Okay, so I'm getting into a lot of old stuff. The 'classics.' Songs like Wish You Were Here, Wonderful Tonight, Brown Eyed Girl, Another Brick In The Wall and Hotel California have been on my playlist a lot lately, so, gimme more stuff in the same vein as that to listen to.

I'm not sure what kind of time period you're looking for (or if you're looking for one at all) but these are some I'd say you need to get.

'Layla' by Eric Clapton

'I Want You To Want Me' by Cheap Trick

'Surrender' by Cheap Trick

'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' by George Harrison

'American Girl' by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers

A lot of stuff from The Beatles is pretty much essential if you don't have it already: 'Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band', 'Help', 'Yesterday', 'Hey Jude', 'A Hard Day's Night', 'Strawberry Fields Forever' etc. etc. etc.

Likewise with The Who: 'Pinball Wizard', 'Who Are You', 'My Generation', 'Substitute', 'Baba O'Riley', 'I Can't Explain', 'Behind Blue Eyes', 'Won't Get Fooled Again' and the list goes on.

Anything from The Police (especially 'Every Breath You Take', 'Message In A Bottle' and 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic') or The Stone Roses ('Waterfall', 'Fools Gold', 'Sally Cinnamon') is also a good thing to get as they're constantly excellent.

The Charlatans also go back quite a bit now - 'NYC', 'The Only One I Know', 'Crashin In' and 'Road To Paradise'

Paul Weller is also someone you'll want to look into, especially his stuff with The Jam like 'Town Called Malice', 'That's Entertainment' and 'Start!' but his Style Council stuff is pretty good too ('You're The Best Thing' = greatness) but it's a completely different direction to The Jam era.

The Undertones have some good stuff too - 'Teenage Kicks', 'Here Comes The Summer',

The Eagles as well, you've already got their most famous song but look at 'Take It Easy', 'The Long Run', 'The Last Resort', 'Desperado' and 'In The City' for starters

That should get you started :)

As ADGray mentioned The Stone Roses, who I'd have recommended, I'd also say check out some Primal Scream, songs such as 'Rock's and 'Movin' On Up'. There are more worth looking at, but check these two out first.

Also, New Order's 'True Faith' and 'Blue Monday' are good for 'classics' of the 80's.
