels goes down hard but Jacobs falls to the mat grabbing at his knee. Jacobs gets some offense going then goes for the contra code but Daniels just kicks him in the back of his right leg and Jacobs falls forward and hits the turnbuckles face first. Daniels pulls Jacobs to his feet then sets him up on the top rope. Daniels climbs up and goes for a big belly to back suplex but Jacobs fights him off with a mix of back elbows and headbutts that send Daniels down to the mat. Jacobs tries to stand up on the ropes but Daniels gets up again and hits him with a forearm to the back of the head. Daniels goes for the belly to back suplex but Jacobs nails a headbutt that breaks that up. Jacobs grabs Daniels with a cravate then stands up on the top rope and flips over and takes Daniels off the ropes with a variation of the contra code. Jacobs crawls forward and drapes an arm over Daniels to get the three count and both men are down.

Winner: Jimmy Jacobs (11:16)

Notes: **1/4

OA: 66 CR: 50 MQ: 83

Patterson: “Unbelievable! Daniels destroyed the leg of Jacobs the entire match but Jacobs channeled the berserker spirit and fought back to win the match.”

Guppie: “That definitely was an impressive showing by Jacobs. Beating Danny Daniels is no easy task. Daniels did a great job of working the leg the entire match and Jacobs just kept fighting back.”

Patterson: “Both of those men are top draw athletes. Up next we have two men who have made quite the names for themselves. Bobby Quance who has had a few matches here is known in the West as one of the best technical wrestlers and Jimmy Rave from the South who is known for having a great combination of technical abilities and high flying.”

Guppie: “You will hear a lot of people described that way but these two aren’t just good in both categories they are great.”

Segment 5: Jimmy Rave vs. Bobby Quance

The two men go for a lockup and Quance hits Rave in the leg with a snap kick then takes him over with an armdrag. Rave rolls as he hits the mat and gets back up to his feet. Quance goes towards him and Rave takes him over with an armdrag and goes right into an armbar. Quance goes for the ropes but Rave pulls him away then locks the hold in again. Quance hits Rave with his free hand then slowly gets up and then takes Rave over with an armdrag of his own and goes into his own armbar. Rave is quick to get to his feet and Quance turns the hold into a hammerlock. Rave reaches back and grabs Quance then jumps up and comes down flipping Quance with a snapmare. Quance gets up to his feet and Rave catches him with a step up enziguri. Rave follows up and goes for a cross armbreaker but Quance hooks his hands and rolls Rave up and Rave breaks up the hold and the pin at two. Rave goes after the arm but Quance spins his arm free and catches Rave in the back of the head with a discus clothesline. Quance picks Rave up and drops him on his head with a saido suplex. Quance grabs Rave with a front facelock then drops down with a DDT and wraps his legs around Rave cinching in a front chancery. Rave manages to pick Quance up and push him back nearer to the ropes. Rave picks Quance up again and this time manages to grab onto the ropes and break the hold. Quance gets to his feet and Rave jumps up and takes him over with a hurrincanranna with the right arm and goes over into a cross armbreaker. Quance panics for a short time then manages to turn himself around and grab the ropes with his free hand to break the hold.

Rave takes control of the match and goes to work on the right arm of Quance looking to weaken him up for another cross armbreaker. Rave traps the arm of Quance behind his back and delivers a northern lights suplex. Rave bridges it and gets a two count. Quance sits up and Rave runs and nails him with a big knee right to the face. Rave makes the cover again and gets a long two count. Rave pulls Quance up and Quance explodes with a European uppercut then takes him down with an ace crusher. Both men are down and the ref applies the count. They both start to rise to their feet at the six count and then they start trading some shots and Rave takes the advantage as Quance hurts his right arm whenever he throws a punch. Rave goes behind Quance and grabs him with a rear waistlock. He goes for a german suplex but Quance blocks it. Quance delivers some back elbows then goes behind Quance and drops him on his head with his own german suplex. Quance pulls Rave up to his feet slowly and goes for the irish whip but Rave reverses it. Quance comes off the ropes and goes for a clothesline but Rave catches the arm and takes Quance down and goes right into the crippler crossface. Quance ever so slowly drags himself forward and grabs the ropes with his right arm. Quance gets to his feet and Rave attempts to suplex him over the ropes to the outside but Quance reverses it and drops Rave on his head with a brainbuster. Quance climbs up to the top rope holding his right arm. He comes off with a shooting star press and lands right on Rave. Quance hooks the leg with his left arm and gets the three count.

Winner: Bobby Quance (14:22)

Notes: **3/4

OA: 67 CR: 46 MQ: 89

Patterson: “Quance caught Rave with the right series of moves in the end of that match. He worked the neck of Rave throughout the match. Not a whole lot of offense for him but what he did get was pretty impressive stuff.”

Guppie: “Rave worked the arm throughout the match and the crossface looked like it was going to do Quance in but he fought back and quickly won the match after that.”

Patterson: “Folks up next is our first of two main events of the evening. We told you the rules on the website but they have changed a little bit to give both teams lots of chances to score points. Right now Special K leads 2-1 but that will change in this match.”

Guppie: “That’s right. Before the first and second victories of this two out of three falls match would get you one point and the final pinfall if needed would get you two. However that has changed. Now every pinfall of a non-captain is worth one point and pinning the captain is worth two points. Also only pinning the captain of a team is considered a victory in the two out of three falls stipulation.”

Patterson: “Also once a non-captain is pinned he is eliminated until a victory pinfall occurs. Also there are no tags needed. If a teammate rolls out of the ring he can be replaced. Excalibur is the captain of the So-Cal team and he has Disco Machine and Scorpio Sky by his side.”

Guppie: “We don’t know whether Hydro, Angeldust or Deranged will be the captain of the Special K team but they will tell us before the match. I don’t know who’s going to win but I know that this match is going to be insane.”

Segment 6: Special K Moment

Some techo/rave music starts playing as the members of Special K dance their way to the ring. Hydro leads the way as Deranged and Angeldust following behind him waving around glowsticks as they dance. The three men enter the ring and the music stops to their dismay. Hydro takes the mic though and addresses the crowd.

Hydro: “We discussed who should be the captain of our team in the back and we decided that it should be me. I may not be the best known member of Special K here but Deranged and Angeldust are tag champs and we don’t want any jealousy between them. Slim J couldn’t make it tonight because we lost him at a rave after the last show but we three are standing strong to represent Special K. A lot of you people think we are a joke but we are serious competitors. We may like to have fun after the shows but when we are wrestling it is serious. Angeldust and Deranged have been tag team champions for seven months because they are a tag team that knows what they are doing. They may get messed up on the weekend and dance all night but that doesn’t matter when they wrestle. I am serious in this ring and it pisses me off that I lost to that skinny shit Scorpio Sky earlier tonight and we aren’t going down tonight. Special K will live on strong in the SMWA and that is a fact! You So-Cal suckers can come out now and get your asses beat!”

OA: 57

Segment 7: Special K vs. Excalibur, Disco Machine & Scorpio Sky (Lucha Rules, 2/3 Falls)

Deranged and Scorpio start the match off. The two men go through a fast paced exchange of moves and they go back and forth but neither man gains an advantage. They both go for armdrags and hit the mat then kip up and face off. They back off to the applause of the crowd and tag in Angeldust and Disco Machine. The two men face off in the ring and Angeldust nails Disco with some kicks. He then whips Disco into the ropes and goes for a backbody drop but Disco sees it coming and nails him with a kick to the face. Disco then takes Angeldust over with a vertical suplex. The PWG team takes control of the match as they work Angeldust over in their corner. Excalibur becomes the legal man and he picks Angeldust up and spikes him with a double underhook piledriver. He goes for the cover and gets a two count before Deranged breaks up the cover. Excalibur pulls Angeldust to his feet and throws him into his corner then charges and nails him with a big clothesline. Excalibur sets Angeldust up on the top rope then climbs up and delivers a superplex. Excalibur makes the cover and gets the three count as Disco and Scorpio come in to fend off the Special K members. Angeldust is eliminated from this fall and Hydro comes in. Hydro runs right into a leg lariat from Excalibur then rolls out of the ring. Deranged comes in with a springboard dropkick on Excalibur that catches him off guard.

Deranged works over Excalibur with some kicks and a few big impact moves. He drapes Excalibur throat first over the ropes then gets a running start and jumps over the ropes and grabs Excalibur snapping him down on the ropes then sending him sprawling to the mat. Hydro gets up on the top rope and comes in with a splash on Excalibur that gets a two count before he kicks out. Hydro grabs Excalibur and butterflies his arms behind his back. Hydro hits him with a tiger suplex and bridges it. Disco and Scorpio try to get in the ring but Deranged sneaks up behind them and grabs a foot of each man and distracts them long enough for Hydro to get the three count for a fall. (10:31)

Hydro picks Excalibur up again and this time hits him with a dragon suplex and bridges it but Disco comes in and breaks up the cover. Scorpio kicks Deranged off on the outside then springboards off the ropes and hits Deranged with an asai moonsault. Excalibur rolls out of the ring and falls to the outside making Disco the legal man. Disco nails Hydro with a series of knees then takes him over with a snapmare and delivers a stiff kick to the spine. Disco slams Hydro back to the mat then makes a cover that gets a two count before a groggy Hydro makes the save. Hydro rolls out of the ring and Angeldust is legal. Disco hits Angeldust with a forearm and Angeldust nearly falls over. Disco grabs Angeldust and drops him with a brainbuster and gets a three count before either Hydro or Deranged can make the save giving his team one point. Hydro rolls back into the ring and ducks a lariat from Disco. Disco turns around and Hydro takes him over with a swinging neckbreaker. Hydro starts to focus on the neck of Disco and stretches it out with some nice submissions. Hydro goes to his corner and tags in Deranged. Disco slowly gets up to his feet and Deranged clocks him with a step up enziguri. Deranged does some of his own work on the neck of Disco attempting to wear him down. Disco starts to fight back though as he hits Deranged with some back elbows then rolls slides out of the ring. Scorpio climbs up to the top rope and hits Deranged with a flying crossbody block and covers him for a two count before Hydro breaks it up. Hydro pulls Scorpio to his feet and gets caught with a small package but Hydro escapes at two. Hydro whips Scorpio into the ropes and drops him with a big lariat.

Hydro works Scorpio over for a short time then hooks him and drops him with the tiger suplex. Hydro bridges but Excalibur comes in and makes the save. Excalibur shoves Scorpio out under the bottom rope and makes himself the legal man. He whips Hydro into the ropes and catches him with a nice leg lariat. Hydro gets to his feet staggered and Excalibur plants him with a double underhook piledriver. Excalibur makes the cover and gets the three count as Disco stops Deranged from breaking up the cover with a flying forearm. (18:45)

Excalibur rolls Hydro up for another cover but Hydro kicks out at two. Excalibur whips Hydro into the ropes but Hydro grabs the top rope and flips himself over to the outside and lands on his feet before staggering backwards into the guardrail. Deranged comes into the ring and makes it a fight as he goes to town on Excalibur with some big kicks that have Excalibur flinching. Deranged grabs Excalibur and takes him down with a tornado DDT. Deranged makes the cover but only gets a two count before Scorpio pulls him off. Scorpio pulls Deranged to his feet and whips him into the ropes. Deranged rebounds and Scorpio sends him over with a backbody drop. Scorpio exits the ring and Disco comes in with a forearm drop off the second rope across the throat of Deranged. Disco picks Deranged up and drops him with the disco bomb to get a three count and add a point for his team. Angeldust comes in still looking a little woozy and Disco charges but Angeldust delivers a drop toe hold that sends Disco face first into the turnbuckles. Angeldust pulls Disco into the ring and locks in a camel clutch. Disco is showing the pain but Excalibur comes in and delivers a big running kick to the face of Angeldust to break the hold. Excalibur grabs Angeldust and spikes him with another double underhook piledriver. Excalibur makes the cover and gets a three count to add yet another point for his team and take the Special K team down to just Hydro.

Hydro slowly gets back into the ring and he still is looking a little out of it. Excalibur charges but Hydro sends him over the top and to the outside with a backbody drop. Scorpio comes into the ring and charges as well and Hydro sends him into the corner with an overhead belly to belly suplex that drops Scorpio on his head and neck. Disco is just getting to his feet nursing his neck and Hydro grabs him from behind and drops him with a dragon suplex for the three count and the elimination. Hydro pulls Scorpio to his feet and goes for the dragon suplex but Scorpio blocks it and goes behind. Scorpio goes for a german suplex but Hydro flips over and lands on his feet. Hydro takes control of the match and works the neck of Scorpio to set up the finish. Hydro manages to hit Scorpio with a tiger suplex and bridge it but Excalibur breaks up the cover at the two count. Hydro gets to his feet and faces off with Excalibur and rocks him with some forearms shivers then delivers a superkick that sends Excalibur to the mat. Hydro grabs Scorpio before he can get to his feet and locks him into an STF and really wrenches back on the neck of Scorpio. Scorpio looks for the save but Excalibur is barely moving and Scorpio taps out for another elimination taking it down to a one on one encounter.

Hydro lays down on his back as the ref starts the ten count. Excalibur starts to get up at the six count and Hydro quickly gets up when he sees this. The two men face off but this time Excalibur strikes first with some chops but Hydro responds in kind. The two men start to go back and forth with some high impact moves that get them near falls but neither man can get the three count. Hydro manages to catch Excalibur with a bridging dragon suplex but Excalibur gets his feet in the ropes to break up the count. Hydro pulls him to his feet and goes for another dragon suplex but Excalibur blocks it then escapes the waistlock. He spins around and kicks Hydro in the midsection and goes for the double underhook piledriver but Hydro counters with a backbody drop. Excalibur gets up and Hydro kicks him in the midsection then spikes him with a double underhook piledriver of his own. Hydro makes the cover and gets the three count and lays on the mat afterwards.

Winner: Special K (27:43)

Patterson: “What an amazing match! I know we say it all the time but while Special K aren’t the best people in the world they can go in the ring. Hydro went through all three of the So-Cal team members to win the final fall!”

Guppie: “Not only did Hydro pin Excalibur one on one he pinned him with his own finisher in the middle of the ring. So much was going on in that match. The So-Cal team did a nice job of targeting the neck of Angeldust early and he was out of it for the rest of the match and was an easy point for them in each fall.”

Patterson: “Talk about adding insult to injury. After that match what are the totals for each team.”

Guppie: “The So-Cal team scored six points in that match. They got four elimination pinfalls for four points and they pinned Hydro once for two points. The Special K team also got six points as they pinned Excalibur twice for falls and they got two elimination pinfalls. The So-Cal team got one point for Scorpio beating Hydro in the first match and Special K got two points for winning the tag team match. That makes Special K the winner of the challenge with a total of eight points to So-Cal’s seven.”

Patterson: “I’m sure a lot of you are wondering what Special K gets out of this win and to be honest they don’t receive any reward. However they have proved that they are the better team and they can beat those So-Cal wrestlers without resorting to dirty tactics.”

Segment 8: A new Reign

Vito Thomaselli walks down to the ring to the cheers of the crowd and takes the mic from the announcer.

Thomaselli: “I know that N8 Mattson and I have met before in the ring and both times we met N8 came out on top in the end. This time is going to be different though. This time I’m going to be the one that wins in the end. I just won an eight man tournament with some of the best talent in the SMWA in it and I’m more prepared than ever to take on a match of this caliber. The last time I faced off against N8 I had been wrestling part time around the country and I wasn’t focused. But now I’ve become a wrestler first and only. I live for wrestling and I’ve been watching best compete on shows and I’ve learned from them and I’ve learned from watching N8 how to beat him. I’ve learned from wrestling N8 how to beat him. I’ve learned that I can be a champion! And tonight I am going to become a champion. N8 Mattson has the longest title reign in the SMWA but tonight I vow it will come to an end and I will show his Righteous Might to be a joke and a fraud that has not wowed the fans but only annoyed you and me! N8 Come on down and bring the belt because tonight it’s coming how with me!”

OA: 63

Patterson: “And as you can tell from Vito Thomaselli’s appearance it’s time for the main event and he gets a shot at the SMWA Championship as he faces off against N8 Mattson.”

Guppie: “Vito earned this match by winning the Midwest Invitational Tournament and now he has to capitalize on his momentum, but N8 has even more momentum as he hasn’t lost a singles match in over a year here.”

Patterson: “But that reign has to end sometime. The only thing we don’t know is who is going to be the person to end the streak.”

Segment 9: N8 Mattson © vs. Vito Thomaselli (SMWA Championship)

Mattson walks down to the ring and hands the belt to the ref and the two men face off. The bell rings and they start trading punches and forearms. They just brutalize each other until Vito trips Mattson then mounts him and starts raining down punches. Mattson covers up then rolls over and gets on top as he rains down punches. Vito rolls over and gets on top again and throws a couple of punches before the ref breaks them up because they are in the ropes. The ref has to force the two men apart and they get up to their feet. They face off and lockup this time and Mattson backs Vito into the corner. Vito fights out of it and spins Mattson around into the corner. Mattson fights out and the two men struggle along the sides of the ropes then Vito turns Mattson in towards the ring and Mattson shoves forward and the two men fall forward still in the lockup. They get to their feet and Mattson backs Vito up and slams him into the ringpost then flips Vito over with a snapmare variation. Mattson takes control as the two men brawl on the outside. Vito doesn’t stay down for long though as he blocks a punch from Mattson then grabs Mattson’s head and slams him down into the guardrail. Mattson falls to the floor as blood starts to drip down his face. Vito delivers a vertical suplex on the floor then takes Mattson back into the ring. Vito makes a cover and gets a short two count.

Vito pulls Mattson to his feet and throws him into the corner then climbs to the second rope and throws punches to the forehead of Mattson opening up the cut. The crowd counts to ten with the punches and Vito drops down and then delivers an exploder suplex to Mattson. Vito makes the cover and gets another two count. Vito continues to control the match and he works Mattson over and keeps going back to the face keeping the blood flowing which has covered Mattson’s face. Vito picks Mattson up for a brainbuster but Mattson drops down behind Vito and hits him with a vicious backdrop driver that folds Vito up. Both men are down but they get up at the four count of the ref. Vito throws a punch but Mattson blocks it and delivers a swinging neckbreaker. Mattson starts to take control of the match as he works Vito over. Mattson targets the neck of Vito after that vicious backdrop driver and stretches him with an STF but Vito manages to grab the ropes and break the hold. Mattson picks Vito up and goes for a TKO but Vito lands on his feet. Vito grabs Mattson and drops him with a death valley driver. Vito is quick to make the cover and gets the three count.

Winner: Vito Thomaselli (15:23)

Patterson: “Vito Thomaselli has beaten N8 Mattson! He’s ended the winning streak and become the new SMWA Champion!”

Guppie: “A lot of people thought he was going to get wasted, me included, and he just proved all the doubters wrong and he did it in convincing fashion.”

Patterson: “You know N8 is going to be right back after that belt but for now it is Vito Thomaselli’s. For Brian Guppie, I’m Mike Patterson thanks for watching.”

Boiling Point (Kalamazoo)

February 12, 2006

Announcer: Mike Patterson

Color Commentator: Brian Guppie

Patterson: “Welcome to SMWA Boiling Point fans. I’m Mike Patterson and I’m joined by Brian Guppie on commentary. We have an action packed show for you tonight. Vito Thomaselli makes his first title defense against B-Boy the man he beat in the finals of the Midwest Invitational Tournament.”

Guppie: “We have Angeldust and Deranged defended the tag team titles against Youthanazia. N8 Mattson is taking on Excalibur and the team of Jimmy Jacobs and Petey Williams will face Austin Aries and Danny Daniels.”

Patterson: “We have Bobby Quance taking on Nate Webb, Halo fighting Special K leader Hydro and in our opening match Gail Kim takes on the first ever IWA:MS Women’s Champion Lacey.”

Guppie: “Lacey has been a big force in getting some recognition for Women’s wrestling in the United States Indy scene and Gail Kim has been a nemesis of hers since being released by the WWE. This should be a good matchup.”

Segment 1: Lacey vs. Gail Kim

The two girls start the match out with a chain wrestling sequence before Gail takes the advantage with a poke to the eye. Gail takes Lacey down with a side russian leg sweep then traps the arm between her legs in a reverse cross armbar that puts more pressure on the neck and arm. Lacey manages to scoot over and get a foot on the ropes to break the hold. Gail continues to control the match and work Lacey over with some flashy submissions. Gail its Lacey with a powerslam then climbs up to the top rope looking for a moonsault but Lacey gets to her feet and takes the legs out from under Gail trapping her on the top rope. Lacey climbs the ropes and hits Gail with several forearms to the back of the neck then takes her off the ropes with a big belly to back suplex. Both women are down and slowly get to their feet as the ref reaches the five count. Lacey starts a comeback and works Gail over then whips her into the ropes. Gail comes off the ropes and goes for a spinning headscissors but stays up on Lacey and traps her in a submission. Lacey fights to get her left arm free then grabs Gail’s head and delivers a DVD variation. Lacey hooks the legs and covers Gail for the three count.

Winner: Lacey (8:22)

OA: 56 CR: 52 MQ: 74

Patterson: “That match will show many fans that women’s wrestling isn’t just about eye candy. They can wrestle just as well as the boys.”

Guppie: “Some of the boys that is. Those two definitely put on a great contest there and it could be the start of a regular women’s division here in the SMWA.”

Patterson: “Up next the men will try to regain the stage as Halo takes on Hydro.”

Guppie: “These two men should be able to do it. They are both electric in the ring. Hydro showed what he’s made of in the six man tag at the last match and Halo has always been one of the top guys around here.”

Segment 2: Halo vs. Hydro

Halo and Hydro start the match off with a fast paced exchange of moves and Hydro takes the advantage as he counters a hiptoss by spinning in the air and turning it into a monkey flip that sends Halo across the ring. Halo gets to his feet and gets nailed by a leg lariat from Hydro. Hydro keeps the momentum going in his direction for a short time before Halo makes a contest of the match as he ducks a clothesline and hits a solid belly to back suplex. The two men continue to go back and forth in the match trading control back and forth as they both hit and reverse some high impact moves. Halo sends Hydro into the ropes and hits him with a hurrincanranna and Hydro rolls out of the ring as he hits the mat. Halo bounces off the far ropes and jumps over with a plancha but he hits the floor hard as he takes Hydro down and both men stay down. The ref starts to count them out but Halo gets to his feet and rolls into the ring and back out to restart the count. Hydro grabs Halo as he comes back out and sends him into the guardrails by grabbing the front of his trunks. Hydro pulls Halo to his feet and rolls him back into the ring. Hydro goes to work on the neck of Halo with some nice submissions and big moves. He goes for the dragon suplex but Halo blocks it by wrapping his foot around Hydro’s leg. He then breaks the full nelson and flips Hydro with a snapmare and flips over with a neck whip.

Halo gets to his feet and nurses his neck as he walks. Hydro starts getting to his feet and Halo bounces off the ropes and hits a dropkick to the side of his head. Halo rolls him over for a cover and gets a two count. Halo goes to work on Hydro and starts to slow him down with some big offensive moves. Halo delivers a brainbuster to Hydro then climbs up to the top rope. He goes for a phoenix splash but Hydro rolls out of the way and Halo crashes and burns. Hydro gets to his feet and takes control of the match as he goes back to the neck of Halo with a neckbreaker and then into a camel clutch. Halo crawls forward slowly and almost reaches the ropes when Hydro loosens the clutch and turns it into a prawn hold that gets him a two count before Halo kicks out. Halo gets to his feet and starts firing back with desperate strength that staggers Hydro. Halo backs him into the corner then unleashes with a series of chops. Halo tries to lift Hydro up onto the top rope but Hydro fights back with some punches then pulls him face first into the corner by grabbing the front of his trunks as he drops to the mat. Hydro delivers some forearms to the back of Halo’s neck then sets him up on the top rope. Hydro climbs up the ropes and hooks his legs over the top rope then hits Halo with a spider german suplex. Hydro flips over to the mat then covers Halo for the three count.

Winner: Hydro (14:31)

Notes: **3/4

OA: 56 CR: 37 MQ: 89

Patterson: “We’ve seen tables and ladders here in the SMWA but that may have been one of the most brutal maneuvers I’ve seen used. Halo landed on the back of his head and shoulders from a german suplex off the top rope.”

Guppie: “Hydro is proving his deadliness with those rear suplexes. Tiger suplexes, dragon suplexes and german suplexes will put down any of his foes and he’s really breaking out as a star here.”

Patterson: “Halo seems to be okay as he’s being helped to the back by our refs. It’s time for our next match now as Bobby Quance takes on Nate Webb.”

Guppie: “Nate Webb is returning to action after a brief absence and he could really use some wins here in the SMWA. Quance has done fairly well so far but the more wins the better. Both of these guys could really be big deals here if they can get some wins down.”

Segment 3: Bobby Quance vs. Nate Webb

Webb starts the match by nailing Quance with a suicide dive as he walks to the ring. Webb keeps the match on the outside of the ring for the early portions and controls the match with his brawling skills. Quance turns the match around as Webb goes for a powerslam on the outside but Quance slips down his back then nails him with a forearm to the back of his head. Quance spins him around then delivers a vertical suplex on the gym floor. Quance wastes no time in rolling Webb into the ring. Quance goes for the cover and gets a long one count. Once the action gets back into the ring Quance starts to dominate in his element and he goes to work on the back of Webb. Webb fights back but Quance manages to keep his offensive to a minimum. Quance takes Webb down with a big backbreaker then goes right into a boston crab. Webb fights the hold and gets the ropes but Quance pulls him back into the middle of the ring and sits down really wrenching the hold and Webb taps out.

Winner: Bobby Quance (7:45)

Notes: *3/4

OA: 54 CR: 43 MQ: 78

Patterson: “Bobby Quance gets a big win here as he beats Nate Webb fairly easily.”

Guppie: “Webb had an advantage when they were out on the floor but once Quance brought the action into the ring it was a completely different story.”

Patterson: “That’s for sure Brian. Up next we have a tag team grudge match that developed from our last show. Jimmy Jacobs and Petey Williams team up to take on Austin Aries and Danny Daniels.”

Guppie: “Danny Daniels lost to Jacobs at that show but Aries beat Williams with the help of Daniels and both of these teams are going to be interesting combinations.”

Segment 4: Jimmy Jacobs & Petey Williams vs. Austin Aries & Danny Daniels

Williams and Aries start the match off with some nice chain wrestling and they end up with a stalemate and they each tag in their partner. Jacobs and Daniels face off and Daniels gains the advantage with some strikes before Jacobs turns the tables on him with some fast paced offensive maneuvers like armdrags. Jacobs tags in Williams who explodes on the man who cost him his match at the last show. Williams grabs Daniels and goes for the flipping piledriver but it’s way too early and Daniels counters it with a backbody drop. Williams gets to his feet and gets clobbered by a clothesline from Daniels. Daniels starts to work on the neck of Williams with a rear chinlock. Daniels tags in Aries and Aries nails Williams with a dropkick to the face as Daniels breaks the hold. The two men isolate Williams and they beat him down as they focus on the neck of Williams. Williams doesn’t stand for that abuse and starts fighting back. He sends Daniels off the apron and Aries to the mat with some forearms before collapsing himself. He starts to crawl to his corner but Aries grabs his ankle and pulls him away. Williams gets to his free foot though and nails Aries with an enziguri then crawls and makes the tag to Jacobs as the crowd explodes with husses.

Jacobs comes into the ring and sends Daniels back to the outside as he climbs through the ropes with a dropkick. Aries gets to his feet and Jacobs drops him with a swinging neckbreaker. Jacobs is on a roll and goes for his reverse pedigree on Aries but Aries counters it into an electric chair drop that flattens Jacobs on the mat. Jacobs and Aries are both slow to their feet and the pace has slowed down after that move. The two men go back and forth before Aries hits a DDT then tags out to Daniels. Daniels comes in and falls victim to a DDT from Jacobs who also uses the move as an opportunity to tag out. Williams comes back in more energized and he catches Daniels with a side russian legsweep then locks in a sharpshooter to the delight of the crowd. Aries comes in and breaks the hold up with a superkick though fairly quickly. The two men go back and forth with the action and Daniels hits a crossarm german suplex on Williams and gets a two count before Jacobs breaks up the cover. Aries comes in and all hell breaks lose as all four men fight in the ring. Daniels drops Jacobs with a piledriver but Williams catches him with a big german suplex that drops him on his head and both men roll to the outside. Williams and Aries are left in the ring and both men go for some big moves but our countered. Aries gets caught with a kick to the gut though and Williams nails him with the flipping piledriver and makes the cover for the three count.

Winner: Jacobs & Williams (16:39)

Notes: *3/4

OA: 56 CR: 48 MQ: 78

Patterson: “Petey Williams gets some revenge on Austin Aries who beat him at the last show.”

Guppie: “That was a fast paced battle from start to finish and Jacobs and Williams were lucky to come out with a victory.”

Patterson: “But they did and that’s what matters. Former SMWA Champion N8 Mattson is in action for our next match and he takes on Excalibur.”

Guppie: “And Mattson is going to be trying to prove that he’s still a champion and that he deserves that belt back.”

Segment 5: Path of Thorns

The lights go dim and N8 Mattson is led to the ring by Jim Fannin. The two men enter the ring and Fannin takes the mic.

Fannin: “Tonight it is not the Lord who speaks it will be N8 Mattson and I will let him say his piece.”

Fannin hands the mic over to Mattson.

Mattson: “At the last show I lost the SMWA Championship to Vito Thomaselli. A man that I have beaten before in the ring. Many of you may say that Vito has improved but that is not the truth. The truth is that I was filled with pride and this loss was my punishment. Now I see that I was not the champion to make myself more than I was. I was champion to lead this promotion into honor and respectability but I was consumed with lust for the gold around my waist. I am here to punish the guilty and that is what I will do again. Vito Thomaselli when you have stepped wrong I will be there to correct you and that time is sooner than you may be expecting. Tonight is not about any belt or championship it is about showing Excalibur the error of his ways. But it is not my place to tell the condemned their crime that is my friend, Fannin’s job.”

Fannin takes the mic back as the crowd boos.

Fannin: “That is right Mister Mattson. Excalibur, like many other people in this promotion you have taking vengeance into your own hands when it is not your rightful place. Special K did indeed wrong you in this ring but you are not the man to punish them. Mister Mattson will take care of those punks when it is time but so many worse men roam around the SMWA and must be punished first and you are one of those men and tonight it’s not revenge it’s punishment!”

OA: 53

Segment 6: N8 Mattson vs. Excalibur

Excalibur runs to the ring incensed by the words of Fannin and he slides in only to be caught by vicious stomps from Mattson. Mattson pulls Excalibur to his feet and whips him into the ropes. Excalibur comes off the ropes hard and nails Mattson with a shoulder tackle. The two men have a rope running sequence that ends with Excalibur dropping Mattson with a leg lariat and Mattson bails to the outside to consult with Fannin. Excalibur bounces off the ropes and takes both men down with a plancha over the top rope. Fannin avoids any damage and nails Excalibur with a low blow while the ref checks on Mattson. Mattson takes advantage of the cheating and whips Excalibur hard into the guardrail. Mattson takes advantage of that with some brawling on the outside. Mattson takes a chair from the crowd and before he can drill Excalibur with it the ref stops him. Fannin gets in the refs face and Mattson slams the chair down across the skull of Excalibur. Mattson rolls his limp body into the ring then follows and makes a cover for a two count to the delight of the crowd. Excalibur starts fighting back but Mattson clobbers him with a big forearm to the face and follows that with a brainbuster. Mattson makes the cover and gets a two count before Excalibur drapes a leg over the ropes.

Mattson pulls Excalibur to his feet and takes a kick to the balls. Excalibur fights back with some stiff chops and forearms then delivers a brainbuster of his own and both men are down. Both men are up at the ref’s five count. The exchange chops then Excalibur catches Mattson with a chop that staggers him and Excalibur follows with a kick to the gut then goes for the double underhook piledriver but Mattson counters it with a backbody drop. Mattson takes control of the match again and just starts decimating Excalibur with high impact moves. Mattson grabs Excalibur with a fireman’s carry then drops him with a TKO. Mattson climbs up to the top rope and taunts the crowd then comes off with a legdrop across the throat of Excalibur for the three count.

Winner: N8 Mattson (13:57)

Notes: **

OA: 57 CR: 51 MQ: 78

Patterson: “N8 Mattson is back to his winning ways and despite his words the title belt still means something to him you can tell.”

Guppie: “Yes it does. He can hide behind his preaching but he can’t hide the truth. Excalibur faced that truth though and it overcame him as it has many men before him.”

Patterson: “And we move onto another dominant force as Youthanazia challenge the Special K team of Angeldust and Deranged for the SMWA Tag Team Championship.”

Guppie: “They are the longest reigning champions of any kind in the SMWA and they have beaten some high caliber teams. Tonight though could be their toughest challenge. Youthanazia could prove to be as tough as the Havana Pitbulls and they gave Special K a close call on those belts.”

Segment 7: Special K © vs. Youthanazia (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

M-Dogg and Angeldust start the match off and they go through a fast paced exchange then both men tag out to their partners. Deranged and Prohibition go through a series of reversals before Angeldust nails Prohibition in the back of the head with a kick. M-Dogg comes back into the ring and it’s a pier six brawl as all four men are in the ring and swinging away. Prohibition drops Deranged with a backdrop driver and Deranged rolls out of the ring. Prohibition slings himself over the ropes with a plancha onto him. Angeldust hits M-Dogg with a snap suplex then charges and dives through the ropes with a suicide dive onto everybody. M-Dogg gets to his feet and as everybody recovers on the outside he jumps onto the top rope then springboards out with a shooting star press onto everybody to a big pop. M-Dogg takes Angeldust back into the ring and controls the match and works Angeldust over with some nice looking moves. M-Dogg goes for a hurrincanranna but Angeldust catches him and turns it into a powerbomb then tags in Deranged. Deranged comes in and catches M-Dogg from behind with a face smash. Deranged makes a cover and gets a two count. Deranged takes M-Dogg into the corner and works him over with some kicks then sets him up on the top rope. Deranged climbs up and goes for a superplex but M-Dogg blocks it then picks Deranged up and throws him down to the mat. M-Dogg gets to his feet and goes for a shooting star press but Deranged moves out of the way. M-Dogg slowly crawls to his corner though and tags in Prohibition as Deranged tags in Angeldust.

Angeldust moves forward quickly and catches a spinning heel kick from Prohibition. The two men go back and forth with their moves both men trying to catch a lucky break. The one that catches that break is Prohibition who manages to grab Angeldust and drop him with a swinging neckbreaker. Prohibition drops a couple of knees to the side of Angeldust’s head then puts him in a dragon sleeper. Angeldust fights the hold and manages to spin around and hit a northern lights suplex for a two count to break the hold. Angeldust starts to take control of the match at this point and he and Deranged isolate Prohibition in their corner and work him over with some clever double teaming. Prohibition takes the beating but he doesn’t give up. He attempts to fight back but can’t gain enough leverage to break free of the attacks. Deranged grabs Prohibition and folds him up with a nice german suplex. Prohibition gets right to his feet but he’s out of it and Deranged grabs him from behind and hits him with a bridging german suplex that gets a two count before M-Dogg breaks Deranged’s bridge with a frog splash. The ref backs M-Dogg to his corner at the cries of Angeldust. Prohibition gets to his feet slowly and looks to make the tag but Angeldust comes in behind the refs back and hits a backdrop driver on Prohibition. Angeldust rolls Deranged out of the ring and claps his hands to make a tagging sound.

Angeldust makes a cover then yells to get the ref’s attention and gets a two count. Angeldust whips Prohibition into the ropes and Prohibition slides between his legs as he rebounds then tags in M-Dogg as he falls to the floor. M-Dogg comes in with a springboard dropkick to the face of a stunned Angeldust. M-Dogg goes on a tear nailing Angeldust with a lot of big maneuvers. He finishes that sequence with an inverted DDT then he climbs up to the top rope and hits Angeldust with a shooting star legdrop. He makes the cover and gets a two count before Deranged pulls him out of the ring. M-Dogg turns around and nails Deranged with a forearm then sends him face first into the ringpost. M-Dogg turns around in time to see Angeldust coming through the ropes with a suicide dive and he jumps up and stops him with a big forearm. M-Dogg climbs onto the apron then springboards into the ring and takes Angeldust over with a sunset flip and gets a three count.

Winner: Youthanazia (21:27)

Patterson: “We have new Tag Team Champions! M-Dogg 20 and Josh Prohibition have defeated Angeldust and Deranged to become the second SMWA Tag Team Champions.”

Guppie: “Special K did a good job of working over Josh Prohibition but they tired out doing that and they didn’t attack M-Dogg enough to put him down for the count.”

Patterson: “Our next match is the main event and it is Vito Thomaselli’s first SMWA Championship defense and it’s against B-Boy.”

Guppie: “These guys have faced each other twice so far and both men have won a match. B-Boy won a match with the help of Chance Beckett and Vito won their last match in the finals of the Midwest Invitational Tournament. This is going to be a hell of a contest.”

Segment 8: Vito Thomaselli © vs. B-Boy (SMWA Championship)

The two men face off and go into a tentative knuckle lock. B-Boy takes the advantage and pushes Vito down to the mat and gets a two count but Vito lifts a shoulder up. B-Boy forces the shoulder back down and gets a two count before Vito lifts the other shoulder up. Vito drops flat and gets his feet in B-Boy’s stomach and flips him over. Vito flips himself over holding the knuckle lock and pins B-Boy down and gets a two count himself. B-Boy delivers some kicks to the back of Vito that don’t hit with a lot of force but enough to break Vito’s grip and free himself. Both men get to their feet to the appreciative applause of the crowd. B-Boy offers a handshake that Vito accepts then B-Boy delivers a step up enziguri that sends Vito to the mat. B-Boy whips Vito into the ropes and gets nailed by a big shoulder block. B-Boy gets to his feet and the two men start exchanging some vicious forearms but neither man backs down. B-Boy decides to start chopping and Vito’s chest starts to turn red from the vicious chops and he starts to flinch more and more until he exposes his back and B-Boy nails him with a big kick right to the back of his head that staggers him into the corner. B-Boy rocks him with some forearms to the back of his neck then drops him on his head with a backdrop driver.

B-Boy makes a cover and gets a two count. B-Boy continues to work on the neck of Vito with some brutal head drops that get some ooh’s from the crowd. B-Boy drops Vito with an especially brutal looking piledriver and makes the cover and the crowd is delighted when Vito kicks out at two. B-Boy drops Vito with a big rolling forearm then backs up. Vito gets to one knee and B-Boy goes for the shining wizard but Vito ducks it. He grabs the right leg of B-Boy and goes right into an ankle lock. B-Boy is quick to crawl to the ropes and break the hold though. Vito has recovered enough though and starts to fight back and he goes after the leg of B-Boy that he got with the ankle lock. Vito nails B-Boy with a dropkick to the right knee then grabs him with a legbar. B-Boy slams his arms down on the mat and fights the pain. He sits up and nails Vito with chops until he gets him to break the hold. Both men get to their feet and they trade some forearms before B-Boy sends Vito into the ropes. Vito comes off the ropes and B-Boy drills him with a brutal knife edge chop that echoes through the building. B-Boy pulls Vito to his feet and delivers some chops to the chest of Vito which is starting to bleed from the abuse. Vito is trapped in the corner and B-Boy knocks him into a seated position with some forearms. He goes the opposite corner then charges with a dropkick that rocks Vito. B-Boy rolls out of the corner and grabs his right leg in pain. He pulls Vito to him and makes a cover but it’s too late and Vito kicks out at two.

B-Boy pulls Vito to his feet and goes for a vertical suplex but Vito lands behind B-Boy and trips him up and locks him in an STF. B-Boy panics but realizes he’s close to the ropes and slowly pulls himself forward and grabs the ropes to break the hold. B-Boy pulls himself to his feet using the ropes. Vito charges with a chop block but Vito hops over his attack and lands with an elbow drop to his back. B-Boy pulls Vito to his feet and hits him with the cross special brainbuster. B-Boy makes the cover and gets a two count before the ref notices Vito’s foot on the ropes. B-Boy is pissed and he backs off. Vito gets to a knee and B-Boy charges and again Vito ducks the kick and grabs the right leg. He goes into an ankle lock again but this time he gets to one knee and doesn’t allow B-Boy to crawl forward. Luckily for B-Boy N8 Mattson walks out from the back at this time and is behind Vito who doesn’t notice despite the crowds yelling. As the ref asks B-Boy if he quits Mattson slides into the ring and nails Vito in the back of the head with a dropkick that breaks the hold. Mattson rolls out of the ring. Vito gets to one knee and B-Boy finally manages to connect with a shining wizard. B-Boy drags himself forward ignoring the pain in his knee and drapes an arm over Vito and gets the three count.

Patterson: “Disgusting! B-Boy is our new SMWA Champion thanks to the interference of N8 Mattson.”

Guppie: “I don’t think B-Boy really knows what happened but that certainly isn’t the right way to win the title and Vito better get a rematch for that championship. Not to say that B-Boy isn’t deserving of the title though. He is more than competent in the ring but tonight was not the way he should have won that title.”

Patterson: “N8 Mattson is going to pay for his actions tonight. Vito Thomaselli isn’t going to take this attack laying down. Folks I’m sorry for the way the show ended but thanks for watching. Be sure to check out smwawrestling.com for info on our next show and your favorite wrestlers.”

Thanks for the replies both of you. I'm working closer to 40 hours a week now so the time between shows will probably be about 5 days like it has been recently. I'm not completely sure on that though it really depends on how easy a show is for me to right but 5 days should be the average now.

The 2005 Review

www.michindywrestling.com

March 3, 2006

Holden McNeal

2005 saw a lot of change in the Michigan Independent scene. Many small federations have opened and closed making little impact but that same thing isn’t true about the big three federations here. Border City Wrestling has been expanding into Canada more and has gained a more mainstream audience with it’s use of former WWE and WCW workers. Independent Wrestling Revolution has continued to showcase many of the brightest Michigan wrestlers as well as some of the biggest Indy names. The Southern Michigan Wrestling Alliance has continued to draw lots of attention from outside the state and some from inside and are growing quickly.

Border City Wrestling has always been the biggest name federation in the Michigan Indy Scene and that continues to be true. They have been bringing in some of the most widely recognized names in the business. D-Lo Brown and Shane Douglas continue to do well there although they aren’t feuding regularly anymore. Alex Shelly, Chris Sabin and Petey Williams have been doing some good work there and they have become more popular with their exposure on NWA:TNA. D-Lo has held the BCW Championship for quite some time and is proving to be a strong fan favorite and a dominant champion. I’m thinking that Shelly, Sabin or Williams could be the one to topple him and really make a run for the top of the card there.

Independent Wrestling Revolution has continued to focus on the Michigan scene as well as bringing in occasional big name indy workers. Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles and Chris Hero have all made stops there this year. N8 Mattson, Jimmy Jacobs and Alex Shelley remain the anchors of the promotion although Shelley has started to become phased out of the promotion’s top levels probably in fear that he will be leaving them soon for bigger companies. However the IWR has continued to do well. Mattson and Jacobs have continued to feud over the King of the Indies title. The Bump-N-Uglies continue to run over the tag team division despite their lack of workrate but that’s just my opinion.

The Southern Michigan Wrestling Alliance has become a sensation across the nation. Their work with Pro Wrestling Guerilla generated a lot of interest in them. The main event scene has slowly shifted as N8 Mattson and Vito Thomaselli are the two latest champs and B-Boy is the current champ while all three were just starting to work their way up the card earlier. Vito has seen great strides in the SMWA though as he eliminated Chance Beckett from the promotion and was the man to finally end N8 Mattson’s undefeated streak of 13 months. The departures of Alex Shelley, Slim J and Chance Beckett required the card to be moved around and they have done that well and survived. Angeldust and Deranged controlled the tag titles since their inception before finally being knocked off the top by the team of M-Dogg 20 and Josh Prohibition on the last show.

Now we get to the part of the article that everybody likes the most. The lists.

Michigan Independent Wrestler of the Year

1. Alex Shelley - A major force in all three of the promotions and he has become a draw all across the nation. He’s the next big thing to come out of Michigan and is the head of a group of talented wrestlers.

2. N8 Mattson - His role in IWR and his undefeated run in the SMWA helped both federations and really kept the boat afloat in the SMWA. His in ring work has been good as have his feuds.

3. D-Lo Brown - The champ of BCW and still one of the biggest draws operating in Michigan. He may not be the best in ring worker but he has drawn lots of attention to BCW.

Michigan Independent Match of the Year

1. Alex Shelley vs. Chance Beckett (2/3 Falls, SMWA 4/17/2005) - These two men went all out for over forty minutes and they had the crowd excited the whole time. These two men are great wrestlers and they proved it in this match if they hadn’t already done that.

2. AJ Styles vs. Alex Shelley (IWR 7/13/2005) - Alex Shelley took Styles to the mat and worked the leg and Styles sold the injury perfectly. There is a reason Shelley has the top two matches in the state this year and he showed Styles what he was about in this match.

3. Vito Thomaselli vs. B-Boy (SMWA 12/3/2005) - Barely making it into this year these guys worked each other with no abandon and really went to town and showed everybody that the Midwest Invitational Tournament means something.

Michigan Independent Show of the Year

SMWA Midwest Invitational II Night 1 (11/26/2005) - A night with some great action in the first round of the tournament. Matt Sydal and Mattson had a nice title match at the end of the show and Angeldust and Deranged also had a great title defense against Johnny Spade and Halo. All in all this show was just an awesome show from start to finish.

That’s all for this year.

To The Extreme

March 19, 2006 (Cadillac)

Announcer: Mike Patterson

Color Commentator: Brian Guppie

Patterson: “Welcome to the SMWA’s To the Extreme! I’m Mike Patterson and joining me on commentary is my trusty partner Brian Guppie. We’ve got a great show lined up for you fans tonight with a big main event as B-Boy and Vito Thomaselli face off for the SMWA Championship in a thirty minute ironman match.”

Guppie: “We also have Youthanazia defending the Tag Team Titles against the Havana Pitbulls. N8 Mattson must face Nate Webb in a no holds barred match as punishment for his interference at the last show.”

Patterson: “We have Austin Aries taking on Jimmy Rave one on one. Hydro will face Petey Williams and we open the show with a four corners match as Sedrick Strong, Bobby Quance, Roderick Strong and Delirious all face off.”

Guppie: “It’s going to be interesting to see if the Strong Brothers work together. This is not an elimination match this is one fall to a finish. They both want to win but will they attack each other? That is the question.”

Patterson: “And we’re going to find out as that match is happening right now.”

Segment 1: Sedrick Strong vs. Bobby Quance vs. Roderick Strong vs. Delirious

Delirious and Sedrick start the match off and they go through a short chain wrestling sequence before Delirious nails Sedrick with a big dropkick right to the face. Sedrick rolls away and tags in his brother Roderick. Roderick comes in and takes Delirious down with a big clothesline. Roderick goes to work on Delirious and attacks the back with some brutal back breaker variations before he backs up in a corner and Quance tags himself in. Quance comes in and follows up on Roderick’s back work and eventually gets Delirious in a boston crab but Sedrick breaks the hold up by grabbing Quance from behind and taking him down with a bulldog. The ref takes Sedrick out of the ring and Delirious tags in Roderick. Roderick comes in and whips Quance into the ropes. He goes for a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker but Quance counters it with a spinning headscissors and Roderick slides out of the ring and Sedrick comes in. Sedrick hits Quance with a backdrop driver then starts to control the match. He and Roderick isolate Quance until Roderick hits an STO backbreaker and goes for the cover which Sedrick breaks up at two. The two brothers start pushing each other then brawling and Quance tags in Delirious. Delirious sends Sedrick out of the ring with a running forearm then goes to work on Roderick. Delirious whips Roderick into a corner and Quance tags himself in. Delirious hits Roderick with an avalanche splash and Quance grabs Delirious as he comes off the splash and hits him with a bridging german suplex for the three count.

Winner: Bobby Quance (10:46)

Notes: *1/4

OA: 55 CR: 35 MQ: 75

Patterson: “A great move by Bobby Quance to win the match. He waited until all the other opponents were down then struck at Delirious and went to work on the injured back with a nice bridging german suplex to get a three count.”

Guppie: “That’s the most important part of these matches with multiple contestants is knowing where everybody is and that’s how Bobby Quance picked up the win.”

Patterson: “Up next Hydro faces off against Petey Williams. Both of these men have been doing good recently and tonight one of them really gets the chance to shine in the ring and prove themselves.”

Guppie: “Hydro has been using some hard hitting suplexes while Williams has really rounded out his offense and added to his awesome finisher which makes him a more dangerous all around competitor.”

Segment 2: Hydro vs. Petey Williams

The two men lockup to start the match and Hydro goes behind with a hammerlock. Petey hits a back elbow then escapes and gets Hydro with a hammerlock of his own. The two men continue going back and forth with some holds early in the match and neither man is able to gain an advantage with the technical wrestling so Hydro whips Petey into the ropes and nails him with a leg lariat. Hydro pulls Petey to his feet and hits a vertical suplex then floats over for a short two count. Hydro continues the offensive and goes after the neck of Petey. Hydro snapmares Petey then flips over with a neck whip. Hydro grabs the legs of Petey and goes into an elevated boston crab but Petey is quick to make it to the ropes and break the hold. Petey gets to his feet holding his neck. Hydro charges but Petey sends him up and over with a backbody drop and Hydro goes out of the ring and hits the gym floor hard. Petey bounces off the far ropes then jumps to the outside with a hands free plancha. Petey takes Hydro back into the ring and targets the neck of Hydro himself. Petey hits a big backdrop driver on Hydro then goes right into a rear chinlock and sticks his knee into Hydro’s upper back. Hydro fights to his feet and spins around in the hold but Petey hits him with a knee to the gut then takes him down with a DDT for a two count.

Petey pulls Hydro to his feet and Hydro hits him with a european uppercut then grabs Petey and drops him with a brainbuster. The ref starts the ten count and gets to five before either man gets to their feet. They face off and start exchanging chops and forearms and Petey gains the advantage. Petey backs Hydro into the corner then sets him up on the top rope. Petey climbs up and goes for a hurrincanranna but Hydro holds onto the top rope and Petey slams down to the mat by himself. He gets to his feet and Hydro comes off with a crossbody block that gets a two count. Hydro goes back to work on the neck of Petey then grabs him with a sleeper hold. Petey fights the hold and starts climbing up the ropes. Before he can push off Hydro pulls him away and slams him down and breaks the sleeper hold. Hydro makes a cover and gets another two count. Hydro pulls Petey to his feet and hits him with a tiger suplex and Petey somehow kicks out at the two count. Hydro can’t believe the count and he starts arguing with the ref. Petey recovers and grabs Hydro from behind and drops him on his head with a release german suplex. Petey goes to the corner and starts pulling in the imaginary rope as Hydro staggers towards him. Petey kicks Hydro in the corner then spikes him with the flipping piledriver. Petey crawls over and makes the cover for a tree count.

Winner: Petey Williams (14:32)

Notes: ***

OA: 68 CR: 45 MQ: 91

Patterson: “What a match between those two men. They went all out and hit some big moves hoping to get the win.”

Guppie: “I thought that Hydro had the match won with his tiger suplex but Petey proved me wrong there.”

Patterson: “Yes he did indeed. Our next match has Austin Aries take on Jimmy Rave. This should be a good match between these two men.”

Guppie: “Rave has been a big factor in NWA: Wildside and he’s going to get a big chance here in the SMWA. Aries has been impressive so far here and both men could really get something going for themselves with a win here.”

Segment 3: Austin Aries vs. Jimmy Rave

The two men go back and forth early on with some quick maneuvers until Rave takes Aries over with an armdrag and goes right into an armbar. Aries fights out of the armbar but Rave takes him down and goes through a sequence of submissions that work on the left arm of Aries and ends up with a hammerlock. Aries gets to his feet then jumps up and flips Rave over with a snapmare then drills him in the back with a sharp kick to the spine. Aries cradles his right arm against his midsection as he pulls Rave to his feet and blasts him with a chop. Aries takes Rave down with a snap suplex and he starts to get some momentum going his way. Aries controls the match at this point in time and then hits Rave with a spinebuster that leaves him close to the ropes. Aries goes out to the apron then jumps over the ropes and hits a spinning splash and covers Rave for a two count. Aries pulls Rave to his feet and Rave nails him with a knee to the midsection. Rave takes Aries over with a snapmare then hits a kick to the back of Aries’ left shoulder then grabs him for a cross armbreaker but Aries hooks his arms and scoots to the ropes to break the hold. Aries gets to his feet and Rave grabs him from behind and hits a backdrop driver then makes the cover for a two count.

Rave continues on the offensive and goes back to work on the arm of Aries. He traps the arm behind Aries’ back at all times to add impact to the arm on powerslams and suplexes. Rave traps the arm behind Aries’ back as he hits a nice northern lights suplex with a bridge that gets him a two count. Aries sits up after kicking out and Rave nails him in the face with a big running knee. Aries is down and Rave grabs the left arm and goes right into a cross armbreaker. Aries fights the hold against the pain and manages to grab the ropes with his right arm. The ref makes Rave break the hold and Aries rolls to the outside to nurse his injured arm. Rave charges the ropes but Aries stops him with a superkick as he comes through the ropes and Rave tumbles down through the ropes to the outside to a holy shit chant from the crowd. Aries slams Rave face first onto the apron then rolls him into the ring. Aries picks Rave up and drops him with a brainbuster then checks his left arm and shakes it out trying to loosen up the muscles. Aries climbs up to the top rope but Rave gets to his feet and takes his legs out from underneath him racking him up. Rave goes for a superplex but Aries fights Rave off and nails him with some left punches before Rave finally falls to the mat. Aries nurses his left arm as he gets to his feet then goes for the 450 splash but Rave moves out of the way and Aries slams into the mat. Aries gets right on Rave and goes after the left arm with a fujiwara armbar. Aries tries to move around but Rave gets his weight down on him stopping from moving and Aries taps out.

Winner: Jimmy Rave (16:51)

Notes: *1/2

OA: 59 CR: 44 MQ: 75

Patterson: “Jimmy Rave is excellent when he goes to work on the arm and that’s what he did here.”

Guppie: “He even caught Aries with his trademark running knee and he just executed his offense to perfection and even though Aries kept fighting back he was able to eventually put him down and force him to tap.”

Patterson: “Our next match should be completely different than what we have seen so far. This isn’t going to be a nice competition this is going to be a brawl.”

Guppie: “N8 Mattson is forced to take on Nate Webb in a no holds barred, falls count anywhere match because he interfered in the title match last month. Some of you may be thinking what’s the big deal? Well the big deal is that Nate Webb is an accomplished death match wrestler and probably knows how to use weapons better than anybody in the SMWA. That’s what the big deal is.”

Patterson: “That’s very true and I don’t know how much of this type of abuse Mattson can take. He has used tables and chairs but Webb uses barbed wire and light tubes and that’s a completely different world.”

Segment 4: Something Wicked This Way Comes

Nate Mattson walks down the ramp led by Jim Fannin. Fannin climbs into the ring and holds the ropes open for Mattson then takes the mic.

Fannin: “Tonight the SMWA board of directors think they are punishing N8 Mattson. But tonight they are rewarding him. They are giving him a test of his faith and strength in his belief. Tonight he will face something he has never had to face before and his faith will give him the edge he needs. N8 Mattson must face Nate Webb who is a death match wrestler. He likes to bleed and he likes to make others bleed and N8 will bleed tonight and he will make Webb bleed and he will get the last laugh. Soon N8 and Vito will have to confront each other and rules will not be able to contain the two men and they will end up in a match like this and N8 Mattson appreciates the chance to get some experience in this environment. Nate Webb come on down and become a victim of your own weapons. This is your punishment not N8 Mattson’s!”

OA: 52

Segment 5: N8 Mattson vs. Nate Webb (No Holds Barred)

Nate slowly makes his way to the ring as “Teenage Dirtbag” plays as he dances with the crowd. Mattson gets sick of waiting and slides out of the ring to start the match but Webb expected it and he trips a charging Mattson on the outside. Webb grabs Mattson by the back of his pants and sends him over the guardrail and into the crowd. Webb climbs up to the top rope then moonsaults off onto Mattson and takes out a large section of the seats that were setup. Mattson stays on the receiving end of a beating as the two men brawl through the crowd. Mattson manages to get the upperhand with a poke to the eyes then hurls Webb with a hiptoss into the vacated chairs. Mattson takes Webb back into the ring and starts to actually wrestle as he takes control of the match. Mattson goes for a TKO early and it gets reversed as Webb lands on his feet then hits Mattson with a dropkick that sends him out of the ring. Webb bounces off the ropes and hits Mattson with a suicide dive. Webb reaches under the ring and pulls out a barbed wire table and a light tube. He picks up the light tube and goes to hit Mattson but Mattson kicks him in the stomach. Mattson picks the light tube up off the ground and slams it over Webb’s head.

Webb sits up with blood coming down his forehead from several cuts in his forehead. Webb seems to enjoy the sight of the blood and charges up clotheslining Mattson over the guardrail and into the crowd again. Webb grabs the table and takes it over the guardrail and sets it up next to the sparsely filled bleachers that are pulled out. Mattson recovers and nails Webb with a running clothesline. Mattson picks Webb up and drops him to the floor with a vertical suplex then sets him on the barbed wire wrapped table. Mattson climbs up the bleachers then jumps off with a legdrop onto Webb driving him into the barbed wire and breaking the table. Mattson rolls Webb off the barbed wire then covers him on the floor and gets a three count.

Winner: N8 Mattson (11:33)

Notes: *1/2

OA: 60 CR: 45 MQ: 76[color[blue]

Patterson: “Simply brutal. Webb brought out some of the tools of his style of wrestling and in the end he was the one that fell victim to them.”

Guppie: “Mattson is a smart wrestler and he used that to win this match. That legdrop off the bleachers had a lot of impact and it’s no wonder that Webb was out for three.”

Patterson: “Not to mention the lacerations from the light tube shot and the barbed wire in his back. We’ll take a break while they clean up the ringside area but when we come back we have a tag team title match as Youthanazia make their first title defense against the Havana Pitbulls.”

Guppie: “The Pitbulls seem to have the advantage because they have great technical skills, they can fly and they are stiff in the ring but M-Dogg and Josh Prohibition are pros in the ring and they can go with anybody and they aren’t going to want to lose those belts in their first defense.”

Segment 6: Youthanazia vs. Havana Pitbulls (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

M-Dogg and Romero start the match and they shake hands in the middle of the ring and Romero pulsl M-Dogg into a stiff clothesline. M-Dogg gets to his feet and Romero sends a blistering chop into his chest. Romero keeps up the assault and pounds away on M-Dogg with some stiff strikes then backs him into a corner and tags in Reyes. Reyes comes in and gets a couple of chops in then sends some snap kicks into M-Dogg’s midsection. Reyes then snapmares M-Dogg out of the corner and delivers a sharp kick to the spine. M-Dogg slowly gets to his feet and Reyes grabs him from behind and locks in an abdominal stretch. Reyes backs up and extends his hand back and Romero tags himself in. Romero bounces off the far ropes then charges and hits a running kick to the midsection. The Pitbulls continue to work on the midsection of M-Dogg as they isolate him and Prohibition tries to rally him from the outside. M-Dogg starts to fight back against another abdominal stretch this time applied by Romero. M-Dogg lands a couple of back elbows then flips Romero over with a hiptoss. M-Dogg slowly gets to his feet and goes to make the tag but Romero recovers and grabs him from behind and hits a german suplex. He bridges and gets a two count before Prohibition breaks the bridge with a slingshot senton splash. Prohibition gets pushed back to his corner as Reyes comes in behind the ref and claps his hand for the tag. Reyes pulls M-Dogg to his feet and M-Dogg clocks him with an enziguri. M-Dogg gets to his feet and dives tagging in Prohibition.

Prohibition comes in on fire and he takes Reyes down and then Romero. Prohibition sends both men to the outside with a pair of nice dropkicks then sends himself over the top rope with a plancha onto both Pitbulls. Prohibition gets to his feet and plays to the appreciative crowd but Reyes isn’t done and he grabs Prohibition and pulls him into the guardrails hard. The Pitbulls start stomping away on Prohibition until M-Dogg yells at them. They turn around and M-Dogg lands on them with a springboard shooting star press. M-Dogg rolls to the side clutching his midsection and Prohibition grabs Reyes and rolls him into the ring. Prohibition hits an exploder suplex and gets himself a two count. Prohibition continues to control the offense for a wile and M-Dogg recovers and the two start double teaming Reyes. Reyes fights out of the corner with some hard forearms then tags in Romero. Romero comes in and keeps the offense going with some wicked chops. Romero goes for another abdominal stretch on M-Dogg but Prohibition comes in and hits him with a superkick to stop the attempt. Prohibition pulls Romero to his feet and drops him with an exploder suplex then knocks Reyes off the apron and goes out to brawl with him. M-Dogg climbs up to the top rope then delivers a shooting star legdrop. He makes the cover and gets the three count.

Winner: Youthanazia (15:44)

Notes: **1/4

OA: 65 CR: 49 MQ: 82

Patterson: “An impressive first title defense for Youthanazia there. They took a beating but they kept on fighting and won the match.”

Guppie: “They were taking some stiff strikes but they didn’t fall down and they just kept looking for their chance to strike and when they found that chance they took it and won the match.”

Patterson: “Now it’s time for the main event. B-Boy defends the SMWA Championship against the man he beat for the championship Vito Thomaselli. This isn’t a normal match though it’s a thirty minute ironman match.”

Guppie: “This stipulation has come about because B-Boy has won two of their three confrontations with outside interference and here he isn’t going to be able to win with one lucky fall. He has to get more victories than Vito and that could be too tall of an order.”

Segment 7: The Punished

B-Boy walks down to the ring with the SMWA Championship hanging on his shoulder. He climbs onto the apron and takes his face mask off and throws it to the crowd. He enters the ring and takes the mic from the ring announcer.

B-Boy: “We’ve faced each other three times and I do admit that I haven’t won two of those matches in the fairest manner. I knew that Chance Beckett was going to attack you but that wasn’t because I needed the help it was because you had to be punished for what you did to him. You beat me one on one at the Midwest Invitational Tournament but only after Roderick Strong had put a hurting on my back. At the last show N8 Mattson helped me beat you but I didn’t ask for his help and I didn’t need it. Tonight if N8 Mattson interferes I’ll put his bitch ass in place then I’ll come back and finish you off. We’re going to wrestle for thirty minutes and I am going to be the man to come out on top in this match. You may not like how I won this belt, Vito. But it ain’t leavin’ my shoulder tonight or anytime soon. Take a good look ‘cause it’s the closest you’re going to get to this gold.”

OA: 48

Segment 8: B-Boy © vs. Vito Thomaselli (SMWA Championship, 30 minute ironman match)

The two men face off and they go slowly in the beginning. They go back and forth with some submissions as they try and wear each other down. They spend the first ten minutes going slowly with these submissions. They don’t focus on any bodyparts they just trade holds. B-Boy gets frustrated and notices the silence of the crowd and lights Vito up with a chop and the two men start trading strikes in the middle of the ring and B-Boy backs Vito into the corner then nails a couple of stiff forearms then bounces off the ropes and comes back with a big jumping knee to the side of Vito’s head that drops him down in the corner. B-Boy goes to the opposite corner and charges and goes for a dropkick but Vito moves and B-Boy hits his legs on the ringpost. Vito pulls B-Boy out of the corner and goes for a figure four but B-Boy kicks him off and sends him into the ropes and B-Boy rolls him up and gets a two count. Both men get to their feet and B-Boy rocks Vito with a forearm then drops him with a brainbuster that gets another two count. B-Boy’s offense is short lived though as he goes for another suplex and Vito delivers a kick to the knee and B-Boy’s knee gives out. Vito grabs the leg and goes into the anklelock and gets a quick submission. (15:45)

Patterson: “B-Boy tapped out quickly to save further damage to the leg and he is planning on making up the fall later.”

Guppie: “He’s going to have to act fast though because that leg isn’t going to get any better and Vito isn’t going to stop attacking it.”

After the 30 second break the two men face off in the ring and Vito goes after the leg but B-Boy clocks him with a forearm then unleashes a fury of strikes that backs Vito up. B-Boy goes to work on Vito lighting him up with chops and just delivering a beatdown to him. B-Boy gets Vito in the corner then knocks him down with some forearms. He goes to the opposite corner and hits Vito with a big dropkick that sends Vito to the outside. B-Boy slides out after him rubbing his right leg. B-Boy limps over to Vito and rocks him with a european uppercut then sends him face first into the guardrail. Vito gets up and B-Boy whips him into the ringpost. Vito crumbles down to the gym floor and B-Boy plays to the crowd mocking Vito. Vito pulls himself up and rolls into the ring and B-Boy slides in as well. Vito leans back in the corner and displays his cut forehead. B-Boy charges and hits him with a clothesline then climbs onto the second rope and rains down punches on the cut opening it up further. B-Boy drops down and a bloody Vito falls down behind him. Vito gets up on one knee and B-Boy charges and lands a shining wizard right to the head of Vito. B-Boy hooks the leg and gets a three count on Vito. (21:21)

Patterson: “B-Boy has evened things up in the match. B-Boy isn’t showing too much pain in the leg anymore but Vito is still bleeding from his forehead.”

Guppie: “And he still has eight minutes to go and that blood loss is going to hurt him in the match.”

Vito has some time to recover with the break and has wiped the blood out of his eyes but new blood starts to pour as the two men lock up in the middle of the ring. B-Boy delivers a couple of forehead shots to Vito then takes Vito over with an exploder suplex. B-Boy bridges it and gets another three count to take the lead 2 falls to 1. (22:16) The ref checks on Vito during the break and B-Boy gets confident in his corner. Vito slowly gets to his feet and the ref tells them to fight. B-Boy comes forward and goes for another exploder but Vito fights out of it with some elbows then rocks B-Boy with a rolling forearm. Vito shakes his arms in the air and yells then knocks B-Boy down with a lariat then grabs his legs and gets a figure four. B-Boy fights the pain in his leg. Vito continues to increase the pressure on the hold but B-Boy slowly scoots backwards until he is able to grab the bottom rope and the ref breaks the hold. Vito seems expended by his burst of offense and leans against the ropes as B-Boy uses them to get to his feet. Vito charges B-Boy but B-Boy ducks his attack and sends him out of the ring with a backbody drop then collapses to the ring. The ref starts counting Vito out and gets to a nine count before Vito rolls back into the ring. B-Boy drops an elbow to the back of Vito’s head as he comes in then covers him and gets a two count. B-Boy pulls Vito to his feet and goes for a brainbuster but Vito counters it and lands behind B-Boy then kicks his knee. Vito bounces off the ropes and hits B-Boy with a shining wizard of his own. Vito makes the cover and gets a two count before B-Boy gets a foot on the ropes. Vito pulls B-Boy into the middle of the ring then applies the figure four and right after he applies the hold the bell rings signaling the end of the match.

Vito breaks the hold and collapses down into a corner exhausted. B-Boy drags himself backwards into an opposite corner and the ref hands him the belt and raises his arm. Petey Williams, Austin Aries, The Pitbulls, Youthanazia and several other wrestlers come down to the ring and give the two competitors some water bottles and help the men to their feet. The two men face off in the middle of the ring and shake hands and Vito raises B-Boy’s arm in the air. Both men manage to make it backstage on their own as they get a standing ovation from the crowd.

Winner: B-Boy (30:00)

Notes: 1/2*

OA: 54 CR: 44 MQ: 65

Patterson: “What a display of sportsmanship. B-Boy proved tonight that he truly deserves to wear the SMWA Championship.”

Guppie: “He sure did. He and Vito went all out for thirty minutes and B-Boy came out with two falls to Vito’s one fall.”

Patterson: “What a way to end the show. Fans be sure to check out smwawrestling.com for information on upcoming shows and updates on your favorite wrestlers. For Brain Guppie, I’m Mike Patterson thanks for supporting the Southern Michigan Wrestling Alliance.”

The Second Anniversary Show Card

www.smwawrestling.com

March 29, 2006

We are approaching our second year of life as a wrestling company and we have lined up a show to match the accomplishment. April 17 the SMWA returns to the Detroit Masonic Lodge with six big matches.

B-Boy vs. Jimmy Rave (SMWA Championship)

B-Boy is coming off his successful title defense in the ironman match against Vito Thomaselli and he faces Jimmy Rave. Rave is new to the SMWA but not to the indy scene. His win over Aries as well as his past record has earned him this shot. These two men both use shining wizard variations as finishers and we’ll see who has the better one.

N8 Mattson vs. Vito Thomaselli (No Holds Barred)

These two men have a growing rivalry that has continued to escalate in intensity. These two are the winners of the first two Midwest Invitational Tournaments. Vito was the man that ended Mattson’s 14 month winning streak and took the SMWA Championship away from him. Mattson responded by interfering in Vito’s first title defense and costing him to lose the belt. Now they meet with no rules and only one man will be the winner.

Youthanazia vs. Special K (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

Special K get their rematch for the tag team gold as they face off against Youthanazia. These two teams are high-flyers and they will provide a spectacular crash.

Rocky Romero vs. Petey Williams

Ricky Reyes vs. Roderick Strong

Jimmy Jacobs vs. Austin Aries

Make sure you are there to check out all the action and celebrate two years of great action from the Southern Michigan Wrestling Alliance.

The show should be up Saturday

Second Year Awards

www.smwawrestling.com

April 17, 2005

It’s time to announce the winners of the categories as chosen by you fans.

Show of the Year

Special K/So-Cal Challenge

The huge six man tag and the end of N8 Mattson title reign by Vito Thomaselli have apparently made this show a favorite of the fans.

Tag Team of the Year

Special K (Angeldust & Deranged)

The first SMWA Tag Team Champions and they held the belt for eight months. It’s hard to argue with credentials like that.

Wrestler of the Year

“The Real” N8 Mattson

Like Special K his credentials are hard to argue with. He went over a year undefeated in singles competition and held the SMWA Title longer than anybody else with a seven month reign.

Match of the Year

Alex Shelley vs. Chance Beckett (2/3 Falls, SMWA Championship)

Not a surprising choice since it was chosen as the Michigan Independent Observer as the Match of the Year. Unfortunately neither man is with the company currently but we hope to see both men back sometime in the future and wish them good luck with what they are doing.”

Second Anniversary Show (Detroit)

April 17, 2006

Announcer: Mike Patterson

Color Commentator: Brian Guppie

Patterson: “This show marks the end of our second year of existence and the start of our third here in the SMWA and it’s been a great year and I can’t wait to see what we have in store for you fans this year. I’m Mike Patterson and joining me on commentary is Brian Guppie.”

Guppie: “It’s been great to call all of this action here and I assure you fans this coming year is going to be just as good and this show is going to be a great way to show that. In our main event B-Boy defends the SMWA Championship against Jimmy Rave. In our co-main event N8 Mattson faces Vito Thomaselli in a no holds barred grudge match.”

Patterson: “We have Youthanazia defending the SMWA Tag Team Championship against Special K, the team they beat to win the title. Rocky Romero will take on Petey Williams as well.”

Guppie: “Ricky Reyes takes on Roderick Strong and in our opening match Austin Aries takes on Jimmy Jacobs. Those two matches and the one Mike mentioned are all going to be important for those men as they have to show they are deserving for title shots and those matches are how they do it.”

Patterson: “A good point to make Brian. Those three matches are for a reason and that is to earn some respect.”

Segment 1: Revenge is Sweet

Vito Thomaselli walks out from backstage and to the ring as the crowd cheers him on. He slides into the ring then takes the mic from the ring announcer.

Vito: “Nate I don’t know what your problem with me is. We wrestled and I beat you fair and square in the ring. I pinned your shoulders to the mat for the three count and I won the SMWA Championship and ended your undefeated streak cleanly. Then you come out on the next show and interfere in my match and ruin my first title defense. That shit doesn’t fly with me buddy and I am going to show you that tonight in our match. I put Chance Beckett out of this federation and I’m going to do the same thing to you. This may not be your retirement match but I’m going to put you on the sidelines tonight and you aren’t going to want to mess with me again. You talk about the faith of your lord powering you but you I beat you. What does that make you think? Maybe your lord has lost his faith in you or maybe you in him. Maybe you just aren’t good enough? Maybe you never had any ‘righteous’ power in the first place? Maybe you were just on a roll and now it’s time to find out the truth that you aren’t the man you thought you were.Mark my words Nate. You messed with the wrong person and tonight you are going to have to pay. And this is revenge for me not punishment!”

OA: 59

Patterson: “Vito Thomaselli has some strong words for N8 Mattson when they meet later tonight. But right now it’s Jimmy Jacobs taking on Austin Aries.”

Guppie: “Jacobs has been in the SMWA since it started two years ago. His opponent, Aries, has only been here a couple of months but both men have lots of experience in independent federations across the country.”

Patterson: “These two have had some problems with each other recently as Jacobs teamed up with Petey Williams against Aries and Danny Daniels a couple of months ago.”

Segment 2: Jimmy Jacobs vs. Austin Aries

The two men lockup and Aries takes control with a side headlock. He flips Jacobs down to the mat then really cinches down on the hold. Jacobs manages to squirm out of the hold then grab Aries with a fujiwara armbar. The two men go back and forth with the holds on the mat. Aries eventually gets the side headlock on again Jacobs fights to his feet. Jacobs goes for a belly to back suplex but Aries flips over and lands on his feet and the two men face off and get applause from the crowd. Jacobs offers the handshake but Aries slaps it away then follows up with an enziguri to the side of Jacobs’ head. Aries takes control of the match and works Jacobs over with some nice mat based wrestling to wear him down. Jacobs gets a couple of short bursts of offense in the match and manages to catch Aries with a dropkick that rattles him but doesn’t stop Aries from taking Jacobs down to the mat and controlling him. Aries pulls Jacobs to his feet and goes for a brainbuster but Jacobs turns and lands behind Aries and drops him on his head with a backdrop driver. Aries gets to his feet dazed and Jacobs levels him with a big furry boot. Jacobs makes the cover and gets a two count before Aries grabs the ropes to break the cover. Jacobs pulls Aries to his feet and goes for the contra code but Aries counters it and hits Jacobs with a sitout powerslam for a two count.

Both men are slow to their feet and they face off and trade some strikes before Aries blocks a punch then takes Jacobs down with a swinging neckbreaker. Aries follows up by rolling Jacobs up and getting a two count. Aries holds Jacobs down on the mat then delivers a some hard knees to the midsection of Jacobs. Jacobs gets to his feet and Aries locks him in an abdominal stretch. Jacobs slowly makes his way to the ropes to break the hold. Aries releases his grip and Jacobs spins around and nails him with a big forearm. Jacobs grabs Aries and spikes him for a DDT. Jacobs climbs up to the top rope then comes off with a back senton but Aries rolls out of the way and Jacobs slams to the mat. Jacobs gets to his feet grabbing his back and Aries grabs him from behind and puts him into the abdominal stretch again. Jacobs fights against the hold but soon stops struggling. The ref checks and Jacobs’ hand drops twice before he manages to hold it up. Jacobs delivers some elbows to Aries leg then hiptosses him over. Aries turns in midair though and catches Jacobs and spikes him with a DDT. Aries climbs up to the top rope then hits a 450 splash to the injured midsection of Jacobs and gets a three count.

Winner: Austin Aries (13:22)

Notes: *1/2

OA: 61 CR: 46 MQ: 76

Patterson: “What a display of wrestling by Austin Aries there. He targeted the midsection of Jacobs and set up his finish.”

Guppie: “He’s a smart wrestler and we’re going to see some great things from him. Jacobs put up a nice fight but he was bested in this match.”

Patterson: “Up next Ricky Reyes takes on Roderick Strong. This match should be stiff with a capital s.”

Guppie: “No doubt about it. Both of these men can throw strikes like nobody’s business and Roderick has some brutal offense targeting the back. This should be a hell of a match.”

Segment 3: Ricky Reyes vs. Roderick Strong

The two men face off and when the bell rings they just start letting forerarms and chops fly as the two men try to cut each other down. Strong starts to take the advantage as his chops are starting to really tell on Reyes. Reyes sees that and pokes Strong in the eyes then takes him over with a headlock takedown. Reyes grinds on the hold but Strong fights it and gets to his feet then hits a backdrop driver to break Reyes’ grip. Reyes slowly gets to his feet and Strong levels him with a lariat. Strong pulls Reyes to his feet then takes him down with an STO across his knee. Strong holds onto Reyes and puts him in a muta lock stetching the neck and back. Reyes crawls forward and manages to grab the ropes and break the hold. Reyes gets to his feet checking his neck and back and Strong drops him with another lariat. Strong makes the cover and gets a two count. Strong pulls Reyes back to his feet and whips him into the ropes. Reyes comes off the ropes and hits Strong with a jumping knee to the face. Strong gets to his feet and Reyes hits him with an exploder. Reyes taunts the crowd then sends Strong back down to the mat with a forearm. The two men go back and forth trading brutal strikes and high impact maneuvers. Neither man gains an advantage until Strong goes to the back and hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker that pops the crowd.

Strong starts to control the match and works the back. He picks Reyes up for a powerbomb then brings him down on his knee. Strong works his leg out then covers Reyes and gets a two count. Strong continues to control the match and work the back of Reyes but it takes its toll on his knee that he uses to hit the back on many of the moves. Strong whips Reyes into the ropes and Reyes comes off with a dropkick to the knees of Strong. Reyes grabs the leg and gets a figure four. Strong fights the hold and almost gets pinned several times before he manages to slowly turn Reyes over and release the hold and Reyes is quick to release the hold. Strong gets to his feet checking his left knee while Reyes checks his back. Reyes charges with a clothesline but Strong catches him and drops him across his knee with an STO. Strong grabs his knee as he drags himself over to cover Reyes and gets a two count. Strong gets to his feet and pulls Reyes up but Reyes picks his left leg and rolls him over into an anklelock. Reyes kneels down as he applies the hold giving himself a solid base. Strong tries to crawl to the ropes but Reyes isn’t moving. Strong refuses to tap but Reyes really torques the leg and Strong finally taps out.

Winner: Ricky Reyes (11:41)

Notes: **

OA: 61 CR: 39 MQ: 83

Patterson: “What a contest between those two men! Roderick Strong worked the back but many of the moves apply a lot of pressure to his knee and Reyes saw that and took advantage.”

Guppie: “That match showed what’s so scary about both of those men. They aren’t just bruisers they know how to use submissions as well and Reyes really nailed that point home.”

Patterson: “Indeed he did. And now his partner gets a chance to showcase his skills as he takes on Petey Williams.”

Guppie: “Romero is another bruiser but he’s also a technical wrestler. Petey Williams is faster than Romero and can wrestle on the mat but we’ll see whether size or speed is the advantage here.”

Patterson: “I’m going to point out that neither man has a big advantage in either one of those areas though. Romero is stockier than Williams but he is shorter and Romero is known to go flying occasionally too.”

Segment 4: Rocky Romero vs. Petey Williams

Williams offers a handshake and Romero takes it then pulls Williams into a big clothesline. Romero controls the early portion of the match by trapping Williams in the corner and pummeling him with hard forearms and chops. Romero monkey flips Williams out of the corner but Williams lands on his feet. Romero charges with a clothesline but Williams ducks it and takes Romero down with a neckbreaker. Williams puts Romero into a rear chinlock but Romero spins out of it and gets Williams into a side headlock. Williams fights up to his feet and hits Romero with a backdrop driver. Williams makes the cover and gets a short two count. Romero gets to his feet and faces off with Williams and the two get applause from the crowd and Romero checks his neck. The two men face off and Williams goes behind with a rear waistlock but Romero nails him with a few back elbows then goes behind Williams and delivers a german suplex that sends Williams completely over and lands him face first on the mat. Romero gets on Williams and gets him in a camel clutch and throws some stiff crossface shots to Williams then really wrenches down on the hold. Williams kicks his feet around until he manages to get his right foot on the bottom rope and break the hold. Romero releases the hold and slams Williams down into the mat.

Romero backs up and lets Williams get to his feet then charges and takes him down with a forearm and Romero controls the match and works Williams over with some stiff shots and some nice submission wrestling. Williams fights back himself though and uses some nice technical wrestling to escape the submissions but he still falls victim to the stiff strikes from Romero. Williams manages to duck a forearm from Romero then hook him and drop him with a spinal shock and both men are down. The ref starts the ten count and both men get to their feet at eight. Romero tries to throw some strikes but Williams fends them off then nails him with a high dropkick. Williams climbs up to the top rope and jumps off with a blockbuster on Romero as he starts to get to his feet. Williams makes the cover and gets a two count before Romero gets his foot on the ropes. Williams gets to his feet then starts pulling the rope and Romero staggers towards him. Williams goes for the kick but Romero catches it and takes Williams down with a dragonscrew then goes right into a figure four but Williams is quick to crawl to the ropes and break the hold. Romero gets to his feet and Williams explodes with a sharp kick to his midsection then grabs him and spikes him with the flipping piledriver. Williams makes the cover and gets the three count on Romero.

Winner: Petey Williams (16:32)

Notes: *3/4

OA: 65 CR: 56 MQ: 75

Patterson: “Petey Williams has been on a roll recently here and he just got a nice victory over Rocky Romero there.”

Guppie: “Indeed he has. He was on the defensive for most of the match but when he did strike he went after the neck of Romero and that’s what allowed him to get the win because he kept working the neck and Romero was too weak to escape the flipping piledriver.”

Patterson: “To follow that match up we have Youthanazia defending the SMWA Tag Team Championship against the former champions, Special K.”

Guppie: “These guys went all out in the first match. I know Angeldust and Deranged want to get the titles back around their waists and they are going to be letting even more hang out on this match as they are willing to take risks to win. M-Dogg 20 and Josh Prohibition aren’t any different either. All four of these men will throw caution to the wind if they think that a move can get them a victory.”

Segment 5: Youthanazia © vs. Special K (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

M-Dogg and Angeldust start the match off and they face each other then go into a lockup and M-Dogg goes behind and picks Angeldust up then slams him face first down to the mat with a rear waistlock. M-Dogg spins on the back of Angeldust and gets him with a front facelock but Angeldust gets to his feet then hits M-Dogg with some forearms to the midsection to free himself then hits M-Dogg with a kick to the side of the head. M-Dogg gets to his feet and ducks another kick from Angeldust then hits him with a dropkick and flips over landing on his stomach. Angeldust scoots back on his ass and Deranged tags himself in. Deranged comes in from a springboard but M-Dogg hits him with a dropkick to the midsection. M-Dogg takes Deranged over with a snapmare and follows it up with a neckwhip and tags in Prohibition. He comes in and nails Deranged with a seated dropkick to the face. Prohibition makes the cover and gets a two count before Angeldust breaks up the cover. Prohibition takes Deranged back to his corner and he and M-Dogg control him and make frequent tags and get several near falls but Angeldust keeps saving his partner. Prohibition gets Deranged wrapped up with an octopus hold. Deranged starts landing some elbows to Prohibition’s leg then flips him over with a hiptoss variation. M-Dogg starts to come in and Deranged nails him with a kick and M-Dogg falls down to the outside. Deranged rolls forward and tags in Angeldust.

Angeldust comes in and clocks Prohibition with a leg lariat as he gets back to his feet. Angeldust picks Prohibition up and drops him with a death valley driver then makes the cover and gets a two count before M-Dogg dives in to break up the cover. Prohibition rolls out of the ring as M-Dogg takes a series of chops from Angeldust and he ends that with a dropkick that sends M-Dogg rolling out of the ring to join his partner Prohibition. Angeldust charges the ropes and goes over the top with a plancha onto both members of Youthanazia. All three of them start getting to their feet and Deranged walks to the ropes then jumps up and springboards to the outside with a shooting star press that draws loud cheers from the crowd. Angeldust is the first one to his feet and he rolls M-Dogg back into the ring and starts working him over with some kicks to the midsection then hits him with a snap suplex. Angeldust floats over and gets a two count. Deranged has recovered and gets back to his corner and Special K starts to work M-Dogg over like they did to Deranged earlier. Deranged hits M-Dogg with a backbreaker then Angeldust comes off with a legdrop that slams M-Dogg across Deranged’s knee again and slams his head into the ring. Deranged makes the cover and gets a two count before Prohibition pulls him off. Deranged gets in Prohibition’s face and Prohibition nails him with a forearm then follows up with an exploder suplex. M-Dogg starts crawling to his corner but Deranged tags in Angeldust and Angeldust grabs M-Dogg’s ankle and pulls him away from his corner.

Angeldust nails M-Dogg with some forearms but M-Dogg fights back with a flurry of forearms of his own and Angeldust staggers back. M-Dogg hits Deranged with a back elbow that sends him off the apron. M-Dogg ducks a clothesline from Angeldust then dives and tags in Prohibition. Prohibition comes in and sends Angeldust into the corner with an overhead belly to belly suplex. Deranged gets back onto the apron and Prohibition goes to hit him with a forearm but Deranged low bridges him and he falls to the outside. Angeldust distracts the ref as Deranged sends Prohibition into the ringpost then takes a chair from ringside and nails Prohibition in the head with it. Deranged rolls a bleeding Prohibition into the ring and Angeldust makes the cover for two. Angeldust pulls Prohibition to his feet and nails him with some punches to the forehead opening the cut then shoves him into the corner and taunts M-Dogg. M-Dogg tries to get into the ring but the ref holds him back. Deranged chokes Prohibition from the outside as Angeldust delivers some more punches to the cut on Prohibition’s head and the blood is starting to cover his face. Prohibition fights out of the corner with forearms to everybody and starts to make his way to his corner but Angeldust drops him from behind with a clothesline.

Angeldust starts taunting M-Dogg by holding Prohibition’s hand toward him. Prohibition uses that to his advantage as he kicks Angeldust in the nuts then rolls forward and tags in M-Dogg. M-Dogg springboards in and hits Angeldust with a dropkick. Deranged comes in and M-Dogg takes him over with an armdrag. Patterson: “What an amazing matchup we just saw! Those two teams put it all on the line and Youthanazia managed to retain the SMWA Tag Team Titles.”

Guppie: “Everybody was handed a beating in that match but M-Dogg 20 had the most time to recover and it allowed him to really capitalize when he got tagged in. He threw out some spectacular moves and they paid off for him.”

Patterson: “That’s the kind of action the SMWA Tag Team Division has been bringing the fans and it will continue to bring that kind of action. It’s time for the first half of our co-main event. We have N8 Mattson taking on Vito Thomaselli in a no holds barred match.”

Guppie: “We’ve been over the feud between these two several times and it was started when Vito cost Mattson the SMWA Championship. We heard Vito talk about the match earlier and we’ll have Mattson talk before the match starts. This is going to be a physically intense fight.”

Segment 6: Time for Punishment

N8 Mattson walks out accompanied by some gothic music and he stalks to the ring and slides in. He takes the mic from the ring announcer then shoves him back.

Mattson: “Vito Thomaselli came out here and talked some crap about me. It all boils down to the fact that he has to be punished. It’s my job to punish those who have upset the Lord and he has set Vito Thomaselli in front of me to be punished. Vito you took the title from me because I became obsessed with the title instead of punishing the guilty. I have sacrificed and repented and I have found myself the right path once again. Tonight we will tell a different story than last year. We will tell a story where I walk out the winner and you don’t walk out at all. Tonight no rules restrict us in this match. The only thing that we have to do is end the match in the ring and I don’t think that’s going to be a problem. Tonight blood will be shed and bodies will be bruised. Tonight I accept pain in order to deliver your punishment.”

Patterson: “Both of these men are very confident about this match but only one of them is going to be able to win and they are going to go any means to do that.”

Guppie: “This is the fourth match between these two men. Mattson won the first two matches that were around this time last year and Vito won the third match between these two where he became the SMWA Champion. These guys normally know how the other wrestles but when you add in the hardcore element it all goes out the window.”

Segment 7: N8 Mattson vs. Vito Thomaselli (No Holds Barred)

As Mattson drops the mic Vito charges to the ring before his music can start. He slides into the ring and gets to his feet and starts trading punches with Mattson as the two just go to town. The punches turn into forearms and then both men stagger back from the damage. Vito recovers first and gets Mattson with a double leg takedown then mounts him and starts raining down punches. Mattson bridges then spins over and he gets on top and starts raining down punches of his own. Vito copies Mattson and bridges out of the maneuver and Mattson goes through the ropes to the outside. Mattson gets to his feet and Vito launches himself over with a crossbody block and both men are down on the outside. Vito is the first one to his feet and he pulls Mattson up and whips him towards the guardrails but Mattson counters and Vito slams into the rails back first. Mattson charges at Vito but Vito sends him over the rails and into the crowd with a backbody drop and Mattson takes out several chairs. Vito goes into the crowd with Mattson and hits him with a few forearms then tells the crowd to move. Vito grabs Mattson and throws him into the chairs taking out several rows. Vito picks up a chair to the approval of the crowd and walks towards Mattson. Mattson grabs a chair himself and shoves it into Vito’s midsection doubling him over then slams the chair down over his back. The two men continue to brawl in the crowd and go back and forth before making their way back over the rails and near the ring.

Mattson swings a vicious chairshot but Vito ducks it and Mattson hits the ringpost and drops the chair. Vito grabs Mattson and spikes him with a DDT on the hard floor. Vito reaches under the ring and pulls out a table then slides it into the ring. He goes back under the ring and pulls out another table and he sets up on the outside. He rolls Mattson into the ring and picks him up for a belly to back suplex but Mattson hits him with some punches to the face then takes him down with a bulldog. Mattson sets the table up in one of the corners then goes to whip Vito into it but Vito puts on the breaks. Mattson charges at him and Vito sends him up and through the table with an overhead belly to belly suplex. Vito makes the cover and gets a two count. Vito continues to control the match and he hits Mattson with a lot of high impact moves but can’t put him away for the three count. Vito whips Mattson into the corner and nails him with a running forearm then sets him up on the top rope. Vito climbs up after him and nails him with a series of punches then goes for a superplex but Mattson blocks it. Mattson picks Vito up and slams him face first down to the mat. Mattson stands up on the top rope then delivers a legdrop to the back of Vito’s head. Mattson rolls Vito over and gets a two count.

Mattson controls the match and starts giving Vito some of the same offense he just took. Mattson takes Vito onto the apron by the table on the outside. He goes for a german suplex but Vito blocks it. Mattson delivers a couple of stiff forearms to the back of the head then reaches down and delivers a german suplex off the apron and through the table and the crowd starts a holy shit chant. Mattson slowly starts to stir then rolls Vito into the ring. Mattson drapes himself over Vito and gets a two count and the crowd loves it. Mattson can’t believe the count then rolls to the outside and takes a chair from the crowd. He slides back into the ring and clocks Vito over the head as he gets to a knee and dents the chair. Mattson covers Vito and gets another near fall. Mattson argues with the ref and Vito starts to recover. Mattson turns around and Vito kicks him in the midsection then piledrives him on the chair and both men are down. The ref starts a ten count and Vito rolls over at 8 to cover Mattson and gets a two count of his own. Vito pulls Mattson to his feet and picks him up with a fireman’s carry then drops him with a death valley driver. Vito holds onto the leg and cradles Mattson for the three count.

Patterson: “What a fight between those two men! They used tables and chairs and neither man wanted to give up.”

Guppie: “They just beat the life out of each other and Vito managed to get the bigger impact moves at the end although Mattson hit some pretty good maneuvers too.”

Patterson: “As soon as they clean up the ring we’ll have our second main event where B-Boy defends the SMWA Championship against Jimmy Rave.”

Guppie: “Rave is going to be a test for B-Boy. Rave has a lot of arm holds and he has a devastating shining wizard variation. B-Boy also has a nice shining wizard and he’s probably the stiffest hitter in the SMWA.”

Segment 8: B-Boy © vs. Jimmy Rave (SMWA Championship)

The two men face off in the middle of the ring and lockup. They go through a mat wrestling sequence and go back and forth but Rave continues to work on the arm while doing it and ends the sequence with a hammerlock on B-Boy. B-Boy gets to his feet and jumps up and snapmares Rave over but Rave holds onto the arm and B-Boy flips over as well still in the hold but he manages to get a foot on the rope to break up the hold. B-Boy gets to his feet and shakes his arm out. They go for another lockup but B-Boy just clocks Rave in the side of the head with a forearm then lets loose a flurry of forearms that stagger Rave. B-Boy follows that up with an overhead belly to belly suplex then makes a cover for a short two count. B-Boy pulls Rave to his feet and hits him with a brutal backdrop driver. B-Boy continues to dominate the early portions of the match with hard hitting offense and he gets several near falls on Rave early. Rave starts to turn things around when he blocks a clothesline then grabs the left arm of B-Boy and drops him with a divorce court then goes right into a fujiwara armbar. B-Boy kicks his feet against the mat in pain. B-Boy slowly moves sideways and grabs the ropes to break the hold. Rave just lays on the mat as B-Boy drags himself to his feet using the ropes and massages his left arm.

B-Boy picks Rave up and Rave drops him with another divorce court and B-Boy rolls out of the ring holding his left arm. Rave gets onto the apron and as B-Boy turns around Rave runs the apron then jumps off with a knee to the face of B-Boy that drops him hard. Rave picks B-Boy up and uses the guardrail to attack the left arm of B-Boy. Unfortunately for Rave B-Boy uses his right hand to slap him upside the face then deliver a step up enziguri. B-Boy pulls Rave to his feet and slams him face first into the guardrails then rolls him into the ring. B-Boy bounces off the ropes and delivers a knee to the face of Rave then makes a cover and gets a two count. B-Boy lets Rave get to his feet then goes for the cross special brainbuster. B-Boy lifts Rave up but Rave spins around and lands behind B-Boy then grabs his left arm with a hammerlock then runs him into the ringpost. Rave grabs B-Boy and rolls him up for a two count of his own. Rave grabs B-Boy’s left arm on the kickout and goes into a cross armbreaker but B-Boy clutches his hands together to block the move. Rave brings his leg down on the chest of B-Boy and breaks his grip and extends the arm. B-Boy yells in pain but is able to grab the ropes with his right arm. Rave backs up and as B-Boy gets to a sitting position he goes for the running knee but B-Boy flattens out to avoid it. Rave turns around and B-Boy trips him with a drop toe hold. B-Boy gets on his back and plasters him with some right arm crossface shots. The ref pulls B-Boy off and Rave slumps to the mat.

B-Boy tries to shake his left arm out and as Rave gets to one knee he charges and hits a shining wizard. He makes the cover but Rave gets a foot on the ropes to break the cover. He pulls Rave to his feet and shoves him into the corner then rocks him with forearms and chops that drop Rave to a seated position. B-Boy backs up then delivers a running dropkick that nails Rave right in the face. B-Boy pulls Rave out of the corner and makes the cover for a two count. B-Boy pulls Rave up again then picks him up and drops him with the cross special brainbuster. B-Boy makes the cover and gets a three count.

Patterson: “What a match! They provided quite the contrast of styles. Rave used finesse to work on the left arm of B-Boy and B-Boy just ran all over him with hard strikes and neckwork.”

Guppie: “Both men came close to winning but B-Boy refused to tap out and he just knocked Rave out long enough to get a three count and retain the title.”

Patterson: “This has been a great way to end our second year and start our third. On behalf of Brain Guppie and the SMWA I’d like to thank all the fans that have made this happen and promise that we’ll continue to bring you great action like this all the time.”
