Julia Roberts gives birth to twins

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- It's a girl -- and a boy -- for actress Julia Roberts and her husband, cinematographer Danny Moder.

Roberts gave birth to twins Hazel Patricia Moder and Phinnaeus Walter Moder on Sunday morning at a Southern California hospital, said publicist Marcy Engelman.

Roberts, 37, was confined to bed last month after experiencing early contractions and wasn't due until early January. Engelman said Sunday in a phone interview that "mother and babies are doing great," but didn't release the twins' weights or other details.

Roberts, who skyrocketed to fame in the film Pretty Woman in 1990, has two films coming out in early December -- Mike Nichols' Closer and Ocean's Twelve, the Steven Soderbergh-directed sequel to 2001's star-studded heist caper.

Roberts married Moder in July 2002 at her home in Taos, N.M. The twins are the first children for Roberts, who won the best actress Oscar in 2001 for Erin Brockovich.

"Lord of the Rings star Liv Tyler has named her baby Milo - like one of the Tweenies.

It is not clear if she and British husband Royston Langdon are fans of the purple children's television character.

The 27-year-old actress, daughter of the Aerosmith frontman and model Bebe Buell, gave birth in New York 11 days ago.

Liv is married to Royston Langdon of the glam rock band Spacehog. The two tied the knot in March 2003.

Milo, meaning Merciful, is understood to have inherited "full lips" from her Aerosmith rocker granddad Steve Tyler.

The Tweenies' Milo dreams of being a rock star. So perhaps little Milo may live up to his name.

Or maybe his parents are just hoping their child will sleep through the night with a belly-full of milk - Milo's also a nice chocolatey drink similar to Ovaltine.

Tyler played the elf princess Arwen in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Her screen credits also include Jersey Girl and Armageddon."
