Rock Against Bush Vol 2 track listing

Both these CD's suck. Let's not Rock Against Bush, let's Rock Against Politics. I always thought punk was supposed to be anti-government, not anti-president.

I don't see what makes you an authority on what is and isn't punk.

Generally, people consider punk to be most rock that conveys a social / political message in its lyrics. The idea that all punk is 'anti-government', or anarchistic is a myth born out of the characature age of the Sex Pistols.

But then, I'm sure your real agenda was to show that despite being young, you're a conservative, and very wacky and whatnot, or whatever.

I dig three bands on this album: Sugarcult, Flogging Molly and Foo Fighters. I've never thought of any of them as being remotely political. At least Volume 1 had Pennywise. Think I'll avoid this one.

I thought punk bands have always been into politics?

Foo Fighters and Green Day only bands I've heard of on here...

That's because they're on the radio... I don't see how you couldn't have heard of No Doubt.. and Dropkick Murphys/Flogging Molly is the shit

Sugarcult, Yellowcard, and Rancid are mildly popular bands too, i think Operation Ivy might have been a little popular in the 80s

I think it's because I hate Punk Rock.. And about the radio remark.. that's true.. I wouldn't of heard of them if not for that...

Definatly better than the first, and I will definatly pick it up, mainly because of its piss low price, and its much better selection of bands. Just one gripe though : What a shitty cover, I mean they could have put a bigger effort into it rather than just change the background colour from green to orange.

And I really hate Yellowcard. I do. I saw them a few months back supporting Less Than Jake, and aside from their backflipping violinist, they sucked so much. I mean what a great way to evole pop punk! Lets just add a violin!

Oh, and :D at the Lawrence Arms title making fun of Coheed And Cambria.

EDIT: On the subject of left wing punk, you want to see the biggest oxymoron in the history of man? Convservative Punk. A website dedicated the exposing the EVIL DISGUSTING SOCIALIST LIES THE RED HEADED COMMIES AT PUNKVOTER SPREAD ONTO THE UNSUSPECTING YOUTH, and the MONOPOLY THE LIBERAL MEDIA HAS OVER AMERICA, SPREADING THEIR EVIL LEFT WING IDEALS ONTO THE PUBLIC.

Plus theirs some Moore bashing, some BS about finding WMDs and some idiots on the forums who now hate the Beastie Boys because they said they were anti-Bush.

Nazi Punk was pretty prevalant around the time of the eighties hardcore movement. These people weren't neccesarily political fascists, but normally wrote racist / homophobic / misoganist songs.

For example, Angry Samoans, Dead Boys and Agnostic Front. First two bands are very good, AF are shitty, and just wrote the same song over and over again.

You've admitted your not a fan of punk, and yet, you apparently expected this album to be some spectacular piece of work that you'd love and now you seem to be shocked that it wasn't.

Yeah that's reason enough for everyone not to buy it

Plus, like the last one, it comes with a DVD that has music videos, six political shorts and comedy pieces from Will Ferrell, Greg Proops, Patton Oswald and more

Oh yeah, and order online and its $8

The first was good, IMO. It had such great bands as:

None More Black

Alkaline Trio

Epoxies

The Get Up Kids

Ministry

The Descendents

Jello Biafra w/ D.O.A

Social Distortion

I never knew of Expoxies, The Get Up Kids, The Descendents or Social Distortion before I bought Volume One, so I'll probably pick up Volume Two to check out some bands I've never heard of before.

And the DVD was great. I liked the comedy bit with...damnit, I forgot his name. But still. The rest was meh. I didn't like the Political Pieces, and the Music Videos didn't have anything I was interested in.

Meh, i'll give it a miss. The only two bands that I really like on the list are Bad Religion and No Doubt. They are others that I like, for example Hot Water Music, No Use for a Name, Dropkick Murphy's and Flogging Molly.

The last Rock Against Bush only produced 2 good songs IMO, Warbrain (Alkaline Trio) and No Voice of Mine (Strung Out). Looking at the track listings to that, there seemed to be better bands on it, like Rise Against, Midtown, Less Than Jake (New stuff's horrible though) and Pennywise etc, but only 2 good, new songs came from it.

Need More Time* (Epoxies)

Nothing To Do When You're Locked In A Vacancy (None More Black)

Lion & The Lamb* (Get Up Kids)

No W (Ministry)

Sad State Of Affairs* (Decendents)

That's Progress (DOA)

Warbrain* (Alkaline Trio)

The best songs off of Vol. 1, IMO.

* = The Very BEST
