Marshall Knox Injured

The scheduled tag match between The Urban Outlaws and Seth Shai and Icarus was put in jeopardy yesterday, as Marshall Knox, one half of the Urban Outlaws, was injured. At this time, all that is known is that the injury will keep him out of Double Cross Wrestling's debut event, Texas Two Step.

Changes to the match have already been made, as Mike Knox will now face 'The Outlaw' Leon Scott in one on one action.

The Debut of Double Cross Wrestling

'Sweet' Stan Lane and Steve Jackson stand in the ring and welcome the in house fans to the debut of Double Cross Wrestling. Lane puts over the heels, but says that no one on the card could beat him in his heyday, or, for that matter, now. Jackson runs down the card, highlighting the Texas State Heavyweight Championship Tournament, and putting over the fact that 8 of the biggest names to ever grace a wrestling ring are in the house tonight.

The two retreat to the barside announce table, as Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy by Big and Rich hits, bringing out Mike Knox, who is accompanied by his brother, and tag team partner Marshall Knox, who is in street clothes, with his arm in a sling.

The Urban Outlaws slap some hands on their way to the ring, and Mike climbs into the ring. He climbs up onto the turnbuckle and lifts up the 'hook 'em horns/rock on' hand sign to the crowd, before stepping down and removing his cowboy hat and vest. He tosses them to Marshall, who catches them with one hand.

As the Urban Outlaw's theme winds down, Pantera's Cowboys From Hell kicks up. The little known 'Outlaw' Leon Scott enters, the substitute opponent for Knox. Scott stands in the upper six foot range, and carries a chain with him, although this is not a weapon or no DQ match. Scott acts like he's going to interact with the fans, but pulls back at the last moment, before mocking them.

Scott slides into the ring, and gets up in Knox's face, before turning and tossing his chain to the corner, where it slides out of the ring. As he turns back to face Knox, he throws a punch, but Knox ducks it and runs off the ropes as the bell is rung.

Mike Knox w/ Marshall Knox vs. Leon Scott

On the rebound off the ropes, Knox nails Scott with a clothesline, taking him down. He lays in a few stomps, then lifts Scott up, but as he does, he gets nailed with a forearm, allowing Scott to hit a sloppy, but effective, swinging neckbreaker, for an early two count. Knox gets the shoulder up, and Scott argues with the ref.

Knox rises, and spins Scott around, whipping him to the far ropes, and catching him with a mediocre spinebuster on the way back. Knox goes for a cover, but barely gets a one count. Both men back to their feet, and Scott sends Knox to the ropes, then follows up, clotheslining him to the outside. Scott follows to the floor, and the two trade punches, before Scott eats the steel post, and gets rolled back into the ring.

Knox goes for a cover in the ring, and gets two, before lifting Scott up again. He puts him in position to put him away with a Reverse Fisherman's Buster, but Scott struggles back to his feet, and backdrops his way out of it. Whip to the corner, and a charging knee puts Knox on dream street, allowing Scott to go to the body, and finally the head with punches in bunches. Knox slumps to the floor, and Scott taunts him then backs up to charge with the knee once again, but Knox evades, and Scott goes knee first into the turnbuckle.

Knox takes advantage with a bad back suplex, nearly dropping Scott on his head, and then heads up top, but misses the elbow drop. Scott takes the moment, whipping Knox towards the ropes, and charges him with a boot attempt, but Knox dodges, and Scott ends up tangled up in the ropes. Mike Knox dumps him to the outside, then heads out once again himself.

On the outside Knox looks to have the upperhand, but a surreptious low blow changes that. Scott takes the Urban Outlaw out with a clothesline, then takes time to taunt Marshall as well, before slamming Mike into the guardrail. Some right hands tattoo Knox's head, before he's back inside, and locked up for an Inverted Russian Leg Sweep. Knox is able to elbow his way out though, and a Ace crusher variant gets two, before Scott grabs the bottom rope.

Knox pulls Scott up once again, and this time pays for it as he gets shoved back into the referee! With the ref down, Scott looks to take advantage, as he heads outside for his chain, sliding back into the ring and sizing up Knox for the shot. Mike is saved from a head ringing however, as Marshall trips up Scott, and alerts Mike, allowing him to set him up for the Reverse Fisherman's Buster once again, this time hitting it as Marshall wakes the ref, for the three count.

Winner: Mike Knox via Reverse Fisherman's Buster

Scott rolls out of the ring as Marshall Knox carefully climbs inside. On the outside Scott is complaining to the ref, who is also walking to the back, about the interference by Marshall, albeit to stop Scott from using the chain, though he dosen't say that.

Back in the ring, the Urban Outlaws get on the mic, briefly, and claim that when Marshall returns from his injury, they will set back on their original goal, to become the tag team in 2XW. They thank the fans for supporting them, and the company, and tell them that next month, they'll have a special 'suprise' for the fans. Sounds interesting, if they weren't so dry on the mic. The then salute the fans, and leave to the back.

A moment passes before the Richard Cheese lounge cover of Disturbed's Down With the Sickness begins to play, causing the crowd to wonder just who was coming out. As the announcement is made that it is time for the No Disqualification, No Countout, Falls Count Anywhere Match, 'Sick' Scott Vick. At the moment Vick seems quiet and subdued, and even cordial to the fans, but on commentary Lane and Jackson put over the fact that he's known to snap in the ring, and then he's a handful for anyman.

Vick climbs into the ring, and pays no heed to the crowd, rather, sitting in the corner and staying to himself. As he sits Fanfare for the Common Man by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer begins to play, as the Mad Man from the Sudan himself Abdullah the Butcher. Abby slowly walks the aisle, holding his trademark fork high, and looking like the crazy old man that he is. He slowly climbs into the ring, and Vick takes the opportunity to get in an early shot in this No DQ match by rushing him, knocking him off the apron, then yelling at the ref to 'ring the fucking bell!'.

Scott Vick vs. Abdullah the Butcher

No Disqualification, No Count Out, Falls Count Anywhere

Vick continues his assault, sliding out of the ring, and taking the fight to Abby. Vick pounds the veteran with clubbing forearms, then pulls him up to throw him until the guardrail. This turns out to be a mistake however, as Abby uses his mass to stop the momentum, and instead, tosses Vick into the guardrail. With the moment of calm, he picks up his fork, and tucks it in his tights.

Abby waddles over to Vick, and lifts him up, dropping 'Sick' chest first across the guardrail, then dumping him over into the crowd. He follows, slowly, which allows Vick to mount some offense, and pull the Butcher over the guardrail, into the fans laps. Scott Vick goes to the weapons first, utilizing a chair to keep Abby down, then, after a series of shots, laying it on his head and stomping it. He then turns to the crowd, and lifts his hands up gladitor style, before turning back, to have his leg caught by Abby, and be brought to the ground.

With both men down, Abby crawls over, and tattoos Vick's heads with rights, before using his opponent to stand up. That can't feel good. Abby kicks Vick in the ribs, then heads towards the bar of the club, forcing Vick to follow.

Vick does so, and gets met with a face full of liquid as he does, and stumbles, allowing Abby to nail him with a forearm, and drive his head into the bar, repeatedly. This is followed by a beer bottle broken over his head, and then, the moment you've all been waiting for... THE FORK!

Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork, Fork.

That was the best way to describe it, as Abby used Vick like Thanksgiving dinner, and went back for seconds. With blood now streaming down his face, Vick stumbled away from the Butcher, feeling his head and looking at the blood on his hands, screaming unintelligbly. He turns to Abby, and charges him, knocking him back into the bar! Throwing wild lefts and rights like a madman, Vick is able to turn the tide with his wildman offense, but is unable to knock the Sudanese Butcher off his feet. Abby returns fire with some punches, and soon Vick's blood is on both men, and the crowd is loving it as a 'Abby, Abby' chant starts up in a small portion of the crowd.

Abby takes firm control of the match with a karate thrust to Vick's throat, which looks like it could have collapsed the larynx if the Butcher wanted it too. With Vick sufficently incapacitated, Abby grabbed a bottle of Southern Comfort off the bar. Let me tell you folks, alcohol and open wounds don't mix, but at least Scott dosen't have to worry about infection now. With the bottle emptied onto Vick's forehead, Abby smashes it over his head, dropping the 'Sick' one to the floor, and following up with the Sudanese Elbow Drop for the three count, and the victory.

Winner: Abdullah the Butcher via Sudanese Elbow Drop

After the match, EMTs came out to check on Vick, due to possibly extensive loss of blood. Upon being helped up, Vick refused medical attention, going as far as to push the EMTs away, and go to the back under his own power, muttering to himself as he did. Fans commented afterwards that they heard him say 'We are not pleased'.

Abby, however, stayed around for a few minutes more, playing with the fans, and even getting some pictures taking, feigning driving his fork into fans heads. Stan Lane called this 'revolting and unproffesional', but Jackson put it over as 2XW doing 'anything for the fans'. Abby finally left, but not before a brief 'Butcher' chant.

The unique beats of Outkast fill the Blue Light as The Whole World begins to play, and the unlikely team of Koko B. Ware, complete with Frankie, and Chilly Willy make their entrance. Jackson makes note of Chilly's military service on commentary, which gets him a nice pop from the decidely pro US crowd.

The pair stop at the end of the aisle, and look at each other, before slapping hands, and climbing inside. Once inside, both pose on the turnbuckles. Koko begins to do the familiar 'Birdman Flap', and Chilly joins in when he sees it. They then step down, and Koko hands Frankie off to a ringside attendant.

George Thorogood's Bad to the Bone begins to play, the familiar sound swelling up from the bar's speaker system, as the leather clad team of 'Bulldozer' Brian Lee and Payne enter, refereed to as the Boozefighters on commentary, a reference to an old time biker gang.

Much like Leon Scott before, Payne carries with him a chain, which he wraps and unwraps around his fist, before tossing it to the ring attendant. Lee goes out of his way to 'punk' the attendant holding Frankie, and motions as if he's going to do something to the bird, however, he stops short. The two bigger men climb into the ring, and introductions are finished. For once, we get a clean start.

Koko B. Ware and Chilly Willy vs. The Booze Fighters

Koko and Payne start it off, and the Birdman is dominated by the more powerful Payne. A gutwrench backbreaker puts Koko down for two, but Chilly makes the save, prompting Payne to bounce up and take it to him. Koko pulls Payne back around, but catches a boot to the gut for his trouble, and Lee tags in.

Lee steamrolls a rising Koko, and takes time to jaw at Chilly, who's standing on the apron, desperately trying to make a tag that ain't gonna happen. Lee flips off Chilly, then kicks Koko in the gut lifting him up for a powerbomb. However, Koko slips out, and faces plants Lee in an X-Factor style move, and we get the SEMI LUKE WARM TAG~!™.

Chilly comes in a house of smore style camp fire, bowling over Lee, and knocking Payne off the apron, before going toughman style on Lee with punches, a whip, and the butt butt, which is good for a two count. Lee brawls back after the kickout, scoring with a backbreaker, then nearly dropping Chilly on his head with a botched sidewalk slam. How the hell you botch a sidewalk slam is beyond me. The face in peril thing is already tired, so Chilly fires back with some stiff blows, rocking Lee, and knocking him back, allowing for a clothesline by Chilly, and a tag.

Koko hits the ring with a missle dropkick, getting two on Lee, who then powers him off his chest, and angrily clotheslines him to the mat. Koko gets worked over with lefts and rights, and 'Bulldozer' tosses him like a rag doll into the corner, before charging, and eating turnbuckle as Koko dodges! Back on the offensive, Koko lets off some rights, staggering Lee, and goes into the Birdman Flap, before going for a discus clothesline, that gets cut off when Lee gets him by the throat!!!! PrimeTime Slam is countered by a well timed kick very... low, as Joey Styles would say, and both men tag out.

Chilly and Payne rush the middle of the ring, and Payne wins that one, as he runs over Chilly with a shoulder, and bounces off the ropes, sending a knee into the rising former ECW star's head! Payne then starts to work, putting his knee into Chilly's back, and wrenching his neck in directions it ain't supposed to go, mocking Koko as he does. He asks Koko if he wants to see more, then drives a fist right between Chilly's eyes, before rushing the corner and sending Koko to the concrete!

Koko tries to rush the ring, but is cut off by the ref, which allows for a double team on Chilly, as Payne holds him up for a Brian Lee big boot. The bikers then beat down on Chilly, until the ref turns around, just as Lee is back on the apron.

Payne continues the beatdown on Chilly, working over the neck with rudimentary wrenches and strikes, and taunting Koko. Finally, Payne acts as if he's going to let Chilly tag Koko, which he tries desperately to do, then knocks Koko off the apron with a forearm, laughing at Chilly. The former toughman tries to fight back against Payne, who shrugs it off and laughs at him, before pulling him in for the Payne is Forever Powerbomb, and the three count!

Winner(s): The Booze Fighters via Payne is Forever Powerbomb

Lee and Payne celebrated a bit in the ring, and Koko looked like he was going to charge them and try to get some revenge, but decided better of it. Instead, he just pulled Chilly Willy out of the ring, and helped him to the back.

As he did so, Brian Lee got on the STICK~! He claimed that this was just the beginning, and that The Booze Fighters were here to be the most dominant tag team not just in Double Cross Wrestling, or in Texas, but in the world. They challenged any two men in the state of Texas next month to come out and try their luck. Lee then ran down the crowd, saying that he wasn't going to stay in Amarillo any longer then he had to to pick up a paycheck, before tossing the mic, and leaving.

Real Solution #9 by White Zombie begins to play, and the tattoo'd Saturn makes his entrance, slapping a few hands, and does the old Eliminator's hopping over the ropes ring entrance. Saturn appears to be all business, but looks happy to be back in the ring.

Saturn paced the ring, and tugged on the ropes, as Hank William Jr.'s Long Haired Country Boy began to play. 'The Widowmaker' Barry Windham walks out for the first of out Texas State Heavyweight Championship Tournament matches. That was a mouthful. Windham takes the crowds jeering as praise, basking in it, and the small 'Windham' chant started by a group of decidely pro Texas native fans. Windham slides into the ring, and jaws at Saturn, before turning his back to remove his vest.

Saturn vs Barry Windham

Texas State Heavyweight Championship Tournament, Round One

Turning his back dosen't cost Windham in the traditional way, as Saturn dosen't attack him when his back is turned, but as soon as Windham faces Saturn again, he's in his face, and Windham's taken over with a traditional suplex, which Saturn traditions into an arm bar, trying to put the hurt on Windham early and often.

Windham struggles to the ropes, and forces a break, allowing him to roll to the outside and hold his arm. Windham jaws at Saturn from the outside, but Saturn ain't gonna take it like Twisted Sister, and PLANCHA TO THE OUTSIDE ONTO WINDHAM! The crowd is eating that up! Windham ends up in the guardrail, as Saturn pops up and throws his hands up to the crowd, who give him some love.

Saturn pulls Windham up by his head, and sends him into the guardrail, and it looks like the ref is going to let this one go around the outside, as he's not even trying to make a count. Saturn unloads Windham's head into the guardrail, then sends him into the STEEL post. Windham wobbles, but he don't fall down, and Saturn directs him back into the ring.

Back in the ring, Windham tries to beg off, but Saturn will have none of it, and apparently has never seen a tape of Ric Flair either, as Windham pulls a trick out of Naitch's book and low blows Saturn, getting back the momentum in the match. Windham nails Saturn with a neckbreaker, and covers, but Saturn is out at one. Windham dosen't like it, and stomps vigorously on Saturn's chest to get the point across, then lifts him up for suplex, taking him over, and covering again, this time for two.

Windham seemed fully in control, when out of nowhere, Saturn reversed another suplex attempt into a head and arm variant of his own, and once again locked on an arm bar. Just when it looked like this was going to end the match, as Windham was caught in the middle of the ring, and didn't have what was not a normal finish for Saturn scouted, a fan jumped the guardrail, and rushed the ring, knocking over the ref from behind, stomping onto Saturn! Saturn was forced to release the hold on Windham, and the fan continued to stomp away at him, finally looking up to reveal that he was NOT a fan, but was a former tag team partner of Windham's Mike Rotunda!

Rotunda and Windham shook hands quickly, then Rotunda lifted Saturn up, nailing him with his Samoan Drop, before feeding him to Windham, who was on the top turnbuckle, for the Superplex! Rotunda then slid out of the ring, but not before rousing the ref, who made the tainted three count!

Winner: Barry Windham via Interference and Superplex

Windham and Rotunda throw Saturn from the ring, where he's helped to the back, and get on the mics. Windham tells the crowd that there was no way in hell he was going to lose in Texas, and he had a little 'insurance' to make sure that didn't happen. Rotunda told Windham it was his pleasure to help out an old friend, and to call him anytime. Windham then said that he let Saturn off easy this time, and if he ever showed his face in Double Cross Wrestling again, Windham really show him why he was called 'The Widowmaker'. The two yucked it up for a few moments longer, then headed to the back.

A moment passes in a heartbeat... or some other emo-ish bullcrap. Put it this way, there was a few seconds of the crowd buzzing, when Salt n Pepa's Whatta Man hit, and former WCW World Champion and WWF Tag Team Champion, Ron Simmons made his way out. Simmons looks to be in better shape then he was recently in WWE, and flexes. He gets a nice pop from the crowd, but that quickly turns as he flips them off, and yells that he dosen't need them.

Simmons stalks the ring, as Enter Sandman by Metallica begins to play. The song gets about halfway through, before Simmons begins to get antsy in the ring, looking around, and yelling at the ref to 'get his God damn opponent out here'. The song continues, until Simmons throws his arms up in frustration, and paces the ring, looking around the night club. Finally, a portion of the crowd parts, and we see The Sandman sitting at the bar, a pint of beer in his hand! The fans begin cheering for the anti hero, as he calmly drinks his beer, then asks for another.

In the ring, Simmons is bellowing at Sandman 'to get in the damn ring!'. Sandman looks at him, then holds up his hands, as if to say 'just a second', then downs the beer, rising from the barstool as he does. He slams the mug down, and picks up his Enter Sandman gets to the opening crescendo for the second time through. Sandman then, slowly and calmly, walks to the ring, and climbs in, facing off with Simmons, who wants no part of the Singapore cane in Sandman's hands, and backs off.

Ron Simmons vs. The Sandmn

Sandman puts the cane down in the corner, and advances to the middle of the ring, where Simmons asks for a test of strength. Sandman complies, and loses badly, getting tossed to the other side of the ring, allowing Simmons to flex and taunt him. Sandman pulled himself up by the ropes, and charged Simmons, and the two begin to brawl around the ring, exchanging punches. Sandman took the advantage with some strong left hands, and nailed Simmons with a modified jaw breaker, going for the cover.

Simmons kicks out, and after being pulled up by Sandman, goes on the offensive, with big right hands. Ron throws Sandman over the top rope, to the floor, and follows, helping the 'Hardcore Icon' get acquainted with the nearby steel guardrail as he does. The ref does not administer a count, and Simmons keeps up the onslaught. Sandman finally gets tossed back into the ring, where Simmons follows, locking on a rough camel clutch variant.

Sandman fights the move, but every attempt of escape just prompts Simmons to re-exert his power advantage, and wrench back further. Finally, it seems Simmons tires of the escapades, and rises up, only to visciously drop a knee into the small of Sandman's back. If this was a tag match, he'd be your drunk in peril, but its not, so that might as well be text filler. Hi mom. If you caught that, you may be the winner of our date with Srar sweepstakes, as Simmons puts the boots to Sandman and we are back to the action.

Simmons continues to dominate Sandman, inflicting pain with rudimentary strength based submissions, before picking him up and putting him in position for the Dominator. Sandman slips out, and nails Simmons in the gut, dropping him with a DDT, but Sandman is down on the mat as well, and cannot make the cover. Dukes wears girly panties. Ref starts the count, and Sandman struggles up at 6, with Simmons beginning to rise at 7. The two then trade blows in the middle of the ring, and Sandman ends up getting rocked, as Simmons forces him back, and finally over the top rope with punches.

Simmons once again follows, but this time the outside isn't so friendly to him, as Sandman meets him with left hands. It becomes rapidly obvious that referee Josh Rich prescribes to the 'very lenient' enforcement of the rules, as chairs come into play, and Simmons holds his own in a chair 'duel', until Sandman feints to the stomach and goes up top, waffling the former World Champion. Sandman then drives the chair down into Simmons gut, before rolling him into the ring.

Sandman walks around, and rolls back into the ring near his cane, grabbing it as he stands up, and as the crowd cheers. Simmons begins to rise, but his back is to Sandman, and he can't see him winding up with the cane, he turns... BAM! CANE SHOT TO SIMMONS' HEAD!!! Simmons is rocked, but not knocked down, so Sandman does it again, with the same result. Finally, Sandman says 'fuck it' and brings the cane across Simmons' throat...WHITE RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP! and this baby is ovah!

Winner: The Sandman via White Russian Leg Sweep

Sandman rolls out of the ring, cane in hand, and moves through the crowd, towards the bar. Along the way, he ends up with a mic, so he can audibly be heard ordering two beers from the bartender. He then turns back towards the ring, to a rising Ron Simmons, and talks about how they could get together and drink beers. At first, it looks like Simmons is going to give him the cold shoulder, but the enticement of some brewskis is too much, as Simmons finally makes his way over.

Even though he played the heel for the majority of the match, the two share a toast, and Simmons raises Sandman's hand. They then begin drinking, and stay at the bar for the remainder of the night, speaking with the fans, signing autographs, and watching the remaining matches.

A few moments pass, and though a large portion of the crowd still have their attention directed towards Sandman and Simmons, there are enough fans of the late Extreme Championship Wrestling, that when Alice in Chains' Man in the Box begins to play, all attention is on the entranceway, were Tommy Dreamer is making his entrance, accompanied by his real life wife Beulah McGillicutty. Tommy and Beulah take time to acknowledge the fans, but this moment is short lived, as Tommy is attacked from behind by his opponent tonight 'Dr. Death' Steve Williams. Beulah scatters, and Williams savagely lays into Dreamer, knocking him against the guardrail. In the ring, ref Nick Dumeyer calls for the bell, starting this match early.

Tommy Dreamer w/ Beulah vs. Steve Williams

Williams continues to hammer Dreamer, but Tommy was never one to take a beating laying down, and fires back. The two brawl in the aisle, and Williams gets the upperhand. Williams directs Dreamer to the ring by his head, and throws him in, pausing to taunt the crowd before climbing in himself. Williams then lays into Dreamer with stomps, until Dreamer gets into the ropes to break it up.

Dreamer rolls to the outside, and once again its obvious that the countout rule in 2XW is rarely enforced. Dreamer and Williams brawl some more in the aisle, and Beulah goes to the other side of the ring, as Williams lights Tommy's head up with punches, sending him slumping back first into the guardrail. Its just a ploy however, as Dreamer dodges out of the way as Dr. Death charges, and eats guardrail.

Dreamer takes control, bouncing William's head off the apron, then sending him into the stairs, allowing Tommy to get a chair. He wedges it into the turnbuckle, then wedges Dr. Death's arm inside. Using another chair, he smashes the chair closed, on William's arm, and shows why he is the 'Innovator of Violence'. It loses something when its not Joey Styles saying it though.

Tommy goes the tried and true hardcore way, as Williams tries to make it more of a hard hitting match, as he attacks Dreamer with rights, but his arm is badly injured, and he sells it by slowing down after the first few punches. Their back in the ring, and Dreamer sends him into the corner, then charges, but eats boot for dinner. Hey, its not worse then what McMahon was making him do. Williams charges with a lariat, and scores, but Dreamer's out at one and a half.

Williams drops down onto Dreamer, pulverizing his face with punches, and trying to fight through the pain. Tommy fights back with some psychology, going to the shoulder with a strike, then rolling Williams over and actually showing some technical ability, by locking the arm up, attempting to bend it ways it ain't supposed to go. Dr. Death scores back with an eye poke, and a low blow, bring Tommy to his knees, and taking away all his leverage, allowing the veteran to put a boot right between his eyes.

Williams wastes no time in grabbing Dreamer, and pulling him up onto his shoulder. It looks like he is going for the Oklahoma Stampede, as he rushes the turnbuckle, but Dreamer somehow slips out the back, and drops Dr. Death with a reverse DDT. Dreamer rolls out onto the apron, and stands up... SLINGSHOT ELBOW DROP!!!, Dreamer is pulling out all the stops! Dreamer covers... one... two...THRE-NO! NO! WILLIAMS KICKS OUT!!!! Dreamer can't believe it, but instead of arguing with the ref, he goes back to work, pulling Williams up, but Williams scores with a suprises forearm shiver, and staggers Tommy.

More brawling back and forth in the ring, and Tommy is on the losing end, as a final clothesline sends Dreamer up and over the ropes, where he nails his head on the apron as he comes down. Dreamer turns around to face the crowd, and he's bleeding, which is an important staple to any Tommy Dreamer match. Dr. Death isn't going to let a little blood stop his fun, as he nails Dreamer in the side of the face with a semi-running knee, then tosses him back in the ring for more punishment.

Williams is really taking it to Dreamer, who FINALLY scores back with a modified knee to the gut off a Irish whip/clothesline attempt duck, and Dreamer is house en fuego, to steal a phrase, as he nails Williams with everything but the kitchen sink, and anything resembling a technically based wrestling move. Blows reign down on Williams, but he still gets a last ditch whip in, that sends Dreamer to the ropes, where he catches himself. Williams rushes after, but Dreamer sees him coming, and ducks down, catching Williams' leg, and forcing him up. A hook of the head later, and the Spicolli Driver, ended Dr. Death's night, and his chance at Double Cross Wrestling gold.

Winner: Tommy Dreamer via Spicolli Driver

Williams rolls out of the ring as Dreamer falls to his knees, due to the violence in the match, and blood loss. Beulah enters the ring, and helps Tommy up, as he salutes the crowd, who show him some love. Someone who's not showing him some love, however, is Dr. Death, as he tries to get back in the ring, and is held off by ring crew. Tommy challenges him to come back, but his wish turns into a nightmare, as Dr. Death rushes the ring with a chair, blasting Tommy, and chasing off Beulah. Williams' then spits on Dreamer, and admires his work, before leaving, to boos from the crowd. Beulah, along with some ring crew, and a medic, help Dreamer to the back.

After Dreamer had been taken to the back, Desperado by The Eagles begin to fill the arena, as the crowd reached its highest point of the night, and the man of the hour, the man with the power, the 'Hardcore Living Legend', the Funker himself, Terry Funk, entered the small bar. The 620 people in the crowd quickly started up a 'Terry, Terry' chant, causing the Funker to pause in the ring, after taking a mic, and look out at the people. In his traditional red, white, and black tights, with matching headband, and a '2XW, Go Funk Yourself' shirt, Funk stood in the ring, waiting for the chant to die down. When it didn't, he tried to shush the crowd, which eventually worked.

Funk raised the mic to his lips, and, though it seemed he was at a loss for words at first, begin to speak. He thanked the crowd, and the city of Amarillo, for its support, both now, and throughout his career, and told that fans that without them, it never would have been possible. All the bumps, the bruises, the barbed wire, tacks, and explosions, all for them, and that Double Cross Wrestling was his gift to them. He talked about how he'd always wanted to open up his own promotion, and tonight was just the beginning, because when Terry Funk sets his mind to something, it gets done.

Funk continued on, speaking about the great rivalries he's had. Sabu, Vader, Cactus Jack. He said that though they weren't here, this was also a tribute to them, to the people that helped make Terry Funk. He then said that he had to ask a very special person to come out. He asked Tommy Dreamer to come back out, he knew he was banged up, but that this was something he wanted to share with him.

Man in the Box started back up, and Dreamer came out, this time alone, his head bandaged. He slowly walked to the ring, and looked a little woozy, but had a smile on his face. He took a mic, and then climbed into the ring, turning Funk's outstretched hand into an embrace, and thanking Terry for everything he'd done for him.

Funk was silent for a second, almost on the verge of emotion, but held it in. He told Tommy that he was happy to have him here with him, in this, his moment, no, their moment. He said that whenever he didn't think he had it, when he thought he was done, Tommy was always there, to tell him that he could still go, to keep him believing in himself. Tommy told Terry that he did it because of all the things Terry had done for him. Funk then asked Tommy to be his second for his match tonight, that it would be an honor. Tommy, of course, accepted, and the two shook hands again, before Tommy raised Funk's hand high, to a nice reaction from the crowd.

As they were playing to the crowd, KISS's War Machine started up, and Funk's round one opponent,Kanyon, stepped out from the back, with a mic. He taunted Dreamer and Funk, saying this was all very touching, but what did it mean, if after the next 15 minutes were up, Funk was lying in a pool of his own blood, having been beaten by Kanyon. He then hit his catchphrase, and when he said 'Who Betta Then Kanyon?', a portion of the crowd screamed 'FUNK!'. This angered Kanyon, who threw down the mic, and rushed the ring, as Dreamer slid out the back, and Funk readied himself.

Terry Funk w/ Tommy Dreamer vs. Kanyon

Kanyon slid into the ring, and rushed across to Funk, and was met with some stiff resistance in the form of punches from Funk, who was throwing home run blows. The two brawled for a moment, and Kanyon was able to get the advantage, by going low with a kick, and then taking Terry over with a suplex. His mistake came when he decided to taunt Dreamer on the outside instead of staying on Funk, and the veteran rolled him up for an early two count.

Kanyon was outraged, and his anger fueled him in the early going, as he savagely took to Funk with an array of holds, grounding the older man, and working over his neck, presumably for the Kanyon Cutter. Funk was unable to counter, as Kanyon took care to counter every counter attempt, and looked like the superior mat wrestler. Finally, Funk was able to nail Kanyon right between the eyes with a fist, and break his run.

Funk goes on the offensive with old school brawling, beating Kanyon around the ring with punches, kicks, and forearms, knocking him down for a chance at the Funk Spinning Toe Hold, but Kanyon is able to get into the ropes before he has to tap. Funk continues to work the leg, stomping away at the knee, and wrenching it ways it shouldn't go. Kanyon finally rolls out of the ring, to try and take a breather, but runs straight into Tommy Dreamer, forcing him back into the ring.

Kanyon takes advantage in a momentary lapse in Funk's concentration, scoring with a suplex, and this time floats over, but only gets one. He begins to argue with the ref, but Funk drives a forearm into his back, and sends him for a ride, catching him with a modified neckbreaker on the rebound. Cover gets one and a half, but Kanyon rolls through, and gets a near fall of his own. Finally, both men are standing, but Kanyon is hobbling on his injured leg.

Kanyon goes for another suplex, but this time he can't hold the weight, and Funk slips back out the front, catching Kanyon with a jawbreaker on the way down, causing his head to snap back, and for him to hit the mat. Funk calls for a chair from Dreamer, who delivers, and the ref lets it go. Hey, are you going to argue with the boss? Funk drives the top edge of the chair into Kanyon's leg, then into his gut, then tries to Pillmanize his leg, but Kanyon weasels out, and is on the apron. A running shot from Funk sends him into the guardrail, and its BONZO GONZO on the outside as Funk follows.

The younger Kanyon shows he's not just a technical wrestler, as he's able to hold his own on the outside, even busting Funk up by continuingly ramming his head into the steel pole, as Dreamer looked on, but was unwilling to interfere. Finally, Kanyon sent Funk back into the ring, and flipped off Dreamer, who looked angered, but stayed out of it.

Terry was staggering around the ring, obviously out of it, which allowed the viscious Kanyon to play cat and mouse with him, taunting him and kicking Funk's legs out from under him, and laughing as he struggled to his feet. Finally Kanyon went for the Kanyon Cutter, but Funk pushed him off, and caught his second wind, dropping Kanyon with a modified neckbreaker, before both men collapsed to the mat.

The count was started, and it looked like Kanyon was going to be up first, but he collapsed, and Funk won the race to their feet. He nailed Kanyon in the stomach with the chair, which had layed in the ring, and then twisted him around into a hangmen's neckbreaker. Then another, and another, as he layed Kanyon out with a trifecta of neckbreakers. Funk called for the end, and headed up top, looking for the Funkersault. He leapt, and flipped, and nailed Kanyon with the moonsault. The count was administered... one..two...THRE-KANYON KICKS OUT OF THE FUNERSAULT! KANYON KICKED OUT OF THE FUNKERSAULT! Funk, Dreamer, and the crowd can't believe it, as they get fully behind Funk, who, instead of arguing with the referee, immediately locks on the Spinning Toe Hold. Kanyon tries to hold out, but the damage to his leg is too severe, and he taps his way out of the tournament!

Winner: Terry Funk via Funk Spinning Toe Hold

Funk stands tall in the ring, blood streaming down his face, triumphant, as the crowd screams. Even Sandman and Simmons, from the bar, are applauding, as Dreamer leads the crowd in a standing ovation, while Kanyon hobbles to the back. Dreamer slides into the ring, a mic in his back pocket, and holds up Funk's hand one more time, before the two once more thank the crowd, and we are out!

Pretty damn good debut show there. Sandman and Dreamer advanced, which I'm happy about. We got to see the fork, and Mike Rotunda (Mark Out) putting in an appearance.

However, I'm disappointed that Saturn and Kanyon were kicked out of the tournament. I would have preferred Funk to go out in the first round, considering his age. However, I have a feeling you'll put Terry in the final, and have the other finalist (probably Dreamer) win, giving them some elevation.

Despite two of the results, I really enjoyed the show (which felt like it could have been promoted by Funk ;), and look forward to more. The Saturn-Windham/Rotunda program, and possibly a future Dreamer-Funk feud is all the incentive I need. I'll be back.

Good first show. Was a little generic in that not many programs got started, but you cant do much right away with Indy shows anyways. I like the atmosphere of your set with the bar and everything. I am glad someone finally got to the bottom of Dukes' underwear preferance. I hope your mom appreciated the shout out, and I believe when I take myself out on my date with me that I would like Italian food followed by a late movie

I must jump on the bandwagon and say that I thought that it was a great opening show. Very glad that Dreamer won. And I expect the rest of the shows to be great becuase I was born in Amarillo, so you best represent!

Good show, with a real "Indy" feel and kept with the Texas theme you have. For some reason, I want Koko B. Ware & Chilly Willy to get pushed. Maybe I just have a thing for guys who lose... or birds.

2XW News and Notes

~ Texas Two Step was considered a success, with over 600 paid. The emotional Terry Funk moment was the highlight of the night, although the brawl between Tommy Dreamer and 'Dr. Death' Steve Williams was the highlight of the in ring action.

~ Saturn, fresh of a tainted loss to 'The Widowmaker' Barry Windham, will have a month to think about his revenge, as he'll be working in the land of the rising son, for New Japan Pro Wrestling. We wish him the best of luck, and bring us back some Asahi!

~ No injuries, besides Marshall Knox's already injured arm to report. Expect to see both Marshall, and Saturn, back in time for our October show.

::Sung to the tune of 'Dio' by Tenacious D::

The Funker has rocked for a long long time

But now it's time for him to pass the torch

Your too old to rassle, no more rasslin' for you!

Were takin' you to the home, but we will sing a song about youuu

And we'll make sure that your very well taken care of

You'll tell us secrets that you've learned

Your sauce will mix with ours

And we'll make a good goulash baby

Funker time to go

You must give your branding iron to me!

And smaller one for Dreamer

Yeah anyway, good show Syco although I'm dissapointed at Saturn lost to Barry Windham I guess he couldn't win the tournament if he wanted to due to his Japanese commitments. I really enjoyed the Dr. Death-Dreamer match, and that would be an awesome match to see IRL, since Dr. Death is the shiznit. And YES, the Forking oh the glorious Forking! I also liked the fact, as JHS said, you used the enviorment around you. The elbow drop off the bar~! wh00t wh00t! Reminds me of Damien Steele vs. Chris Candido at XPW Baptised in Blood when Candido dropped the elbow off the bar to win the XPW title. Funker going over Kanyon was no surprise, as it looks like the finals are shaping up to be Dreamer and Funk although I wouldn't be surprised if Barry Windham finds his way into the main event, and it looks like Abby has another victim. Keep up the good work Syco-man I'll be reading.
