Yeah, to say that I've never found the range of titles in which Shounen Jump specifies especially appealing would be an understatement.

It's a sad fact. Girls' manga > boys' manga, because the plot in boys' manga usually revolves around the level of "I AM A BRAT WHO WANTS TO BE THE BEST AT SOMETHING (pokemon training/being a ninja/baking bread/etc.), or equivilent.

yes, there is to much plot and to few minny skirts for the average manga dork that likes flat stuff dragonball z and yu-gi-oh, or enjoys chin chan.

Coming from someone who effectively rejects all other manga aside from this one, and saying the above to me, despising manga like Dragonball Z and Yu-Gi-Oh as I do, you'll forgive me if I don't take your opinion to heart. Or even that seriously.

To add to an earlier post.

I'd read Girls' Manga more if I didn't have to get through super-gay guys being in there for fanservice. Because really, Girls' Manga is leaps and bounds better in terms of plot. I prefer the ones that aim for both genders the most however, little fanservice and usually a more entertaining plot.

God, yes. Dinstinction has to be made between your typical manga which just happens to be aimed at girls (like the genius that is Fruits Basket), and shounen-ai where the whole thing tends to be just shallow fan service (something that the current anime 'Ouran High School Host Club' mocks brilliantly with its portrayal of fangirls). I tolerate certain levels of fan service because I understand that these series use it to sell themselves and their merchandise to the worryingly horny masses, but beyond a certain point it just becomes sad. Imagine the kind of trash a series with a dozen buxom wenches that all fancy each other with be. That's what the majority of shounen-ai tends to be...only with guys.

In a way, it's the same kind of scale you get with guys' manga. There is the stuff that anyone can enjoy, both male and female, and then there's the semi-pornographic idiocy that naturally girls loathe. The same can be applied in reverse to girls' manga. I suppose you could just say that this middle ground aims at everybody, but that just makes it more confusing. :shifty:
