I like this. It has a somewhat ROH feel, but diffirent enough so it doesn't become a carbon copy. Things look good and I think the Natural Born Sinners will get the gold.

Project: Honor presents... The Tag Team Tournament

Saturday October 2, 2004

From the Fat Cats Nightclub in New Port Richey, Florida

Attendance: 279

First Round Match

The Briscoe Brothers def. GenNext

-The Briscoe Brothers picked up a hard fought win in this excellent opening bout with a Jay Briscoe Cannonball Legdrop to Jack Evans, after the Cut-Throat Driver from Mark.

34, 89, 61% - ** ½

First Round Match

Da Hit Squad def. The Carnage Crew

-The Carnage Crew almost put an end to the second run of Da Hit Squad when they scored with the Carnage Plex on Mack, but Maff wouldn’t allow it to end like that, and scored the pinfall with a Death Valley Driver to Loc, onto Devito’s back while he had Monsta Mack pinned. Maff and Mack got booed by the crowd again, but a little less this time around.

39, 82, 60% - **

First Round Match

The Havana Pitbulls w/ Julius Smokes def. Red Storm

-Smokes came out before the match and tossed t-shirts into the crowd, who cheered for it, until Smokes revealed that he was tossing out old MLW Fuego Guerrero shirts. The Amazing Red didn’t take kindly to the gesture, and had a word with Smokes, but the Pitbulls jumpstarted the match by attacking he and partner Quiet Storm from behind. The finish came about twelve minutes into the bout, with the Pitbulls hitting the Cuban Execution II (Romero applies the Romero Special, and Reyes dives off the top rope with a Kneedrop) on The Amazing Red, but Quiet Storm took advantage of Reyes’ momentum, and caught him with a Cradle Piledriver, but Storm was too late, as Romero had already pinned Red.

48, 87, 67% - ** ¾

First Round Match

The Natural Born Sinners def. Michael Shane and David Babylon

-Continuing the string of great first round matches, this bout saw Homicide almost lose it as he was forced to watch Shane and Babylon double team his partner. The Notorious 187 broke into the ring eventually and absolutely destroyed both men, that is, until the referee forced him back to the ring apron. Babylon and Shane set up for a Double Superkick, but Boogalou ducked it, and then Clotheslined Shane over the top, which allowed him to catch Babylon with a running Shining Wizard for the three count.

45, 81, 63% - **

Six Man Tag Team Match

Dunn, Marcos and Jerrelle Clark(W) def. Justice, Rod Steel(L) and Mikey Tenderfoot

-Justice absolutely destroyed the Ring Crew Express, hitting Dunn with the Asai DDT, and taking out Marcos with a 450 Splash. But in the end, it came down to Clark Vs the Untouchables, with Jerrelle nailing both men with the 630 and pinning Steel while Justice beat down the RCE outside the ring.

26, 73, 49% - ¾

Semi Final Match

Briscoe Brothers def. Da Hit Squad

-Da Hit Squad’s run at the Tag Team Titles was put to an abrupt halt, as the Briscoe Brothers defeated them in the semi-finals of the tournament. The end of the match saw Mack accidentally catch Maff with the Clothesline From Compton, which led to the Briscoes using AMW’s Death Sentence on Mack for the win.

44, 86, 65% - ** ½

Semi Final Match

The Havana Pitbulls w/ Julius Smokes def. The Natural Born Sinners

-Homicide and Boogalou lost, again, to the Pitbulls. This time, however, the Sinners managed to work together very well, with Homicide even catching a very close two count with an Ace Crusher on Romero. The pin came when Ricky Reyes rolled up Boogalou with a School Boy for the three count.

44, 85, 64% - ** ½

Four Corners Chaos Match

Alex Shelley def. Donovan Morgan(L), Scoot Andrews w/ Prince Nana and AJ Styles

-This match was easily the best Four Corners Chaos bout that we’ve had so far in Project: Honor. The end of the bout saw AJ Styles hit the Styles Clash on Andrews, but as he went for the pin, Donovan Morgan tapped out on the other side of the ring, to the Border City Stretch from Alex Shelley. After the match, Shelley pointed at Styles before leaving.

61, 87, 74% - ***

Decision Match for the Tag Team Championships

The Havana Pitbulls w/ Julius Smokes def. The Briscoe Brothers

-The Tag Team Titles were decided in another great tournament match-up, as the Pitbulls defeated the Briscoe Brothers to crown themselves as the first Tag Team Champions. The finish of the match saw Romero take the Doomsday Device from the Briscoes, and then Mark fall victim to a Taz-Plex from Ricky Reyes for the pinfall. After the match, Julius Smokes brought the titles into the ring and handed them to the Pitbulls, who celebrated for about five minutes. The Briscoes shook their hands, and we had our first ever Tag Team Champions.

44, 90, 67% - ***

Singles Grudge Match – Main Event

Christopher Daniels def. Low Ki

-Amazing match, which saw Daniels kick out of the Ki Krusher, and Low Ki kick out of the Last Rites. Both men fought their way up to the top rope, where Low Ki set up for the Ki Krusher, but Daniels blocked it, and came off the top rope with an Avalanche-Style Angels Wings! The Fallen Angel crawled on top of his opponent and scored the victory, but the celebration was short lived, as Julius Smokes lead the Havana Pitbulls down the aisle. The Tag Team Champions worked over Christopher Daniels as Smokes helped Low Ki up, and the Champs held Daniels in position, as Ki knocked him out with a brutal kick to the temple. The trio posed in the ring with Smokes as the show came to a close.

78, 100, 89% - **** ¾

DVD Extras

-Michael Shane talks about how David Babylon lost him the match against the Natural Born Sinners, but says that it’s okay, because even the best lose sometimes. Shane goes on to ramble about how Triple H has lost to many people, but continues to be the best in the business, before finishing up by mentioning his tag team match against Spanky and a mystery partner on October 30 in St. Petersburg.

-Da Hit Squad are shown in a hallway. Dan Maff is holding his jaw from the Clothesline From Compton. Monsta Mack apologized to Maff, but Maff told him it was an honest mistake. Maff said that they had a good run as a team, and then wished Mack luck, and shook his hand before leaving with a duffel bag.

-Alex Shelley and GenNext (Aries and Evans) are changed and with their bags when the camera finds them. Shelley stopped and told the other two to go on without him. Alex Shelley then spoke about how he and GenNext are here to stay, and they have no problem taking people out to keep those spots. Shelley then went on to challenge AJ Styles to a match. He said anytime, anywhere.

Project: Honor NEWSWIRE

-Scoot Andrews and Prince Nana, collectively known as The Syndicate, refused comment backstage at The Tag Team Tournament show in New Port Richey, but Nana called officials after a few days, and demanded that a match be signed between “The Black Nature Boy”, and the man who almost pinned him, AJ Styles, and that bout has been made official for November 13 in our Pinellas Park debut at the Pinellas Expo Center.

-The first match has also been signed for 11/27 in Harborview, as The Rottweillers of Low Ki and the Havana Pitbulls, have been challenged to a Six Man Tag Team Match by “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels. No word as of yet on who will be teaming with Daniels.

-Julius Smokes has accepted a challenge on behalf of his Havana Pitbulls. The challenge has the Pitbulls facing the Natural Born Sinners, but the Tag Team Titles will not be on the line in this bout, which is set to take place on 10/30 in St. Petersburg.

-The first contenders to the Tag Team Titles will be decided on 10/16 in Clearwater, when the Briscoe Brothers take on the debuting tandem of Petey Williams and Bobby Roode. Whoever wins this match will face the Havana Pitbulls for the titles on 12/11 in St. Petersburg.

-Joey Matthews has been in contact with officials over the past few days, begging for a sanctioned match with whoever it is he has called out, but his requests have been denied, and the two men will have to settle their differences before the show officially gets under way.

-Officials have taken note of the hostility shown by Alex Shelley toward AJ Styles at The Tag Team Tournament, and have contacted Styles about a possible match-up in the near future. When more information is available, you’ll hear about it here first.

-Another Project: Honor Dream Match has been signed, as “The Black Nature Boy” Scoot Andrews will go one on one with a man that many consider to be the best technical wrestler in the world, “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson on October 30!

-Both men will be out to prove their worth to officials in this Dream Match-Up. With a heavily rumored tournament for a Heavyweight Title coming up, both men will be pushing for a potential spot, and can settle for nothing less than a win here.

Briscoe Brothers Vs Williams & Roode

-The first contenders to the Tag Team Championships will be decided on 10/16, but with the Havana Pitbulls booked for the near future, the winners of this bout will have to wait until 12/11 in St. Petersburg to get their chance at the belts.

Joey Matthews

-Matthews’ challenge has been answered by his yet un-named foe, and the two men will face off prior to bell-time. Project: HONOR has refused to sanction this confrontation, and anything that happens will be on the hands of Joey Matthews and his rival.

Project: HONOR runs into it's first roadblock...

-The bookers in Project: HONOR had huge plans for a feud between The Amazing Red and his cousins, the Spanish Announce Team, but a backstage problem with Jose Maximo has put an end to those plans.

Less than a week away from the upcoming Project: HONOR event, Jose Maximo spoke out about not having been invited to be involved in the Tag Team Tournament. Jose was heard yelling about how he and his brother (Joel Maximo) should have been in the tournament, and also was upset about not being booked for the upcoming show.

Project: HONOR bookers gave Jose the option of cutting an interview with his brother at the show, to prolong their feud with Red, but declined and walked out in a huff.

When officials contacted Joel Maximo about the situation with his brother, Joel simply thanked them for their time, and has apparently left the promotion with his brother, but on much better terms.

There has been no official word from The Amazing Red as to his stance on the situation, but Joel Maximo was quoted as saying, "He's like a really good little brother. He follows us everywhere, even when he's better off without us."

From the Harborview Center in Clearwater, Florida

Attendance: 280

Confrontation

-Joey Matthews came out at 5:50, just ten minutes before bell-time, and called out his mystery opponent, who turned out to be none other than Low Ki. Matthews talked about how he’s defeated guys like Styles, Daniels and Lynn, and then said that Low Ki has yet to feel the wrath of Joey Matthews. Low Ki attacked Matthews and completely brutalized him for several minutes, until the Rottweillers of Julius Smokes and Rocky Romero ran out to stop him from doing any more damage to the young star.

62%

Singles Match

David Babylon def. Kid Romeo

-Babylon picked up his first singles win in a very hard fought bout against the debuting Kid Romeo, who almost connected with the Last Kiss, which would have, no doubt, ended the bout, but Babylon managed to block the move, and connect with a Russian Legsweep into a unique looking pinning combination for the three count.

41, 85, 63% - ** ¼

Open Challenge

-The Havana Pitbulls made their way out to the ring and demanded that officials send a referee and two opponents out from the back. The ref came out immediately, and after a brief pause, the first of the opponents came out, as Lex Lovett walked down the aisle in a t-shirt and jeans. Lovett pulled his shirt up over his head and slid into the ring, but the ref would not allow the match to start without Lovett having a partner, and so Lex got on the mic and asked for someone to come down...but what he got was unexpected, as Dory Funk, Jr made his way out from the back. Lovett had a smile on his face, but Funk said that he would not be wrestling there, but instead, he was there to introduce Lovett’s partner, a student of Funk’s... Adam Windsor.

55%

Impromptu Tag Team Match

The Havana Pitbulls def. Lex Lovett and Adam Windsor

-The Pitbulls made short work of their opponents on this night, as neither man had come prepared for the fight. Rocky Romero forced Windsor to tap out to the Romero Special II for the win.

Four Corners Chaos Match

Jerrelle Clark def. Jonny Storm, Spanky and Mikey Batts(L)

-Another fantastic four way match-up in Project: HONOR, this time with one of the underdogs coming out on top. Most fans expected Spanky or Jonny Storm to walk away with the W in this match, but Jerrelle Clark surprised almost everybody in attendance when he connected with a bridged German Suplex on Batts, who also German Suplexed Storm, who had Spanky set up for a regular Suplex.

Singles Match

Justice def. Nate Webb

-Webb made his debut with Project: HONOR in this match up against the odd-ball known as Justice, but could not pick up the win no matter how hard he tried. Webb even tried for the Fang, but Justice moved out of the way, and then connected with a running Flipping Neckbreaker for the win.

Singles Match

CW Anderson def. Danny Doring

-Doring had the match won with the Bareback, but the referee was distracted by The Syndicate of Prince Nana and Scoot Andrews, as they drew his attention away from the pin. Doring got up and yelled at them, but only got a two count returning to the pin. Doring then set up for a Double Ax Handle Smash, but Anderson turned it into an Inverted Atomic Drop, and then delivered a devastating Spinebuster to pick up the three count. Anderson left with the Syndicate post-match.

#1 Contenders Tag Team Match

The Briscoe Brothers def. Williams & Roode

-The Briscoe Brothers downed the debuting tandem of Petey Williams and Bobby Roode with a double Yakuza Kick to Roode, one after the other. 37, 83, 60% - **

Main Event – Dream Match

Jerry Lynn def. Doug Williams

-The British star came in full force, but could not put away the veteran Jerry Lynn. Williams picked up a Holy Shit chant from the crowd, as he ran up the turnbuckle, and sent Lynn flying backwards with a huge German Suplex off the top rope. Lynn managed to kick out just before three, and won the match with a roll-up out of a Chaos Theory attempt. The two men shook hands post-match, and Doug Williams helped Jerry Lynn to the back.

-Petey Williams gives the Briscoes credit for defeating he and Bobby Roode, but then says that they’ll be coming back on November 13, and that they’ve got redemption on their minds.

-Prince Nana talks about Scoot Andrews and how he should be given the Heavyweight Title, and then introduces us to the newest member of The Syndicate...”The Enforcer” CW Anderson.

Project: HONOR Newswire

-We found out who Joey Matthews had called out, and Matthews was destroyed by that man. The assault by Low Ki left Matthews concussed and in the hospital over night. Matthews refused comment, but Low Ki said, “You call me out, and I’ll **** you up.”

-Michael Shane and David Babylon are still in the dark about who Spanky will be bringing with him on October 30, but are confident that they’ll be able to continue their dominance over Spanky in Project: HONOR. One thing that Spanky has revealed, is that Michael Shane will be familiar with his partner.

-The Briscoe Brothers have earned the first shots at the Tag Team Championships, and they will get that shot on 12/11 at the Florida WrestlePlex in St. Petersburg.

-With his partner, The Amazing Red, gone from Project: HONOR, Quiet Storm has been left as just another name on an impressive roster of talents. On 10/30, Storm will compete in a Four Corners Chaos match-up against Mark Briscoe, Austin Aries of GenNext, and the in-ring leader of the Rottweillers, Low Ki. This will be Storm’s chance to prove his worth as a singles competitor to the officials.

-Dory Funk Jr was a nice surprise at the 10/16 show, and the debuts of both Lex Lovett and Adam Windsor went over very well, with Lovett scheduled to return at the 10/30 show.

-After having problems with the group from the 9/18 show, Danny Doring has decided that enough is enough, and the Dastardly One has issued a challenge to either member of The Syndicate to face him in the ring on 11/27 in our return to Clearwater.

-Dan Maff and Monsta Mack, both members of the now defunct tag team Da Hit Squad will be in singles action on 10/30.

-AJ Styles has contacted Project: HONOR and accepted a singles bout between himself and Alex Shelley, with the date of the bout being set as December 11 in St. Petersburg. When contacted, Alex Shelley was quoted as saying, “Good... this just means that I can run Styles out of here before I take the Heavyweight Title.”

-Just signed for 11/13 is a singles match that will preview the first ever Tag Team Titles match, as Jay Briscoe will go one on one with Ricky Reyes of the Havana Pitbulls.

The Rundown: October 30

Michael Shane and David Babylon Vs Spanky and x

-Spanky's coming into this tag team match-up with the advantage of having his opponents be unaware of who his partner will be. The only thing that we know, is that Michael Shane will be "very familiar" with Spanky's partner. What that means is anyone's guess, but we know that the feud won't end here. Both men will be looking for a win here, and both men will be looking to hurt their rival.

Natural Born Sinners Vs Havana Pitbulls

-The Havana Pitbulls are the reigning PHW Tag Team Champions, but the belts will not be on the line in this match-up. The Sinners challenged the Pitbulls to this bout, and will be looking to redeem themselves from recent losses to the Champions. The Pitbulls are scheduled to team with Low Ki against Chris Daniels and two partners on November 27, and then they defend the Titles against the Briscoes on 12/11. If the Sinners can pick up a win in this match, you can bet that they'll be next in line for a Tag Team Title shot after 12/11.

Quiet Storm Vs Mark Briscoe Vs Austin Aries Vs Low Ki

-Quiet Storm's partner left him high and dry, and Storm is now out to prove that he belongs in Project: HONOR. But to do this, he'll have to go through Mark Briscoe, Austin Aries of GenNext, but most importantly, Storm will have to go through Low Ki, a man that has been on a vicious streak over the past couple of months. A win in this match could solidify Storm's spot on the roster, but it could also shoot one of these men into contention for the upcoming PHW Heavyweight Title.

...and MORE!

Singles Match

Lex Lovett def. Monsta Mack

-Lovett made his return to Project: HONOR, this time ready for a war, as he took on one half of the now defunct tag team, Da Hit Squad. The end of the bout came when Lovett narrowly avoided the Clothesline From Compton, and then rolled Mack up in a School Boy for the three count.

35, 65, 49% - ½

Tag Team Grudge Match

The Havana Pitbulls w/ Julius Smokes def. The Natural Born Sinners

-Homicide and Boogalou maintained control over the Tag Team Champions for the majority of the match, but a mistake by Homicide allowed Ricky Reyes to apply an Armbar to the Notorious 187. Homicide barely managed to escape it, and tagged in Boogalou, who came in on fire, but was soon stopped by a huge pumping knee strike from Romero. Boogalou tagged ‘Cide back in, and Homicide went to work on Romero. Homicide called for the end, and connected with an enormous Lariat, but hurt his arm in the process, which allowed Ricky Reyes to tag himself in, work the arm a bit, and force the submission with a Cross Armbreaker. After the match, Boogalou chased off the Pitbulls, but was attacked from behind by Smokes with a chair.

43, 85, 64% - ** ½

Singles Match

Mikey Tenderfoot def. Rod Steel

-“The Miami Pound Machine” could not put away the former referee, and Tenderfoot picked up the win with a Moonsault Press onto a standing Rod Steel. After the match, Steel looked confused as to what happened, and argued with the referee before heading to the back.

27, 70, 48% - ½

The Fallen Angel

-Christopher Daniels made his way out to the ring, surprising the St. Petersburg fans with his appearance, and grabbed a microphone.

“I know that you’re all dying to see Low Ki in action, so I’ll make this short and sweet... Rottweillers, on November 27, you will go head to head with The Fallen Angel...no more talking from the J-Train...no more cheap shots from Low Ki...just six guys, beating the living hell out of each other... I’m not going to keep you guessing, because I want you to be scared, Rottweillers. I want to smell the fear as you sweat! My first partner, Low Ki...is a man that you’re all to familiar with. A man that you betrayed not two months ago... and it’s time for his vengeance. Bryan Danielson will join me in my battle against your contingency... and as for my other partner... I’ve delved into the darkest parts of man’s soul... I have taken a journey to the depths of Hell, just to find this man...

...and with that, the curtain opened and revealed James Mitchell, who walked down the aisle, and stood in the ring, face to face with Christopher Daniels.

“Christopher Daniels, we consider it an honor for such a being as yourself to request our services...and we do as the master commands. In all my years in the wrestling business, I have not encountered another being with the potential to be as evil as the man I bring forth to you. Not in all my years have I ever feared a man that I have led. On November 27, we’ll take Low Ki and the Rottweillers on a one way trip to Hell!... courtesy of this man...this...Abyss!

...Mitchell dropped the microphone, stroked his goatee, and left laughing, with Christopher Daniels walking behind him, face twisted in a menacing smile.

Four Corners Chaos Match

Quiet Storm def. Low Ki, Mark Briscoe(L) and Austin Aries

-Storm surprised by pulling out the win against an impressive group of four. Aries was taken out by the Ki Krusher, and then Low Ki nailed Briscoe with a huge Kick to the head, but Storm crumpled Low Ki with a Fisherman’s Buster, and then hit the Storm Cradle Driver on Mark Briscoe to pick up the win. During the match, Low Ki was distracted by the presence of James Mitchell, who reappeared in the crowd.

47, 77, 62% - * ¾

Singles Match

Dan Maff def. Sedrick Strong

-Maff made short work of Sedrick, absolutely decimating him with heavy blows, followed by a running flip Senton splash into the turnbuckle, and finishing with the Burning Hammer for the victory. Maff was visibly pissed off and intense.

27, 68, 47% - ½

Tag Team Grudge Match

Shane & Babylon def. Spanky and Fast Eddie

-Neither Shane nor Babylon could score the pin on Spanky, so they dumped him to the outside and double-teamed on Fast Eddie. Eddie hit a Moonsault Fallaway Slam on Babylon, but Michael Shane connected with the Picture Perfect Elbowdrop to the back of his head to break up the pinfall, and allow Babylon to roll over and score the three count while Spanky was down and hurt on the floor. After the match, medics came out to check on Spanky’s knee, but he eventually left on his own accord.

45, 77, 61% - * ¾

Singles Dream Match

Bryan Danielson def. Scoot Andrews w/ Prince Nana

-Nana used every trick in the book, but Andrews could not hold the advantage after capitalizing on Nana’s distractions. Eventually, the referee forced Nana to the back, which allowed for a straight one on one confrontation, where Andrews tried for the Figure Four, but Danielson rolled him up in a Small Package, and then rolled into the Cattle Mutilation, wrenching on the arms of Scoot, and forcing the tap out victory to end the night with a great match-up.

59, 97, 78% - *** ¾

DVD Extras

-The Natural Born Sinners argue between themselves, and Homicide almost hits Boogalou, but he stops himself, and then regains his composure, and yells into the camera that he’s had enough of the Pitbulls, and that the Natural Born Sinners would have been able to dispatch of them when they were together before. Homicide then demanded a rematch, on January 1st, in a No Holds Barred match-up. Boogalou laughed, and told Homicide that they were going to kill the Pitbulls.

-Spanky is shown getting his knee taped up before he leaves the building. He sees the camera, looks into it, and tells Michael Shane that he got the best of him tonight, but that he wants a rematch, November 27...and that on November 27, Shane won’t be lucky enough to have Spanky get hurt during the match.

-Prince Nana complains about being sent backstage, and blames the referee for Scoot’s loss against Danielson, but then moves on, accepting Danny Doring’s challenge for a singles match on November 27 against any member of The Syndicate...but Nana says that Doring will have to wait until November 13 in Pinellas Park, to find out who he’ll be facing on the 27th.
