I'll try to get 20 on this list, but I don't know if I'll be able to. I think I can get close, but I'm going to sort of put this in order of my favorites.

1. Beastie Boys (though I like their punk better, and since everybody else listed them, I'll list them. Check out their album "Some Old Bullshit", it's pure fucking NY Hardcore, straight from CBGB. It's such an amazing contrast to what they eventually became, though you could see the gradual switch as their albums wore on.)
