I find it odd that DiCaprio is nominated for Blood Diamond and not the Departed, that's strange. Don't get me wrong, he was awesome in both, but probably better in the Departed. Also good to see Ryan Gosling and Jackie Earle Haley nominated, they were both great. And its nice to see Little Miss Sunshine get a nod too. Apart from that, nothing too shocking.

If Little Miss Sunshine and Pan's Labyrinth don't rape the oscars I'll be pissed off. Seriously for no film came close to those two last year. An Inconvienient Truth best win too - Al Gore is awesome. Also; if United 93 or Black Dahlia win their respective categories I won't take the Oscars seriously ever again. Ever. I also hope Will Smith picks up Best Actor. I'm yet to see Pursuit of Happiness, but damned if I don't love him to bits.

Not at all, it's just Dahlia was the drizzling shits. It deserves nothing. At all. In fact, any film that denies plot for 20 minutes just for lesbian porn that is a) too graphic and b) pretty irrelevant should be cut from general viewing entirely. I've got nothing against lesbo porn, some days i'm all for it; but in a crime 'thriller' (i say that in inverted commas; because the only thing that thrilled me was the end. And i don't mean the climax; i mean when it ended) i don't want it.

I'm drawing on a pretty vague memory of the film, but I don't remember the burlesque sequences you're referring to being that long or, for that matter, particularly graphic. Certainly not as graphic as some of the depictions of violence in the film. I actually thought it was decent, but the award has nothing to do with the creative issues; technically it looked beautiful and that's why it's nominated in cinematography.

It was a good looking film, I'll admit that - but that means nothing to me. If it wins i'm comitting mari-kari.

And the lesbian scene just seemed to be so out of place, it was relevant to the plot; but the way they did it was just horrendous. I remember sitting there with my friends, that coming up and us just being insanely confused. There was just no place for it.

Not surprising mind, it's not like the rest of it was any better.

It was good. One of those really nice look war movies with cool cinematography. Not great, but a really nice-looking movie with some very good moments.

Im sorry but this list means nothing without the Prestige nominated for Best Movie of the year with Nolan as Best Director. This is just fucking outrageous. I guess i will just have to root for Little Miss Sunshine <3

There's a lot of good films though, The Departed, Babel. There all fine. But Iwo Jima could of easily been replaced with The Prestige, i swear.

The only thing I care about is Scorcese winning Best Director finally. Which probably won't happen, but I'm going to watch for it anyway. Keep dangling that carrot, Oscars.
