EWBs Favourite Song : Nomination Thread

Recommended Posts

So in similar fashion to Jook running EWBs Favourite Band, and ROC running EWBs Hottest Women, I've decided to take it upon myself to give you EWBs Favourite Song, first come the Nominations, them comes the Voting, then comes the top 50 (or maybe 100), depending on how many Nominations we get.

So I want you to nominate no more than five songs (and no less than one) that you believe are the greatest songs ever recorded, from any era, any country and musical artist you choose. I'm hoping that this could lead to a shortlist of around 250-300, when we reach 300 I'll stop (because otherwise they'll be too much to deal with). You can vote for the same band more than once, and try not to duplicate nominations, so check to see if the song you want is already taken or not.

From there I'll start the shortlist voting process, where you will choose 15 of the songs in the shortlist, 10 of these will be your top 10 from the shortlist with the following point system:

1 = 12 points

2 = 10 points

3 = 8 points

4 = 7 points

5 = 6 points

6 = 5 points

7 = 4 points

8 = 3 points

9 = 2 points

10 = 1 point

The other five will be a negative vote; so.

1 = negative 3 points

2 = negative 2 points

3 = negative 1 point

4 = negative 1 point

5 = negative 1 point

I'm sure that all makes simple sense, but that's for later. For now, just your 5 nominations for EWBs Favourite Song.

And without further ado; my nominations:

Mars Volta - "Cassandra Geminni"

Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Freebird"

Led Zeppelin - "When the Levee Breaks"

Marvin Gaye - "I Heard it Through the Grapevine"

The Beatles - "Hey Jude"

So; Nominate away! I'll keep nominations open until we get 300 Songs in the shortlist, which is (if everyone votes the maximum 5 songs) sixty people nominating. If nominations just cease and we get no more people voting after about 200 songs, then I'll close it then, but I'd much prefer if we got the full 300 songs.

If this gets enough steam I'm sure Benji won't mind if we open a discussion thread to save it all getting too crowded. ^_^

Edit: Last minute edit of my songs.

CHRIST...this is difficult. I'll add another later...I don't want to repeat bands...but all the choices I have thus far to make up the 5 don't seem quite fitting...hmmm...I'll edit it in later.
