I know the majority of you aren't into Power Metal but Michele Luppi (the singer in the video) deserves more recognition. Why did the guys from Vision Divine replace him with that Rhapsody guy? Yes, they'll probably get more attention as Fabio Lione and I know that he is the original Vision Divine singer and that he and the guitarist have history together (they both played in another Italian band named Labyrinth in the 90s) but IMO Luppi is the better singer. Lione is WAY to overdramatic for my taste and when he tries to sound gruff it is almost comical. It amazes me that Angra choose him as their new singer.

I haven't heard the new one, but I own a copy of Chapters from a Vale Forlorn, and it's a great record. Originally it was the lead singer that caught my attention. Such a unique baritone voice for this kind of music (European power metal is 99% tenors), but he still packs a punch and makes the band stand out.

Just got tickets to Knotfest this weekend. Fucking stoked to see DevilDriver, Cannibal Corpse and Testament. Looks like a killer show. 8 hour drive is worth it.

Knotfest this weekend was an insanely awesome time. Cannibal Corpse, Devil Driver and Napalm Death killed it. Slipknot was pretty awesome too. Overall a great time and worth the 16 hours of driving it took to get there!

Apparently Wayne Static died today. That really blows. Static X was one of my favorite bands through high school.

I read somewhere that the talk of OD wasn't true, and that he just died in his sleep. Not sure, either way, it's too bad. I dated a girl in High School that was a huge fan, and by chance they were playing a venue in Massachusetts near the hotel she was staying at. Anyway, she wasn't there, but her mom and brother noticed the tour bus with Static-X, and her mom recognized Wayne because of his wild hair. So she actually approached the bus, told Wayne her daughter was a huge fan, and he was cool, let her take a picture and such to show her daughter.

I wasn't a huge fan, but did have opportunity to see them at Ozzfest in 06 or 07 maybe? It was in Michigan at Pine Knobb (or DTE as they call it now) at a really bad Ozzfest show (tickets were free). They were actually excellent live, not my kind of music, but they had great energy and put on an excellent show.

Both Marduk and Napalm Death are releasing new albums on the 19th and 26th, respectively. Anyone else as hyped as me?

Both new tracks, Wartheland from Marduk and Cesspits from Napalm Death, sound awesome.
