Alternate Versions of songs

I've been getting addicted to some of alternate/live versions of songs from bands such as Death Cab For Cutie recently. Such as the acoustic version of "Lightness", the original version of "Title & Registration", the live "Blacking Out The Friction" (John Byrd EP) and of course "Stability" (I am not a fan of "Stable Song" because it bores me...yet for some reason I enjoy the original, more drawn out, 12 minute version...which technically should be more boring...but seems more haunting). I also had some great acoustic Alkaline Trio songs, which due to the death of my computer I don't have anymore. And can't get them anymore. :(

So I'm wondering. Who else does alternate/acoustic versions of songs. What would you recommend and where can I find the Alk3 acoustic stuff again? :shifty:

Skindred make a point to play songs different live. The UK re-release of the album also has an acoustic CD.

Trivium have been doing acoustic bits recently.

Beastie Boys have hundreds of different versions of songs. The Root Down EP has three versions of Root Down. Sabotage Single has a remix of Get It Together. The Remote Control single has a remix of Putting Shame In Your Game. The Triple Trouble singles have different versions of the song. The Sure Shot single has four versions different from the original. The Body Movin single has a Fat Boy Slim remix. Jimmy James single has two remixes. The Gratitude EP has a remix of Finger Lickin Good, one of the Ch-Check It Out singles has the Just Blaze remix. One of the Open Letter To NYC has a remix.

And those are just the ones I own, I'm sure there's more.

I have about 10 acoustic versions of Coheed and Cambria songs.

I have 6 versions of Favour House, ableit only one being acoustic but still I find it amusing.

Gimme.

Album

Sonic Sessions

Acoustic

99X Live X (Radio I guess)

Live at the Starland Ballroom

Live at Troubadour

You must at least have the first 3.

Getting back to the subject, i'm quite taken with Thrice's acoustic stuff.

If i'm being pedantic then technically it's not the same as the CD given their tendancy to change the lyrics.

I should mention The Crowing v2 is my favourite Co&Ca alternate.

Limewire doesn't have any alternate versions for Brandan Benson which i'm displeased at. I want some some Yellowcard for the songs on Lights And Sounds.

Looking for one version of "Henrietta" by The Fratellis, I found an even better one that's one of those that pretends to be live, it sounds fucking good.

I had 2/3 versions of that (Mostly due to the first two I getting being live versions), now I've got none :(. Brilliant song. I adore The Fratelli's.

I normally don't count live versions as alternate versions unless they're different to what's on album (Or if they're released on a live album). I had a handful of DCFC live stuff (Fan recorded) mostly due to it generally being heavier than the album stuff (Though I'd kill for their cover of "Thriller"...even if it's not any good, the idea of it makes me excited).

And for any of you that care I got my Alk3 stuff again. With the deluxe Crimson disk. This is where I ask "Why the hell did they remove the piano riff from 'My Neck'?". I've always found that song boring, but the demo version is immense...purely for the fact it has a sexy piano riff. Yet they took it out and slightly slowed the song (I think? It seems a lot less exciting on the final record anyway...I think I'll toss the demo version into the album...wont fit, but still :shifty:)

I tired to figure it out myself, I guess there's less changes than I thought:

"Are you in, are you out? For them all to know our victory song...

Soooo.......

Run quick, they're behind us didn't think we'd ever make it this close to safety in one piece

You want to kill me, now I can sense you're angry

Let's......friends......

Nice try liar, now I'll shoot, you run"

And then there's the part:

"The words you brought it up before...."

And I can't get anything after that.

Thats what I can hear.

Also i'm going to go back on my Crowing v2 comment, I forgot about Cuts Marked In The March Of Men. That rocks harder.
